Questions with Zim Zam Zoom:
What is a town? In the past, a town began with a collection of houses around a river...
Living by the river means we can catch fish for lunch!

People built their homes near rivers so that they could use the river for transport
I’m cutting a tree down to build a house
These small towns grew into bigger towns... But how does a town grow? Does a town grow like this? Are the houses spread out?
Or close together like this? In a town, houses are built close to each other so they can share water, electricity and shops.
Transport can be on the roads or railways.
Boats, trains and trucks carry goods in and out of the town. 9
How do you travel in and out of a City? When a town gets really big it becomes a city. Look at how you can get to the city. KEY Train/ Tube Bus Boat Bicycle Car Plane

There’s a whole world in my park. Poem by Gabby Dawnay, Illustration by Maggie Li
There’s a whole world in my park Of trees to climb and open space To run and jump and roll and race To take a kite and make it fly To sit and watch the world go by. There’s a whole world in my park A place to play, a place to hide To swing from ropes, to soar and slide To ride a bike, to kick a ball, To find the spot that’s best of all.
36
There’s a whole world in my park A pond to stop and feed the ducks Sip cooling drinks from paper cups In summer, lie on scratchy grass And count the people as they pass.
Draw yourself in the park. What would you do?
There’s a whole world in my park Where joggers try to keep the beat Of tunes that echo in their feet Where people rest and children laugh And race their scooters on the path And pass the dogs that fetch and bark There’s a whole world in my park.
