next year we hope to be distributing 20,000+ copies per printing of The Riders Ragazine. We are changing our name from Oklahoma Biker the Riders Ragazine to simply The Riders Ragazine. This change is taking place to more proficiently move into other states surrounding Oklahoma. As we enter into 2015 we ll be working on a new book entitled “10 in the Wind”. It is a compilation of thousands of photos we have amassed over the past decade of publishing Oklahoma Biker the Riders Ragazine. Mostly, this will be a pictorial publication of our experiences at countless motorcycle runs, rallies and events in the past ten years. I am very excited about this project, and hope to have it completed by early summer.

With this issue we come to the conclusion of 2014. This year has been an extraordinary year for us at Oklahoma Biker the Riders Ragazine. We started the year off by increasing our circulation to 10,000+ magazines per printing. Those magazines are dispersed in more than 250 locations throughout Oklahoma. No other motorsickle magazine prints and distributes that many magazines in that many locations in our state. Thank you for helping us with this explosive Folks, I say all of the above for one reason. We wish to thank each growth. and every one of you, readers and The next item we are thankful for advertisers alike, for your continued in 2014 is our National Coalition of support these last ten years. Without Motorcyclists Silver Spoke Award you we would not have been able to for Media. We were honored with accomplish even one of the things I this award “in appreciation for have mentioned. Each of you have our improving the image of motorcycling.” love…honor…and respect. In closing I Throughout the years of publishing the wish to honor my Lord Jesus for His Riders Ragazine I never thought much guidance and mercy in my life. about how we might be perceived The Janitor in the motorcycle community. I just felt blessed to be able to ride my motorsickle for a living. Simply put, it has been a vehicle to tell the story of bikers in Oklahoma. Honestly, I never even considered that we might have an audience nationally. I am thankful for the positive recognition we have received in 2014. Which brings us to 2015. We have been working with a Small Business Administration mentoring program to help us grow in 2015. By the end of

BIKES, BLUES, & BBQ It was just a few years ago when Bikes Blues and BBQ didn’t even have a name; it was just a poker run with a BBQ grill, a blues band, and a handful of bikes at a Dickson Street Jose’s Mexican restaurant. Then it became America’s fastest growing rally, and then the world’s largest charity rally, and now suddenly, it’s been 15 years. What a ride – and party!

33rd Annual the Oyster Run I had wanted to go to the Oyster Run for several years, but just could not seem to make my schedule fit. A few months ago, a Brother of mine called me out, he said “I’ll believe your coming, when I see you here”. Well, that did it and fortunately enough, my schedule did not conflict, and I could afford it too. I flew into Seattle-Tacoma Airport on Friday morning September 26, 2014 about 8:30 am local time (2 hour time difference), the weather was raining as I expected. However by the time I got to my Brothers house 20 miles from the Airport, it was clear. And oddly enough it stayed clear until I drove back to the Airport early Monday morning September 29. The entire time I was there, the weather was dry and comfortably cool. I went sight seeing Saturday, ran about a tank of gas through a Dyna-Glide (furnished by an out of town Brother). Sunday morning, we got up early and rode the 100 mile trip to Anacortes, WA. We got their early, but the town was

918-865-9900

already blocked off, pedestrian and motorcycle traffic only. By noon, the motorcycles were parked as tight as possible, along the sides of every street, and 2 wide down the center of Main St. By 2 pm, the whole town reminded me of a mosh pit at a concert, people and bikes, everywhere. Oh and did I mention Oyster vendors, everywhere! If you can think of a way to eat an Oyster, it was there, cooked, raw, and even (my favorite) Oyster shooters! This will certainly go into my archives as one of the best runs I have ever been on! I highly recommend that everyone give it a try. A little history on the Oyster Run: It all started with a few Bikers getting together at the end of the summer to go for a ride and eat some oysters. The year was 1981 Limp Lee had just returned from months of working in Alaska, He talked with a few Bikers and they all met at what was then the California Tavern in Marysville, WA. They took off riding, and ended up in Edison, WA to have oyster cocktails. The next year a few more bikes On Keystone Lake

OKLAHOMA’S NEWEST FLOATING RESTAURANT AND BAR

joined in, the next year a few more, and by the fourth year there were almost 200 bikes. Well, as the years went by there were just too many people to have an organized run. So Limp Lee talked to the beautiful city of Anacortes, WA about having the run there, and the rest is history. Hun 1%er

The Ice Bucket Challenge Gene, owner of Scotty’s Lounge, and I recently took the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS and Childhood Cancer Awareness in honor of Ryder’s Army. The water was cold but the Biker Babes were hot…they actually poured the water over our heads. Capri sang with Tulsa music legend Billy Snow, who just happens to be the president of the Tulsa Downed Bikers Association. As always, we had a great time at Scotty’s Lounge Bike Night. Hope to see you there soon. Janitor’s Note: Cheryl had a stunt double stand in for her because she recently had shoulder surgery. Many thanks to Bob Vonfeldt for being such a terrific sport!

On October 5th two of our own Oklahoma Biker Babes, Tayla and Capri, attended the 16th Annual T-Town Drags. This event is an ALL motorcycle drag race where everyone is welcome. Whether you are a patch-holder or slick-back‌metric or American everyone is welcome to come race their motorsickles. Cheryl and I took our grandson and he loved it! Great place to take your family for a fun-filled day of motorcycle racing.

Oklahoma Biker wishes to show our love, honor and respect to the Vietnam Vets MC in this issue. Thank you for your service to our country. May God bless each of you! The Vietnam Vets MC are made up of two highly compatible groups of former military men, those that served in the country of Vietnam and earned the Vietnam service ribbon and those that served honorably in the military during the Vietnam war era and earned the National Defense ribbon. These men were bonded by history, and united by principles, to form a proud and unique biker brotherhood: the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club. They devote their time, energy, and resources to help build a better future for all veterans and their families. The Vietnam Vets MC assert their duty is to bring our POW/MIA soldiers, home and to insist on a full accounting of each and every one of our patriots from our government. They also help soldiers understand their rights to benefits and other related issues. To learn more about the Vietnam Vets MC go to: www.vnvlvokc.com

JAMES MOORE MEMORIAL POKER RUN In your early years you ride motorcycles and enjoy the wind in your face. You get married….have kids…life happens… and you go without riding for a few years. The time has come and you can now afford another motorcycle. You purchase your bike and start riding it through the countryside on a nice summer day. Two hours after buying your motorcycle a pickup pulls out in front of you – and the resulting collision takes your life! You leave behind four children and a grieving wife without means of support. This scenario happened to James “Jim” Moore. Thanks to everyone who came to the aid of the Moore family. You folks raised $1100 for his family.

OLD SKOOL CANDY CREEK RALLY Today many of the area motorcycle rallies are simply adult parties that are “biker-friendly.” Most of them have more golf carts and four wheelers than they do motorsickles. The newest addition to Oklahoma motorcycle events was reminiscent of Pawhuska in its formative years. With about 300 bikers in attendance the rally was more a big party than individuals fractioned off into smaller groups. The bike games were fun with everyone picking their favorite participants to win. There were bikes for sale and lots of miscellaneous parts available for those who enjoy building their own motorsickles. Colors were welcome with everyone having a great time together. This rally is one to watch…we hope to see you at the next one!

CHERYL’S COSMETIC CASE Admittedly, I used to make fun of folks who rode Geezer Glides and pulled trailers behind their bikes. I believed those riders to be RUB’s at their finest. I also used to make fun of old men who wore wife beater tee shirts. Then I had an epiphany! These folks were doing it for comfort; yes, it is nice to put all of my wife’s “much needed stuff” into our trailer (I call it Cheryl’s Cosmetic Case) and go on extended rides. More importantly, it is nice to put a thousand Ragazines into Cheryl’s Cosmetic Case and get to ride to distribute magazines. Being able to take that many books with me, without having to return to the office to get more, reduces our delivery time by at least two days each printing. I am not the only person I know who uses a trailer, made by Mini Trailer USA, for work. Eddie and Patty Gill pull a Nomad trailer behind their Harley Trike. They haul stuff for their ministry, the United Methodist Motorcycle Association. Eddie also straps Patty’s wheelchair to the trailer’s top. You see, Patty suffers from the debilitating disease MS. With the aid of their Mini Trailer she is able to go along on all of their ministry trips – and to Sturgis! The first time I pulled Cheryl’s Cosmetic Case was to Lawton for a Confederation of Clubs meeting. We were able to take all of our gear

plus plenty of magazines. We pulled the trailer between 70 – 80 miles per hour all of the way to and from Lawton on I-44. We never had any problems with it. We then pulled it to Dallas for the NCOM meeting. Again it was full of RAGs and all of our gear. We ran about 80 mph all of the way there and back. Most of the time I couldn’t even tell it was behind the Glide. I don’t like to recommend something unless I have tried it. Cheryl’s Cosmetic Case has been tried and tested on several trips. On a scale of 1 – 5 it rates a strong 5.5. I am sure it will continue to be our primary delivery system for Oklahoma Biker the Riders Ragazine for many years to come. Want comfort? Call Ricky at Mini Trailer USA 918.256.6084 or go to www.motorcycletrailers.us By the way, I do wear those old man tee shirts under my shirt now. For the comfort…. Janitor

Real Heroes Cancer Benefit The 4th Annual Real Heroes Cancer Benefit & Poker Run was held on September 6th at the Cimarron Bar in Tulsa. The Poker Run started out in a drizzling rain earlier in the morning which prevented some of us (me) from riding in it. Connie and Dee Wallace, with the aid of friends, did an amazing job putting the event on this year. Cancer Sucks was recipient of the money raised for childhood cancer research. We print more than 10,000 magazines bimonthly and distribute them in over 250 locations. We have always believed it best to be a big fish in a small pond. That is why our primary focus has been in Northeastern Oklahoma these past few years. This year we have expanded our distribution area to more locations than ever before. We have done this in order to equally represent the Central Oklahoma area; however, before moving into the OKC market I knew we had to find the right person to represent Oklahoma Biker the Riders Ragazine in that area. That goal was realized when Ronda “Indie” Lizar joined our Oklahoma Biker family as Creative Director in September. Ronda “Indie” Lizar lives in Oklahoma City and has spent most of her life in Central and Northwestern Oklahoma. She has been part of the Oklahoma motorsickle

community for more than ten years as a biker, vendor and jewelry designer. With more than twenty years experience in video production, graphic design, marketing and public relations, combined with her passion for motorcycles and the biker community, she is a natural fit for Oklahoma Biker. Together we plan to expand Oklahoma Biker the Rider’s Ragazine into Central Oklahoma. Look for extended coverage of events in the OKC area as we push to distribute more Rags in more locations throughout Central and Southern Oklahoma. If you would like to distribute our Riders Ragazines in your business please call us at 918.553.6642. We would love to send them to you. The Janior

where to hit back. When the world keeps punching and you feel like you cannot go on – hit the one in the middle! Focus on what needs to be done. Fight through the punches and come back strong. That is what Rocky would do. In the 3rd chapter of Philippians, the Apostle Paul gives us this example; “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” This means you must keep your eyes on the prize. Happy Thanksgiving…Christmas, what the heck happened to summer? I am not ready for the cold, but I am ready for the holidays. For those of you who don’t know me, I love to cook and entertain, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas. My husband Darrell is not so thrilled. Don’t get me wrong he loves the holidays but he doesn’t like the crazy woman I slowly transform into during these joyful occasions. I am a perfectionist. I want things a certain way no ifs, ands, or buts and I take no prisoners… sorry Darrell. Everyone seems to enjoy the festivities at our house but there is a downside to the celebration. I rarely get to enjoy the company of my friends and family because I am too busy attending the small stuff, which in the grand scheme of things is really not that important, and no one probably notices but me. There is a reason for my madness. I want to recreate the nostalgia I remember as a child for my family. I remember my Mother getting up early in the morning to put the turkey in the oven. The smell of the turkey roasting, fresh baked pies and homemade dinner rolls would fill the house. Right after Thanksgiving, we would

Holidays start decorating for Christmas. The tree would go up and we would stencil decorations on the windows with a can of fake snow that always got clogged up. The anticipation of Santa coming and opening presents in the on Christmas morning was unbearable. One night I even succumbed to carefully opening my presents and rewrapping them (I did get caught). I miss believing in Santa. Most importantly though, was the gathering of our family and friends. These are a few of my most treasured memories and if by some chance I can recreate them for my family I am going to give it my best shot. Will I calm down and not sweat the small stuff? Probably not; but I am going to try this year to savor the joy of being surrounded by my wonderful friends and family. And Darrell, I will do my best to not stress you out. We wish you all a safe and blessed holiday season. Cheryl

RANT ‘n RIDE I made my annual trip to Blues, Bikes and BBQ this year and you’d think after 15 years of this circus that I wouldn’t walk around shaking my head - and yet I do. Let’s start with some new signage I spotted this year. I saw a sign that said “Parking lot is for bike trailers ONLY”. This is so wrong on so many levels that I really don’t know which end to start at. Why should there be a trailer only parking lot at a bike rally? If people would just ride their bikes, there would be no reason for this. BB&B could have used that lot for more vendor space or maybe another beer garden, or God forbid…Bike parking (I know, I know, what a concept) after all it is still billed as a bike rally. Speaking of bike parking, I guess they don’t teach new

Harley owners how to park their bikes at the HOG meetings and I guess they’re not getting the picture from watching (and re-watching) SOA. With parking being at a premium, you’d think the masses of “NEW SCHOOL” bikers could get their bikes a little (A LOT) closer to the next overpriced, over chromed, over painted extension of someone’s manhood. Seems the New Schoolers have to leave ample room to show off the Paint, chrome and lights. I also noticed that they have a problem getting them to face the same direction in one (1) straight line. It kind of made me think of when the tornado went thru Joplin, there was just shit everywhere! No rhyme, no reason, just stop and park your bike and walk off. Who cares if you have blocked the road or someone in a parking spot. Classy, just pure class! I have ranted about LED lights before but in case you missed it I think they are stupid. That’s my opinion, get over it. I love nothing more than sitting on Dickson St. watching your LED lights fall/vibrate off your $50,000, show bike (gasp) and fall on your Vance and Hines pipes and melt/short out your electrical system because you had some Hack Vendor use 3M tape to stick lights on your bike. I’m sorry (not really), but that is funny as hell to watch people freak out, it’s kind of like watching someone walk into a spider web. I noticed a new trend this year, I guess we’re supposed to put

the female rider with the least experience out in front of the pack, in the fast lane to make sure no one can pass. If your Lady is new to riding, BB&B probably is not the best place to let her learn. Maybe you could do a little more parking lot time before trying to ride thru a couple hundred thousand people, just a thought. I am sure that when I got the chance to get past her, there was no doubt about how I felt on this subject. This isn’t a new topic but it is a growing thing. Where the hell did all the new clubs come from? Seems there is a club for just about everything. But the thing that caught my eye was a banana rocker on a vest. For those that don’t know what that

is, it’s a rocker (patch) on the side of the vest, The SOA guys have one that says SAMCRO (pretty sure that made some light bulbs go on). I was cruising up I-49 and glance over and see a side rocker that says “Accounting Crew”…… Really? I had to go make sure, yep, now there’s a Thug for you! Don’t mess with Bill, he’s with the accounting crew. You mess with him and you mess with whole freaking IRS! So, here’s my rant in short for this year. Ride your bike, I don’t like LED lights, BB&B is not the place to teach your ol’ Lady to ride, Have some courtesy when you park and don’t mess with Bill from Accounting. Tank

We strive to do our part for these kids in our community so that not only do they have a leg up on the academic educational performance, but maybe they can grow up and live their dreams!

Brandon Raines Foundation The Brandon Raines Foundation was formed to provide music lessons to young people whose families can’t afford them. Brandon Raines was a local well known and loved musician with great following in Oklahoma City as well as Austin, TX. In February of 2013, just as his first song “Shoes” was just about to break, when he died suddenly. BRF was founded as a way to honor his memory. The foundation began it’s mission working with 222 Studio as an after hours music program to provide group music lesson but soon expanded to provide more individualized opportunities. They now offer locations from Norman to Edmond and are looking for opportunities to expand. As schools continue to cut funding to many of

their arts based educational programs with in our school systems BRF is looking to expand to serve the needs of children that typically don’t fit into academic molds that are available. It’s a well known fact that children who receive a music education score higher academically than those who do not receive any musical teaching at all.
