Cannabis community, get ready because our holiday is upon us! The cannabis culture and communities across the nation and spanning the globe have made the day of April 20th well known. Yes, the celebration of 4/20 is now a nationally recognized holiday, also known as National Pot Smokers Day, Weed Day, or National Weed Day, at least according to http://www.holidays-andobservances.com. The events and celebrations are growing in number and in how many people attend. What’s even more exciting? Many states and cities are removing restrictions for events, that goes for pandemic restrictions AND consumption restrictions. Life is good again, let’s smoke about it! Who do we owe the honors to for the birth of this holiday? There are many myths, but the most credible sources stick to the story of the five high school students at San Rafael, California. These groups of friends would meet after school at 4:20 PM to get into whatever shenanigans they decided to. A few variations of the storyline say the group got together just to smoke cannabis and other stories allude to the group specifically meeting to search for cannabis in abandoned fields. In short, the group used the code word “4:20” to designate their meeting time. Somewhere along the lines, it became popularized and the whole day of April 20th is now celebrated as the stoner holiday. With the holiday nearing you can bet there will be some amazing deals. What is especially awesome about this year’s 4/20, the day lands on a Wednesday right in the middle of the week. So, you know what that means? Cannabis celebrations for a whole week! You get to partake in celebrations and amazing deals the weekend before, all week long, and into the next weekend. First, definitely check out your favorite dispensary on the day for the best deals. Keep in mind that they might offer the best deals around the time of 4:20 PM. Dispensaries are also great places to ask around for other events going on. Few major events are advertised but here are some 4/20 events going on locally and nationally. Remember, there may be more events upcoming that aren’t advertised or planned yet! 13
