The BIG Zen - Guiness World Record Breaking Edible

It’s happening! We are watching history be made. The world’s most awesome record is breaking this April, thanks to Zen Cannabis. 4/20/2023 is going to be a big day for Zen and the entire cannabis community. If you haven’t heard of Zen Cannabis, they are one of the premier cannabis edible brands in Oklahoma. Founded in 2020, Zen made it their mission to create the highest quality THC and CBD products, swiftly becoming the fastest-growing brand in the market. Their ability to grow so quickly is due in part to their “finger on the pulse” mentality within the cannabis market. Not only do they support their local communities, but they also support “artists and creatives and have worked with many established visual artists and musicians, including renowned street artist and designer Shepard Fairey (OBEY GIANT).” With their ability to thrive in the ever-changing cannabis market, it is no surprise that they are determined to make history for our cannabis holiday this month.

Zen Cannabis has a strong presence in Oklahoma, California, Missouri, and Massachusetts (six new activations are expected to be added to the list this year); sourcing locally from each state. Their robust product line is made with the leading innovative technologies so they can offer delicious gummies (full size and mini, with flavors ranging from Fruit Punch, Watermelon, Forest Fruit and Mango to Cherry), chocolate bars (flavors ranging from Milk Chocolate to Strawberries & Cream and White Chocolate), tinctures, beverages (Berry and Grape), and strain-specific CBD products. The “secret sauce” Zen uses is to infuse the “crème de la crème of cannabinoids” into each product. Also, many of their products are gluten and fat-free!

In Europe, under the name ZenCBD, their products are available in 20 countries including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, and the Netherlands. Subsequently, Zen Cannabis is in a position to become the number one cannabis edibles brand in the world by next year!

This 4/20, Zen Cannabis is making history by unveiling “THE BIG ZEN,” the largest, the most potent, and the most expensive cannabis chocolate bar ever made. In honor of this momentous occasion, we had the opportunity to speak with founder and CEO of Zen Cannabis, Jeremy Zachary. Zachary’s interest in cannabis was sparked in 2009 after his father’s battle with cancer. The medicinal value of cannabis was his main interest, and he was able to use his prior publishing experience to help educate the public on the realities of medical cannabis. “He launched Culture Magazine which quickly became recognized as the planet’s premier cannabis lifestyle magazine, publishing over 250,000 copies monthly and read by over 2.1 million readers worldwide. Since then, Jeremy has gone on to found multiple highly-regarded brands in the cannabis sector, including Zen Cannabis, Kush Vape, and Cannology.” Obviously, Zen Cannabis will be his most talked about brand for the foreseeable future due to the world record breaking bar and how many markets they dominate in. Let’s get into what the mind behind Zen Cannabis has to say about this amazing endeavor to forever be a part of cannabis’ history.

Chronic: Has a world record always been something you wanted to hold?

J Zachary: No, it's never been something we've ever considered. As a company, we're most concerned about producing a high-quality product, not breaking any records. We were in R&D mode, which requires sampling our 'live' product, and were in an extremely creative space at the moment the World Record idea came about.

Chronic: Who first thought of breaking a Guinness style World Record this way?

J Zachary: Our founder and CEO, JZ.

Chronic: Was this the first idea or one of many?

J Zachary: This was the 'one' that popped up after doing some research and realizing the Cannabis World Record space was wide open.

Chronic: Was this a hard sell for the company? Or was everyone on board pretty quickly?

J Zachary: Are you kidding? Once we started talking with the team, everyone wanted to be involved and the brainstorming began. Let me tell you, it's not easy to produce a properly infused chocolate bar this large.

Chronic: Why a chocolate bar? Why not a giant gummy instead?

J Zachary: We like challenges. A proper giant chocolate bar requires tempering and is much more difficult to make than a gummy. We like high bars (you like my pun?)!

Chronic: What is the process in making something so big?

J Zachary: We had a lot of great minds coming together to make it happen. Coming in at over 420 lbs, you can imagine having to move this thing around is no easy task. Everything is massive and requires lots of ingredients. We're using over 4 liters of oil in this monster to achieve the 4,200,000mgs.

(Also, THE BIG ZEN has taken a lot of manpower to create. Over “360 hours with twelve people whipping the megabar up to six hours a day. The 420 lbs treat will take twelve 40 gallon vats of their milk chocolate and over 100 pounds of cannabis flower to make, with the 9 by 4 feet bar.” It's truly a supersized culinary convection!)

Chronic: THE BIG ZEN seems to be breaking three records at once, is that a record in itself, too?

J Zachary: Hahaha, that's a great question. I think so!

Chronic: What will happen with the chocolate bar when this is all said and done?

J Zachary: We'll sell it to one lucky buyer for $42,000.

Chronic: Will it taste like the regular chocolate bars? Or will the size change the recipe?

J Zachary: It'll taste exactly like one of our regular chocolate bars, as we're using the same high quality ingredients we do with our everyday milk chocolate bar. It'll look slightly different without the traditional scoring marks of our regular chocolate bar.

Chronic: How long did it take to facilitate the creation of this giant bar?

J Zachary: When we're all said and done, it'll have taken us five months to make this behemoth.

Chronic: What does THE BIG ZEN project mean to Zen Cannabis, and how much fun has it all been?

J Zachary: The Big Zen was created to help spread the word about Zen Cannabis and demonstrate how anything is possible when you put your mind to it. The process has been a blast and the entire team has loved working on the project. This is truly something for our employees to be proud of.

Chronic: THE BIG ZEN will be hard to top, but what does the rest of 2023 look like for Zen Cannabis? What should we be looking forward to?

J Zachary: 2023 will be another year of growth as Zen Cannabis grows faster than any other cannabis company in the country. We'll be tackling a few new markets this year as we expand our reach. Zen Cannabis will also be releasing some new and innovative products the industry has yet to see. Let's just say, we may even be more excited than making The Big Zen!
