Slappin' Sativa Steak Salad

Approximately 45 minutes

Marinade Time: 30 minutes to 24 hours

Yields: 4 servings

What’s up and welcome back all my canna chefs out there, this has been a really warm summer and I don’t know about you but I’m looking forward to a little cooler temps. This summer has been full of lots of fun times, lake and river trips, volleyball tournaments, and concerts. I know I'm really looking forward to seeing Slightly Stoopid with Fortunate Youth, Common Kings, and Pepper, are you kidding me!? Some of my favorite reggae groups altogether. It’s going to be amazing, alright now back to this month's recipe, I’m doing one of my favorites from my time living in Pittsburgh.

I haven’t seen any other salad like it anywhere I’ve been during my travels. I call the Chef Buz version of this salad the Slappin’ Sativa Steak Salad, tons of flavor and french fries too, why not? Like the Primanti Bros sandwich, another Pittsburgh original, this Pittsburgh salad has fries on it also, just like bacon, fries are good on just about anything. So grab a bag of your favorite herb, twist one up and let’s get Cooking with a Buz!

INGREDIENTS

1 Cucumber, sliced

1 Green Pepper, julienned

½ Red Onion, thinly sliced

2 Hard Boiled Eggs, diced (Optional)

1 package of Cherry Tomatoes, cut in half

1 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese

1(16oz.) Frozen French Fries

1 Bottle of Catalina French Dressing

2 medium heads Romaine Lettuce, washed & torn

STEAK MARINADE

1# Flank steak

⅓ cup Canna Olive Oil

¼ tsp. Smoke Flavoring

2 tbsp. Lime juice

¼ cup Soy Sauce

¼ cup Worcestershire Sauce

2 tbsp. Light Brown Sugar, Packed

DIRECTIONS

1. First, marinate the steak, you can marinate it for as little as 30 minutes but I like to marinate it for a minimum of 3 hours. To make the marinade, in a bowl, mix the canna olive oil, soy, Worcestershire, lime juice, brown sugar, and smoke flavoring whisking well to ensure the brown sugar is dissolved.

2. Pour into a large Ziploc bag or Tupperware container and add the steak, make sure the steak is covered in the marinade, and cover and refrigerate. While that’s chillin’ let's get the salad washed and torn up, add the green peppers, onions, cucumbers, eggs, and tomatoes.

3. Toss and mix well, then cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. Once you’re ready to cook the steak, start your French fries in the air fryer or oven and get the grill preheated to medium heat, and lightly oil it, cook your steak to your desired temperature, I like mine medium rare.

4. Portion out the salads and slice the steak and place over the salad, now add the fries and top with mozzarella cheese and a drizzle of Catalina Dressing, dive in, and enjoy!
