10 Ways Weed Can make Christmas Better - Tis' The Season To Get Baked
Christmas time is here, again! The older I get, the quicker Christmas seems to come back around. Since even more states got further into full legalization, just last month (Maryland and Missouri), there are even more people who can celebrate the Christmas season with some form of cannabis in their lives. Here is a list of things you can do to elevate your Christmas season...
01
RELIEVE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING STRESS
While, yes, Christmas is a wonderful time of year, it can also be one of the most stressful times as well. There are a million different errands to run, like gift shopping, travel plans, decorating, and more! For stressful times like these, it is important to focus a little of your time on self care and stress relief.
Take an afternoon or a nice evening to yourself and safely indulge in your favorite way to take in THC. There is nothing wrong with chilling on the couch and watching a good movie to unwind. Even if this is a regular activity for you, still take a moment and focus on relaxing before the whirlwind of Christmas hits too hard.
02
BUY GIFTS WHILE DOING YOUR REGULAR SHOPPING
If you live in a recreational state and have people in your life who would enjoy a cannabis gift, you can do all your shopping when you normally refill your personal cannabis stash. There are a lot of different types of gifts that would be high quality and not just a different strain to try (even though that can also be a good gift). For some people, edibles are their favorite, and a new flavor like orange soda or blueberry muffin white chocolate.
There are also people who want brand name gifts, like an ashtray from Seth Rogen’s Houseplant, a pack of pre-rolled joints from Jim Belushi’s signature brand The Blues Brother or anything from Jay Z’s Monogram.
03
MAKE INFUSED CHRISTMAS FAVORITES
If your family is anything like mine, there are foods that are only made around Christmas time, so when they are, you have to enjoy them while they’re here. Some of my personal favorite Christmas treats are peppermint bark, hot chocolate, eggnog, and sugar cookies. Each of those is easy to infuse especially when you make them yourself, if you use store-bought items there are options like cannabis butter and Rick Simpson Oil for infusing. Or, if you’re lucky, your local dispensary might have some Christmas edibles in stock and you can try those!
04
THROW A CANNA CHRISTMAS PARTY
Parties with a cannabis theme can be thrown at any time of the year with any holiday in mind. For a Canna Christmas party, you might be surprised how many decorations you can find. When you take a quick Google search, there are thousands of hits on Amazon, Walmart, and Etsy all for cannabis-themed Christmas decorations. One option for how the party will indulge in cannabis is finding some Christmas glass like a Christmas tree bong, a candy cane pipe, or a dab rig with reindeer on it. For fun activities at the party, see topics 6-8, and for some party, food see topic 4.
05
BUY CANNABIS THEMED CHRISTMAS SWEATERS
Christmas fashion is already a topic of heavy discussion. Some people don’t like cheesy, ugly sweaters, and some people do! For those of us that do, there are so many cool variations of a Christmas sweater with cannabis on it. If you don’t like cheesy sweaters, if you look through some of the options, they can actually look rather fashionable while still functioning as a fun item. Lots of people get Christmas sweaters that incorporate their favorite things on them like TV shows or alcohol, so getting one with Santa and his elves rolling blunts instead of wrapping presents isn’t all that out of line... Just maybe don’t wear that one around Grandma or that one Aunt.
06
TREAT YOURSELF WITH NEW STRAINS
Just because you give others gifts during Christmas doesn’t mean you can’t give something to yourself! Be sure not to forget you this season and try out new strains that feel like Christmas. Some strains that sound like Christmas are Christmas Tree, Jesus OG, Permafrost, Three Kings Bud, Jack Frost, Snow Blaze, Grinch Weed, and Sugarplum Fairy. Out of the listed strains I’ve only ever seen Jack Frost and Grinch Weed before, both were high-quality strains that I would fully recommend. And if you can’t find any of these, calling any cannabis some “Christmas Tree” works too.
07
TRY TO ROLL A FANCY CHRISTMAS JOINT
Some of us take a lot of pride in our rolling skills, but do we have the skills to make a smokeable and artist joint? If you have the time, this is the perfect moment to try it out! Rolling might sound difficult if you’re not a joint or blunt smoker but once you get the hang of it, it’s no problem at all. For Christmas, you could take some time and roll a Christmas treeshaped joint. Check out some tutorials on how to roll a cross joint and you’ll be on your way to the coolest thing you’ve ever smoked. If this sounds like something that might just be impossible, you can purchase Christmas-printed joint papers online or from your local smoke shop.
08
MAKE CANNABIS CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS
Arts and crafts are an easy and fun activity for many occasions but as cannabis gets legalized across the country people are paying to do things like Puff and Paint where you can smoke and paint a picture at the same time. If you are interested in that, doing it at home is a cheaper and likely more fun idea anyway. Call a friend over or do it alone, but either way light up some cannabis and get creative. Making ornaments is a great way to create memories that you will revisit each year.
09
RECONNECT WITH OLD FRIENDS OVER CANNABIS
If you’d rather have a small get-together in lieu of a party, a kickback is always fun and a great way to reconnect with old friends. Many of us will be visiting our old stomping grounds where our old friends will be visiting as well. Message those old high school friends and set up a date for all of you to get back together and just smoke and talk, and catch up.
If your nervous puff puff passing will loosen you up and the group will feel like you’ve never missed a day. It’s so important to see the ones we love during the holidays, even if you don’t end up hanging out for long seeing them should feel refreshing.
10
TRY TO RELAX BEFORE NEW YEAR’S EVE
Once you’ve got Christmas done with and are laying on the couch after going back home, this is your moment to collect yourself before the year is over. December 25th falls on a Sunday this year and having a Monday directly after Christmas sounds like a long day of work. If you only have Christmas night to recoup, be sure to take that self-love seriously and remember how fun it all was even with the stress that came before it. Take an edible and go to sleep early, you’ll sleep like a log to feel brand new the next day.
I hope you all are able to enjoy your Christmas and New Year celebrations surrounded by love and laughter. Be sure to party safely and be merry! Here we come, 2023!
