Pride Month - Cannabis Brands Supporting LGBTQ+ Causes

Happy Pride Month y’all! During the month of June, we should do our part to support LGBTQ+ causes. One way to do that is to buy from brands who donate to such causes. So let’s get into which cannabis brands to look for!

Lowell Farms

@lowellfarms

Over the past few years, Lowell Farms has been active in their Pride Month celebrations. Lowell Farms, in 2019, designed their Limited Edition Pride Pack. According to Leafly, it “directly benefited the LGBTQ community through the first ever partnership between GLAAD and a cannabis brand, 10% of the sales from each Pride Pack purchased in June was donated, and every customer will receive a poster of the Pride Pack’s designer as a gift”. In 2022, they brought back the Limited Edition Pride Packs and continued donating to LGBTQ+ causes. Although these are limited editions, the company is constantly advocating for the LGBTQ+ community. Check out their Pride Festival, if you’re in the Michigan area!

LEVIA

@leviabrands

LEVIA is a cannabis company that is not shy about their support for Pride and Pride Month. In 2022, this brand launched Limited Edition Pride Label infused drinks that feature Earth being “hugged” by a Pride flag. During this time, LEVIA donated “$5,000 to Massachusetts’ Transgender Emergency Fund during their Trans Pride: A Celebration of Liberation event occurring on June 4th at Boston’s City Hall. The donation will help provide homeless transgender individuals with temporary housing for a year, accompanied by staff to oversee and support the program by providing resources for members as they work to secure their own employment and housing in the future,” reports BEVNET. This year, it looks like they will be doing the same!

Good Day Farm’s

@gooddayfarmofficial

If you’re looking to brighten your day, Good Day Farms has the goods to cheer you up! Good Day Farm has been uplifting LGBTQ+ communities for a few years now. Recently, their Pride Month celebration of 2022 consisted of releasing a Pride themed strain called Rainbow Sprinkles! If you’re in Missouri or Arkansas be sure to keep an eye out for this strain! During the original unveiling of this strain, the packaging was very colorful and 100% of the proceeds were donated to local charities that serve the LGBTQ+ community, “including the homeless youth nonprofits Lucie’s Places in Arkansas and community center The Center Project in Missouri,” reports High Times. The Rainbow Sprinkles strain is an extension of the Good Day Farm’s Sprinkles Collection. This collection was also donated to supporting Breast Cancer Research with the Titty Sprinkles strain. Be sure to check Good Day Farm’s out if you’re in their area!

Dad Grass

@dad.grass

The name might sound like they could be behind the times, but Dad Grass is hip and with it! In 2022, Dad Grass released their Pride collection! This collection is for people who are more into CBD and CBD pre-rolls as Dad Grass is curated to be so therapeutic they’re appropriate for Dads. Their Pride Pack was a five-pack of CBD joints, and it came with “Daddy Chill” (if you know, you know) branded hats and a cute, colorful shirt! According to High Times, “The designs are by Huberto Cruz aka I Scream Colour, and 100% of proceeds go to Equality California, a nonprofit that helps queer voices in California be heard.” So if you’re in the Dad Grass area, be sure to check them out!

MedMen

You may have heard of MedMen, they are the retailer that many call the ‘Apple Store of Weed’ and they are doing their part to support the LGBTQ+ community in California. In recent years, MedMen has partnered with the non-profit Equality California, the largest Californian LGBTQ civil rights organization. During their partnership MedMen created limited edition Pride products like glittery gummies and rainbow bath bombs, to name a few, where they donated 15% of all profits. MedMen has always shown support to the LGBTQ+ community, in fact, a large number of their executives and employees identify as such. They have walked in Pride Parades and have in-store Pride celebrations. According to The Cannabis Investor, “the company has also shown their support of other LGBTQ organizations such as Rogue Artists Ensemble, ONE Archives Foundation, The Foundation for The AIDS Monument, Trans Can Work Alliance for Housing & Healing, Project Angel Food.”

Green Thumb Industries

@gtigrows

Green Thumb Industries has shown they are here to support the LGBTQ community. They own retailer Rise and Essence, together they released a limited edition vaporizer pen, a rainbow Rhythm. A portion of the profits from this pen were donated to the GLBT Historical Society, a center dedicated to preserving, collecting, and interpreting gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people's history. The Cannabis Insider quotes Katie Denton, Green Thumb Industries’ SVP of Marketing, “GTI proudly supports Pride Month, and we’re honored to share the stories of the LGBTQ community’s impact on legal cannabis.” The company continues to support the LGBTQ+ community to this day. If you’re ever in the area of a GTI owned retailer, stop in and see what they’ve got!

Trulieve Cannabis

@trulieve_

Trulieve Cannabis is the largest fully licensed medical cannabis company in Florida, and in the recent past, they partnered with Equality Florida. Equality Florida began in 1997 to help fight against LGBTQ+ discrimination. This partnership aided Trulieve Cannabis in their donation efforts during Pride Month. A portion of all sales for their rainbow TruPODs, TruSTIK vape pens, and other products all went to Equality Florida. The Trulieve Cannabis CEO, Kim River, told The Cannabis Investor, “We have worked hard to create an environment where everyone — regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity — feels safe, comfortable, and welcome.” With their efforts, the LGBTQ+ community of Florida was able to help people in need. If you’re into vaporizers and things of that sort, be sure to check them out!

These are not the only brands that donate to the LGBTQ+ community. There are others that did not make limited edition products and simply donated to causes they feel strongly about. For example, The Source+ and PAX Labs have been active in their donations. Be sure to do your part in celebrating Pride Month and see which brands or stores near you support the LGBTQ+ community. You might be surprised how many are out there! Stay safe and celebrate Pride responsibly.
