A Home Run for Their Future Starting as an indoor baseball game in 1887, softball has become one of the most popular team sports in the United States. USA Softball, the national governing body for the sport, offers people of all ages the opportunity to play the game at a variety of levels and currently boasts more than 120,000 teams with 2 million players nationwide from adults to youth. Headquartered in Oklahoma City at the National Softball Hall of Fame and Museum, USA Softball also trains and promotes six national teams that compete as Team USA. In 2018, USA Softball established four charitable organization endowment funds at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation to create a steady funding stream, providing annual support to the national team programs. “The Community Foundation’s reputation and experience made them a natural choice,” chief executive officer Craig Cress said. “Through our endowment, we can establish a solid foundation for our national teams and give donors confidence in the longevity of their gift.”
