INTERIOR DESIGN PORTFOLIO AND RESUME
ABOUT ME Hello there, my name is Oksana! I’m an interior designer with over 2 years of experience in residential and commercial interiors. I’ve worked both independently and as part of a design team in the San Francisco Bay Area. I’m passionate about the practical and aesthetic aspects of design, and appreciate the challenge of finding a solution that will meet and exceed a client’s needs and vision. I practice a holistic approach to interior design that includes sustainable practice, beauty, technicality, and the overall wellbeing of clients and users. I’m a lifelong learner and deeply enjoy the practice of interior design. I find deep enjoyment in 3D modeling, space planning, finish selection, and collaborating with others to brainstorm unique solutions to overcome design challenges. I’m pursuing NCIDQ certification, and complement my formal training by attending industry events and studying the latest interior design publications. In addition to my training, I bring extensive mathematics, purchasing, logistics, and management skills from my career before design. In my spare time I enjoy spending time in nature, reading, and sketching.

INSPIRATION IMAGES CLIENT AND USERS The City College of San Francisco is a community college that has served the community since 1935.
The forests of Northern California are an inspiration for the color scheme and finishes
Users of the space are students, teachers, and workers of CCSF. All of them diverge by age, background and culture. The City College supports and encourages student possibilities by building on the vibrancy of San Francisco and where it is guided by the principles of inclusiveness, integrity, innovation, creativity, and quality.

The cafeteria is located in the Ocean Campus of CCSF. It’s bordering residential neighborhoods on all sides. The campus is spread out, so access to healthy food and a relaxing place to study within a few minutes’ walk is essential. The cafeteria is already a place of gathering for meals, group meetings, and socializing over coffee.

MAIN ISSUES
SOLUTIONS
• Sunny • Big enough to accommodate groups and individual seating. • Many exits that help with human flow
• Not enough tables for small groups • No clear zoning • Lack of site visibility from the street
• Provide different sizes of tables and seating to meet personal and group needs • Define zones more clearly with floor covering, table arrangement, and ceiling • Install outdoor sign with light • New engaging front yard improvement in front of the North entrance

Inspiration and Concept
PATH The site topography reminded me of the forests of Northern California, which feature valleys, meadows, and dramatic changes in elevation. Scientific studies demonstrate the beneficial power of nature, for example how visiting a forest can reduce stress and improve overall wellbeing. Leveraging this concept, I challenged myself to consider how a feeling of being in a nature-inspired space could improve wellbeing of students and faculty.

FACADE PROJECT DESCRIPTION The goal of the assignment was to re-examine the Mashrabiya pattern and create the screen wall using Rhino technology. Starting point: pick an existing Mashrabia pattern or any other pattern and use it to create three - dimensional pattern. As a stating point I picked art by Francesco Stumpo. He is an artist with an architecture background who explored various line connections in form. His work is simple and reminded me of Mashrabiya. I decided to experiment and explore the possibilities of transforming plain 2D lines into a beautiful 3D object.

The goal of the project is to transform existing workspace of Sungevity into a diverse landscape that encourage collaboration, learning, and positive environment to live more meaningful life.
Sungevity is a leading fast growing solar electricity company that designs home solar systems; manages system installation, maintenance, and performance. It has many locations in the USA and Europe.

OAKLAND
Jack London District
The project is located at 66 Franklin Street, Jack London square, Oakland. It is a historical part of the city that is diverse, vibrant and rapidly transforming. The neighborhood has a good live-work balance providing office buildings to work, market places and restaurants to shop, and mixed use buildings and residential houses to dwell. In addition, good public transportation, ferry terminal, buses, and Amtrac, and close proximity to freeways connect the square with the business center of Oakland, San Francisco, and the rest of the Bay Area and California.

OFF-THE-GRID ON-THE-GRID Sungevity attracts young employees who value sustainable cultural lifestyle. Sungevity promotes the emotional wellbeing of the employees providing weekly yoga boot-camp. It is also B certified corporation, that means that it interacts with workers, customers, community, and environment meeting “the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.”
CONCEPT In my concept I combined features of the neighborhood and cultural values of the company. Horizontal business model is seen in open space plan without separate offices for management. Management of the company is a mentor and team lead and is a part of the team rather than an overseen person. Shared spaces promote connectivity and work environment choices while having some closed spaces for rejuvenation.

My role in the project was to assist the designer with the visual representation of the future spaces and furniture selection within the budget constrains to successfully communicate with a client about their needs and aesthetic. I created realistic renderings, floor plans and elevations with different finishes and various furniture layouts. I proposed three furniture plans; the current plan illustrates the client’s final preferences.

The house is built in an irregular shape that posed a challenge as it pertains to visually balancing the space. With furniture placement facing the windows, the view became a focal point, thereby redirecting attention from the irregularity of the architecture.
