Déann Cumann Ríoga Ársaíochta na hÉireann caomhnú, scrúdú agus léiriú ar leachtanna agus ar shéadchomharthaí a bhaineann le healaíona agus nósanna ón am atá caite i dtaca le seaniarsmaí, teanga, litríocht agus stair na hÉireann de. Anocht tabharfaidh Simon Ó Faoláin, file agus seandálaí, agus na scríbhneoirí ficsin mór le rá Éilis Ní Anluain agus Réaltán Ní Leannáin Tríd an Doras Ársa sinn chun saothar nuachoimisiúnaithe a léamh, saothar atá bunaithe ar fhoirgneamh agus ar bhailiúcháin an Chumainn. The Royal Society of Antiquaries Ireland ‘preserves, examines and illustrates all ancient monuments and memorials of the arts, manners and customs of the past, as connected with the antiquities, language, literature and history of Ireland’. Tonight poet and archaeologist Simon Ó Faoláin and acclaimed fiction writers Éilis Ní Anluain and Réaltán Ní Leannáin take us Through the Ancient Door to read newly commissioned work inspired by the society’s building and its collections.

Cloisfear dánta á léamh anocht ag Doireann Ní Bhriain agus tionlacan ceoil ó Cholm Ó Snodaigh agus beidh íomhánna á dteilgean ar scáileán ag Margaret Lonergan. Beidh an criticeoir Caoimhín Mac Giolla Léith sa chathaoir agus plé á dhéanamh ar an aistriúchán liteartha ag Tomás Mac Síomóin, Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh, Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin agus Gabriel Rosenstock. In the File ar Fhile (Poet by Poet) series from Cois Life, leading Irish poets reinterpret the work of European poets. Tonight’s performance features Doireann Ní Bhriain reading poems from the series to musical accompaniment from Colm Ó Snodaigh and screen projections by Margaret Longeran. Critic Caoimhín Mac Giolla Leith will also chair a discussion on the art of literary translation with Tomás Mac Siomóin, Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh, Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin and Gabriel Rosenstock.

IMRAM aims to bring its audiences on a ‘voyage of discovery’ that reveals the rich diversity of modern Irish language literature through a programme of eclectic events that blend poetry, prose, film, drama and music in lively, upbeat venues.
