Schloss Eggenberg, Vorchdorf, Austria

Since 1681

Schloss Eggenberg is one of Europe’s oldest breweries – built on a history dating back to the 10th century and a family heritage stretching back eight generations. Despite a brewing range that stretches from the incredibly pure Hopfenkönig Pilsner to the off-the-charts strength of the famed Samichlaus, the brewery’s beers are considered by many as some of Europe’s best examples of lagering.

Eggenberg Hopfernkönig

Pils

5.1% ABV

6×4pk 500ml cans; 20L

Carefully-selected raw materials combined with the finest art of brewing make this a beer to fall in love with. Bright as it is crisp, and refreshing as it is flavorful, this is the picture of a pilsner you’ll be hard-pressed to stop coming back to.

Eggenberg Urbock 23°

Doppelbock

9.6% ABV

6×4pk 330ml. bottles

Called the “Cognac of Beers,” this beer is a rich goldenbrown toffee color with a strong malt aroma. While it’s body is remarkably light for the 9.6% ABV, its character is that of a woodsy, heavy beer –more akin to cognac, brandy, or even scotch liquor than to the traditional beer. It matures in their ancient cellars for nine months until it is fully fermented and turns amber in color.

Eggenberg Helle Weizen

5.2% ABV

6×4pk 500ml cans

Eggenberg’s newest release is a full -bodied and open-fermented Hefeweizen brewed with both sunny days and snowy nights (on the slopes) in mind. Waves of banana and clove coat the palate as you’d expect any traditional Bavarian wheat beer to, but the hint of bubble gum that lingers behind is the first sign that just one sip of this beer won’t be enough.

Eggenberg Freibier Alkoholfrei .38% ABV

4×6pk 330ml bottles

From the creators of Samichlaus Classic and Urbock 23°!

Malty taste with notes of unmalted grain and caramel malt and balanced with a soft hop bitterness. This is as close to a mega-hit of nonalcoholic brewing as one can get.

Samichlaus Classic

Doppelbock - 14.0% ABV

6×4pk 330ml. bottles; 20L keg

6×4pk 330ml slim cans

Brewed only once a year on December 6th, Samichlaus is aged for a full 10 months before bottling. Aroma and palate match step-for-step with light malty notes of vanilla, toffee, chocolate, oak— suggesting matured brandy in its character. At 14% ABV, this gem can be cellared for years to come, allowing its forceful flavor to grow in nuance and subtlety.

Samichlaus Helles

Belgian Tripel - 14.0% ABV

6×4pk 330ml. bottles

This variant of the iconic Samichlaus is brewed exclusively with Austrian Pilsner malt – and the result is pure intensity in beer form. Like its namesake, this beer is only brewed once a year, on December 6 – but here delivers a forceful bouquet of pear, apple, and grape before a second wave of spices hit to deliver a product more reminiscent of sherry to the flagship’s brandy. With a few more years under its belt, it grows in complexity and nuance.

Samichlaus Schwarz

Belgian Quad - 14% ABV

6×4pk 330ml. bottles

The youngest variant of the legendary Samichlaus, Samichlaus Schwarzes delivers a deeper – if possible – flavor palate than the original. Roasted malts drive the color jet black, and the resulting dark chocolate and roast coffee flavors result in a winter warmer if there ever was one. As its siblings, Samichlaus Schwarzes is brewed once a year on December 6th.
