Adobe After Effects 2.

Photoshop.

Working with photoshop create documents to use in After effects, the document settings we need to be working with are, 72dpi / 1005 x 576 (W x H) and RGB colour mode

These first set of blue lines are the ‘action safe zone’ they are a legacy from old tv screens (before flatscreens), the second set are refferred to as the ‘title safe zone’.

It’s a good idea to change the screen settings to the same as photoshop to have the safe zones to use in after effects.

It is best to import documents as footage as this makes the document occupy only one layer in the after effects file your working with weather its audio or visual.

You now need to add the file to the composition, there are two ways to do this you can drag it into the composition r add it as a layer, but doing this willl result in fixing the image to the center of the page every times.

If we split the photoshop docment into sepaerate layers we want to work with in after effects then we can use these individually in after effects making it easier to play with it, but this means we need to import it as a composition.

If we are going to move objects we need at least 2 key frames to specify were they are moving, one for the begining point and one for the second position.

to drop a key frame we ust select every layer, then click ‘p’ to select position and click the timer, then move the time line along the document to the end to drop the second key frame.

We can then simply select each layer individually and move them to our wanted position at the end of the key frame, so over time the layers will move gradually.

As with Position we can select scale by using the ‘S’ shortcut, this allows us to change the scale of the selected layer, so using key frames and scale we can adjust the scale over time.

So as we see here as the animation plays with me adjusting the scale towards the end of the clip the scale of the individual letters on their own anchor points instead.

When using iillustrator we need to set up the document in a similar way to photoshop, selecting film settings rather than image ones, except there are no squre pixels because illustrator works with vectors not pixels.

To keep an illustrator image crisp and not pixelated there are a few buttons near the layers pannell to help you change these settings, the little an looking button is the shy switch this allows you to hide any selected layer, but you must also select the main shy button above the layers, the diagonal line allows you to lower the quality of documents if you need to keep RAM low, hereby speeding up the document. when ever using these buttons we must always select the main button also.

Other buttons include, motion blur which blurs the moving image to make it seem like its moving, Adjustment layers, this will apply a level of an adjustment to all the layers in the document / and the final button on the right lets us make our layers 3d .

The button to the right of the shy button is the continually rasterize the layer, this is best used with illustrator documents within after effects and that simply retains the vector quality of the illustrator file.
