Celestial Classification Print process exploration ‘Print x Universe’
Celestial Classification A collaboration with Frankie Roberts exploring hand crafted print processes. We aimed to code the celestial bodies in our universe. Each print process used represents a different aspect of either a Sun, Planet or moon. There is also promotional collateral for the event as we will be setting it up in the near by future. 3 bodies were selected from each category and printed
by hand but for the actual event we will print all celestial bodies in our solar system. The design of the brief was kept as minimal as possible to represent the bodies in a simple manner and to create a striking aesthetic.

Promotional Material For the promotional material a Mono-spaced typeface was used to give the project a technological aesthetic and due to it being a heavily information based brief. Simple mocks of the finialised prints were used for the graphic application of the design in order to maintain a brand like feel to the exhibition. The colours used throughout are fitting with the colours selected to categorise the celestial bodies or as close as we could get digitally printing.

Screen prints The screen showcased above are for the terrestrial planets, the print processes used are flock printing and foiling. Flock printing is very similar to screen process but instead of regular binder used with the acrylic a flock binder is used which when heat is applied raises slightly giving the print a texture to touch. This process was used to represent the solid surface of terrestrial planets. The gold foil was used was to represent the metallic core of a planet.
