‘SON OF THE DICTATOR’ TAG DOESN’T BOTHER BONGBONG: ‘I KNOW THEY’RE WRONG’
GMA Pinoy TV’s ‘Together Again’ Concert a sold-out hit!
The flagship GMA international channel has definitely outdone itself with its sold-out twonight anniversary concert in the U.S., starring no less than Bea Alonzo, Aiai Delas Alas, Lani Misalucha, Julie Anne San Jose, Rayver Cruz, and Dingdong Dantes.
The highly successful “Together Again: A GMA Pinoy TV @ 17 Concert” was held last September 24 and 25 at the Pechanga Theater, Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California. After a three-year hiatus in the US concert scene, thousands of excited fans flocked to the venue for a night of singing, dancing, laughter, and everything Pinoy!
Everyone was ecstatic the moment when multi-awarded actress and box-office icon Bea Alonzo stepped into the GMA Pinoy TV stage. As her concert debut as a Kapuso, the multi-awarded actress and box office icon was just as excited to perform for them.
“Talagang naramdaman namin ang warmth ng inyong pagtanggap,” said Bea, thanking the Pinoy fans.
“Sana hindi pa po ito ang huli and sana po lagi kayong mag-iingat at lagi po kayong manood ng GMA shows sa GMA Pinoy TV,” she urged. She also delightfully invited the Kapuso abroad to support her first GMA series, ‘Start-Up PH’ with Alden Richards.
Kapuso Comedy Concert Queen Aiai delas Alas, in turn, surprised the audience with her out-of-this-world costumes and antics that made the experience unforgettable for them. “After so many years, nandito po kami para paligayahin kayo at sana po ay
On a more heartfelt note, the crowd also turned emotional as Lani Misalucha shared her health issues and her miraculous recovery
leading up to the concert. With her timeless vocal prowess, the Las Vegas Siren of the Strip sang her new song “I’ll Rise To The Top,” which is about how she overcame her health situation. “Sana magkita-kita pa po tayo ulit sa mga susunod pa naming mga concert na gagawin. Talaga namang nakakasarap po sa damdamin na together again po tayo. We will see you again. Thank

you so much for watching the show,” Lani said.
Asia’s Limitless Star Julie Anne San Jose and Kapuso
Total Heartthrob Rayver Cruz, collectively known as JulieVer, wowed the audience as they showcased how multi-talented they are individually and as a duo. The audience witnessed their on-screen chemistry from being the hosts of ‘The Clash,’ mainstays in ‘All-Out Sundays,’ and even on social media through their viral dance videos.
“Sa lahat po ng ating mga Kapuso at kababayan abroad, maraming maraming salamat po sa inyong suporta. And of course, nandito lang kami para po sa inyo and we always want to bring you closer to home kaya po kami nandito. That’s why we have been doing these shows in different parts of the world. We are stronger together talaga kapag nagtutulungan tayo,” said Julie Anne who is set to be seen in the upcoming primetime series ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra.’
“Sa kabila ng mga pagsubok na dumaan, nandirito pa rin kayo para suportahan kami.
Kaya ngayon, nandito naman kami para mag-give back ng isang napakagandang show para ma-feel good naman ‘yung mga Kapuso natin dito sa States,” Rayver added.
And speaking of kilig, no one was spared by Dingdong Dantes’ charm. The Kapuso Primetime King easily wooed the crowd as he serenaded them and even sang a duet with one of the audience members.
Dingdong, who has been with GMA since the international channel’s launch in the US 17 years ago, could surely attest to how much the Kapuso abroad has become stronger after all these years with GMA Pinoy TV. “We are happy to be here again finally. Pagkatapos ng ilang taon, we are together again. But this time, we are definitely stronger dahil ang dami po nating natutunan. Bukod sa na-miss namin kayo, sana na-miss n’yo rin kami kaya babalik at babalik po kami,” he assured. Towards the end of the show, he gamely took selfies with the fans and invited them to continue watching ‘Family Feud’ and ‘Amazing Earth’.
Online, several netizens congratulated and shared their delight with the Kapuso stars
for a successful show. Some of them, who are from other parts of the world, were also clamoring for GMA Pinoy TV to bring their favorite artists and hold concerts in their respective areas.
One of the concertgoers with the handle @igotyoubabe_ commented on Instagram, “Was there tonight at Pechanga and wow, I was blown away by Bea. She is gorgeous and hearing her sing this song live, blew me away. [Love] it so much and everyone else who performed.
Dingdong not only is so POGI but very kind. He grabbed almost every camera and took selfies. Juliever is such a match made in heaven. Aiai is as always so funny. Last but not least, Asia’s nightingale is just amazing! Great performance everyone!”
“Superb performance, Ms. Julie! So grateful [for] your presence on stage. Hope you could do more concerts soon,” wrote @imericcho.
@row1705 also commented, “Dingdong was generous giving
everyone a handshake, pogi na mabait pa.”
“Hi Lani M, you’re [a] fabulous singer! Hope and pray for your health, take care po,” said @fhaye16.
Equally, GMA International First Vice President and Head of Operations Joseph T. Francia has nothing but good words and gratitude for being together again with the Global Pinoys. “Thank you for your overwhelming support as we celebrate 17 colorful years with you. Thank you for making GMA Pinoy TV a part of your lives, for welcoming us into your homes, and into your internetenabled devices.”
“We are strong as a people. Individually, each of us is strong. But when we celebrate our diversity and complement each other’s strengths – as a community coming together – we can be formidable. Let us be the #StrongerTogether Movement. And with faith in God and one another, be a powerful force for good in the US and even in the world,” Francia added.

Risa didn’t applaud Bongbong’s entrance
D uring President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s first State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Monday, Senator Risa Hontiveros took the attention of many netizens: She was not clapping when the President was introduced. And netizens loved her for it. Hontiveros said she supports some of the measures mentioned by Marcos, such as the mention of renewable energy sources and social protection for vulnerable sectors like solo parents. But in the end, on governance and democracy, it was a pretty lame SONA. “Sana may anti-corruption measures at saka yung concern para sa mga iba pang issue tungkol sa governance at saka demokrasya,” she said. Hontiveros is one of only two minority members in the Senate, alongside Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III. (NewsInfo.Inquirer)

eavy flooding hit Nueva Ecija and other provinces after Karding hit Luzon last September 26, 2022. Power supply in the area was also cut while at least two roads were made impassable. “In consideration of the huge damage and destruction sustained by the entire province, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council PDRRMC, headed by Governor Aurelio Umali, recommended the declaration of a state of calamity in the whole province of Nueva Ecija in order that the Calamity Fund of the provincial government and the respective local government units in the province to be utilized to expedite the help and assistance that will be provided to their constituents.”
Man in crowd of supporters Nazisalutes Bongbong’s SONA 2022
An attendee of a gathering of supporters of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was spotted doing the Sieg Heil salute on the day of the first State of the Nation Address. This salute is a popular greeting in Nazi Germany under dictator Adolf Hitler. ABS-CBN News shared pictures of the chief executive’s supporters who gathered along IBP Road near Batasang Pambansa Complex to hold a street concert and watch Marcos’ SONA last July 2022. Among the images shared by the news outlet featured a male attendee extending his arm in a salute popular during Hitler’s time. A couple of years(?) ago actor Mel Gibson was also photographed executing a stiff Nazi salute to then president Donald Trump.
The Heil Bongbong man also held a collage that included Bongbong’s father, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr, the “UniTeam” alliance logo, the Japanese imperial rising sun flag and Hitler himself with the Nazi flag behind him.
The text “Sieg Heil!” (“Hail Victory”) was also written on the collage. (Philippine Star)

Why Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle is a leading papal contender
Persistent rumors that Pope Francis would resign because of old age and various infirmities, including a recent colon surgery, have fueled speculations on who the next leader of the Roman Catholic Church would be.
All bets appear to be on Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, former Manila archbishop, who heads the very important Dicastery for Evangelization, and is the third most important figure in the Holy See after Pope Francis and Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the secretary of state.
Tagle’s various Vatican positions, including being head of Caritas Internationalis, the Vatican’s foremost charity and disaster relief agency, have made him a global figure as well.
Being appointed by Pope Francis to several offices has been widely seen as the Pope’s way of grooming his successor, that is, if he were following the example of his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, who renounced the papacy in 2013.
Benedict, who said he could no longer cope with the mental and physical demands of the world’s biggest Christian denomination, abdicated his post when he was 85. Francis turned 85 on Dec. 17 last year.
In July, before making an apostolic visit to Canada, Pope Francis denied he was resigning soon. But he revived speculations when it was announced he would visit L’Aquila in Central Italy to open the “Holy Door” of the Basilica of Santa Maria Collaggio, where Celestine V is buried.
Opening the “Holy Door is part of the annual Feast of Forgiveness, which Celestine V himself instituted.
Pope Benedict XVI visited the tomb when he went to L’Aquila in 2009 to inspect the quake damage. After prayer, he left his pallium, the papal stole, atop the tomb. Years later, in February 2013, the significance of this symbolic gesture became apparent to many Catholics when Benedict gave up the “munus Petrinum” (Petrine ministry) that jolted the world.
New cardinals
Would Pope Francis’ opening of the “Holy Door” be a similar indication of what may lie ahead?
Incidentally, Pope Francis’ Aug. 28 visit to L’Aquila comes a day after the consistory names 21 new cardinals from 16 countries. The College of Cardinals now

Global figure
However, Tagle’s Rome stint will still enable him to acquire greater fluency in Italian and other Romance languages, so he could burnish his global credentials: the Pope after all is an international figure.
Prior to his Propaganda Fide appointment, Tagle was made head of Caritas Internationalis. As such, he has been to disaster hot spots around the world, becoming a familiar figure in what Pope Francis has called the “Church of the peripheries.” Caritas has become Tagle’s global platform.
consists of 208 cardinals, 117 of them electors — those who have yet to reach the age of 80 — and 91 nonelectors. In his 1996 apostolic constitution, Universi Dominici Gregis, Pope John Paul II put the maximum number of cardinal-electors at 120. By Aug. 27, there would be 229 Cardinals, of whom 131 are electors who are eligible to vote and be elected.
Because he is promoting the “Church of the peripheries,” Pope Francis has elevated bishops of minority churches in the Far East as cardinals, thus increasing their number as cardinal-electors.
Last June, he announced he would name 21 new cardinals, five of whom are from Asia: former Seoul Archbishop Lazarus Heu Yeung-sik, prefect of the Dicastery for the Clergy; Goa-Daman Archbishop Felipe Neri Ferrao; and Hyderabad Archbishop Anthony Poola from India; Dili Archbishop Virgilio do Carmo da Silva, SDB from East Timor, and Singapore Archbishop William Goh. In previous consistories, the Pope had made cardinals of bishops from Burma, Brunei, Indonesia, Iraq, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Thailand and Vietnam.
Because Pope Francis is Argentinian, the next pope is widely expected to come from the “new world” and not from Old Europe. This means the Americas (South, not North), Asia and Africa.
Touted to have the best chances of becoming pope, according to the Catholic Herald of London, are Cardinal Tagle and Cardinal Péter Erdö, the archbishop of Esztergom-
Budapest in Hungary.
As immediate former metropolitan archbishop of Manila, the most important See in the Far East, Tagle is the most prominent cardinal-elector and a leading papabile.
Italian restoration
But aside from the southward drift in electing the pope, other geopolitical factors may come into play. One is that the pope is supposed to be the Bishop of Rome and the successor of Peter who was martyred in the Eternal City.
In past decades, there have been calls within the Italian Church of restoring the papacy to the Italians, especially since Pope John Paul II is Polish and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI is German.
The first pope from the Americas, Pope Francis, was Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, an Argentinian of Italian descent, who was elected in the conclave of 2013. To some extent, his election was an “Italian restoration.”
So between Tagle and Erdö, the former definitely has an edge because, aside from being Asian, he’s been based in Rome since 2019 after being appointed head of the Sacred Congregation of the Evangelizations of Peoples, the former Propaganda Fide, and now revamped as the Dicastery for Evangelization.
What may hobble Tagle’s chances is his lack of fluency in Italian and even Spanish, the language of the biggest Church in the world, betraying his thoroughly “Americanized” education at the Loyola School of Theology of the Jesuits in Quezon City and the Catholic University of America in Washington.
After the G-20 meeting in 2020, Cardinal Tagle called for debt forgiveness for poor nations. “The international debt of the poorest countries in Africa, some parts of Latin America and Asia, has had major social and economic consequences,” he said. “Pope Francis has consistently urged that the debt be canceled to give those countries the possibility to pursue paths of recovery and development.”
As head of the Propaganda Fide, Tagle is in charge of Catholic missions around the world, mostly in the Third World. He is also grand chancellor of the Pontifical Urbaniana University, which trains missionaries.
Statistics published on World Mission Sunday on Oct. 24, 2021, showed there are 1,117 dioceses, missions, and other ecclesiastical divisions dependent on the Propaganda Fide. Most are located in Africa (517) and Asia (483), followed by the Americas (71) and Oceania (46).
The former Manila archbishop is also a member of other important Vatican offices, such as the Dicastery for Catholic Education and Culture; Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life; Dicastery for the Oriental Churches; Dicastery for Legislative Texts; Dicastery for Inter-Religious Dialogue; Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See, and the Cardinal Commission for the Supervision of the Institute for the Works of Religion.
All of these appointments have made Tagle a Vatican insider and an honorary Roman. (Complete text: https://newsinfo. inquirer.net/1646122/why-tagleis-a-leading-papal-contender?utm_ source=gallery&utm_ medium=direct)

Congressman Bienvenido Abante wants to abolish the
COMMISSION ON GOOD GOVERNMENT
PCGG
Congressman Bienvenido
Abante has filed a bill seeking to scrap the Presidential Commission of Good Government (PCGG), a Cory Aquino-formed agency tasked with recovering billions of dollars in wealth plundered during the rule of Ferdinand Marcos Sr., the current president’s late father, arguing that it has “outlived its usefulness.”
Since 1986, the PCGG has since retrieved about $5 billion from the Marcos family, but about $2.4 billion is still caught up in litigation. The commission was established a few days after the elder Marcos fled a popular uprising against his two decades of decadent rule at the helm of what many historians consider one of Asia’s most famous
kleptocracies.
“If after that long period of time, they failed to establish whether the sequestered assets are ill-gotten or not and who are the owners of these assets, they will not be able to do so even if we would give it another hundred years,”
Congressman Abante said.
During election campaigning, the Marcos family insisted its vast fortune was legitimately
obtained and the commission was merely an “anti-Marcos agency.” Part of the billions recovered has been used to compensate thousands of victims of state brutality during the notorious 1970s martial law era of the late Marcos.
An attempt to abolish the commission in 2018 was vetoed by the previous president, but the latest effort is unlikely to face resistance, with Marcos Jr. commanding a legislative super-majority. His cousin is lower house speaker, his son is a congressman and his sister a senator, underlining the power and influence still wielded by the Marcos family, decades after its humiliating retreat.
The president’s press secretary did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the bill. Opposition Akbayan party-list vowed to block it, calling it “an attempt to abolish the country’s sense of justice and history.”

What the PCGG has recovered so far
As of 2019, the PCGG has recovered more than 171 billion of ill-gotten wealth from the Marcoses and from Marcos cronies since its creation in 1986. Some of this came from money sequestered by the PCGG or surrendered under various compromise agreements, and some of it came from the sale of various surrendered or sequestered properties
By the time Ferdinand Marcos was inaugurated president in 1965, he had already served three terms as Congressman for the second district of Ilocos Norte to the Philippine House of Representatives, and then served in the Philippine senate from 1959 to 1965, eventually becoming Senate President before winning the 1965 Philippine Presidential Election. He remained President for 21 years despite the eight year (two four year terms) limitation set
by the 1935 Constitution of the Philippines by placing the country under Martial Law in 1972. Marcos’ rule after his 1972 declaration of Martial Law was characterized by numerous human rights abuses while the Marcoses became known for an increasingly decadent lifestyle, until the collapse of the Philippine economy in 1983 and the assassination of opposition senator Benigno Aquino Jr. finally led to the Marcoses being deposed by the 1986 People Power revolution and exiled to Hawaii.
Statements of Assets filed by Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos from 1966 to 1986, showed that they had earned combined salaries worth P2,319,583.33 ($304,372.43 based on prevailing exchange rates at that time). But documents discovered in the Malacañang Palace showed that they had accumulated US$5 billion to US$10 billion worth of cash and assets spread across the globe. (Wikipedia)

PRESIDENTIAL
Dept. of Justice wants Leila De Lima to stay in jail
Despite the retraction of its own witness’ accusation against De Lima, the Department of Justice under the administration of Bongbong Marcos wants Duterte critic Leila De Lima to stay in jail. Government witness Rafael Ragos, who recanted his statements linking former Sen. Leila de Lima to drug trafficking last April 2022, was prevented by prosecution lawyers from affirming his retraction on the witness stand when he appeared in court last September 30.
Five months since signing his recantation and announcing it to the media, former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) officer in charge Rafael Ragos appeared at the Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court (RTC) supposedly to affirm his April 30 affidavit.
In his retraction, Ragos said he was just coerced by then Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II and his subordinates into testifying that De Lima received payoffs from convicted drug lords at New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
Accompanied by his lawyer, Michael de Castro, Ragos spent only an hour in the sala of Muntinlupa RTC Branch 204 Judge Abraham Joseph Alcantara, who is hearing one of the two remaining drug cases against De Lima.
Detained since 2017, the former senator, human rights commission chair and justice secretary has denied the charges, dismissing them as mere political vendetta for her criticism of then President Rodrigo Duterte’s bloody antidrug campaign and his human rights record as Davao City mayor.
The trial is closed to the media. Speaking to reporters after Friday’s hearing, De Castro said the Department of Justice (DOJ) filed on Thursday a motion for reconsideration (MR) on an earlier court
order that would have allowed Ragos to take the stand.
The court granted the MR and gave the defense lawyers five days to comment. The next two hearings on De Lima’s Criminal Case No. 17-165 were set for Oct. 28 and Nov. 4.
In their six-page MR, the DOJ panel led by Provincial Prosecutor Ramoncito Bienvenido Ocampo Jr. argued that “recantations are typically viewed with suspicion and hardly given much weight.”
They said Ragos’ court
In his retraction, prosecution witness Rafael Ragos said he was coerced by then Justice Secretary
Vitaliano Aguirre II and his subordinates into testifying that Leila De Lima received payoffs from convicted drug lords at New Bilibid Prison (NBP)
testimonies on June 7, 14, and 28, 2019, were consistently repeated when he appeared in Congressional hearings, like when the Senate tackled the issue of good conduct time allowance for prisoners entitled to early liberty in September 2019.
“Obviously, Mr. Ragos’ alleged recantation is nothing but an afterthought. The timeliness and circumstances of the alleged recantation is clearly suspect and even amounts to perjury,” they said.
Calling back Ragos to the stand would be “procedurally erroneous” and “will only make a mockery of justice under the circumstances considering that he is a perjured witness and recantations are untrustworthy and frowned upon in our jurisdiction.”

Reigning Queen
for 70 years and 214 days, it’s the end of Elizabethan era.
Queen Elizabeth had the longest reign of any British Monarch and the longest reign of any female sovereign in history. Our generation had known Queen Elizabeth wherever you are around the world.
Up until her death, her service was not only to the British people and commonwealth nations, but the world to see how she was loved. On this issue of People Focus, it’s a sharing of experience of how we did to give our last respect.
Lying-in-State Queue: Our 11 hour Queue on 17th of September, from Southwark Park to Westminster Palace Hall to pay our respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. It’s historical slow and long walk of a lifetime for my friend Liza and I, so we did what most people have to do, enjoy and savour most of it, together with the new friends we’ve met - Nana and Granddaughter from Doncaster, Couples from Ipswich and Peterborough.
Our small group protectively looked after each other to maintain our place in the queue with every break we needed on those hours - Liza and I won with the most numbers of break as we made sure we were well hydrated, lunch and dinner break, regular muscle stretches and few extra breaks.
We were grateful for those home owners, community and groups who opened their homes and establishments for extra toilets (there are portable loos too), and served teas, coffees and water along the way. We had the chance to see the inside of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre as they opened for comfort break.

physically tired as expected but had that feeling that we were part of that significant history of the Elizabethan era, and we gave back something to the queen for her service. It made us happy and proud, so we decided to go back and be in that London ambiance for the funeral.
State Funeral:
19th of September, Millions of people around the world watched the live telecast, radio coverage and social media. I was there with the crowd together with my friends Liza and Nova along the Constitution Hill. We were standing at the Green Park side with the view of Buckingham Palace across the road. We have seen it all! The regiments from all over the world, the royal family, the servicemen and women, and soaked that beautiful ambiance at the Green Park Constitution Hill. Everything can be seen on worldwide coverage, but for us to be there with the crowd and that special time of history means a lot.

JHERMY : What is your memorable experience being a member / backing vocals for SALUNGGUHIT ?
From backup to chanteuse European Leaders Forum
Interview with Jerie Dada
A familiar face in the Filipino British community, from a low profile, quiet type to trendy vlogging lass always with a smile and energy that she always takes with her whenever she is around.
Back in 2014, where I first met her in a music project by our dear departed friend in music
ORLY CARBUNGCO – BANGON
PILIPINAS where Filipino singers in London gathered to record this song and music video dedicated to the victims of a devastating storm in the Philippines.
She became more active in the community events which eventually earned her a position as the female back up vocalist of SALUNGGUHIT. The band ORLY CARBUNGCO formed and they released a full length album entitled KAY SARAP BALIKAN which was launched back in May 2015.
Fast forward to 2022, from being a back up vocalist, now she has released her own songs in digital platforms and has also earned the title : D ROCK CHIC DIVA QUEEN. Composer and FAMAS AWARDEE RUSTY MALLILLIN composed the song SUPER DIVA QUEEN which was released and launched at the TARA HOTEL earlier this year.
Looks like our D ROCK CHIC DIVA QUEEN is not just in for 1 but now had also released her 2nd song, this time her own composition which was arranged by master arranger RITCHIE RAMOS ( a multi-instrumentalist and bass player of the famous GARY VALENCIANO in the Philippines and a very in demand arranger for Filipino musicians living in UK ).
On top of all these, JERIE DADA has her own Youtube UK Talk Show called VISIONARIES 101, a direct selling entrepreneur for a multi-billion skin care and anti-aging US company and has set up her own award giving label PEOPLE’S CHAMPIONS GLOBAL AWARDS.
To know her more, here is our interview with JERIE DADA : JHERMY : When and how did you start becoming involved in the Filipino community ? JERIE : In 2011, I joined the band called Salungguhit. Orly Carbungco was the band vocalist of the Salungguhit who introduced me to the community and that’s where I met the PMUK and from then on we started playing everywhere. At the same time, I also perform as a soloist and that’s were they gave me the name D’rock Chic Jerie Dada
everytime i performed in the PMUK events and any events where I performed.
JHERMY : What kept you active all these years in the Filipino community ?
JERIE : I am always involved in the community ever since when i was a kid, until i grew up doing what the passion i have. I love seeing people happy and enjoying listening to music, especially with my family , friends and the people who inspires me so much about sharing what i love to do. They motivate me to keep me going until now.
JHERMY : What made you decide to finally embark into recording your own songs ?
JERIE : I made my own compositions ever since I started to get involved in the community in 2011. I couldn’t really get the opportunity who can help me to arrange my own songs even before. I asked some of the musicians here but I couldn’t find anyone who exactly knows how to arrange it for me. But then when Sir Rusty Mallillin discovered my voice, my performances last December 2019. He called me after my performance that time saying Jerie you can be the Super Diva in London and he said I will compose a song for you called Super Diva Queen. I was so surprised and amazed of what he said to me because we was really serious about what he thought about. So after 3 days the song was made and we started to see each other to materialised and to familiarise the song. I went to studio to finalise the song and record it so well without problems at all. It was processed within 3 months and it’s so amazing gift from God to me because it was finished the whole thing during my
Birthday Concert last March 2022. So I ended up launching a song with full of happiness with full confidence to perform it well with all the dancers involved. I considered it as my precious birthday present during that time. What a beautiful gift from God that I’ll ever recieve from Sir Rusty Mallillin, the composer of The Super Diva Queen. Then followed my own song composition called “Too Much To Take” just released in all digital platforms last July 15, 2022. I will be launching my 3rd song on Oct 2022.
JHERMY : Challenges and difficulties you encountered during the recording and releasing of your songs ?
JERIE : Challenges was on how to hit the notes in certain level and the difficulties was actually the lower voice when I started singing. Hahaha because The Super Diva Queen begins at a very lower range but apart from that it was smoothly recorded perfectly.
JHERMY : How important is having your own title like Rock Chic Diva in the Community?
JERIE : For me it’s amazing to know that the community has given me a title that i didn’t even expect about it and i didn’t even realised that it was a huge help and important to have a title given by the people who really can see Jerie Dada from the start on how i portrayed myself becoming a Rock Chic Diva. I don’t have any idea back then why they called me Rock Chic at my Diva pa kakaiba ito! I think it was a calling for me… And It’s so lovely to know that they call my name Jerie Dada with the Rock Chic Diva “titled” in it. I came to realise that the advantage is that people can easily remember me with that title, It was nice!!! Thank you so much beautiful people in the
JERIE : My memorable experience being a member of Salungguhit was that on how to face the trials within a band and the commitment was very important and chemistry to each one of the members, the love and support that they gave to each other was such an amazing experience for me in the group, the bondings like we are truly brothers and sisters. It was very sad moment when Kuya Orly passed away, everybody felt devastated after all we built our band group our master died in 2015.
JHERMY : Tell us more about SUPER DIVA QUEEN, how it matched who Jerie Dada is ?
JERIE : The Super Diva Queen tells us about the personality of who’s Jerie Dada is in the song. It also emphasised the way she interacts to everyone and in fact it tells more how bubbly she is in the crowd. In the song they called me Jerie Brown to jive it to the rhythm.
JHERMY : Why the song title TOO MUCH TO TAKE ?
JERIE : I wrote the song during my darkest moment of my life and that’s when i was depressed about about myself, I thought no one will stay but then I realised that God is good WHO is there WHO has given me a special person who is truly the one. The one who will be there for you to comfort you no matter what!
JHERMY : Tell us more about People’s Champion Global Awards.
JERIE : PCGA is all about the appreciations to those people in the community who gave difference to the world. For me giving this prestigious award from the bottom of my heart who deserves to be awarded are those people who help me through and giving back to them by saying thank you for what you have done for me. That’s why our slogan is “Praises of Wisdom to all Humanitarian Works out of Simplicity, Humility, Unity and Love.
JHERMY : What legacy does Jerie Dada want to leave in the Filipino community ?
JERIE : The legacy that i wanted to leave behind is my worth as person who gave happiness to your face while I’m performing wholeheartedly for everyone, my song and my words that might change the life of others, and my PCGA Award Giving Body. They will always remember me when I am gone. Maraming Salamat po, love JERIE.

I remember one of my vlogs on YouTube that viewed my personal opinion on parents investing in their children when they get old and the latter when they get their jobs. In general, most likely in Asia because of the extended and close family ties as a huge part of the scenario.
I would like to expand that thought that it does not mean anything negative like neglecting the parents when the children finally get the paycheck. Please do not get me wrong. The main
Nursing the Nurse
Your children are not investments

thought is never obliged your children to pay what you as parents did for them as if they owe it to you, in a literal sense. It is the value that we as parents must instill to our children. Of course I will never allow any children to just disregard one of the commandments: Honour Thy Mother and Thy Father. In the modern world where gadgets and internet interactions greatly modify our lifestyles, it is essential to compliment a modernized discipline to meet the level of expectations for both then and now. I was never against children taking in their parents to be under the same roof, instead providing them the value of nurturing them back when you know they need and when you know that nobody could, whether it
be the home care or the family, as well. The care given back is not the same parents provided when the obligation is mainly the reason why they must. And me as a parent, I would never like that happening to me.
That the only reason why my kids are keeping me is the obligation. If you instill the value of love, care, faith and trust to name a few, our children will never have that second thought of carrying a heavy load, instead expressing that there is a need to nurture back the parents because at this stage of life, they are limited in physical capabilities and abilities, and are vulnerable to strong stimuli. And in relation to the Teachers’ Month, may this be a gentle reminder that parents like me are the first teachers
our children will learn from.
Nobody ever said teaching life is easy but if we all agree to pair these actions with love and emotions, our children will never need any explanation why they have to care for someone who slips on the floor from running late for work or be that good friend or be that good member of the group. We invest in humanitarian action instead of tasks at a certain age. Some would be able to easily grasp the simple need of nature to be nurtured while some needs deeper conversation and motivation. In simple words, teach our children not to suppress their feelings for them to remember how good it is to treat the parents like our loving wings during our times of learning.

“Daddy, I want to go home now.”
“Where are you going my baby?”
“I want to ---” Hindi na naituloy ng bata ang nais sabihin.
“Let’s go home darling. Let your dad speak to your teacher.”
“Huwag!” Pananggi ni Rico.
“Nais kitang makausap Corine, please.”

“O, Clarence.” Bati ng dalaga sa pinsang sundalo.
May tawag sa kampo mula sa Tawi-tawi. “Ate, nais kang makausap ni Lt. Jake Miranda raw?”
“Ah oo,” Sabay tingin kay Rico.
“Sampa ka na ate at tatawag daw siya muli…”
Dumilim ang mukha ni Rico sa kanyang mga narinig.
“Sige na Rico. Relax lang, alam kong mahal ka ni Glenda. Mahalin mo rin siya kagaya ng pagmamahal na inukol mo sa akin. Magpakatatag ka. Be strong enough to take the chances in life. Okay?”
“God please bless her.” Taimtim niyang dasal habang nakatinghad sa kalangitan.
“021-845 SOWESCOM (South Western Command) Over?”
“Yes 121-850 Camp Vicente Lim. Subject captured, over?” Miranda,” patuloy niya. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you Corine…”
Samantala…
“Why are you so sad, daddy?”
“I’m not darling. I just don’t feel well.”
“Ha? Are you serious?”
“Oo!”
Hinarap nito ang anak.
“I think we have to cut short our vacation, darling?”
“But I want it here, daddy?”
I like going to school and I also like my teacher Corine.”
But don’t you miss your books and your video tapes?”
“I do! I also miss watching The Little Mermaid , Lion King, and Ninja Turtles.”
“And of course your toys!”

Let’s celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali
Diwali is the Hindu festival of Lights, which is celebrated with fireworks, decoration and feasting on the 25th of October 2022. Diwali is a celebration of joy, wealth, and the triumph of good over evil, of knowledge over ignorance, and of hope over despair. It is the greatest and most lavish celebration in the Hindu calendar. The holiday is observed in traditional fashion over five days, however most Hindus concentrate on the third day. The holiday is celebrated differently in each location. They attend temples or host worship services at their residences. To foster friendships and keep in mind the sweetness, they share candies or sweets with friends, neighbours,

and co-workers. They let go of their resentment and any reservations. A joyous event is particularly grouporiented. Open minds, open hearts, and open doors are more important. They light fireworks and invite their non-Hindu neighbours to partake in the celebration while also
participating in times of spiritual reflection. They place Diwali Diyas, which are little lamps traditionally constructed of clay with cotton wool used as the wick and ghee or oil as the fuel, in windows or on balconies. They value light because it stands for goodness. In order to ward off evil and darkness, candles are lit throughout the day and into the night. So let us unite and use the light we already possess to spread happiness among each other, in our neighbourhoods, and all throughout the world. For this month’s issue, I conducted an interview with two confident, savvy and smart individuals from United Kingdom and United States of America. The first is Miss Julia

Why is light important in Diwali?
Light symbolizes keeping away from spiritual darkness. Indian homes light a row of candle lights outside as a way to radiate inner light. It truly is a fascinating holiday!
If you could have any talent in the world, what would it be and why?
Being a first generation Filipino American, I love Filipino Folk Dancing! Introduction, name, age, educational background
Hello, my name is Julia Kedziora and I am 14. I was born in Poland from polish parents but live in London. I am currently in year 9. Please share to us your Pageant Journey
As a model, I have attended many shows, sometimes I saw models coming in with crowns and sashes they had won, and I wanted to win a beautiful crown as well. I started with charity pageants. I thought it would be nice to support charities at the same time and have the chance to meet some of my friends over there. When I started, we were under lockdowns because of the pandemic; so many organisations were deciding to do pageant online, which I think it was a really great idea. It was so difficult time for everyone but we could have something to cheer us up and then again still support charities.
I have taken part in so many fashion shows for example House of Ikons organised by Savita Kaye, or ChabsUK organised by Ronnie Jacobs. There was many more a bit smaller but mainly to support charities. I had the opportunity to wear so many, different types of clothes, from casual outfits to gowns. By showcasing them and modelling for some designers very often, I had the privilege be the face of these brands. One it use to be Love Collection- Vietnamese designs and the other was Ethnicroyals- African designs. Thanks to being on catwalks during the fashion, shows I was featured in some national and international magazines for example World Fashion Media News International Magazine from USA, London Runway Magazine, FabUk Teen Magazine or Thieunien from Vietnam.
I also used to model for many photographers, and my photos were used in their personal projects. How should we prepare for going to an agency for the first time? Any advice?
I remember myself when I was really young and went for the first time for audition. I was a bit stressed, as I did not know what to exactly expect.
It was actually very nice over there, nothing scary. It was full of more kids, one of them who I am still friends with today. I had to prepare a monologue, which I was saying in front of the talent agents, other kids and to the camera. Going to an agency, you definitely have to be yourself, be positive and keep smiling. After my audition, I was offered the place but sometimes it does not end successfully, then we have to not give up, listen to the
I wanted to be an actress first, and as I got into that modelling started to be a big part of it- such as doing photo shoots for portfolios.
What are your hobbies or interests outside of modelling?
I like reading and art, going horse riding and looking after animals.
Tell me about your biggest modelling accomplishment.
It is really difficult for me to say as everything I have done taught me something, gave me opportunity to do another thing, meet so many people, friends with who I have contact until now left some beautiful or funny memories.
I really appreciate and cherish every single moment I could spend front of camera or at the catwalk. I were never after the biggest, world top designers or photographers but those who I had the chance to work they are the number one for me and actually they are known in many countries, not only in UK- photographer Dani Geddes or designer Adrianna Ostrowska who’s
I love all designers especially those who I had the chance to model for. I know how hard job they do to create each outfit but the closest to my heart is Adrianna Ostrowska; she is also from Poland like me. She is a hardworking, dedicated, creative and enthusiastic person with a huge heart.
Why is Diwali celebrated?
Diwali is the festival of lights, which celebrates the return of deities Rama, and Sita after their exile, and how Rama defeated the evil spirit Ravana. It is also the day the Goddess Lakshmi was born and many people honour her on that day, lighting lamps to help her find her way to their homes.
What is the real message of Diwali?
The true meaning of Diwali is victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.
If you could grow anything in the garden, what would it be?
I would grow fruit trees, so that in a couple years when it is grown I could eat them and share with lots of people.
What would you do if you made the rules at home?
I would go to sleep and wake up whenever I want, and I would not have to do any chores. What do you want to be when you grow up?
When I grow up, I would like to be a lawyer. I am preparing myself for GCSE at the moment, and I have chosen subjects that will be helpful in the future.
We believe that amazing things happen when you inspire others, how do you lead and inspire people.
I think my whole journey I had with modelling and acting can inspire others that if you really want something and believe in it, you can achieve it. No matter where you come from.
Through organizing food in the food pantry, food drives, and public speaking events, I realized it is fulfilling and rewarding as we put smiles on children’s faces and realize I have a meaningful purpose in life. As the President of the non-profit Organization, the Kind Mouse, I am a leader and mentor for the Mice in Training and social media coordinator. Our mission is to let no hardworking individual go hungry while developing the next generation of volunteers. Starting in 2019, I was hesitant when it comes to volunteer service. Now I teach kids ages 5-12 public speaking skills, how to be grateful, and the meaning of a kind heart. We filled over 3,100 every week in 2021. In the last nine years, we have fed half a million tummies. The Kind Mouse has given me the opportunity to spread my Grandpa’s legacy and to make an impact on this world! As the next generation, we are the future leaders and the Kind Mouse is preparing us for a better tomorrow. Knowing that I am making a difference in the lives of children or making a true impact warms my heart.
You are currently the USA National Miss Florida’s Miss Tampa
Bay; tell us about your pageant journey?
Starting out as a timid young girl, I had big dreams but was afraid to show my true self, as I was scared I would be judged negatively. Overtime, I learned to get comfortable with being uncomfortable and the runway is like my second home. From a girl who could not wait to get off the stage to someone who can speak passionately with confidence is a vital skill for the future. I discovered the hidden potential within myself and discovered my love for sharing stories and volunteerism. I knew this journey would not be easy but it made me dig deep into myself to figure out what I enjoy and to know who I am inside and out. Many coaching sessions, appearances, and being active in my community are truly, what I love most. Why do people celebrate Diwali?
Although I am not involved in Hinduism, I have very close friends who celebrate Diwali, which is a festival that celebrates victory of light over darkness. It is a great time for family to spend time together and
Expression of Gratitude
What are you most passionate about right now?
To cook! My grandpa used to make the most delicious pandesal and mashed potatoes! The patience, exact measurements, and the ability to not burn or cut yourself in the process just amazes me! I believe everyone can achieve every talent but without persistence, we may never know what we could accomplish.
Scientists from The University of Manchester and The University of Glasgow, have provided more insight into the possibility of establishing a pathway to generate oxygen for humans to potentially call the Moon or Mars ‘home’ for extended periods of time, what are your own views about it?
Right now, it is best to focus on handling Earth in the midst of climate change, pollution, and world hunger. Since it is not set in stone as a 100% possibility, there are still numerous risks involved but we should still prepare for a catastrophic event on Earth to prevent extinction.
What would you do tomorrow if it were your last day on Earth?
I would call everyone I love and give them a heartfelt message of what they mean to me and spend
“Growth is painful but nothing is as painful as staying in the same place.” I remember being so scared of making mistakes and constantly trying to seek validation through likes on Instagram and impressing others through my outward appearance. I realized that you will never be perfectly ready or prepared for anything. It is all about falling forward, making mistakes, and growing through experiences. After many 1st runner up titles, I kept having hope and never lost sight of my “why.” Sometimes we put invisible walls in front of ourselves blocking us from unleashing our full potential. If you do not try, you will never know what might have happened if you did so might as well take that leap of faith! Not everyone is going to like you but as long as you believe in yourself and stay true to who you are and not what others expect you to be, your life will change for the better.
How can you inspire others in your own little way?

Filipina Scientist in the United Kingdom Part 26:
T
his year, the commemoration of the declaration of Martial Law by then President Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sr. marks its 50th anniversary. Five decades had passed yet the memory remains clear and the sentiments alive. The Martial Law period and the days leading up to it until the EDSA People Power Revolution in 1986 remains one of the most controversial historical and political topics among Filipinos with differing perspectives and opinions.
Yet, one factor is largely overlooked in the discussion–that of the major role played by the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) at that time, in most events leading to the declaration of Martial Law and everything after it.
In the decades following the Second World War, the world was in political turmoil and on the brink of nuclear war.
On the larger scale, two hegemonies--the US and the Soviet Union--were in the middle of the Cold War where not only the nuclear threat was feared, but as well as the spread of communism. This culminated in the victory of Mao Zedong and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in China, which inspired various communist movements in Asia, including Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines, among many others.
At the same time, student activism was rampant worldwide, especially in the 1960s with the women’s and gay rights movement and the anti-war movement in the US. The Philippines was definitely not spared by the waves of political upheavals abroad. CPP founder Jose Maria Sison, ever the opportunist, used the political fervor in his favor to re-establish a communist movement in the Philippines and find a way to seize political power. The CPP-NPA back then were no different than the communist terrorists of today, relying on the support of the masses, and focusing on organizing a large cross-section of the Philippine society exploiting relevant national issues.
Their end goal has remained unchanged then as it believed wholeheartedly that an armed and bloody revolution is necessary in seizing political power, and nothing will stop them from doing so. This belief was prominently manifested during the devastating bombing of Plaza Miranda on August 21, 1972, which was perpetrated by the CPP-NPA, with Sison himself as mastermind. Several accounts of Central Committee members and other ranking officers of the CPP-
50 Years since Martial Law Years of Communist Terror
NPA revealed that Sison believed that the communist revolution was imminent but was in dire need of a well-timed and traumatic incident to spark an upheaval where the people will rally against the Marcos administration.
He aspired for what he called a “split between the ruling class to the point that they are going to kill each other”, and the opportunity of a political rally at the Plaza Miranda by the opposition party, the Liberal Party (LP), presented that opportunity.
By bombing Plaza Miranda, Sison foresaw that the LP will blame its bitter rival, Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sr. as the perpetrator, which will influence the Filipino people to see Marcos as a cruel and evil dictator, a devious plan known only to select CPP-NPA cadres. In the evening of August 21, 1972, CPP-NPA cadre Danny Cordero and two accomplices threw three grenades at the stage in Plaza Miranda where LP candidates were speaking.
The aftermath saw nine dead and more than a hundred more wounded.
Just as Sison predicted, the bombing solidified the LP to oppose Marcos while public outrage turned to Marcos as the perpetrator. Many of those who lost trust in the government fell victim to propaganda and were eventually recruited to take arms against the government, bolstering the CPP-NPA ranks and enabling them to spread, not only in Metro Manila, but in the provinces as well. Sison had expected arms supply from Communist China to arm the new recruits, but three attempts to smuggle armaments into the country failed, including the shipment using MV Karagatan, which former President Marcos, Sr. used as one of the justifications in declaring Martial Law.
The Plaza Miranda bombing and several political upheavals, especially in Mindanao, all led to the declaration of Martial Law on September 23, 1972 by then President Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sr. While many say that the communist threat stated in the rationale of the implementation of Martial Law was grossly overestimated, the events following the declaration up to today show that this rationale was not unfounded, and the Martial Law has indeed served its purpose of stemming the communist insurgency.
Although its political apparatus at the time of the martial law declaration
By Alex Gonzales
was not given primary importance over its armed wing, the CPP used propaganda in molding public sentiment against the government and exploited the martial law declaration as a means to recruit and bolster their ranks. Many fell victims to the CPPNPA narrative of fear-mongering that the only option for reform-minded Filipinos was to join the CPP-NPA or opt for no involvement at all. Many were forced to join the communist underground who were neither politically or ideologically prepared, and only wanted to show some form of protest and even those who do not believe in the purpose and goals of the Communist Party.
However, this piece of history is more often ignored given that not much attention as accounts of the devious plan of the CPP-NPA in the Plaza Miranda bombing had not surfaced until recently. Even the main perpetrators of the bombing who could have given first-hand accounts on the plot were already silenced by the CPP-NPA. Sison himself continues to deny his involvement in masterminding the bombing despite several accounts of former top CPPNPA officials on his involvement.
The bombing is a clear account of how the CPP-NPA, much like the CTG at present, will go to lengths of using violence and death to pursue its objectives while on the outside, projecting to be an organization fighting for justice and fairness.
Unfortunately, many Filipinos still lay victim to the lies and deception of the CTG. After 54 years, the CTG still rely on its martial law narrative in its mass organizing efforts and continue to deceive Filipinos by manipulating social issues and using them as fuel to garner support. It forms alliances with the political opposition and like-minded powerful individuals whom it exploits to spew attacks and criticisms on everything the government does, regardless of who is in power, not to effect meaningful and lasting reforms but clearly, to erode the people’s trust in the government to realize its main goal of rallying the Filipinos to join its brand of terrorism creatively masked as an “armed revolution”.
In the last 54 years, the CTG consistently attempted to agitate and mobilize people in various sectors – exploiting the LP’s rivalry with Marcos in the past and continuously
using its martial law narrative up to the present – to fan discontent and rage among the people and push them to seek reforms through violent means. But in the end, the CTG never succeeded. At the most crucial moments, they slipped up and failed to seize power from then President Corazon Aquino. Five decades later, the CPP-NPA-NDF barely stands on its frail legs. With sustained efforts by the government, especially through the National Task Force to End the Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), there is a light at the tunnel in the challenge of ending the country’s longest running scourges.
As such, with the commemoration of 50 years since the declaration of martial law, it is worthwhile to be reminded that while there may be some questions during the martial law that we may not find answers to for various reasons, but there are already answers that had long been placed before us but many simply chose to ignore. But there is hope as the country, the government, and the people are now seeing more clearly the machinations and deceit of the CTG. And it is now becoming apparent that the heightened awareness of the Filipino people on the malady that CTG was and continues to be will spur their enthusiastic participation in the campaign to end insurgency and the will serve as the last nail that will finally drive the coffin of the CTG.
It is only through the whole-ofnation approach, the participation of every Juan, that the CTG will not prosper in its divisive and ruthless goal of taking over the reins of government and catapulting a communist government. Much like five decades ago, the future of the Philippine nation is in the hands of every Filipino. Supporting the NTFELCAC means supporting more than a political opinion, more than “red-tagging” and political games by wayward politicians, but ensuring better lives for those who remain affected and are still living under the scourge of the CPP-NPA-NDF. It is about time that every Filipino stand up for the victims of manipulation and exploitation of the CTG, and that every Filipino fight for peace and democracy. If there is one lesson that must be remembered from the martial law is to say never again to the CTG and its violent means. Never again.
Love & Light Charisma
Charisma is a sparkle in people that money can’t buy. It’s an invisible energy with visible effects.”Marianne Williamson Charisma, according to Oxford dictionary is a compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in others and or a divinely conferred power or talent.
Yes, some people seems like born to be one and oozes charisma and charm ever so effortlessly. They walk in the room and sometimes even without uttering a single word, we are already hypnotised. They’re like fresh air or a gentle summers breeze.
But, do you know that being charismatic can actually be learned? Like any other skill we have, all we need is an interest and a little bit practice and you can be charismatic and magnetic. It’s not magic and there’s no mystery behind it.
For this month I’ll take you to some of the charismatic rules that I’ve learned and still learming through the years. I thought these are worth trying and giving a go on how to be one.
“Make People Feel Important”
Make them feel seen, heard and remembered.
Seen. Looking at the eye when talking to someone and giving your full attention when conversing makes people feel that they are
important. Undivided attention is as almost rare in these busy times that is full of distractions.
Heard. Ask good and relevant questions. People like to talk about themselves, it’s our nature. So be interested, not interesting. We learn more by listening not by talking.
Remembered. Remember names and mention their name in conversations. Hearing somebody mentioning their names is music to their ears. It makes it feel personal and intimate. Recall previous encounters and conversations.
“Pause Before Speaking”
Pauses in conversations creates a gap for us to think. It also creates a suspension, creating a sense of anticipation for the listener to pay more attention to what comes next.
Pause in speaking combined with eye contact exudes confidence.
“Hone Your Body Language”
The 7-38-55 Rule.
There are 3 components to face to face conversation as what Albert Mehrabian’s years of research study shows. These are as follows, 7% Words 38% Tonality and Face 55% Body Language Imagine, only 7% is needed if we’re going to rely on words to be an effective communicator? And it’s the massive 55% coming from our body language is what’s more important. This actually explains why even without saying a single word we can
easily sense a persons general vibe. We say more with our body language, gestures and composure.
So it’s true that action speaks more than words.
“Use Humor”
A study of the top Ted Talks found humour is a key ingredient to being charismatic person.
By nature, people are drawn to those who makes them laugh and feel good with the aid of humour. Laughter always brakes the ice in any situation.
Calm down, we don’t need to be a comedian or act silly or be rediculous to be funny. It’s our timings and execution. Here are some easy proven tips on how to make people feel good with humour.
-Give a surprising answer when asked. It’s the one least expected thing that can catch people by surprise.
-Care more than someone predicted. Do the extra mile to be more animated. Exaggerate things.
-Be more specific than necessary. Mention details. Elaborate.
“Don’t Complain and Gossip. Ever.”
Trurthfully, nobody likes to hear moanings and whinnings. Nobody likes to hear compalins isn’t? So why we do we do it? Respectfully standing up for yourself is different in all due respect.
Separate your bad talk about others beacuse people will wonder if you talk badly about them too when they’re not around.
Remember, nothing good comes out with gossips. It doesn’t help anybody in any situation. We can avoid gossips by not participating on it. After all nobody wants to be around with a gossip person.
“The Shadow Rule”
By Mimi Milli
The “shadow” is the part of ourselves that we deemed unacceptable. This is the reason why we hide it deep in our unconscious awareness.
We don’t need to hide our shadow to be accepted by others. If we learn how to channel this shadows for the good, we can benefit from these imperfections. These imperfections is what makes us human and being human means we have flaws. And that’s ok.
Think about the characters we love in the films or television shows. Their flaws makes us love them more. It makes them relatable. Their weaknesses and vulnerability relates to us easily.
Nobody is perfect and once we embraced our imperfections, that is the time we can be truely who we are and the true and authentic us makes us magnetic.
Some of these are easy to learn and some needs a lot of mindfulness to put into actual practice. Being a charismatic person has it’s advantages and it’s not about charming others and to influence people. It’s all about living with more positive outlook in life. It’s about our love and light that we shine that we allow to through that others might find inspirational enough to follow.

How old is your mattress?
Most mattresses should last between 7 and 10 years.
However, there are many variables that can influence mattress lifespan. Foremost exaggerations among them is the answer to the question: “How many mattress marathons have this bed been subjected to?”
And even if the approximations are true, the final answer finally rests in the Original Build Quality of the mattress. The materials used. Plus the weight and sleeping styles of the sleepers.
Of course, mattresses don’t have an explicit “expiration date, but for some people, 7 – 10 years can come on as subjective abbreviation It’s up to the individual to decide when it’s time for a new bed. In William Faulkner’s short story ‘A Rose for Emily, spinster Emily poisoned a repairman and ‘spent’ the next twenty years sleeping next to the corpse, with the heirloom bed none the worse for wear. We grow so accustomed to our beds that we don’t notice a decomposing body next to us for twenty years. But that’s just Faulkner, of the sultry South.
We who are cosmopolitan citizens of the world, rally for the Comfort and Support of Our Mattress comprise the crux of the structure of a sound sleep. Ergo, Bad Beds and Bad Dreams go hand in hand. Like Emily and her boyfriend.
Factors Influencing Mattress Lifespan
While the general guideline is 7 to 10 years, not all mattresses will hold up so well to the tests of time (except, again, Emily).
Several factors contribute to a mattress’s lifespan, including:
1. Materials: The materials used in a mattress’s construction will have a huge impact on its longevity. Materials like latex and high-density polyfoam can last a long time, while low-density polyfoam can wear out much more

recommendations.
The table below summarizes performance and durability ratings for the most popular mattress types.
When to Replace a Mattress
Knowing how long a mattress should last is useful, though ultimately, these are just guidelines. Figuring out when it’s time to replace your mattress is a personal decision that involves several factors. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
Are you sleeping well?
Do you find that you sleep better at hotels or when visiting family?
Does your mattress feel saggy or unsupportive?
Do you wake up with aches and pains?
Do you or your partner toss and turn through the night trying to get comfortable?
Do you feel your partner’s movements at night more than you used to?
Have you noticed an increase in allergies or asthma symptoms?
Has it been 7+ years since you purchased your bed?

2. Original Quality: The quality of your mattress when you originally bought it will have an impact on how long it lasts. A cheap, entry-level mattress will almost certainly wear out quicker than a high-end hybrid mattress. While a higher price tag does not necessarily mean a better product, the general trend is that the more expensive mattresses often have a better quality construction, and tend to last longer.
3. Mattress Type: Is your mattress an all-foam, hybrid, latex, or innerspring bed? The mattress type can substantially affect its longevity. Latex mattresses tend to last the longest, followed by beds
made using high-density memory foams or polyfoams. Lower-density foam beds wear out a bit quicker, as do hybrid models. Traditional innerspring beds generally have the shortest expected lifespan, at approximately five and a half to six and a half years.
4. Sleep Position & Body Weight: The position you sleep in, as well as your body weight, will affect how quickly your mattress wears out. Heavier sleepers may find that their mattresses begin to sag prematurely, while sidesleepers may find excessive sagging around the hips and shoulders.
5. Care Routine: Like most things in life, if you take care of your mattress, it will last longer. Proper mattress care includes routine cleaning, utilizing protective covers, and following manufacturer care guidelines. Some mattresses can be flipped or rotated regularly, but be sure to check the manufacturer’s
If you can answer “yes” to one or more of these questions, it may be time to replace your mattress.
If you’re still sleeping soundly, and your mattress appears to be performing well, then perhaps you can squeeze a few more years out of it. That being said, we recommend replacing your mattress regularly, as it’s absolutely worth the investment in your health and well-being.
Before you go shopping for a new mattress, it’s worthwhile to check the warranty details for your mattress. If an issue you are having with your mattress is covered under the manufacturer’s warranty, it’s possible that you can get your bed repaired or replaced.
If the mattress is not covered under warranty, it’s time to start shopping for a new bed. Generally speaking, buying a mattress online will be the most economical option, though there are also merits to buying a bed in a mattress store

Top 3 Pinoy comfort porridge
Lugaw is indeed an “essential” part of every Filipino home. This was further validated when it made headlines for its inclusion as one of the essential goods during this pandemic.
Lugaw or rice porridge is made up of simple ingredients like rice, ginger, garlic bits, and egg.
Arroz Caldo, on the other hand, is similar to lugaw but has chicken and a more sticky consistency because of the glutinous rice. Arroz Caldo can also be topped with salted egg, garlic bits, ginger, and a bit of calamansi drops.
Goto is lugaw and arroz caldo plus beef innards and tripe and pork rind chicharon tossed in for good measure.
These three are without doubt the top 3 classic Pinoy porridge favorites regardless of the season. Whether you are feeling blue or just a bit under the weather, try these out to warm your tummy. Each bowl would feel like a warm hug enough to cheer you up and make you feel better.
Tip: Lugaw stands can be found in almost every street. That’s how widely popular this dish is. You will find other toppings in the stands like atay and tokwa’t baboy that goes well with your plain order of lugaw.

on 1st October 2022 at Apps Court Farm in the heart of Walton-on-Thames, Surrey. After a heavy downpour the night before, my family and I arrived at the location expecting a fun-filled entertainment. The organisers did not disappoint, and the sun was even shining.
However, as an immigration lawyer, I automatically thought of the visa of the entertainers who came to the UK. “What type was it?”, I wondered. One possible option was that they may have come on a Visitor Visa for a Permitted Paid Engagement.
According to the Home Office official website, you may be able to visit the UK for a paid engagement if you have been invited as an expert in your profession by a UK-based organisation or client. You can visit the UK for up to 1 month and you cannot extend your stay in the UK.
Under this visa, you can be invited and paid by a UKbased organisation or client: - as a professional artist, entertainer or musician - as a professional sportsperson - as a qualified lawyer - to represent a client - to give a lecture or series of lectures - as an academic - to be a student examiner or assessor - as an air pilot examiner
However, you cannot : - do paid work unrelated to your main overseas job or area of expertise - study - live in the UK for extended periods - claim public funds
- pass through the UK to another country (‘in transit’)
- marry or register a civil partnership, or give notice of marriage or civil partnership - you’ll need to apply for a Marriage Visitor visa
You must be able to show that: - you’ve been formally invited by a UK-based organisation to attend a pre-arranged event or other permitted engagement - the event or engagement relates directly to your expertise, qualifications and main job in your home country - you’re 18 or over - you’re visiting the UK for no more than 1 month - you’ll leave the UK at the
You must prepare your invitation and other document and have a passport or travel document to enter the UK. It should be valid for the whole of your stay. You must also have need a formal written invitation from a UK-based organisation.
The invitation letter could be from:
- an organisation in the creative arts or entertainment industries
- a sports organisation, agent or broadcaster - a higher education institution - a research organisation - an aviation training organisation regulated by the UK Civil Aviation Authority - a client, if you’re a lawyer
A Permitted Paid Engagement Visitor visa costs £100 for up to 1 month, and the application is submitted online.
The earliest you can apply is 3 months before you travel.
The rules on what you’ll need to enter the UK may be different if you’re travelling from Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man.
The Dias Team has represented entertainers in the past to come to the UK. Should you have any queries regarding this visa, visit www. diassolicitors.com for free initial virtual consultation.
