{ SYNOPSIS } When Helen discovers her mothers ashes unceremoniously dumped in a biscuit tin, she takes it upon herself to give them a proper burial. A simple story of love, loss and letting go, After Eights looks at three generations of women and the impact they had on each others lives.
{ DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT } Family, death and absurdity are three themes I wanted to explore with After Eights, particularly using my own experiences as inspiration to explore the mother-daughter relationship and how it would be affected by death and letting go. The events in this story might seem absurd but, sometimes, bizarre things do happen and it’s how people choose to handle them that uncovers something within themselves.
