From the President Dear Students and Parents, The Olivet College experience is about students having powerful learning experiences that set them up for a lifetime of professional and personal success, participate in the activities they love, make lasting lifetime friendships, and have fun. Today’s college student has more choices of what kind of college they can attend than ever before. Small, big, private, public, 4-year, 2-year, residential, commuter, in-person, online… the choices and combinations go on and on. This makes choosing the college that’s the “right fit” for you more important than ever. Olivet College stands out among these choices as a small private college committed to providing one of the most diverse student bodies with an opportunity for a comprehensive learning and living experience. In and out of the classroom, highly qualified and experienced faculty are committed to teaching and learning, engaging with students one-on-one and in small groups, and building relationships that will last a lifetime. We also acknowledge that while the learning that happens in the classroom is powerful and important, that much of students’ growth and development is done outside of the classroom as students live, play, and commune within the Olivet College community of learners. I urge you to carefully consider the Olivet College experience as one that might be right for you. Our faculty, staff, and current students will be happy to help you explore the possibilities. I look forward to the possibility of seeing you here next fall as an Olivet College student.

Intensive Learning Term/Civic Engagement/Service
Intensive Learning Term The Intensive Learning Term (ILT) is a unique option that allows students to complete a course in three-and-a-half weeks at the end of the spring semester. By enrolling in only one class during the ILT, students and faculty can pursue special projects on and off campus free of conflicts with other course obligations. Many ILT courses integrate active learning, hands-on activities or travel in the United States and abroad. Past trips have included study in countries such as Australia, England, Italy, Ireland, Jamaica and Spain.
Civic Engagement and Service Opportunities Olivet is committed to the idea that to be a good citizen, you must contribute and offer your talents to society. Our goal is to provide a course-based service project that addresses community needs while at the same time instills in our students the ethic of Education for Individual and Social Responsibility. Throughout the school year, students have the option of volunteering during monthly and annual service trips in the local community or out-of-state.

Student Life
Student Life At Olivet, powerful learning experiences don’t stop when you leave the classroom. We recognize that much of your growth and development happens through the social connections you’ll make, the causes you’ll become involved in and the professional goals you’ll pursue. With more than 40 clubs, 10 professional organizations and 11 Greek societies on campus, you are guaranteed a college experience that goes far beyond career preparation. You’ll learn how to think critically, work with a diverse group of people and appreciate a culture outside of academics. Most importantly, you’ll have fun doing it. Perhaps you seek the camaraderie and physical activity of an intramural sports team, or you want to be the voice of the student body as part of the Student Government Association. Maybe you want to be part of a society of professionals in the industry you’ll soon be working in, or perhaps the excitement of Greek life entices you. Whatever your niche may be, there is likely a student club, organization or activity to support it. If not, the Office of Student Life is here to help you create your own organization. Students Life sponsors many on-campus events including:
Welcome week activities Bowling Night on the Town Multicultural Taste-Fest Midnight Breakfast Homecoming parade Mr. Olivet contest Ms. Olivet contest Greek week activities Pledging activities On-campus movies Intramural sports Stand-up

He Took His Passion for Politics to New Heights
When I talk to the CEO’s of the companies and organizations that hire our graduates, they tell me that, while other universities might produce more graduates, Olivet College produces some of the best. Olivet College graduates are highly knowledgeable and skilled, ready to enter their chosen profession or graduate program, frequently on a leadership track. They’re also capable of working with a diverse group of others to solve complex problems. These are the key qualities that lead to success in business and careers, but also in personal relationships and stronger and sustaining communities. Steven M. Corey, Ph.D., President, Olivet College
An advocate for environmental and fiscal responsibility, Branden Dyer has always strived to find solutions Branden Dyer, Junior, to problems affecting his community. Charlotte City Councilman He got involved at Olivet by serving as president of the Student Government Association, vice president of the college’s Inter-Society Council and treasurer of his Greek society, Alpha Lambda Epsilon.
Empowered by his leadership roles on campus and wanting to do more for his hometown, Branden decided to take his passion for politics to the next level. He ran for a seat on his local city council, and after months of campaigning, the citizens of Charlotte elected Branden to a four-year term in 2012.
One-on-One Attention Made All the Difference “The reason I chose Olivet was because of the familiarity I had with the some of the staff members and the small learning environment that it presented, which makes it easier to talk to your professor one-on-one. Some of the things I like most about Olivet are the bonds and friendships I’ve formed with certain people, whether it’s in a sport or in a classroom. Alma Torres Senior, Lansing Major: Biology “Olivet College means the opportunity to succeed and to become someone in life. It is truly a family who supports you and guides you throughout your college experience. I could not have chosen a better college.”
After graduation, I hope to begin a career in the insurance industry and be successful in everything Olivet has prepared me to do.” Edric Miller, Senior

After Visiting Olivet, She Decided a Small School was the Right Fit Caitlin Barrington-Reed had always planned to pursue her love for psychology at a big university. But after visiting Olivet’s campus and meeting with Professor Dina Battaglia, Ph.D., she was convinced that Olivet was the right place for her. Amazed at all the opportunities a small school provided, she quickly became involved in the psychology program’s honor society. She was even accepted to present research at the Midwestern Psychological Association’s (MPA) annual conference in Chicago this past year. “If I hadn’t gone to school here I would have never known that presenting at MPA was an option for me and I wouldn’t have been able to put that on a resume if I hadn’t come to Olivet.” Caitlin Barrington-Reed, senior
