Will you pray for them and your pastor, and respect the decisions they make as they do their best to seek God’s will for this church? We do. Let us pray.

Lord, set apart these servants for the work to which they have been elected to do. Give them wisdom and grant them your grace, that they may be good servants, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, serving in the fear of God as they oversee this congregation. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the authority committed to me in His Church, I hereby declare you duly constituted and set apart as Elders and Trustees.
(Board members shall stand as pastor addresses them) Dearly Beloved in Christ, you have been elected to serve in positions of high honor among this people. To you have been entrusted the affairs of this church. To you who have been elected ELDERS is entrusted the spiritual oversight of the congregation. It shall be your duty to watch over the spiritual and moral well-being of this congregation. To you who have been elected TRUSTEES is entrusted the temporal oversight of this congregation. All of you have been elected by Church Council to serve as Stewards of this congregation. As Elders and Trustees, do you now promise and covenant before God and this congregation to fulfill your responsibilities to the office of which you have been elected? Will you support the services and activities of the church and promise to work with and support your pastor? Do you promise to work together as boards to carry out the ministry of this church? I do most heartily in the strength of Jesus Christ, my Lord and of His Spirit. (over)
