A Note From Your Lieutenant Governor WELCOME TO THE THIRD EDITION OF MY MONTHLY NEWSLETTERS! I'M SURE EVERYONE IS ECSTATIC THAT THE SCHOOL YEAR IS ENDING. HOWEVER, WE SHOULD MAKE EFFORTS TO STILL PERFORM COMMUNITY SERVICE IN THE SUMMER. WE CAN ARRANGE LAKE CLEAN UPS, VOLUNTEER AT SOUP KITCHENS. THE SUMMER IS A PERFECT TIME OF THE YEAR TO ARRANGE OUTDOOR SERVICE PROJECTS. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE THE WORLD A BRIGHTER AND MORE BEAUTIFUL PLACE!

MONTHLY FUN FACTS I am severely claustrophobic. If you get in my personal bubble, or if I ride up an elevator, I will freak out internally. I need to be in a room with windows or natural light. I am currently suffering from reading withdrawal symptoms. If I have to read the same books over and over again I will face the stages of reading withdrawal : boredom, complaints, and moodiness I once wrote a song about boredom of driving to far away places in third grade to the tune of Firework by Katy Perry due to my boredom

KEY CLUBÂ

OUR HUMBLE ORIGINS The very first key club was formed in 1925 in Sacramento, California, with only 11 charter members. It was the idea of two Kiwanis members and school administrators, Albert C. Olney and Frank C. Vincent. They approached their Kiwanis club with the idea of starting a junior service club for high schools. It would resemble Kiwanis, have its own classifications based on school interest and hold luncheon meetingsÂ

The club comprised of the key boys , willing to serve the school in any way possible, and to create better school spirit. Thus, the club was dubbed key club. The club started out as a vocational guidance program then expanded to become a complete service organization for the whole school. Today Key Club is the largest and oldest student run organization in the world.

Service in the Summer

As the school year is coming to an end, I know that most of you are looking forward to a carefree, lazy, two months. Just because the school year is over, doesn't mean Key Club isn't!

I will be holding two DCMs in the summer. However, I encourage all of you to plan events and other things in the summer so that your club remains in contact with each other.

The summer is the best time to hold fundraisers for events like DCON, Fall Rally, Key Leader, and ICON 2019.

THINGS TO DO IN THE SUMMER - Hold fundraisers for events ex- car wash, bake sale, etc - Hold at least one meeting to keep in contact with your members - Possibly plan events for the beginning of the school year - Attend at least one Summer DCM - Consider attending the K-Family Picnic
