01 Multi-Generation Learning Center Our studio looked at the site of the Chicago Union Stockyards - the slaughter house district in Chicago for over 100 years. As a comprehensive studio, we broke our semester up into 4 phases. The first phase involved looking at the history of the site and the current site conditions. The second phase required creating 4 building typologies that our studio thought could enhance the perception of the Union Stockyards and develop programs for the area. Our third phase involved creating a schematic design of our chosen typology, looking into massing, rough program layouts, and site. The fourth and final phase was design development. This involved designing the structure of our building, the environmental systems, site design, wall section details, and final design decisions for our building. Programs: AutoCad, Rhino, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Sefaira, SketchUp, Hand Modeling

02 UC Metro Lab For my capstone semester, I was in a design build studio with twelve other people. Partnering with the UC Bicentennial Committee, our studio was to design and make a prototype bus shelter for the Cincinnati Public Schools. We were the third studio to work this project. The first two studios conducted research and visited schools to hear what the students wanted as they waited for their bus. After looking through the previous research, we put together a list of objectives we wanted our project to have and started designing around those priorities. Once a final design was picked and started being fabricated at full scale, I helped with finding and ordering the materials being used, painting, cutting metal spacers and rod, and constructing the final shelter for DAAPworks. Digital Skills: Rhino, Photoshop, InDesign, Modeling, Drafting, AutoCad Manual Skills: Wood Working, Painting, Metal Working
03 Galveston Condition Assessment and Reuse Study This two week group studio was done in partnership with the Galveston Historic Foundation (GHF). The end product for this studio was an existing conditions assessment of the building along with a reuse plan to turn this building into housing for new teachers coming to the island. The first week of studio eight students and one professor went to Galveston, Texas to measure the existing historic Island City Wood Working Co. We also met with GHF to understand the background of this project and what their hopes were for this building. The second week of classes our studio was in Muncie. We split into two groups: existing reuse and new proposed addition. I was part of the existing reuse design team. We met as a small group and decided to have a community space and a separate resident space on the first floor, and apartment units on the second floor. I drew the first floor in Revit and collaborated with ideas for the second floor. I wrote the existing conditions assessment and the rehabilitation plan. I was in charge of the final booklet layout and collaboration between groups for our end product. Final report found here: https://issuu.com/oliviazepp Digital Skills: Revit, Photoshop, InDesign

04 Greentown, Indiana HABS Documentation In partnership with the Greentown Historical Society, our documentation class of seven students did a set of Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) Heritage Documentations. We split into multiple groups to complete the project. My group was in charge of photogrammetry of the National Register Commercial District facades. We started by taking pictures of the front facades of the buildings. Then, in studio we used Recap Photo to create the photogrammetry mesh. After we produced the meshes, we exported them to AutoCad and created line work over the mesh. I was responsible for researching the history of Greentown and specifically the history of the two Historical Society buildings. From the history and Sanborn Maps, I created a series of developmental maps to show the evolution of the historic downtown. Our drawing set will be submitted to the Charles E. Peterson competition and will be archived in the Library of Congress for future architects and historians to view. Digital Skills: Photogrammetry, Recap Photo, AutoCad

A SMALL BUILDING SERVED AS TOWN HALL DURING THE LATE 1800'S AND EARLY 1900'S ON SOUTH MERIDIAN STREET. THE CITY HALL WAS THEN RELOCATED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME BEFORE THIS BUILDING WAS CONSTRUCTED. THE BUILDING WAS CONSTRUCTED IN 1929 FOR NEARLY $4,700 BY CHARLES SMELTZER ON LAND CLEARED OF OLDER BUILDINGS PURCHASED BY THE TOWN. IN 1969, THE TOWN GRANTED THE USE OF PART OF THE BUILDING FOR A GLASS MUSEUM TO FEATURE THE HISTORY OF GLASSMAKING IN THE CITY OF GREENTOWN.

Perspectus Architecture Chambers, Murphy, Burge Studio While interning at Perspectus, I was part of their Historic Preservation Studio. I worked on a number of Historic Tax Credit projects assisting in all parts of the application process. I helped take and key Part 2 and Part 3 photos for submission to the SHPO. I helped with amendments on applications for multiple projects. I also researched the history of multiple historic buildings and historic downtowns for guidelines and National Register applications. I assisted in designing graphics for historic district guidelines. I field measured buildings with coworkers. Then, I put measurements in either AutoCad or Revit for creating schematic design drawings. I created details for construction sets on existing buildings. I attended multiple stake holder meetings for a renovation project. I created schematic design options for the renovation and helped with spacial problem solving. I communicated with engineers and property owners for coordination on projects. Digital Skills: AutoCad, Revit, Photoshop, InDesign, TPAS

06 John Patrick Picard During my internship at John Patrick Picard, a firm in downtown Massillon that does renovations and commercial work, I worked on drafting construction sets that were going out to bid. I assisted on multiple types of drawings such as: framing, ceiling and roof plans, exterior and interior elevations, details, and sections. I was put in charge of drawing interior elevations on numerous designs and noting them for the contractors. The projects captains also had me making changes based on their redlines and notes. The firm uses SketchUp models to convey design ideas to clients. I was put in charge of making multiple SketchUp models and turning them into animations so we could present them to our clients. I was able to enhance my SketchUp skills and learn about making animations/ videos in the program. Being such a small office, I was able to learn more of the inner workings of a firm through the daily conversations about project calendars, meetings, and other ways a project proceeds from the design phase into construction. Digital Skills: AutoCad, SketchUp, Photoshop

Court Atkins Group
While working at Court Atkins Group, I helped develop floor plans for their residential clients. Using AutoCad, we had to design homes which would fit into the different styles of each plantation/ neighborhoord development the houses were located. I assisted in putting sets together and making changes on the plans and elevations based off of the Architecture Review Board comments on each home. I helped on multiple homes in various stages of design: schematic, design development and construction documents. Sitting in on some of their client meetings, I was able to learn how to better interact with clients and change designs based on their needs. Being able to go to multiple site visits enabled me to better understand what we were drawing and how the actual house looked compared to our drawings. Digital Skills: AutoCad, Photoshop

08 Personal Work Throughout the years I have enjoyed learning new ways to express my creativity. In high school I took multiple art classes, which eventually led me to the field of architecture. While in my undergraduate studies, I was able to use my drawings skills while abroad one semester for on site sketching. I was able to take a ceramics wheel throwing class in undergrad and learn how to manipulate clay to create different forms and textures. I had resources to be able to teach myself some basic stained glass skills while on summer break one year. I am excited to be able to advance these skills after graduation when I have free time. Stained glass has taught me how unforgiving certain materials can be when they are so fragile. My most recent endeavor has been quilting with my grandma. My favorite part of quilting is when the individual pieces begin to come together in blocks and you can begin to see the pattern coming together. Quilting has taught me the patience to stick with a project until the end even when it seems like unending cutting and sewing. I also cherish the time with my grandma learning about her passion and tricks she knows about quilting.
