from the president “One step at a time. One hope to another. Who knows where this road may go?” This quote from ANASTASIA is a fitting conclusion to an incredible Broadway season. It’s certainly a reflection of these past few years, and this beautiful production of ANASTASIA reminds us to honor the past while bravely facing the future. Most of all, we celebrate that we can come together again to experience these amazing shows. ANASTASIA is a fairy tale that comes to life on stage. The beautiful costumes, the sweeping adventure and romance, and music are dazzling. This particular tour is special for several reasons. ANASTASIA herself is newcomer Kyla Stone, who is the first Black actress to play Anya in any production worldwide. And there is a local connection -- keep your eyes open for Harrison Drake, one of the swings in the production. Harrison was last here in A BRONX TALE in 2020. He’s an alumnus of Lincoln Southwest High School and the University of Nebraska Lincoln. We are also delighted to welcome ensemble member Christian McQueen, a Kansas Wesleyan alum. Although we’ve had to wait a few years to welcome ANASTASIA to the Orpheum, I know you will enjoy being swept away into this inspiring story of hope, courage and finding yourself. It’s been an incredible year, and we have more in store with our fabulous 2022/2023 Broadway shows. I look forward to seeing you next season!
Joan H. Squires President, Omaha Performing Arts
Fun Fact: The Tuesday performance of this production is our annual “Heroes Night,” dedicated to area Gold and Blue Star families who have lost loved ones in combat, and to the veterans who have served our country. We welcome many of these families to this special musical. O-pa.org
