ake a look back at how Yahweh (God) dealt with his chosen people, the Hebrews, who were suffering under the ‘one world empire’ of Egypt ruled by the Pharaohic dictators. This is what he said to Moses:

nation of Egypt at that time. It all seemed well for probably 320 years or more with no obvious reason to go back to Canaan. Then circumstances turned against them as the political scene changed and the new Pharaoh became more anti-Semitic, especially as the Hebrew population increased to nearly 1 million men. Soon “Now therefore, behold, the cry of the after this turning started Moses was born, children of Israel is come unto me: and I was saved and adopted. The anti-Semitism have also seen the oppression wherewith the then escalated when he was 40 years old Egyptians oppress them. Come now therefore, as he tried to rescue his people by his own and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou strength (Exod 2:11-15) approximately 40 mayest bring forth my people the children of years before they eventually left Egypt Israel out of Egypt.” (Exod 3:9-10) (Exod 12:40) (Acts 7:23). A New Era begins We will come back to the Exodus as our pattern later, but first we jump 1900 years or more to the days of Jesus, king of the Jews. The ‘ekklesia’ (government of grace) that Jesus the Messiah established from the remnant of Israel (Heb 8:8) is similarly called a ‘holy nation’ that exists within the political ‘one world’ system of his day, the iron of Rome (1 Pet 2:9). Then, 40 years later in AD 67-70, just as Jesus had predicted Israel was destroyed by Rome and the Kingdom of God would now only spread invisibly in men’s hearts (spirit). Starting from Judea then Samaria and to the uttermost parts of the earth, just like yeast (leaven) that spreads through bread dough (Matt 13:33). It’s been tough at times through history, persecution, resistance and world turmoil, but the message of the Kingdom Gospel has indeed spread. Many have believed and are believing the truth in all parts of the earth even to this day. Nothing can stop the faith of God that’s hidden in the heart. There is not one physical nation that could be called 100% Christilike, rather His church body is scattered throughout ALL nations, just as the Israelites were and are! History is no longer just about a single physical nation (Israel), but now it’s on a much bigger ‘global scale’ (All nations). We see that Yahweh’s people (the body of Christ) are entering into a similar phase of history to that of the early Hebrews, when the political leaders turned against against God as King! As always this political shift is orchestrated by God’s enemy Satan (Matt 13:37-39) and will ultimately lead to a great persecution or tribulation for the saints (see Rev 13:10). These tribulation days are already upon us as Islam and other regimes rise like beasts and Satan sows his evil

children among the nations of the world! So what else did Jesus teach about these final days - what we call the Last Days? Did He foresee that which was to come, just as he had done regarding the children of Israel in Egypt, when he told Abraham the overall plan? (Gen 15:13).

Mysteries Revealed These secrets of the ages have been given to His disciples in code form through the parables that Jesus spoke (Matt 13:11) and which the Spirit interprets to us who know Him by that same Spirit. This is a crucial point, because many men down the ages (and today) have tried to interpret or understand these parables purely by intellectualism or logic, by calculation rather than by knowing Jesus and the ‘whole’ of His Word. So often they take information ‘out of context’ ignoring what God has already said and done. God’s Word does not change, but He can change his mind if he so chooses, just as you or I can express our free will, so does He (Exod 32:14). However he will never go back on His spoken Word or His nature of love and that’s why we need to know ‘every word that proceeds from the mouth ofYahweh!’ (Matt 4:4) The whole history of Israel and the Prophets has been given to us as an example of this fact, as Paul states: “Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.” (1 Corin 10:11) Incase you had’nt relaised you are in the ends of the ages! I think you’ll agree that this is astonishing, but it’s because the Father foresaw what would come against us who want to follow His Son wholeheartedly in the Last Age. He o

has not appointed us to wrath, but we will surely suffer persecution, trials, temptations and demonic opposition just as He did (John 15:19-21). This is decidedly unpleasant to the flesh in which we live. We prefer to live comfortably and without any opposition, however we must not compromise and fall into the very trap that the Pharisees fell into with the Roman authorities - hypocrisy. Jesus always warned against this as Matthew points out: “Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.”

understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.’ (Matt 13:13-15; Isaiah 6:9-11).

This blindness to understanding Christ’s Word comes because of three deadly hindrances highlighted by Isaiah: 1. A heart that is waxed gross (hardened) 2. Ears dull of hearing (ignoring truth) 3. Eyes that have closed (accepting evil) Before moving on to the meaning of The Parable Revelations parables let’s briefly cover these key issues, Historians speak of various ‘ages past’, so that there’s no hindrance to hearing and such as the ‘steam age’ or ‘middle ages’ and understanding truth by the Holy Spirit. ‘dark ages’. These are man’s categorization of the passing of time and of the kingdoms 1. A Hardened Heart of the earth. The Bible also reveals God’s The light of a candle burns bright and the view of the ‘ages’ and speaks of the ‘age wax melts, and as it moves away from the to come’ and so we need to understand light downwards it begins to harden as it these and know where we are within His cools. This is a visual of what can easily revelation of time. Jesus spoke a number happen to our inner heart over time if it of parables regarding the ‘end of the ages’ moves away from the Light of the Word of which reveal many things so that we can God. It’s what happened to the Israelites understand what the Prophets foresaw. We on many occasions and this was challenged must also interpret the signs of the times by the Prophets throughout their history. (Matt 16:3). Believers, are also warned of this danger: These truths have been made impossible to understand without the Spirit of grace, “Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you in order to separate out those who believe an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, and those who do not. Jesus himself while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be emphasises this division when quoting hardened through the deceitfulness of from Isaiah: sin. For we have become partakers of Christ “Therefore speak I to them in parables: because if we hold the beginning of our confidence they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, steadfast to the end, while it is said: neither do they understand. And in them is ‘Today, if you will hear His voice, do not fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, ‘By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.’ ” (Heb 3:12-15).

To keep our hearts soft before Jesus we must be ‘repentant’ admitting our weaknesses, faults and sins and seeking the power of His Spirit to deliver us from evil. Sin of any kind will harden our heart towards the truth of the Word and prevent us hearing the Spirit and wisdom. His plan is that we overcome sin and live a holy life free from its hindrance. Our heart is the wellspring of life as noted by Jesus and also Solomon (John 4:14; Prov 4:23). Clear it out while you can or else you can’t see!

Love will be deceived by the words of this world system which uses pride, ambition, lies and fear leading to selfishness, greed and death. He who has ears let him hear.

3. Eyes that have closed

This leads us into the third hindrance, blind eyes. We have all heard the phrase ‘turning a blind eye’ when bribes are made or an injustice is ignored or covered up. We pretend not to see what is plainly happening ‘before our eyes’. These issues in the earth such as hunger, poverty, injustice 2. The apostle Paul tells us that ‘faith comes Thank the Lord that the opposite of this by hearing and hearing by theWord of God’ wickedness is the righteousness of Jesus (Rom 10:17), but it’s only possible to truly the Messiah who wholeheartedly obeyed ‘hear’ the word if your heart (inner spirit) the voice of the Father and was not receives it. There is another consequence solution to this terrible pit that man has of ‘dull’ ears - we fail to hear the cry slipped into: of the poor, needy and oppressed, not “Beware lest anyone cheat you through challenging those that exploit them! basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” (Col 2:8-10). Jesus alone can give us the revelation and vision to see by the Holy Spirit into His heavenly presence, in order that we might be changed by His grace from glory to glory. We must make sure that we ‘know him’ not just ‘know about him’. We must be ‘born again’ with a new soft heart of ‘flesh’ instead of a hardened stony rebellion unwilling to change! (John 3:7) “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezek 36:26).

The Wheat and the Tares So onward with the Kingdom parables and the end of the age and what really will happen at the return of the Holy One of Israel, the Lord Almighty. This may not be what you have been taught previously on the subject, it may be a surprise, and you may feel challenged or even offended, but consider Jesus’ very own words carefully. There are certain ‘ages’ that the Bible speaks of and as we have seen from Paul’s writing, those who have existed since the work and resurrection of Jesus are in the ‘end of the ages’ (1 Corin 10:11). This means that we are experiencing something unique in human history - the last ages of all time and the fulfilment of all prophecy! This is further confirmed by the writer of the epistle to the Hebrews when he states: “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of

6 The Day of the Lord

all things...” (Heb 1:1). Paul also talks about the mystery that was hidden in ages past (Eph 3:5) and of the ages to come (Eph 2:7; see Rev 20:4) which from the beginning have been hidden in Christ who creates all things! (1 Corin 2:7). So far this last age or ‘age of grace’ and of the ‘new covenant’ has lasted approx 1,985 years (since the crucifixion). This sounds a long time, but when you consider that from Adam to Jesus there was 4,000 years it’s really not that long! Jesus gave us the parable of the Wheat and Tares (Weeds) as an explanation of what will happen upon his return and the end of this final age. Through this parable we are given an explanation of the process of separation and judgement that will occur. Remember this is the Word of God himself: “Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. So the servants of the owner came and said to him,‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ He said to them,‘An enemy has done this.’The servants said to him,‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ But he said,‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’” (Matt 13:24-30). Notice the key players in this story; the man; the field; the wheat; the tares; the

enemy; the servants; the harvest. Now before the interpretation of this parable is given Jesus tells two other parables, the Mustard Seed and the Leaven (yeast). These two show the Kingdom of heaven to be something that: 1. Gradually grows big, and 2. Spreads unseen overtime. The kingdom invisibly expands or grows to a large size within the dough (the world, field, people). It’s imperceptible to the world at large. However this takes time to occur just as a large tree takes years to grow. (so far approx 1,985 years). Jesus then brings the interpretation of the parable of the wheat to his disciples in private after sending the rest away: “He answered and said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man (Jesus). The field is the world, the good seeds [wheat] are the sons of the kingdom (believers), but the tares are the sons of the wicked one [anti-Christ].The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will remove out of His kingdom (earth) all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire (Hell). There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father (millenial reign). He who has ears to hear, let him hear! (Matt 13:37-43) So that this parable is not subject to misinterpretation Jesus gives the understanding of it to the apostles (and

omega-ministries.org

us). Firstly and crucially, there is no mention of taking the wheat away from the tares before the judgement (i.e. a secret ‘rapture’) in fact the complete opposite is true, the tares (non-believers) are taken (or weeded) out of the earth by reaper angels and thrown into the fire FIRST, thus leaving the sons of the kingdom to inherit the earth! Jesus had earlier preached this “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth (kingdom of Father)” (Matt 5:5). This is what Jesus calls the harvest or end of this age (and all time), when the dead in Christ are also raised. Then the righteous will shine as the sun! A terrible yet glorious day of the Lord! There will not be many people left standing on that day.

History Repeats Itself As we read earlier when Moses and Aaron came at Yahweh’s command to deliver Israel from the Egyptians, they were all still there when the judgements came upon Pharaoh and his kingdom. The Hebrews were supernaturally protected (in Goshen) and they watched as Yahweh glorified His name by judging their enemies before their eyes! They were unharmed by any of the destruction that came on the land. The final judgement was a message to the whole world of how He would one day bring salvation by His Son’s own blood the Lamb of God. Yahweh used this judgement to make His name great as he had already revealed to Abram, His friend: “And he said unto Abram,‘Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.” (Gen 15:13-14).

The Day of the Lord

When the angel of death came through Egypt that night in the final hour, late at night, like a thief, the firstborn of the wicked died without mercy, even animals - they were taken by death. It was at this point that God’s people were told to be ready to exit (Exodus) and head for a new home after being protected by the blood of the Lamb. This deliverance was a foreshadowing of what will happen when the King returns to earth as judge upon the wicked. This ‘marriage’ is not something done secretly, but publicly with witnesses and a celebration supper! Why would Jesus elope with his treasured bride in secret when He can defeat his enemies and plunder their goods as well!? This is when the kingdoms of the world become His (and ours) with it’s capital in Zion! This is the process of the end according to Jesus himself and this must therefore be the cornerstone to interpreting and understanding all the subsequent teaching, visions and dreams of the apostles thereafter. He is both the cornerstone and plumb-line against which all truth is measured. When we now read Jesus other words regarding people being ‘taken’ in Luke 17 for example, we get a clearer understanding of what this means: “I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left.” (Luke 17:34-36). (50/50 split!)

Make no mistake Jesus is not talking about people being raptured here, rather it’s about the opposite - people are taken by the reaper angels to eternal death and literally die in the judgements, being thrown into the eternal fire, confirmed by

8 The Day of the Lord

the concluding words of this parable: “Where, Lord?” they asked. He replied,“Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather.” . (see also Isaiah 4).

Understanding 1 Thessalonians Chapter 4 is a section of Paul’s letter often quoted as evidence of a Christian ‘rapture’, however if we now read this in the light of Jesus own teaching we see that it takes on a different meaning altogether! “According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.” (1 Thess 4:15-17). Many of us have heard this interpreted so many times that it’s easy to miss the actual events here and how it links with Jesus words from the parable. Notice the crucial sequence of events: 1. Jesus and the Father return visibly to the whole world with loud noises and flashing lightning and not in secret. Those true believers who are STILL alive will NOT precede those who have already died in Christ (Rev 20:5). The raised believers do not fly into heaven (or disappear secretly) but stand again on the earth with new bodies as Jesus touches the earth. He is the resurrection and the life. EVERYONE still alive on earth will see this (Rev 1:7)! So Jesus comes down to earth from heaven as promised by the angels in Acts 1:11: “ “Men of Galilee,” they said,“why do you stand

o

here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven”. Just as those disciples watched Jesus go in a ‘glory cloud’ from the earth and then ascend up, believers will watch Him come down again to touch earth in a ‘glory cloud’ - wow! This heavenly cloud is the ‘barn’ that Jesus refers to. Just like the cloud that protected the Hebrews before crossing the Red Sea (Exod 14:20). 2. Paul then says ‘after that’ (v17) dramatic event ‘we who are still alive and are left’. This implies that there has been previous judgements and perhaps a terrible persecution and some are left alive (Rev 13:10; 14:13-14), then these believers will be transfigured in the blink of an eye into their new spiritual bodies as promised. (1 Corin 15:52) 3. This all happens after the 6 major judgements on the wicked of the earth. All true believers, living and resurrected will then be ‘caught up’ or ‘snatched’ into the heavenly cloud of glory! (Not into rain clouds high in the sky, see also Rev 11:12). This holy cloud is said to ‘cover’ those being transformed. This is a supernatural transformation at ground zero and not done secretly (as some may have thought) and happens just before the final 7th judgement of hailstones (Rev 16:21). Again we see this forshadowed in the Exodus. The Greek word used for ‘taken’ is ‘Harpazo’ and is defined thus: harpázo – seize by force; snatch up, suddenly and decisively – like someone seizing bounty (spoil, a prize); to take by an open display of force (i.e. not covertly or secretly). Also the Greek word Paul uses for ‘air’ in

omega-ministries.org

Thessalonians 4:17 is ‘aér’ a completely different word to ‘sky’ or ‘heaven’ which is ‘ouranon’, and literally means ‘the lower air we breathe’ (aér), that is the atmosphere on or near ground level! Granted that once transformed into our heavenly bodies we will be able to fly rapidly to the cloud wherever Jesus is standing (probably the mount of Olives)

Transfiguration Evidence Perhaps you are thinking this sounds too far fetched?! However, as a prelude to the appearing of Jesus as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, consider the experience given to Peter, James and John during the transfiguration of Jesus on earth: “As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendour, talking with Jesus... ...While he was speaking, a cloud appeared and covered them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. A voice came from the cloud, saying,“This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.” (Luke 9:28-36). Wow! This is both awesome and revealing. Firstly Jesus’ face changes like the face of Moses did before him (Exod 34:29) and he becomes like lightning in appearance, then he meets with two prophets who had died thousands of years ago - alive and well (whose bodies had already been taken (see Jude 1:9; 2 Kings 2:11) - then a ‘glory cloud’ from the Father covered them (not rain clouds) and finally there was the Father testifying that Jesus is the chosen one! Stunning. It’s pretty clear that the clouds spoken of at Jesus return are also glory clouds! It seems to occur when heaven meets earth shielding the glory of o

The Day of the Lord

9

the Father from destroying the world. (see Exod 13:21). Make no mistake when Jesus returns, like lightening in this same way, the whole world will know that the King has come for his own and they (non-believers) will be running to hide from the legions of reaping angels that will be chasing them down (like locusts). Then as well as this, down comes the 50kg hailstones of the last judgement falling as we depart with Jesus in the cloud(barn/ark). So, He comes right down to earth in a cloud of the glory to take us by the hand shielding us from harm while He destroys the enemies that hide (Rev 7, Isa 13:9). There will be no escape and none of the wicked will ultimately survive His ‘sword’. Not a rapture, more like a rupture, all happening within 1day and 1 final hour! (Rev 3:10; 14:7; 18:10). This is the TERRIBLE DAY of the LORD spoken of by the prophets and Jesus. It will be a fearful day of judgement for those who deny Him as King! For those who have known Him and have given up or fallen back from faith, or worse, use the church (his people) for their own gain it is an even worse ending: “The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers.” (Luke 12:46). “Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light. As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him. Shall not the day of the Lord be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?” (Amos 5:18-20).

This dramatic and terrifying day is also

10 The Day of the Lord

revealed by John in the Revelation of Jesus Christ: “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Rev 1:7-8) “And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? (Rev 6:15-17). We see clearly that the return of the Lord is not in secret and takes place over a Day and also a final Hour and although those who know Jesus by faith are changed in the twinkling of an eye into their glorious new body (they enter His glory cloud ‘barn’) those outside are judged most severely. ““Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out. “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

What to do Next? Due to the seriousness of this information you need to grasp the reality of your own situation before a holy God. This is what the apostle Paul recommends: “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realise that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?” (2 Corin 13:5)

o

omega-ministries.org

How do we know that we have passed this test? Jesus has given a way to know so that he both knows us and accepts us, it’s very different to the old way of obeying particular laws. This is what the apostle John says about this: “This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit.”

fasting to regain this focus will also be evident and a normal part of a new lifestyle focussed on pleasing God (Matt 9:15). Thirdly you find that your character has changed and you no longer want to sin or offend God or others, but rather to be kind, warmer and friendlier especially (1 John 4:13) towards fellow believers, what is termed the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22). The uniqueness of Jesus was pointed out by the last prophet of the old testament, Finally you see that supernatural gifts John the baptiser when he said: begin to operate in your life, speaking other tongues, healing, demonic conflict “I baptise you with water for repentance. But and prophecy etc. (1 Corin 12). Now after me comes one who is more powerful than initially you may be boosted in all of these I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
