OPBSI National Convention 2018

Page 1

AUGUST 2-5, 2018

Welcome

Welcome to Hollywood! As we partake in this National celebration, we cannot help but feel nostalgic as Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated (OPBSI) returns to the West Coast to commemorate 15 years since our inaugural venture to the Golden State. California was so much more than an expansion endeavor for the Sorority, instead it served as the catalyst for many others around the country that would follow in their footsteps. It was integral in creating a full-blown national image for the organization and we are so very proud of the growth, sisterhood, and strength that has resulted from Phi Chapter’s initial efforts. While the distance from our National Headquarters in New York City is vast; our hearts could not be more aligned with our sisters, not only on the west coast but in the Midwest, South and East alike. This notion has served as the inspiration for this year’s National Convention theme titled: Sisterhood Knows No Distance. This theme not only shapes this year’s Convention, but it serves as a wellknown mantra for many Betas. While the miles between us grow— our ability to support, love and guide one another remains solid. We are beyond excited to reunite and perhaps meet for the first time sisters from all over the country and be joined by our families and friends. We gather to celebrate the 15 years of OPBSI on the West Coast. From Phi Chapter at the University of Southern California to our Northern California sisters at University of California, Berkeley’s Beta Mu Chapter, and rounding it out with our Los Angeles Alumnae Collective! We hope you too feel welcomed and celebrated throughout this weekend. While we enjoy the time together, we are comfortable with spreading our wings and taking life by storm with the confidence that the sisters of Omega Phi Beta will always be near… as I have shared in this message “Sisterhood knows no distance.”

National President, 2018-2019 Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
