Given urban block is located in southeast border of the new design part of Brno. There are several related spaces around block: main square for whole locality, city boulevard Rosická, park square with community centre and front space of the elementary school. Urbanism of the block is based on connection related spaces and creation of two different characters of courtyard – public and private. Booth parts are free to entry but there are differences in surfaces and articulation. Buildings inside the block are situated in accordance with their functional use so it corresponds with intensity of the activities in courtyards and surrounding public space.

Block multifunctionality was also major parameter during design. Thanks to optimal functional distribution we get almost same number of working places as expected inhabitants. Parking is proposed inside underground garage. Number of parking plots are purposely restricted since there is good public transport connectivity.

MULTIFUNCTIONAL HOUSES ROSICKA · UNIVERSITY STUDIO · BRNO | 2016 · MIROSLAV CIKÁN

Polyfunctional houses are located at important city boulevard Rosická. Main idea was to create building as vertical village with many outside and inside meeting spaces. Those areas are connected by one line, which leads residents from the bottom all over the building to the roof garden. This building concept initiate interactions of inhabitant and create new relationships. Many terraces and passages forms complex and multilayered space which offer all kinds of activities and experiences. Representative façade with shops and restaurant is oriented to the street Rosická. On the other

side to the courtyard is situated services for block residents, such as gym, community room and bike service room. Flats inside the building are designed for different types of inhabitants.

DOLNI LIBOC CENTRE · UNIVERSITY STUDIO · PRAGUE | 2016 · TOMÁŠ HRADEČNÝ

Task was to choose tramway loop and convert it to function part of the city. Tramway loop I solved is located in the periphery of the Prague1. Locality is determined by dramatic nature from one side, city structure on the other side and heavy traffic boulevard Evropská in between. Work builds on planned extension of the tram line. Main idea is to combine dramatic nature and city living in to one complex structure. Proposed development will offer public services, work places and housing and thanks to this specific form also define important border between urban area and landscape. Appropriate design of street profile of

the boulevard Evropská ensure integration whole locality as one complex. New proposed public spaces will served as places for gathering, meeting, shopping, siting and all other activities. Thanks to improved access to the nature all inhabitants will have place for relax and recreation. Final design distinguish two different type of buildings. Firstly administration buildings with active parter placed along boulevard Evropská. Second type is residence with green sloping roof. This house contains universal sections which offer flexible use.

OSTRAVA. City with black history full of iron mines and connected industry. City where number three occur so often that cannot be just accident. Near border of three countries. Third biggest city in Czech Republic. Three exclamation marks inside its famous logo. City of many different layers. Full of huge industry complexes old ones and new ones. Full of trees and other green areas. Full of localities. Now big changes happening in this city. Brownfields around river Ostravice are revitalized and reused. But with grow there is also need for good connection around the city. Our task was to propose what to do with plot between brownfield Dolni Vitkovice and new shopping and office center Karolina, which is now absolutely cut off from other parts of the city.

Our project has one simple idea. Connection by traffic. There is undignified small main bus station next to given plot. Also, there are heavy traffic road and railway line right next to the plot. So, by creation important traffic hub in the hearth of whole area we convert dead inaccessible place to the new growing part of the city. Thanks to perfect connection by train, bus, tram, car, bike and foot surrounding localities also can grow faster and without problems with traffic. That ensure flow of future investors, which are important for this whole area.

Connected to our traffic hub idea we propose several other things. There are planed two housing developments in the north and in the south from our plot. That will bring lot of new incoming inhabitants without working offer. That’s why we design new offices west from traffic terminal. Finally, east part next to the

river will occupy three skyscrapers as new symbol from Ostrava. Their height 125 m is deduced from dimension of square grid of Dolni Vitkovice Brownfield (125x125m). Towers will be used for residents and as a hotel.

The building complements a street line on the square, recessed entrance creating a covered shelter. Glassed-parter on the side of the square communicates with the holes on the back side facing the garden. It visually connects the two public spaces and opens to the general public. The mass is reduced according to the adjacent buildings and ongoing lines of adjacent ledges. On the north side of the square, the library opens square window extending over two floors, it opens to the public and thus shows its internal life. Rear southern side is illuminated via perforated brick. Multifunctional whole vertical views through the entire building, the optical contact. Every visitor feels as a part of the whole, while peace and intimacy are not disturbed. Clearly, while diverse space. The subdivision of the building into four floors by the individual operating units. Vertical connection of the object using atrium with a staircase.

EXHIBITION IN CITÉ DE L‘ARCHITECTURE PARIS

· EXHIBITION · PARIS | 2016 · OFIS ARCHITECTS

Exhibitions in Cité de l’architecture in Paris reacting on actual themes in architecture1. For this one curators invite OFIS architects to present some actual issue in their work. During my internship I was the one who prepared this exhibition from the early sketches to the final realization (of course under leadership of Rok Oman and Špela Videčnik). Theme we research was minimum livable space for people, especial in case of alpine shelters. Our design was based on 1:10 scaled wooden models. By playing with them people can discover different options of the space by themselves. Because of very strict construction demands there is also very important to examine ways how to build shelters since material is delivered only by helicopter. In that case, there is very efficient to compose final object from prefabricated parts which represent specific activity (sleeping, sitting, cooking etc.). Those parts have to be ready for quick completation in difficult mountain site.

VISION FOR HOREČKY · WORKSHOP · TROJANOVICE | 2015 · KAMIL MRVA, KAREL JANČA

Horečky, recreation area located above town Frenštát pod Radhoštěm and village Trojanovice, has famous history as a restaurant, place of pilgrimage, cultural events and ski jumping. All this old usage was forgotten for a while, but during last few years this place staring to have its activities again thanks to restaurant renovation(1), new amphitheater, buffet(2) and bell tower(3).

Our project was focused on design new infocentre(4), extend sitting options around buffet(5), conversion of ski jumping tower(6) and invent new accommodation in the trees(7). Infocentre is located next to entry to Horečky. Visitors will find bronze model of whole area, giftshop and toilettes inside. Extension around buffed is proposed as “flying” wooden deck anchored into the trees.

TREEHOU SES ACCOMODICATION While designing tree accommodation we focused on finding inspiration from the nature itself. Our purpose was to put jewel inside the forest. Bee, spider and bird settlements played important role for our proposal. Golden tinge of cabins induces color of resin. Each cell is suspended by multiple fine-spun steel cable from tree trunks. Different directions of those connections provide enough static stability, but still allow slight movement caused by wind. That enhanced experience of this special kind of accommodation. Final cabin has equal equipment to guesthouse rooms. Double bedroom, bathroom and toilet is everything guests needed for quit and undisturbed stay during their vacation. Laminate, material based on resin and enough strength for holding whole cell together, is use as main structure and also as a shell (similar as in boat and aviation industry).

J I Ř Í RA Š KA V E R T IC A L MUZEUM We found technical expression of ski jump tower unique so our approach to renovation was focused to acsent its key elements without any big changes. Since ski jump tower isn’t use by ski jumpers anymore, we propose new use as u Jiří Raška museum. Raška, most famous ski jumper during Czechoslovakia, contribution well to the fame of this whole area. Long stairs through tower symbolized life timeline of this jumper and his followers from beginnings to the top of their carriers. On the top is located new viewpoint where every visitor can observe 360° view around beautiful Beskydy landscape. Major of Trojanovice village like this project very much and want it to by realized, so during this time documentation for realization is being developed.

MODULAR SKYSCRAPER · WORKSHOP · BRNO| 2015 · SEBASTIAN IRARRAZAVAL

Workshop1 guided by Sebastian Irarrazaval from Chille focused on designing modular skyscraper in the centre of Brno.Task was design vertical extensionn on the top of existing building. Our design is based on loadbearing scafolding system. We create this grid structure so moduls can fit inside in many different ways. Whole object work like vertical city, where each floor is public space or street with entries to every apartmant. Those horizontal spaces are conected by few vertical comunications, which are accesible from groundfloor and streets around. Rather then just private skyscaper we extend public space to the height and enable view over the Brno for everyone. There are two tower made by moduls inside the scafolding. One is thinner and taller and second one thicker and lower. This form taking

inspiration from old historic towers in the city. Final building look more like air structure with vistas, then skycraper. Thanks to this efemer effect tower doesn‘t compete with historic monuments.

LITOMYŠL WITHOUT TRANSIT TRAFFIC · SUMMER ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL · LITOMYŠL | 2015 · SVATUPLUK SLÁDEČEK, JOSEF PLESKOT

4

Summer school Litomyšl without transit traffic was focused on thinking and designing town Litomyšl after transit bypass will be created around. Whole area is now split into two parts. Connection, integration and renovation are main topics of this transformation.

footbridge (3,4,5) As connection between two divided parts of Litomyšl. First part full of public buildings like schools and townhall and second part which use to be place of authority in the past (palace, monastery, church). Footbridge offer unique view over the town and lead visitors from the parking house to the old center.

4

Litomyšl has beautiful silhouette, but there is no place to see it, that‘s why we take this opportunity and make that view available for everyone. (2) We narrow the road to two lines. Then complete area with greenery, bicycle path and wide pathway. That‘s how we create 2,5 km long circle for bicycles and different kinds of sport. We also clarify overgrown trees and bush, remove old pedestrian overpasses and connect both parts by crosswalks.

5

6

5

NEW IMPULSES We propose important several public buildings around this rediscovered town street. Parking garage(2) with wide bridge across street. That secure safe and fluent movement from schools to historic center. New design town hall(1), located in dignified plot with nice overview. Since Litomyšl is birthplace of Bedřich Smetana (important Czech music composer) we also clarify place for new town concert hall(7). This hall will underline importance of locale culture.

ART SCHOOL KRAVÍ HORA

· UNIVERSITY STUDIO · BRNO | 2013 · VIKTOR SVOJANOVSKÝ, ANTONÍN ODVÁRKA

Main idea of proposal is leaving as much space as possible to surroundings green areas. By placing big part of volume under the ground school become more connected to the park around and also roof could be accessible for student and all other people. Proposal is situated next to plot border near to the planetarium. So, it creates education complex in the middle of emerging big park area in Kraví hora. Building design is connected to surrounding environment. Plot is placed in the north-east hillside of Kraví hora and there are green areas all around. That’s the reason I was focused on keeping continuous space through. Main areas are placed into one-story block volume with

generous construction high. This block is whole under the ground in one side and the rest is gradually coming up on the terrain. There are 3 other organic shaped objects rising from this volume. Roof of the main part is accessible from each side, so park continue across this surface without any barriers. Skylights providing light to the bottom hall are also suitable for sitting. Biggest of those rising objects is shaded double glass facade to prevent summer overheating.
