Three Gardens -a route, an enclosed and an opened- in the cityscape of Patras, which they end at the segmentation of the hill of Dasillio, form a sequence of gardens. A ritual about our transgressive behavior of what we perceive as nature. The space-of-emplacement (localization) is under reexamination. The boundaries we place and enclose our transgressive past stand as monuments to our frustration rather than to reference outside those boundaries. The “enclosed” and the protected within this enclosure ceases to be associated with the “immaculate”. It is now perceived as a monument to what was left of the unprotected. An “enclosed garden” now encompasses guilt. In the garden-route, inside a trench, a platform-bridge constructs yet another breach in an artificial piece-of-nature. In the enclosed garden, a rite of decision, isolation, de-isolation as well as the exit to the last garden constructs an observational position along a parallel route. In the open garden, occurs the rising plus the ending to the split hill. 6

Inside an existing abandoned structure, at the crossroad of Agiou Andreou and Zaimi Street, you can descend about six meters down, using the stairs structured along the existing building. Going under Agiou Andreou Street, you come to a glade, also being inside the trench. The entrance creating the strarting point of the route, which it cross the urban blocks of the city. The trench formed of natural elements as well as a platform-bridge which role is to make up an observational character to the passage, besides a pure also a safe route for the passengers.
Six meters under the surface of the city level, you do not need to keep your feet on the ground in order to place yourself inside to. A route along an artificial piece of nature constructs itself locus qualities -a garden-route in the cityscape of Patras.

Whilst the trench segments - the cityscape, the platform intersects, in order to constructs an even more infraction to this artificial landscape. Along the trace of the cut through the cityscape, which it crosses the urban blocks, you reach out in an inner-block void, where you are at the deepest point of the trench. Exodus of the platform let you keep in touch with the land of the trench. Whilst the platform retains its level straight at the most of its length, the ground level eleveation varies forming diverse range of space qualities to this effect.

The distance as dissociation which constructs the potentially supervisional perception of the whole, and provoke the consumption, stops its acting as long as you step on ground. By extension to the above situation, consumption correlates with the pleasure of the landscape, an artificial piece of nature. The route, then, keep going under a section of the old Arsakeio building. The inside of the wing of the building, which is placed along the route, formed as an additional spectacle to meet in font of. There, an opening crossing at left constructs the entrance to the enclosed garden. The disruption of a previous situation, hereon the act of spectacle and following the route, makes a decision to be. 16
This garden, which is emerging (in) parallel to the trenched route, surroundsencompasses the isolation and making use of the old Arsakeio building. A circulation flow between isolation and de-isolation, through corridors, cell-rooms, baths and a living room inside of an enclosed garden.
The decisions to be made forebode a change of the physical situation of the person (related to his environmentsurrounding), presuppose consciousness of the whole situation and form exordium of the isolation and de-isolation. The above deviance constructs heterochronistic situations.
«Its material foundation [of landscape] or its individual pieces may simply be regarded as nature. But conceived of as a ‘landscape’, it demands a status for itself, which may be optical, aesthetic or mood-centred. There needs to be a unique, characterizing detachment from that indivisible unity of nature in which each piece serves as a transit-point for the totality of the forces of existence. From the opening crossing out an open-air circular space. A stair around it lead you at the first inner space of the enclosed garden you can meet, under of it is crossing the route of the trench. Inside that, a non-solid space, constructed from metallic structural parts, let the sun light shine in, and, lead you then, to the previous wing you met but with reverse course, passing through five corridors, in parallel among them, crossing allong the wing of the building.

Each corridor lead you to an isolated room. These cell-rooms function as temporary host spaces as well as quiet spaces of musing. The corridor crosses beside the room while you can get into using a stair.

The circulation that establishes parallel and reverse to that of the trenched, leads to a circular flow along the building. The isolated routes coming in from the corridors end upon two transitional spaces, where the existing two wings of the old Arsakeio building occur interconnected. The second and third level of this wing have reformed as baths and living room, respetively.

The vertical circulation flow at this wing, as well as the exit to the courtyard or the roof, accomplishes through a tower besides the wing. Moreover, the exodus from the enclosed garden occurs from the top of the tower, through a platform.

The last garden is facing the hill of Dasillio. The entrance to it through the trench considered as an ascend. This ascend to the surface occurs through even smaller openings to the surface-of-ground which they also form the landscape, to this effect. As they construct autonomous spaces, even they interconnect between them from the undergound level as such. Various qualities of a space, etheir at the surface of the garden or in the structures that are established on, are parts to the composition of as a whole, forming the open garden. There are, also, vending machines scattered on the surface. The platform is an even more spectacle for anyone on these earthly spaces. As it costructs supervisory perception of the whole earthly situation while the exodus from the enclosed garden occurs. Even more about the splitted hill that formed throughout the Kanakari street reaming of.

Gordon Matta-Clark introduces - with the issues of functionality that arise through his work a problematic about functionalism and its effects on the post-war city. Functionalism, with its dogmatic impositions, created an inhospitable environment for human habitation and life. The failure of functionalistic modernism to preserve its intentional social project, led to utopian quests, with the goal of criticizing modernity and the society that adopted it. Within that framework of criticism and redefinition, with a more sober attitude other architects have been involved in the search of possibilities capable of overcoming naive functionalism. The -various- new approaches have led to new trends, post-to-modern. The rise of topophilic theories and the tendency for rehumanizing architecture, however, finds its full expression in a tendency -in a completely different attitude that of supererogation, thus making placesthat of “Critical regionalism”. Critical regionalism, as a set of principles-strategies facing the issues on the phenomenon of place, is presented as a critical paradigm in opposition to the destructive consequences of naive functionalism. In this, the possibility of the local, involving the “man” and his “habitation”, the universal is concrete and the real is taken into account. In contrast, in “The Generic City” by Rem Koolhaas, the acceptance of the real is the base and nothing concrete is made. The general prevails as the only possibility. Based on the above, it is attempted to present the critical possibility of making places.

The fragments of the museum, which they function as crypts, let much more space on ground free for a new park to-be-constructed as an expansion of the existing Plato’s Academy park. The fragments which they host the most of the museum - the permanent exhibitions, make a whole in the centre of the park and form the main circulation axis in its centre, as the outdoor activities and temporary exhibitions standing in its periphery function more as capacitor of people on the surface-of-ground.

The whole field full of greenery follows a -locally- more strict structure than the buildings and arrange places in the space of the park through subsections of green elements, instead of pure and fully defined lines of path which they make nothing else than partitioning the land. A network of téléphérique aerial cableway, observatory rooms and two central stations functioning as points of arrival or departure at Nea Makri and Marathon city, connects places of hyper-local interest of the region making up a supervisory perceived experience of the area while they form attraction qualities itselves. This proposal attempts to design the two Town Halls of the project focusing on the two central stations, the points of arrival and departure of the Host-Tour network. Both based on common design fundamentals attempt to make up a first impression while hosting guests and provide plethora of functions such as living, lecturing or meeting, eating or drinking. Placed on a heightened plaza, at the two biggest cities of the municipality, it becomes the first step about a renegotiation of the correlated boundaries and scales of the whole region. 48
general concept In the first place, the existence of the two central stations as points of arrival or departure of the tour into a big plaza, at the two biggest cities of the region, make up something big enough that expands at points of hyper-local interest into the region of Marathon municipality, along a network of téléphérique aerial cableway which culminate in the observatory rooms. Such a hyper-big thing distorts the physical or dimensional aspects of the region in a way of debatable correlation about the scale and boundaries, proceeding to renegotiations about. You either exceed the boundaries or you make up contexts and exist inside.

The prominence of site as well as the character of this project guides the passager-visitor to involve into a ritual. Separation - from a previous state of being, liminality (transition) - into an other state of, incorporation - being into or one having confirmed in his “new� identity then re-enters the society with a new status of being. A rite of passage is an event which signify the transitional phase of one’s status to another. As it seems irrational or non-contiguous for an outsider, for the passenger it is distinguishable that it may be perceived as such for a non-initiated. The realization of the above contibutes to the familiarity of the place in a way of a situation you involve in. The situation of the walls (45 degree) constructs a kinematic experience as the observer moves along the site whilst he perceives either a rhythm or a non-continuous space, etc, depending on his movement. The distinction between outside or inside is quite vague - space neither inner nor outer. Our relation (the self) to the space (context) and to the object (specific) requires our passthrough.
