Kintsugi The Japanese word ‘Kintsugi’ has two distinct meanings. Translating to golden joinery in English, the homonym is the art of repairing broken pottery with gold. It also has a philosophical definition; the breakage and repair of an object becomes a part of its history, rather than something to disguise. Everyone opening this month’s edition has been through some amount of tussle. It is part of what being human is all about, the natural balance between struggle and success. We all are trying to sculpt our lives the best way we see fit, and of course, like any art project; we may slip along the way. However, we always can pick that once-fragile wonder off of the dusty art room floor and put it together better than ever. More often than not rediscovering a passion can spark a change in our being. Case and point, Jelena Petelinkar, a TV presenter and professional fitness coach, who is also our feature story this month. Her toned and athletic physique hardly happened overnight. Rather, it was the breaking down of potential harms to her body. If you’re looking for some inspiration to take your craft to the next level, check out our article on Efficient Time Management, by our in-office social coach Shivani. And certainly the incomparable Lady Gaga is a great example of breaking boundaries. I haven’t made all the right choices. I’m learning to accept this fact rather than be embarrassed by it. However, I embrace in the virtue that my life, and all of your lives, is paved with gold. On behalf of the staff at one8one and everyone featured this October, we hope you enjoy this month’s edition.

Have you ever been irritated by the sound quality of your phone speakers? Then Audibly is an effective solution. Now, you can blast your favourite songs from multiple devices creating a virtual surround sound feel. It’s absolutely essential for every study group ever. It is also a very easy app to use. All you have to do is have devices near each other and have an internet connection. It is impressive how well the app works. Now all that is left is to agree on some good music.
If you are not that great with recording videos, and always end up with two black bars on either end then this is the app for you. Horizon uses the inbuilt accelerometer to record your videos in the landscape mode. This is great for ameatuer videographers who use there phones to shoot videos. In addition Horizon can shoot videos in 2K resolution and offers slow motion filters.
Snake 2K (iOS, Android)
Swing Copters (iOS, Android)
Take a trip down memory lane with Snake 2K! This is a remake of the original Snake II, complete with dotmatrix display and monotone sounds .It is as addictive (and frustrating!!!) as the original, play Snake 2K and be prepared to lose some productive hours. The controls, which are shown on a Nokia 3310 phone skin, are the original 2, 4, 6, 8 for up, right, left, down respectively, giving it an even more nostalgic and real feel. You get to chose from a variety of different and complex mazes and snake speeds to increase the difficulty of the game even further.
From the creators of Flappy Bird, the game that redefined the mobile gaming industry in the beginning of 2014, comes Swing Copters, and this game is here to do just that. The similar graphics gives the game a really arcade feel. The player controls a character with a copter by tapping on the screen to change the direction of the character. The purpose of the game is to avoid the obstacles by switching the characters direction. As easy and as simplistic as that sounds, the game can prove to be very cumbersome, a worry many had with Flappy Bird. But the difficulty makes for the fun of it.

Album Reviews by Jacob Stenhouse
Zammuto Anchor The phrase ‘a musical collage’ gets thrown around way more often than it should. The sound of your song playing on the AUX while your friends iPhone rings? ‘A musical collage.’ The howl of alley cats outside with traffic horns below? ‘A musical collage’. The layered musical pieces that once defined music are falling by the wayside. Frontman Nick Zammuto (formerly of The Books) and his self-titled four-piece band are trying to change that trend simply by blending several unique styles and instruments into one tightly-packaged album with a snowy hut on the cover. Anchor takes on the load of embodying a new project while remaining true to older projects- a beautiful challenge. The songs come across as busy, sometimes rushed at points. However, the brilliance of the melody and the sheer desire to experiment shows that Anchor is a solid ‘electro-alternative’ release.
Raury Indigo Child Raury is an 18- year old East Atlanta native who finds inspiration from alternative rock, blues and electronic music. First of all, it’s nearly impossible to categorise Raury’s music. It’s not ‘folk-rap’, ‘trill-blues’ or any other nonsensical genre latched on to the music. When you listen to a track like "Amor", Raury transitions back and forth from rapping, to a power ballad backed by a Slash-like guitar solo, and it simply sounds great. The two tracks that garnered the most attention from the album are "Cigarette Song" and "God’s Whisper." "Cigarette Song" is a soulful recap of a lost lover with choppy, melodic guitar rifts; "God’s Whisper" is the opposite- a heavy chant song accompanied by claps and deep drums. Raury isn’t afraid to try something new on this album. It works most of the time, but on tracks like "Chariot of Fire", a honky-tonky country song, it doesn’t come across as crisp.
Jhene Aiko Souled Out Contrary to the neo-soul vibes of early 2000’s R&B, Jhene Aiko puts her spin on trap and R&B with a psychedelic twist. The combination comes off relatively smooth as Jhene’s soft vocals seem to balance out the wooly drum loops and heavy 80’s. The lyrics of songs like "Eternal Sunshine" and "Wading" are filled with angsty themes like mistakes, pain and death. On the track "To Love & Die", Aiko sings blissfully “I’m just a prisoner to your army of one.” Somehow, the LP seems to compensate for some dark subject matter with Aiko’s voice lighting the lantern through the musical journey. Souled Out is an atmospheric hum-along album that leads R&B to a higher plane. Jhene Aiko’s project is uplifting and swanky enough to enjoy with your friends yet relatively mellow to vibe to after a long day.

In all honestly, we can say that there was not a single character that stood out on their own because all of them had their own quirks and personalities that made us look at them as distinct individuals which helped the characters support rather than overshadow each other. Driveclub “driveclub has all of the basics making it easy enough for anyone to pick up and play instantly”
The experience of bringing a full-frontal racing experience to the comfort of your couch has been a hurdle to cross for most gaming developers. Evolution Studios is looking to take first position with their newly slated release of Driveclub, available this month. The studio has grown some clout with its release of Motorstorm and set spinoffs that followed for Playstation 3. Driveclub looks to steer in the opposite direction, delivering players a crisp, on-road driving experience with the intensity and diverse landscapes of off-roading; think Grand Turismo meets Need For Speed. The first thing that you will notice about Driveclub is the next generation graphics. Evolution Studios, the developer of the game’s in-house engine, has committed itself to creating a dynamic racing environment within the game. At 1080p and 30 FPS, Driveclub’s system provides a clean racing experience on exotic locals from Norwegian Mountains to crowded, Roman-metropolitan streets. What sets Driveclub apart from its predecessors is the concept of racing as a team. Through online play you will be able to form ‘Driving Clubs’ of up to six players and rise to the top of the polls as a team. The game gives you full customization of your fuelled up fantasy ride. And since Driveclub’s premise is a team-racing basis, imagine you and your club mates showing up to a race with matching colours.
by
On a technical racing-game level, Driveclub has all of the basics making it easy enough for anyone to pick up and play instantly. Offering five unique points of view to Jacob Stenhouse drive from. The initial release of Driveclub was delayed after its screening at E3. It seems that the delay was for good measure, as October release seems fully locked and loaded to "wow" the players. The studio put major efforts to make the cars feel as real as possible, not just by adding the option to play with a standard driving wheel, but also by improving the audio. The developers spent a painstaking two and a half years traveling the world, recording bespoke audio for every car in the game, from Ferrari 458 to Mercedes Benz SLS AMG. Be on the lookout for Driveclub.
Scribblenauts Unlimited (Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and PC) Scribblenauts Unlimited has finally arrived in European territories (and of course, here) and it has to be said, it is amazing! After the initial release of Scribblenauts in 2009, the franchise has not only gotten better over time, but has revolutionised the face of gaming as we know it. From adding adjectives to your words in the second instalment, Super Scribblenauts, to being able to play it on your mobile device, and at the cheap price of one dollar in Scribblenauts Remix, to now being able to visit different locations, each with their own nooks and crannies, waiting to be explored and solved. If you haven’t heard of this game before, Scribblenauts puts you in the shoes of Maxwell, who must collect Starites by helping people to stop his sister, Lily, from being turned to stone. But you didn’t come for the story. You came for everything else this game has to offer. At the touch of a button, you can summon almost anything your little heart desires. Want a giant, flying unicorn? Sure! Want to race against Link and his trusty steed, Epona? You can do that too. Want to fight crime with Batman? Well, you can’t do that (at least not in this instalment). You see, going back to how I said your imagination is now unlimited, I lied. Not everything is in this game. Sure, there’s loads of stuff already available, but any copyrighted material or a few choice words won’t be there. Sorry. Even a few adjectives, that would seem helpful, are oddly missing. However, this doesn’t detract from the fun. There’s a plethora of puzzles hidden across the land to discover and slowly, you’ll become absorbed into this adventure. Scribblenauts Unlimited really has taken a huge step in the right direction, in terms of content. Other than a variety of hub-worlds scattered across the land, there are now features like an object editor and even an avatar creator. Let’s start with the object editor. Obviously, you edit objects. You start with a base object and can then combine other things and create a completely new item, that can be summoned at any time. This is where the avatar creator comes in. You can make it as serious or zany as you want. Top hat? Boom, top hat. Robot arm? Bang, robot arm. Killer hairstyle? Shazow, why not? On top of this are the cameos of various Nintendo characters including, but not limited to, Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Link, Zelda and Ganondorf. The problem lies in the fact that there is only a grand total of twenty of them. Although there are a few things that could have been altered, ultimately, this is a must have game. The sheer amount of content is just mind-blowing and I know fifth cell have put a lot of heart and effort into this game. While this game isn’t for everyone, maybe the art style or lacklustre combat mechanics keep you from playing this game, Scribblenauts Unlimited is a joy to just sit back and go at your own pace through this grand quest to save Lily. Scribblenauts Unlimited is now available on Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and PC.

ArtRave in Dubai
Artpop is undeniably the most ambiguous album mother monster has released, trying to fuse two disparate worlds, she is trying to make art mainstream and accessible.
The live representation, the ArtRave, was no exception, we braved drowning in humidity amongst fainting little monsters to experience the much hyped global phenomena that is ArtRave: an explosion of fashion, art, music and rave culture. The queen of self-acceptance was incredibly beautiful and managed to craft her outrageousness into a form that was culturally appropriate yet still quintessentially Gaga. She was incredible and delivered a killer vocal and theatrical performance. Her message, albeit confusing, was that of love, peace and acceptance; both personal and between different cultures- highly apt in multicultural Dubai. Emotionally it was a twisting and surprising journey of chaotic euphoric dancing to lump-in-throat inducing poetic lyrics. With high energy dance tracks like "Poker Face" and "Venus" being balanced out by incredibly intimate moments in "Dope" and a brilliantly beautiful and genuinely heartfelt acoustic rendition of "Born This Way". It was more than just an album promo, it was a journey through the years of Gaga's greatest hits, she went all out for her Middle East debut. It was so great hearing her older hits thrown in among her new tracks. Gaga seemed immensely grateful and humbled for the chance to perform in the Middle East and being her beautifully melodramatic self, shed more than a few tears throughout the performance. I walked away inspired, ignited perhaps. The ArtRave was and still is an example of how two subcultures with near polar differences can come together and merge into something both amazing and beautiful; indicative perhaps of how, despite our differences, we are all part of the beauty of humanity. Artpop could mean anything. by

Games 14
With most annual conventions, people start to compare them with last years. For Games 14, the comparison was between the games showcased, special guest appearances. So it gives us great pleasure to say that Games 14 really exceeded any and all expectations that were present. The amount of people that attended showcases how successful the event was. It exceeded last year’s figure of 23,000 people and it was absolutely fun packed! We got to see the Xbox and PlayStation team talk about their respective consoles (Xbox One and PS4) and what we can expect from it and the games that go with it. It has really got us psyched for the PS4 pursuing the ‘Share Play’ ability and Xbox One’s target to get Xbox games to be playable on PC. They both promise a very game changing update that could help gamers finally choose which console had indeed won the so-called ‘Console Wars’. As an avid gamer it was really empowering to hear Ian Livingstone advocate the gaming society and how gaming has progressed through the years. The attendees felt very nostalgic when the old Tomb Raider game was shown on the presentation and it was compared to the latest one. It was truly remarkable to see how far the gaming industry has progressed. The really amazing part of Games 14 was that it was enjoyed by both gamers & non-gamers alike. Games 14 has been the perfect platform for people to explore the amazing world of gaming. From your favorite TV/Movies/Anime characters, to just enjoying the company of other people with similar interests, it was certainly an incredible event… Did we mention that they had ROCK CLIMBING!!? The games that were showcased were absolutely amazing. Being a diehard Street Fighter fan, I was pleased to see the amount of people in the line to play the new game. There were games for every type of gamer. For the racers, DriveClub and Forza Horizon 2 were the highlights. For all the FPS fans, Destiny, The Order: 1886 and COD: Advance Warfare were of more interest. For football fans, they had FIFA 15 and PES 2015. The guest appearance of WWE wrestler Sheamus was one of the many highlights of the event. Others being Ubisoft’s showcasing of the upcoming Assassins Creed game Unity and even the exclusive survival challenge from Alien Isolation, a game spin-off of the Sci-Fi film Alien, which was made in 1976. The Games 14 has really left a massive expectation for Games 15 but I am certain that it will surely exceed our expectations just as they always do. by

An Open Letter to a Fresher by
Fatima Talib
Dearest fellow freshman, First of all, congratulations! You’ve survived overly enthusiastic guides, stressful admission procedures, and the nerve-wrecking waiting period. You’ve finally made it to the homestretch! So whether you are going to college in the UAE or traveling across the country or around the world, it can be terrifying. But it can also be your life’s greatest adventure. What you do in your first year of college can have a big impact on the rest of your college years – not to mention on the rest of your life. Here are some easy tips and tricks to help you balance and make the most of your freshman year:
You are in charge of your life: balance it. This is a big one! Don’t just try to accomplish small mindless tasks because this won’t get you anywhere. Prioritise based on deadlines, importance and size and anything else that is relevant. If it is a big task, break it down into smaller chunks to accomplish over the days until due. This way, the task won’t be overwhelming or cause much stress.
Sleep well. Adequate sleep is essential for college students. Believe it or not, it’s when you’re asleep that most of the work of learning happens – that’s when the brain processes and files away the stuff you stored in shortterm memory in your classes the previous day. Losing sleep causes stress, which affects performance on tests and quizzes.
Management of time is vital. As University students, we have to invariably juggle between studies, social life, ‘me’ time and all the extra effort in taking care of our self like a real adult. Keep track of everything in a planner. (Read more about how to manage your time by reading the Efficient Time Management article in this issue.)
Meet & Greet! It’s important to make an effort to meet people and the orientation is a great start for all of us. Everyone is new and looking to make some friends. Still, be open to interaction. Don’t be afraid to ask for numbers or take a chance and find a seat next to someone new in the cafeteria. An even better idea is to go out and join a club. Whether you’re interested in environment, creative writing, or sports, go for it! Don’t feel the need to limit yourself. Just make sure you don’t spread yourself too thin.
Remember, you are here to learn. Your parents, or the people who gave you that scholarship, aren’t paying the big bucks for you to party your grades away. Always make sure you balance it all. Have I stressed that enough? By paying attention in class, participating, and planning ahead all of us will do just fine. Take advantage of office hours and review sessions.
Eat healthy food as much as possible. The food court is great for hanging out with friends, meeting new people and also for indulging in fast food. However, it’s important to make sure we watch what we eat. Let us try and keep ‘Freshman 15’ a myth for as long as we can. Stay active and stay healthy—your body will thank you.
Embrace your good and work on your bad. I’ve never been a fan of the saying “I was born that way,” no matter how catchy of a song it makes. Whether you want to admit it or not, we were all born with some bad habits and not so sunny dispositions (e.g. moodiness, the tendency to be rude, walking catastrophe etc.), but that’s okay, because the point of this life is progression, and there is no better way to start than at University. So try and become the best version of yourself. Instead of accepting the good and the bad in your personality, enrich and strengthen your skills and your positive attributes (such as charitableness, optimism, etc.) and work on minimizing, and eventually COMPLETELY OBLITERATING your negative ones.
Apart from academics, keep your creative side alive. Whether it’s belting it out on stage or designing, you need to find out what you love about life, and it needs to be productive. Close that Facebook page! Find that one thing that you just can’t get enough of and run with it. But don’t just hide it in your room; find a way to better the world around you with your passion. Also, creativity will ease the moments of stress you will inevitably face while working diligently towards your degree.
For most of us life is taking a completely new direction and it is important to turn all the changes we face to our best advantage. Best of Luck!
Cover Story
Jelena Petelinkar Jelena Petelinkar is an international award winning Fitness Model and Personal Trainer, and has successfully been in the Fitness and Health industry for the last seven years. This Dubai based Double European Champion in Fitness has a deep passion for helping and inspiring individuals to lead a healthy lifestyle as well as maintain a variety of workout regimes that is appealing to a wide variety of clientele. She has a huge fan base due to her success with clients, fitness competitions and through her modelling career. What inspired you to become a professional personal trainer and fitness model? Ever since I was a young girl I have always been passionate about sports and physical activities, and I have found that I felt so much better about myself when I exercise. Early on in my career I had also decided to compete in several fitness competitions with the careful guidance of my trainer, and through this venture I started to receive a lot of inquiries about fitness modelling work. At the time it wasn’t something that I ever thought I would be good at or something that I would be interested in. But after a few shoots I found it to be very enjoyable, fun and rewarding. Together, both personal training and being a fitness model, has helped me to empower individuals to exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet as it can do so much for their physique and self-confidence. What is the best thing about your job? The best thing is that when I wake up in the morning I don’t feel like I am going to work. I find it fulfilling to help people to achieve their personal fitness goals and if I can help bring a smile on their face when they look at themselves in the mirror I know I did a great job. Seeing the difference I can make to a person’s life makes me feel happy and proud. To me it isn’t just about changing a client’s physical appearance but also enhancing their mental wellbeing which makes them feel more content in their personal life. Seeing these positive changes and receiving feedback from my clients gives me the motivation and enthusiasm to continue doing what I do and work harder. This in turn motivates me to stay healthier and keep challenging myself to do better.

“I work-out six days a week, and start out with one hour of boxing in the morning, forty to sixty minutes of circuit/ interval training or cardio in the afternoon, and then one and a half hours of Bikram Yoga in the evening
What are some of the challenges you face in your job? The biggest challenge is to motivate people to start and to be consistent with their exercise regime. To me, personal training is not just a one hour session, but it is also a Life Coaching session as it is very difficult to change the client’s lifestyle and habits especially in a fast paced place like Dubai. I am always available to my clients 24/7, and help them to make better food choices based on their dietary requirements as nutrition is a very important aspect to achieving their goals. How do you prepare for a fitness modelling and personal training session? I follow a special diet and workout regime for fitness competitions and modelling projects. I usually prepare for fitness competitions 12-14 weeks ahead and become quite strict about my diet. During this time I add special formulas to my food and increase my workout from one session per day to two times per day, during which I do a mix of cardio, weights and practice Bikram Yoga three times a week. To prepare for the personal training sessions I always make sure to complete a thorough assessment of what the individual wants to achieve and together we set short and long term goals. I also keep in mind the client’s dietary needs as those are unique to their age, weight, activity level, health status, cultural variance and how stressful their work and personal environment is. I also like to keep myself updated with the use of forums, magazines and fitness expert blogs to ensure I have a variety of exercises at my disposal to avoid repetition which can make the client bored and demotivated. Taking into account all of these factors, I develop a comprehensive nutritious diet and exercise program that fits the client’s lifestyle to help them achieve their fitness goals. How long have you been living in the UAE for and how long have you been a personal trainer and fitness model? I am originally from Serbia and have been in the UAE since 2012. I have been a personal trainer for the last seven years and currently I am an advanced personal trainer at Fitness First in Dubai. I started my fitness modelling career when I was 18 years old, where my trainer saw my progress and dedication and registered me for my first fitness competition in Serbia. During my first competition I came in third place after which I competed for the European Championship where I took first place and I came in first again in 2013. Ever since 2009 I still have the motivation and passion for fitness competitions. What is your current exercise routine? I usually like to plan my workout schedule one week in advance as I love doing a variety of things but I have a tight work schedule between personal training and modelling. So right now I work-out six days a week, and start out with one hour of boxing in the morning, forty to sixty minutes of circuit/interval training or cardio in the afternoon, and then one and a half hours of Bikram Yoga in the evening. This keeps me motivated and rejuvenated for the week.
36 What keeps you motivated? I believe in motivating myself and I feel even more motivated when my clients work so hard to perfect their health and that just fuels my passion to look and feel good about myself. As human beings our bodies keep changing and get used to the work out that we do which is why I like to constantly vary my exercise routine. Are you a healthy eater? I have been eating healthy and clean food for the last five years. I don’t eat any junk food as it has zero nutrition and doesn’t add any value to my overall health. I like to eat six times a day; out of which three meals are snacks and the other three are proper meals. My usual meals consist of broccoli, salmon, eggs, sweet potatoes, spinach, kale and quinoa. My snacks usually consist of energy bars, protein shakes and nuts. Overall, I like to feed my body healthy and nutritious meals as I truly believe that you are what you put into your body. What is your favourite meal? In one word ‘Sushi!’ I just love it. Give us your best exercise tip? Well, I have three great tips; the first is to plan. I believe in planning in advance. I understand that we are all very busy in Dubai and so if we plan and get ourselves organised we make it a habit which in turn makes it a lifestyle. As someone once said ‘If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!’ The second tip is to stay motivated. You can do that by inviting friends, family members and co-workers to join you when you exercise. That way you can stay motivated while keeping each other accountable to stay committed to the fitness program. The third tip is to try new things as you get demotivated when you are bored. So the best things to do is find a new sport or fun activities that you would enjoy. The variety will keep you on your toes and you might even discover a hidden athletic talent. Exercise doesn’t have to be boring and when you are having fun you are more likely to stick with a fitness program. What is the one piece of advice you would give the people of UAE? I always tell my clients "If your workout doesn't challenge you, then it doesn't change you!” which is why it is very important to try and stay motivated, be healthy and positive in your life. Try and challenge yourself, get out of your comfort zone and only then will you see the magic of what your body is capable of.

ASUS ZenPhone 6 The recent rise in demand for phone tablets or phablets has seen every major phone manufacturer change their products' design and functionality. Consumers have been noted to demand devices with a larger screen. With a larger, higher-pixel screen, users can now access videos and play games with ease like never before on their mobiles.
HTC One
Enter the Asus ZenPhone 6, the sixth instalment of the ZenPhone series. Granted, the phone has been launched under a fraction of the publicity of another large-screen phone- the iPhone 6. Here an in-depth look inside the cell phone.
“ZenPhone 6 offers a very solid experience with a sleek design”
Hardware The most noticeable facet of the phone is the 6-inch screen that measures 1280 pixels by 720 pixels. Granted, this is not based on now industry standard HD screen that most phones have. The phone’s back cover is made of a fairly durable plastic. The phone’s back comes in variations of gold, red and the black colours and can take a fair amount of wear and tear. At just under 10 mm thick, the phone is thinner than it’s elder cousins in the ZenPhone series. Software Now to the ZenPhone’s bread and butter. Like all ZenPhone models, the ZenPhone 6 uses an Intel Atom processor; a 2GHz dual-core Z2580 chip. As is standard to all Asus phones, the mobile runs on Android 4.3 OS released earlier this year. The interface is fairly straightforward, but a little complicated and cluttered. Camera Once again, the phone delivers a now industry standard front and back camera. The rear camera on the plastic back of the phone boasts a 13-megapixel lens. The phone’s layout comes equipped with PixelMaster technology. The front camera, also commonly deemed the “selfie side” camera is just a meager 2-megapixel lens. The difference in quality of pictures is very obvious. We also noticed that the pictures were slightly darker than expected. Verdict There seems to be a clear division in the battle for smartphone supremacy and unfortunately the ASUS ZenPhone cannot compete with the highly marketable, highly user-friendly releases Apple and Samsung pop out. However, beneath the hierarchy of the two industry powerhouses, the ZenPhone 6 offers a very solid experience with a sleek design. Asus has succeeded in putting pressure on its industries true competitors, the likes of Huawei, HTC and Xiamoi. by

Acer Iconia One 7 Hardware This tablet is something Acer clearly worked on with more attention to detail than their previous products; the finish is nicer to the touch and the overall ergonomics make this tablet a joy to use. The soft rubber back helps one maintain their grip on the device while the overall weight-to-size ratio makes this gadget an easier companion to have throughtout the day.
Overall Rating: Hardware – 6/10 Software – 7/10 Camera – 3/10 Overall – 6/10
Software Running on Android 4.2.2, Acer Iconia One 7 is an affordable and relatively-relevant tablet to use for your every day needs. Indeed, it is not on par with its competition offered by Apple, however it seems Acer doesn't aim at that market considering the overall polish of this tablet. It must be added, however, Acer Iconia One 7 is no slouch and gives an iPad mini a run for its money. Running on an Intel 1.6GHz processor, this tablet is a great e-book reader, browser and, to some extent, light gaming device. Additionally, Acer did not overbloat Android with its custom software and that is a good thing. Camera Let's just say the camera is not what one would buy a tablet for. It is ok for video calling, but it should be left at that. With 2 MP sensor and no flash, Acer Iconia One 7 is not one would use to take their holiday snaps. Verdict This is a great tablet for an entry level device; it is inexpensive, however it does not feel that way in your hand. Indeed, this is not an equivalent to an iPad Mini or one of the many Samsung tablets, however, it will do the job just fine. This is a great device to take with you on a trip. by Anton Rodionov

Knock! Knock! Who's There? Opportunity by

Every time I go to make a Skype call, I see my profile photo. There I am, facing away from the camera, my face contorted in some ‘inverted duck face’ position with my goofy Aztecan pattern hat pulled to the back. My mom tells me to change it constantly when we Skype. It’s silly but I’ve kept it for nearly six months. It’s a reminder of the power of firsts and captures the first time I MC’d.
“NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT REASON. THE UNIVERSE HAS A FUNNY WAY OF PULLING ALL OF THE PEOPLE YOU'VE MET and experiences you've had together.”
Let’s be clear I am not a master linguist, nor do I have a booming deep voice. I don’t have a commanding figure for people to marvel at. I even stumble over my words sometimes. So it surprised me that I had been given the opportunity to host an event in the far off land of Ras Al Khaimah. The afternoon was set, the event was a ‘family day’ catering to the expat community. We all carpooled early to help set up for the event. Banners were drawn, balloons were blown and the smell of popcorn and cotton candy lingered in the air. As soon as the last chair was laid out on this converted tennis court, it was time for me to make the introduction. I tried to get rid of the horrible flashes of all the things that could go wrong underneath a seemingly comfortable smile. “What if the speakers don’t work?” The frequency could send the younger kids into frenzy. I don’t remember exactly what I said when the microphone was handed to me, some odd parable about community, but people smiled. It was at that moment, as we continued the day’s events of face painting, musical chairs and arts and craft stalls that all my insecurities faded away. It was all so simple; the event couldn’t be a failure because the families wouldn’t let it be. It was on my first gig as a master of ceremonies that I learned two very crucial lessons; how important it is to actively listen to kids, and the value of community. Also... never hold the microphone too close to the speakers; the static could trigger a child frenzy. From the scattered events leading up to the event until our equipment was safely put away at the end of the evening, the adrenaline rush was almost invigorating. Nothing happens without reason. The universe has a funny way of pulling all of the people you’ve met and experiences you’ve had together. I like to think of life’s joys as a huge pot of soup. We throw in things we think will be good, but we can never guess how it all will turn out. Then we taste it. And it’s flavourful and simply great because you know it will be. I must have done something right that day because the organizers had given me the privilege of hosting other small events across the UAE. Who knows where our opportunities may lead us to, so just learn to take advantage of the chances there are. I hope that at the next event there’s a photographer so that I can get a new Skype profile picture and my mom can get off my back…

Who Says We Can't? by Keertana Subramani
My parents are the pillar of support in my everyday life, and have been for the last fifteen years. But there are children who never knew their parents, or those who have lost their parents through a freak accident. These youngsters, being no different from me, are pushed to the helpless-sounding status of an orphan. However, there are generous people who raise these kids under a safe, caring shelter and groom them to become bright citizens ready to face the world. This summer when I went to India, I decided to reach out to the kids at an orphanage. My aim was to interact and connect with them, on topics such as leadership and selfmotivation, and to ask them a few questions in return for incentives. The first day my father and I approached the orphanage we were met with a warm welcome from the housekeeper ‘Amma’, who was also nursing a new born, a new addition to her large family. The kids, about forty of them, were all out to the nearest government school and wouldn’t be back till evening. The fact that every one of these children was given an education was great news indeed. The orphanage itself was a large hall with several kitchen utensils including a stove and vessels one side; hot rice was just being cooked when I entered. There was a medium sized TV on top, and the daily local newspapers were stacked outside, which I later found out the kids read. An inner bedroom provided more space, and the entire house was cosy with an affectionate glow to it. Soon, on speaking to the founder of the orphanage, I was granted permission for the session which got scheduled for the next evening.
When I arrived the next day with my father and my younger brother, I was unusually nervous about talking to the kids. Would I be able to effectively convey my intention? Would it be received well by the children? My internal dilemma stopped the moment I entered the hall. It overflowed with fun and frolic, loud laughter and games of a happy bunch of kids, ranging from three to fourteen years, girls and boys, of different races and apparent origins (some of them were Indian and others from as far as the neighbouring country Nepal) , but all of whom were one family bonded by love. Before I could enter, I was told to wait; while all the older kids helped the house keeper Amma to sweep the hall clean. Then, by what was told to me was instilled discipline, they ordered themselves into neat rows; the little ones and the teens. All of them greeted my father and me as we entered with a loud, “Vanakkam ayya, Vanakkam amma” (Welcome Sir, Welcome Madam). I was humbled and wonderstruck. I was hardly a year older to some of them, and yet all of them had such respect I had yet to learn. I introduced myself and asked a few for their introductions. They smiled and spoke freely, with innocence and happiness, which had created an optimistic atmosphere all around the place. That day the meal looked lavish, for it was a holiday: local delicacies were being fried in hot oil; there was a container steaming with luscious looking potato curry and hot rice. I soon launched into my talk on leadership, on their beauty and uniqueness, on the need for education and the delight of spreading happiness to others, and told them they could become anyone they wanted to be with hard work and self-confidence. They surprised me by being very responsive and agreeable listeners. On asking how many of them wanted to become engineers, doctors, pilots, or other professionals, a surprising amount resolutely raised their hands. I could see fire in them; great determination and even greater capacity. I could almost see the majority of them as the leaders in their respective industries. None of them mocked one another for a bad answer to a question I had asked. They helped and empowered each other and many of the older kids listened as if they truly believed that they could achieve anything. . Then I asked them a few general questions, like who is a prime minister and who currently was the prime minister of India, and I awarded the winners with small gifts, which was huge deal for them. On leaving, I left each one of the children with a dictionary and a pen, and I addressed them as my friends, as they quickly became mine. They had the most innocent and candid composure, and surrounded me after I was done with pleas to return again. I soon found that even though these kids were bereaved by the lack of parents, they actually lacked nothing at all, because they had great upbringing, support and love. They didn’t regret their condition, so it was not sad. In the close of that hour I left them with this thought: “Neither you nor I have anything to lose. We only have everything to gain. We’ve all got our basic needs met such as food, clothing, love and education. If we make the best use of these precious resources, we can climb to any height! Achieve anything! Always believe and trust in yourself. You are not alone, ever! You’ve got each other, a loving family, and the whole world willing to help. You are the great leaders of tomorrow. Believe in yourself!" Their resolute attention and determined “yes, we will!” told me that they would believe. I knew then that they would definitely reach the sky, if not higher.
HintHunt: Live Escape! Tucked away at the back of the Times Square food court is HintHunt- Dubai, a location that almost precedes its experience. The outside resembles an old English telephone booth made with bricks and a red roof. This is only right since the concept of HintHunt was developed in London in 2012. However, you’d be bonkers to expect such a recognisable décor could even give you a clue on what mysteries lay inside.
“As an unspoken oath, there are only a few things we can tell you about the HintHunt experience”
HintHuntis a new simple and fun live escape game, designed for small groups of 3-5 people. You get 60 minutes to solve the puzzles and mysteries in a tiny room. The goal is simple yet challenging: get out in time! As an unspoken oath, there are only a few things we can tell you about the HintHunt experience. First, if you are a fan of Sherlock Holmes or the cast of CSI (any season), than the HintHunt experience is a must. Even if you don’t have the chops of Inspector Gadget or the goofiest members of the Scooby Gang, you’ll find HintHunt to be extremely entertaining. If you are good at thinking on your feet, working in a team or solving puzzles than HintHunt is is definitely the live game for you. by

Creating a band is a lot like baking a cake; easy to do and difficult to perfect. The essential element of any satisfying pastry is putting together ingredients that aren’t nearly as good alone. Have you ever tried to drink vinegar? DAISYGRIM have been refining their formula since the start of their creation in early 2010, blending sounds from all over the rock stratosphere and other genres. At such an early stage in their development, the fivepiece group have already broken the frontier that many young acts in this region are striving for; getting recognition outside of the region. DAISYGRIM are fresh off a late-September tour in Europe and are back at it, looking to release their freshman album at the beginning of 2015. Crafting your own sound is no piece of cake, but DAISYGRIM is looking to make a lasting impression that has listeners coming back for more.

Musicians Is it too early to say that your lead singer Greg Brown's voice sounds similar to Hinder's lead man Nolan Neal's voice, especially on Highland Queen? That’s definitely one we haven't heard before! This doesn't surprise us though, as they do bare some similarity, in terms of the raspy voice and all. Where did the name ‘DAISYGRIM’ come from? Once upon a time in a land far away, there was a lady who went by the name of Edith Grim, But with a last name so "Grim", drummer Sultan Al Ameri decided that the lady's first name was not adequate, and did not work cohesively with her last name. He then took it upon himself to rename this lady with the much better suited fist name, "Daisy." Though the name DAISYGRIM does not only represent a renamed character from the past, it also stands to depict the on-going battle between the good and the evil, the light and the dark, the hard, and the heavy. Can you remember the oddest compliment that you as a band have received? The oddest compliment that we have received is "Aren't you guys DAISYGRIM, that fish band!?" - Yes we are! It must have been about a month after the Metal Asylum Festival 2014 where former bassist Brandon Vear decided to end the show by literally beating up his bass guitar with a fish from the super market, this incident was never spoken about again until it was brought up in conversation with an audience member from that show, although not the most cliché "odd compliment", it was pretty sweet to be reminded. It is nice to be stuck in someone’s head for the strange antics that we do as a band when we are doing a live performance. Obviously the band is influenced by a lot of alternative rock, grunge and metal. Any more subtle influences to your sound? Well other subtle influences (as you may be able to pick out) include Funk, Hard Rock, Oriental, Blues and surprisingly enough, 'Steel Panther' has slowly made their way into being an influence to us as well, check them out if you haven't already done so, they're super cool. What is the best "music movie" of all time? After a not so heated debate as a band, it was decided that the best "Music Movie" of all time would have to be 'Almost Famous'. Russell Hammond, what a character! Which films have the best album of all time? Although it was released as documentary, "Sound City" by Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters definitely had an incredible album. Do any of the members of the band have a secret talent outside of music? Good question, well apart from guitarist Theo Mahmuti having the ability to recognize people by only looking at their knees, Drummer Sultan Al Ameri along with his brother are professional stunt horse riders, Bassist Nithin as well as Theo are fully qualified audio engineers, Front man Greg Brown is a wizard at writing stories, while rhythm guitarist Andre De la Cruz had a knack for real-estate. Where has been your favourite venue to perform at in the UAE? Outside of the UAE? Our favourite venue in the UAE has to be the 'Music Room' in Bur Dubai, although we've had a lot of fun elsewhere, there is something about that stage, the sound, and the crowd that makes the venue such a fun place to play, on the right night of course. Where do you see yourself as a band in five years? Five years older, still rocking hard! What can we expect this winter from DAISYGRIM? This winter includes a change in line up with guitarist Theofan Mahmuti moving to Melbourne in the New Year to continue his studies. We plan on playing a great deal of shows around the UAE over the winter months in order to promote our debut album, which is due to be released within the first few months of 2015. However, we have yet to announce an exact date of the album launch. With some solid new material in our set list, we're looking forward to rocking out harder than ever at the upcoming shows scheduled to take place over the next season.

The Picky Eater by
Shivani Nagrecha
When most people get married, they worry about things like finance, decoration style or in-laws. But when Anjali (The Picky Eater) got married, the question was: ‘What would the picky eater and her fast food husband eat for dinner?’ And that’s when she realized that the only way she would be able to bridge the gap between her husband’s “white bread” world and her “wheat bread” world would be to cook healthy versions of foods that her husband enjoyed. And so, at the age of 24, she taught herself to cook. And hence the culmination of the blog series called The Picky Eater where she chronicles her adventures in cooking healthy meals. Please tell us a bit more about yourself. I'm a board-certified health coach, wife, mom, and food lover from the San Francisco Bay Area with a passion for delicious food and a desire to make healthy eating easy, tasty, and fun! What/who inspired you to start blogging? I originally started my blog to chronicle my adventures in cooking healthy meals for my "fast-food-loving" husband. I grew up a “whole wheat” girl, but married a “white bread” kind of guy. Hoping to prove that nutritious food could in fact be delicious and desirable, I taught myself how to cook and successfully transformed my husband’s eating habits from a diet of frozen pizzas and Taco Bell to my healthy, yet flavourful recipes made with simple, wholesome ingredients. Through my blog, The Picky Eater, I share my passion for tasty, healthy cooking.
Follow Anjali's blog at: www.pickyeaterblog.com
What is your favourite part of food blogging? I love being able to share my passion for healthy food with the world. My favourite part is when I get emails from readers telling me how much I've changed their lives and helped them to eat healthier - that is the best part of my day. What is one food you can’t live without? It's hard to pick just one! I guess it would have to be oatmeal - I eat it for breakfast every morning, it's super healthy, easy to make, and can be made into tons of different versions by adding different fruits and other mix-ins. What is one piece of advice you would like to give people trying to eat healthy? My main piece of advice is: everything in moderation. You don't have to deprive yourself to be healthy - and healthy food can taste good. The important thing is to make healthy, whole food based recipes most of the time, and then enjoy indulgences in small amounts. An 80-20 rule is a good one. Eat healthy 80% of the time, and let yourself enjoy indulgences in moderation 20% of the time.
Recipies by Anjali Red Lentil Dal
This particular recipe is made with red lentils, which have a sweet and nutty flavour and cook pretty quickly in about 30 minutes. 1 tsp olive oil 3/4 cup dry red lentils 1 cup chopped red onion 1/2 cup chopped celery 3 cloves chopped garlic 1 tsp grated ginger 1.25 tsp curry powder 1 tsp coriander 1/2 tsp garam masala 1/8 tsp crushed red pepper flakes 1 cup vegetable stock (or water) One 15 oz can crushed tomatoes 1 cup light coconut milk 1/4 cup chopped cilantro 1. Mix the ginger garlic, curry powder, coriander, garam masala and crushed red pepper in small bowl and set aside. 2. Heat a large soup pot over medium heat. Add your oil, onions and celery and cook on medium high heat for about 2 minutes until vegetables are fragrant and translucent. Stir occasionally to prevent burning. 3. Turn down heat and add the ginger, garlic and spice mix and cook on low heat for about 1 minute, allowing the spices to “bloom” until they become fragrant. Add the lentils, vegetable stock, diced tomatoes and coconut milk. 4. Bring up to a boil, then reduce heat to a low simmer. Cook with a lid on for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until lentils are soft. When lentil are soft, turn off your heat & add your chopped cilantro. Adding cilantro at the end will add a lively and fresh flavour. 5: Serve as a soup, or over brown rice with some steamed veggies, or with a flat bread.
Serves 6 1/2 cup dried quinoa, cooked with 1 cup of water 8 dried apricots, chopped 1 red onion, diced 4 cloves garlic, minced 3 zucchini, diced 2 carrots, diced (optional) 1 sweet potato, diced One 15oz can chickpeas, rinsed and drained One 15oz can fire roasted diced tomatoes 4-8 oz veggie broth 2-2.5 tsp Ras El Hanout 1 tsp Shawarma Spice Blend 1 tsp cumin powder 1/2 tsp curry powder 3/4 tsp salt 1/8 tsp cayenne powder A sprinkle of cinnamon Fresh mint, chopped Sliced almonds
Chickpea Tagine
A “tagine” refers to meats or vegetables which is slow-cooked cooked to a buttery goodness. 1. Soak the apricots in hot water and set aside so that they plump up. 2. Chop all of the veggies: onions, sweet potatoes, garlic, zucchini, etc. 3. Sauté the onions and garlic in 2 tsp olive oil over medium heat and caramelize slightly. Add the rest of the ingredients: potatoes, zucchini, carrots, tomatoes, chickpeas, and all of the spices. Add 4oz veggie broth, stir to combine, and let all of the ingredients simmer on medium heat, covered, for at least 10 minutes until thepotatoes and chickpeas are tender. 4. While the tagine is cooking, combine the quinoa and water in a pot, bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes until the quinoa is cooked. Fluff with a fork. 5. Take the apricots out of the water and chop them along with the mint. 6. Uncover the tagine and finish cooking through. Let some of the excess water boil off (if there is any). If it’s gotten dry, add a bit more vegetable broth until it’s the consistency you want. 7. Stir the apricots, mint and almonds into the quinoa, and serve.

Spin Your Health Around NY Style! by

Do you love the adrenaline of pedalling up to a peak? Flywheel, is a one-of-a-kind indoor cycling centre that truly challenges you to transform your body and have fun while doing so. It also boasts of a unique logging system, which collects the data from each of your sessions to give you a breakdown of the distance travelled, your estimated calorie burn, the average revolutions per minute (RPM) and much more. The fitness industry is in a golden age with more efficient ways to maximize our results. From Crossfit to Chess Boxing to Sepak Takraw (look it up, trust me), people love to test the limits of their mind and body.
Perhaps the only hurdle that keeps many from picking up these sports is a long learning curve, which can be tough to accommodate around the busy Dubai schedule. Flywheel’s specialty is the 45 minutes classes which adopts the principle of high cardio exercise and flips the script, making you feel like Eddie Merckx or Jan Ullrich in less than an hour.
“we were so absorbed by the spacey tunes, lcd leader board and lack of lighting that it felt as if we were powering a spaceship”
For more info and a free class sign up at: dubai.flywheelsports.com
The Flywheel experience for us began before we even stepped foot into the gauntlet of stationary bikes. The studio doors swung open and out walked the previous class; sweat drenched and battered, but with a look of accomplishment on their faces. Needless to say, this put a tight know in the newer riders stomachs. Our instructor, Nour Mansour, sat at the front of the class and led us through a gruelling trek of pedalling but also made sure to offer words of encouragement over spacey electronic music. We were so absorbed by the spacey tunes, LCD-leader board and the lack of lighting that it felt as if we were powering a spaceship in a galaxy far, far away. The two things that makes the experience great is the ability to go at your own pace on the bike and the dark ambiance of the room which allows you to focus on your exercise. Flywheel's locality and quality of classes offer a unique curveball to any fitness freak’s regiment and is a definite must try. The studio is located in the heart of Downtown Dubai near Dubai Mall and offers 48 classes per week, classes are mixed with both male and females, all classes are taught by highly qualified fitness experts.

Books
Little Women and Me Hold Tight Author: Lauren Baratz-Logsted
Author: Harlen Coben
Whether or not you have read the original book “Little Women”, “Little Women and Me” is a must-read for all ages. The novel is based on a 21st century girl, Emily, who is a typical young girl and is unhappy with her life. Emily has a school assignment to choose her favorite book and to change one thing about it- she undoubtedly choses “Little Women”. As soon as Emily reaches home, she sits on her bed to re-read the book and next thing you know- WHOOSH- she has transported into the 1800s, and is now the Middle March.
Hold Tight is a community murder mystery that builds up on different point of views. Tia and Mike Baye never imagined they'd become the type of overprotective parents who spy on their kids. But their sixteen-year-old son Adam has been unusually distant lately, and after the suicide of his classmate Spencer Hill - the latest in a string of issues at school - they can't help but worry. They install a sophisticated spy program on Adam's computer, and within days they are jolted by a message from an unknown correspondent addressed to their son - 'Just stay quiet and all will be safe.'
Emily realized that even in the 1800’s things were complicated. She was still the middle sister, who felt cast away and rejected. Most importantly, she still had to compete against her annoying sisters Jo, Amy, and Meg, not to forget poor loving Beth.
Meanwhile, browsing through an online memorial for Spencer put together by his classmates, Betsy Hill is struck by a photo that appears to have been taken on the night of her son's death and he wasn't alone. She thinks it is Adam Baye standing just outside the camera's range; but when Adam goes missing, it soon becomes clear that something deep and sinister has infected their community.
Little Women and Me” is a light-hearted, easy-read that is full of humor, romance, jealousy, sarcasm and even a little bit of seriousness. The book is in Emily’s perspective, so the audience is able to empathize with her character and understand how her feelings change throughout the story- from confusion, to excitement, to hatred, to love- this book has it all! Little Women and Me” takes a spin on the classic. Nevertheless, fans of the original will definitely see the endless references to the old book and notice how Emily alters the story. Lauren Baratz-Logsted’s novel is definitely a compelling one, with many twists that will keep readers guessing. by
ISHA BHATIA
For Tia and Mike Baye, the question they must answer is this: when it comes to your kids, is it possible to know too much? If you have something to do then its best that you be done with it because this book Hold Tight will keep you up all night in the twist and turns of events. All of the subtle yet eye catching point of views finally tie in this one big knot that keeps the reader hooked on until the very last word. Coben’s words make sure the readers are reading till their every last blink. It’s a must read thriller which does not fail to entertain especially for a reader who loves mystery and thrillers. by

Diwali: The Festival of Lights by
Bhargavi Nagrecha
Diwali is India’s and Hindu’s biggest festival of the year marking the beginning of the Hindu New Year. During this time Hindus light small oil lamps to welcome Goddess Lakshmi (Goddess for wealth and prosperity) into their homes. Diwali is also known as Deepavali, the "deep" meaning "light" or "lamp", and "avali" meaning "row". This "row of lights" is represented by lighting lamps everywhere during Diwali. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. The festival preparations and rituals typically extend over a five day period, but the main festival night of Diwali coincides with the darkest new moon night of the Hindu calendar. The festival has several historical and religious significance one of them being the safe return of Lord Rama, Sita (Lord Rama’s wife) and Lakshman (Lord Rama’s brother) after killing the demon king Ravana. This year Diwali will be celebrated on Thursday, October 23rd 2014.
Fun fact: There are around 1.1 billion Hindus (15% of the world population) who will be celebrating Diwali this year.
How does one celebrate Diwali? 1. Greet those celebrating Diwali by saying 'Happy Diwali!' That simple. 2. Light up candles and burst a ton of firecrackers during the festival as an expression of respect to the heavens for the attainment of health, wealth, knowledge, peace and prosperity. Fun Fact: Some believe the sound of fire-crackers are an indication of the joy of the people living on earth, making the gods aware of their plentiful state. 3. It is customary to wear new clothes and purchase jewellery (especially gold) on the first day of Diwali. Happy Shopping! 4. Clean your house thoroughly before the first Diwali day, so do the laundry, clean all the rooms. The cleansing is done as a symbol to rid yourself of any unnecessary elements in your environment. 5. Make the entrance/doorway to your home colourful using the traditional motifs of rangoli designs. You could also decorate your home with flower garlands and LED lights. This is a joyful way to welcome the gods and your guests. 6. In the evening, light small tea light candles and place them around your home. The lamp symbolize knowledge or one's inner light, which brings about inner peace and fights off any traces of darkness and ignorance. 7. Rasgullas (Milk dough balls soaked in rose syrup), Jalebi (Fried Dough soaked in sugar syrup), Gajar Ka Halwa (Carrot Halwa) are some of the specialties which are not to be missed. Some great Indian restaurants that serve these delicacies are Bikanerwala and Puranmal.

Managing Your Time Effectively by
Shivani Nagrecha
“So much to do and so little time.” A lot of truth to that saying huh? Wrong! We are all given the same 24 hours, but it is how we utilize it that makes all the difference in the world. So first things first, don’t see time as the enemy or something you have to struggle with. Instead see it as a friend that motivates you as that will make it much easier to work with.
Here are a few tips to help you manage your time more efficiently: Don’t multi-task
You are actually doing less while wasting more time. Instead focus completely on the task at hand, and you will notice how much easier it becomes and how much faster you can accomplish it.
Make a To-do list
This is one of the best tools for time management but use it wisely. Instead of including tasks like “plan birthday party”, break it down into smaller manageable tasks such as “bake cake” or “buy balloons”. This makes it less intimidating making it a lot easier to do.
Clear the Clutter
Take a day just to sort things out. Clean your room or workplace and organize it. You will be surprised (or shocked) to see how much time you save afterwards.
Take yourself seriously
Most of us find time to help others out and do things for them. That is good. But somehow we can’t seem to find the time to accomplish things important to us. Create time periods wherein you accomplish all your tasks with no distractions or disruptions. You can help everyone else after you’re done with your work.
Using Rewards and Incentives
Whenever you accomplish a daunting task, reward yourself. This will help motivate you to accomplish more.
Create a habit
Try to do the tasks at the same time and in the same location every day.
Grouping
Group similar tasks together. For example, tasks such as researching, checking emails, etc. need to be done on a computer. Do all these together to save time.
Prioritise
This is a big one! Don’t just try to accomplish small mindless tasks because this won’t get you anywhere. Prioritize based on deadlines, importance and size and anything else that is relevant. If it is a big task, break it down into smaller chunks to accomplish over the days until due. This way, the task won’t be overwhelming or cause much stress.
Take regular breaks
Get up and move around every ninety minutes if at the computer to refresh your mind.
Have fun with it!
Just like you need to make food appetizing, organize your to do lists so you feel like doing the tasks. Balance the fun tasks with the not so fun ones. This will make the whole process a lot more enjoyable and also help reduce stress.

Libra 22 September- 23 October Libra is the only zodiac symbol that's neither animal nor human, and regulary seeks balance in all that they do. They have a very charming personality and can sense what others want before they ask for it. They tend to make the needs of others a higher priority than their own. The Libra motto might be "To every action there is an opposite and equal reaction." It is their innate sense of cause and effect that makes them effective as a strategist. Whether it's playing chess, relationship counselling or civic planning, they know how to be effective while staying in the middle of the road. Their easy-going attitude can serve them and others well, but they must not forget their needs or else they won't have anything to give to others.
ARIES
TAURUS
GEMINI
CANCER
Anything is possible this month! You will also be able to count on Mars to boost your imagination, and desire to push back the boundaries as far as possible and broaden your horizons. After a rather turbulent period on all fronts, you will begin to find your feet, dear Aries, and good relationships will make a great come-back to join your priorities. Don't let your worries about finances and work influence your private life.
Pushing back the boundaries. This October, you will be motivated to organize your everyday life. If you manage to find a balance between your hopes and the art of the possible, you will have great personal satisfaction and will be truly able to enjoy pleasant conditions and golden opportunities for establishing things in line with your ideas, in particular by obtaining the funds necessary to undertake and weave a cocoon to protect your family and friends.
Avoiding excess. This October enjoy the feeling of being alive and ready to experience everything to the fullest. If you succeed in channelling your fantasies, you should have some great moments this October, especially from the 14th to the 17th, when you could well find that special friend or develop a closer relationship with your family. Avoid being in the extremes and learn to balance your emotions.
Stay calm and relaxed. Be careful at the beginning of the month, when discussions could be rather stormy. It would be better to speak in a calm and collected manner without getting too personal. You may have issues bringing your desires and moods into harmony, but if you manage, it can present you with a number of opportunities. On a good note you will give off an aura which will effectively enable you to attract all kinds of advantages in all business matters.
LEO
VIRGO
LIBRA
SCORPIO
The wind in your sails. A month when dialogue, communication and an open mind to others will enable you to blossom and connect with the world, with others in a positive way. People will be won over by your charisma and your ability to win over anyone you like. You therefore won't lack arguments or appeal to rally support from those who are already all ears, but also from those you deal with who could immediately turn into admirers.
Between personal growth and tension. Is your mind elsewhere in October? You will actually seem more preoccupied by work matters, especially financial concerns, than the state of your private life. Make sure then that you reserve some of your precious time for your family and friends, who will do the same and even encourage your efforts if you involve them in your matters. The planets are aligning and are moving towards making life easier for you.
On your way! The Sun in your sign will encourage you to start a new cycle of development and be bold. This will boost your energy, stimulate your appetite for life and open up new prospects. At the same time, Venus can also be relied upon to enhance this lucky trend, endowing you with a charm to-die-for. Also make sure to settle scores with family members and any other doubts you may have including yourself. Make sure to express your desires and talents.
Taking time out to prepare for a great come-back. Make the most of this phase of relative withdrawal to reflect on what you want to preserve or eliminate from your existence. Admitting your faults will be essential if you are to clarify where you stand in your relationships, this month more than ever. It would be a good idea to avoid any kind of dependency.
SAGITTARIUS
CAPRICORN
AQUARIUS
PISCES
Changing the situation. Projects dear to your heart are going to start working out for you. You will be able to count on your friends and relatives for the valuable advice you will certainly need in order to move forward in the right direction and give you reassurance that you lack neither determination nor desire. You will no doubt understand that you are currently laying down the foundations for a journey, which will sooner or later lead you to a newer vision of yourself.
Under the spotlight. You will probably be more inclined to shine in public than take refuge in private. The planets will place you centre stage and force you out of your corner, especially in your social life, where you will no doubt seek to make an impression on everyone. You seek more meaning to your life than creating an artificial image or possessions, which you will feel won't be enough to satisfy you any longer.
Green means GO! A golden month for raising the level of debate and heading a relationship in the right direction. The planets encourage you to grow and blossom. You will have the potential to broaden your horizons together and give meaning to your relations. It will be even more important to have the courage of your convictions to avoid missing out on opportunities to be happy this month. Expressing your doubts and sensitivities.
Channelling your overflowing energy. Your desires and needs will change in October. Allow yourself to go beyond your comfort zone as that will surprise those around you. There is no room for false modesty and pretences. It will be up to you to accept yourself as you are in all simplicity. Life is simple, so make the best of it and enjoy the little things with great pleasure.
