Pattern Contributors STEPHANIE CARTON The Eli Monster www.theelimonster.com
Steph began sewing as a small child. As an adult, she combined that knowledge of sewing with her enthusiasm for human factors and ergonomics to create sewing patterns that are both beautiful and well fitting. The Eli Monster combines the look of vintage with modern, time saving techniques. Steph has contributed the Portret Top to this issue.
KARLY NELSON Paisley Roots www.paisleyroots.com/
Karly is a mother to five adorable monkeys, music lover and life-long crafter. She was given her first sewing machine when she was 20 and she hasn’t stopped sewing since! She started a blog in 2014 and came out with her first pattern shortly after. You can find her at Paisley Roots, where she shares all of her sewing adventures. Karly has contributed the Graffiti Pencil Case to this issue.
DEB ZALESKI Sprouting Jube Jube www.sproutingjj.blogspot.com Deb’s love of sewing and design can be traced back to the age of 3, matching fabrics to sewing patterns. After that it was never enough, and she just wanted to learn more. Deb is a mum to four kiddos, part time graphic artist and part time blogger at Sprouting Jube Jube. When she’s not at the sewing machine you can find her in the kitchen cooking and baking. For this issue, Deb has created a tutorial to modify a denim jacket by adding knit sleeves and a hood.
KARI STEIGER Thats Sew Kari www.thats-sew-kari.blogspot.com
Kari hails from North Carolina where she lives with her husband and two girls. After she bought herself a sewing machine on a whim for her birthday, she quickly discovered the PDF world and dove in head first. Shortly after, she began her blog and testing patterns for several designers. Not only did she discover her love for sewing, she also fell in love with photography. Her two girls are her muses, models and biggest cheerleaders. In this issue, Kari shows you how to create a crop top from a dress bodice.
JILL MILLER Orange Daisy Patterns www.orangedaisypatterns.com/
Jill loves to create, and went to school to become an illustrator. After finding it hard to paint with children’s hands wanting to help, she shifted her creativity to sewing and then designing clothing patterns. As a designer, her creative passion comes through in making beautiful clothing with quality techniques. Jill has contributed the Portrait of the Artist Stencil to this issue.
FENNA BREDENHOF FABulous Home Sewn www.fabuloushomesewn.blogspot.ca
Fenna is a Christian wife and a homeschooling mum of seven. She loves to sew, read, garden, and tend to the animals on their goat farm in Alberta, Canada. She started sewing over ten years ago and has been designing patterns since 2014. The ‘On-The-Go Notebook’ was first sewn a number of years ago and has finally been put into pattern form!
BROOKE SMITH Idle Sunshine www.idlesunshine.wordpress.com/
Brooke has a passion for creating! She loves the balance that photography and sewing give to her day job and her most important role of being a Mum to three busy kids. Brooke is inspired by the perfect (and sometimes crazy) pairing of fabric combinations with patterns and is known for pattern hacking. In this issue, Brooke demonstrates how to turn a romper into a dress.
AIMEE DAVIS Daisyeyes Handmade www.daisyeyes.com
Aimee comes from a long line of women makers. She sleeps under quilts that her grandmother made, her head rests on pillowcases that her aunt embroidered, and her memories are full of time spent watching her mum and grandmother create. The majority of Aimee’s sewing and embroidery skills are self-taught, and she’d like to think there is a little bit of genetic love seeping through. Aimee has contributed the Pillowcase Skirt tutorial to this issue.
