s Freshmen in college, we wanted to create a way to further our passion for fashion and lifestyle. As strategic communication majors, we found a way to expand our expertise in marketing, advertising and entrepreneurship. Our daily habits include flipping through the pages of Elle and Vogue, retrieving constant inspiration. After numerous meetings, we finalized our mission for On Point: For the chic, college student, searching for their ultimate fashion and lifestyle inspiration, On Point provides a fresh sense of style, health and entertainment working to capture one’s best self. Through this, we wish to motivate and inspire the community of High Point University as well as the surrounding areas.

While in high school, I founded my personal blog, HaleyMorgan with a goal to inspire women all around the world to find their true and happy self through fashion, beauty & healthy living tips. As a yogi, meditation is my way to escape from the hectic world we live in, however, On Point is one of my new ways to find true happiness. Along with On Point, I star as the lifestyle correspondent for Let’s Talk HPU, I am involved in the Freshman Leadership Team as well as mentor a freshman in high school from my hometown. I hope to create my own magazine one day, after graduating, so On Point is my first step to surpassing my goals! I am so excited for the future of this magazine and hope everyone enjoys reading the articles and finding inspiration for their daily lives!

WINTER HUES
It’s that time of year again. The brisk air of winter comes in and our wardrobes call for countless pieces of clothing to layer on. Neutral tones give off a chic effortless look while still providing the opportunity to try out new trends. The lace up trend has been around since last season for a reason. With just one piece of clothing, it adds an edgy bohemian vibe to your look. In addition to trying out trends, consider investing in high quality closet essentials such as a good black bootie, riding boots, and warm accessories such as pom-pom hats and cashmere scarves. Trust me, they get you through the season and definitely last. By: Caroline Bogrette

@bohindiestream www.bohindiestream.com
Bohindie Stream (noun): A place where you can let your spirit be illuminated by your imagination Bohindie Stream is all that and even more! Started by a 19-year old, Briana Ali, this business has done nothing but flourish for almost four years. Each and every piece of jewelry has its own eclectic flair that really makes the brand so unique. No two pieces of jewelry are exactly the same which gives it character and a sense of individuality. After admiring Bohindie Stream for quite some time we reached out to the owner herself to learn a little more about this incredibly free spirited brand. To get to know her a little better, we asked her numerous questions, starting with, “How did you come up with your ascetic and vibes? Briana responded, “When I created Bohindie Stream, I made it align with my own personal aesthetic. I’ve always had a very free-spirited, eclectic vibe to my style and I wanted to infuse that into Bohindie Stream. I wanted Bohindie Stream’s aesthetic to represent letting your imagination run free. The vibes of the brand are very expressive and whimsical and you can see that through the designs, marketing, look books, language used, etc. We were inspired by her use of the word “magic” and wanted to get to know how she used it in a more mature manner than the norm. She explained to us how her life was living in that magical realm. Briana explained, “I started Bohindie Stream after my freshman year in college. I’ve always had a rebellious streak in me meaning I like to do my own thing and move to my own beat. When I gave life to Bohindie Stream, I was challenging the norm and chose to pursue something that would consume me with fulfillment. I also use the word magic a lot when describing Bohindie Stream. The way I view ‘magic’ is very subjective. I find magic in the littlest of things and I get inspired by the attention to detail in life. Just about every jewelry piece incorporates crystals and they all carry along with them deeper meanings that you can read about on the website!” After learning more about the deeper meaning of her passion, we wanted to get to know her entrepreneurial spirit. We asked, “How has creating your own business helped you grow?” She responded, “Bohindie Stream has helped me grow in so many ways. It has really given me more confidence and a lot of self-awareness. Starting it at just 19 years old really helped me in self-discovery and solidifying my identity.
FEATURE 11
“Bohindie Stream is a jewelry and vintage clothing 12 FEATURE
That age is an easy age to feel lost, but Bohindie Stream helped me carve a pathway for myself. Through having my own business, I’ve experienced a lot of ups and downs of course. I get to nurture my strengths and work on my weaknesses. I’m always growing and I think it’s important to constantly challenge yourself. The path of owning a small business is not smooth and can be very unpredictable and dynamic, but that’s what I love so much about it. I love the climb.” Briana is very interested in the fashion industry, so we wanted to know what made her jump into jewelry design. She proceeded with, “When I decided to start Bohindie Stream I had no idea how to make jewelry. I’m a completely self-taught artist and I’m constantly learning. I chose to pursue jewelry design because I wanted to create what I didn’t see. I’ve always had a very particular creative eye and an admiration for individualism. I find joy in making art to inspire others. I truly want my mission in life to be to inspire and empower others. Jewelry design has become such a big part of my life and it’s deeply gratifying to get to spread happiness to others. I want to add magic to as many lives as possible.“ Just as On Point portrays inspiring articles and tips, we wanted to know where she finds her inspiration! She said, “I’m inspired by the details of life. The way I view the world is very special to me. I’m always acknowledging the beauty in simplicity especially when those beauties are so overlooked in our busy lifestyles. Things like the way the traffic lights reflect against the wet, rain covered streets at night and the way the colors of the sky meet and collide together as the sun sets. I’m inspired a lot by nature, the universe, the unexplainable, and life’s experiences.” Along with finding inspiration, it’s safe to say she must feel so grateful and accomplished when she sees someone wearing her pieces. She agreed and stated, “It makes my heart flutter with excitement. It’s a unique feeling. I experience so much rapture seeing others enjoying my designs and that’s probably the most fulfilling part of having my own business. I remember one time I was walking around downtown Tallahassee and I passed a girl wearing one of my designs and it was a surreal feeling seeing it being worn in reality. The funny part of that was that the girl passed me not knowing that I was the designer behind the brand. It made me feel like Banksky all in incognito.” As a final question, we wanted to get advice from her. We asked, “What is advice you would give to someone who is trying to start their own brand based off of their unique style and personality?” She responded with, “I’d say do it and don’t think too much about it. I guess people like to plan a lot, but I also feel like you can over-think things that way. Some tend to wait and wait until they are “ready” and then the next thing you know you’re 70 and your bones are crippled and you’re filled with regret. I don’t believe there will ever be a defining “I’m ready” moment, it’s all up to you to just take that leap faith. You learn best by doing. I started Bohindie Stream on a whim and that helped me embrace the possibilities without possessing stressed fear. Don’t be afraid of falling down, just get back up again and again and persevere. I genuinely believe to my core that anything is possible and everything is a matter of choice. Live by the words ‘do what makes you happy and excites your soul.’ That’s what I think about at the end of the day. I often think about how short life is and that it would be a waste to do anything, but pursue what you want most out of this life. Chasing your dreams takes a lot of work and tenacity because there will be many ups and downs. BUT I promise you that it’s worth it because anything worth having won’t be a smooth path, but it will be a fulfilling one. Nothing will make you feel more alive than doing what you love.” Written by: Sophia Brown & Haley Bossart

“L.D.R as a college student doesn’t need to be an added struggle” by: DESTINY DONAHUE
Distance makes the heart grow fonder, they say, and I couldn’t agree more! Being physically apart is no reason for you to feel gloomy on the most romantic day of the year. Try these options and I am sure your V-Day will be just as amazing!
Nicole diGallorenzo & ryan vogel, 7 months
1. Kick it old school and bring out that pen and paper.
You don’t need to be Romeo and Juliet to exchange letters, trust me. This Valentine’s Day, plan ahead and send you’re cutie a love note, love letter, a printed picture of you in a frame, or something that they can simply open. You don’t need to be a complete romantic either. You know your sweetheart the best, if they don’t like that sappy stuff, send them a blank card, with just the words “Hi. I love you”, or my favorite “ily”. This shows a lot of thought with little effort. We are college students, if we can find time for a two hour nap, we can find time to drop something off at the post office.
2. Be the first person they hear from as soon as they wake up.
Just like a birthday, you really should want to be the first person that messages your partner in the mornings. Imagine waking up to your phone, maybe sad your not with your person, and boom your phone rings and it’s just the person you were thinking about. It’s a very easy way to start each other’s day on a positive note.
3. Get cheesy, literally.
Depending on your L.D.R, you may or may not have your bf/gf’s address. If you do have their address, or are not afraid to awkwardly ask for it, then send them food. No matter the distance, we all have Google on our phones now, and we can actually use those numbers on our key pads, and call a restaurant. Try and order them their favorite order from somewhere in their area, or you could pull a classic, and have a heart shaped pizza delivered. One thing on this is making sure they are home, and not coming to surprise you, lol. Can you imagine? I’m not sure what would be better, getting a surprise visit from my boyfriend, or getting a whole pizza to myself.
4. Go all the way with your effort and surprise visit them.
If you can manage flying to their area they are in, college, or driving to see them, I would. Valentine’s day does land on a weekend. I mean, I don’t know, that seems like a sign. Get interesting with it, and plan a scavenger hunt that leads to you as a surprize prize. Send this plan to them when they wake up, and you can play hard to get.
5. Watch a movie at the same time and text each other through it.
Date night is for sure still a possibility, in a L.D.R. Somehow pick a movie that you guys can both sit through and watch. Don’t waste time asking each other over and over, “What do YOU want?” Idk, YOU decide”. The actual movie called Valentine’s Day with Emma Stone, Taylor Swift, etc. is a great comedy that even a guy would enjoy. To do this date, just stream the movie at the exact same time, and facetime throughout, or text them what you are thinking. The most important part of this is to make this seem like a real date, so set a time and stick to it. Holiday inspiration 15

United Apparel
STANDING BEHIND those who stood
infront 18 Cover story
Shot in the neck by a sniper in Iraq, rushed to a local foreign hospital for emergency surgery, and somehow survived the ordeal to live to tell about it and inspire others with his continued unfailing service to our country… His name is Sean Barney, and he is only one example of an infinite number of veterans who have fought to protect the freedoms we live with every day in this country, only to return home with 1.2 million other veterans who are at risk every year of becoming homeless. On this very night, and any given night this year, almost 200,000 veterans will find themselves literally sleeping on the street with nowhere to be safe. It’s an unspeakable tragedy, and one group of High Point University students have taken action to lend a hand. United Apparel is a nonprofit organization started by students at High Point University in North Carolina. Originally, Shelter Clothing, United Apparel’s mission is to provide a unique and personalized opportunity to give back to United States veterans, who risk and have risked their lives to protect our nations freedoms. United Apparel was inspired by the realization that the very people, who gave everything to protect our freedoms, were being neglected, forgotten, and unable to enjoy freedom for themselves. United Apparel provides quality clothing that fits well and lasts throughout years of wear. With every purchase of a United Apparel shirt, a consumer will complete a donation card to write a personalized thank you note to a veteran and pick a donation item. Consumers will also receive a short story from a veteran when they receive their shirt. The goal of United Apparel is to be the first major, non-profit clothing company that is just as much a charitable organization as it is a desirable and well-known clothing brand. The donation process is much more unique and personal than others. They have created a direct line of interaction between the consumer and the veteran. “Giving back to those who went from uniting the stars to sleeping beneath them.” Cover Story 19
The original founder, Patrick Suprunowicz, originally called it Shelter Clothing. The current administration team, Darryl Remedio and Erin Haggerty, felt the brand needed a new vibe, creating the name United Apparel (UA). Their goal was to unite veterans and America by clothing. Darryl was truly inspired and determined to help veterans after he had the chance to intern with Sean Barney, who was running for congress in Delaware. United Apparel sells fashionable apparel to give back to the veteran community. In the future, they plan to expand their apparel by selling hats, accessories and bracelets, etc., and have already partnered with Just Average to make awesome camo hair ties. In the High Point Community, UA has given over 200 pounds of toiletries and food to the Servant Center. They also fill out cards to them, and students determine what they would like to donate! United Apparel is making the High Point Community aware of the everyday struggle of veterans through trending clothing. This inspires others to buy the clothing, and to support the cause while being fashionable. High Point University is proud to be number one in the state for veteran support. United Apparel is determined to make HPU number one in the country. Also, HPU has the highest retention for ROTC. Surprisingly though, North Carolina has the highest number of homeless veterans, and UA has the drive to protect them. The administrators, Darryl and Erin, have a passion for their brand and passion for giving back. Darryl told On Point that “it’s so moving when you see a veteran just light up from a simple toothbrush.” Both agree that they wouldn’t want to do anything else and they are living their dream. They aren’t working at a boring desk job, and instead they are doing something that makes them feel fulfilled and driven to change the world. The brand is so new and the owners are excited about the many varied opportunities for growth. They are so optimistic for the future of their company. They plan to move off campus and take the organization national, not only
increasing awareness locally and on campus, but expanding it to benefit veterans all over the country. In the near future, UA will be hosting a Casino Night and will bring Greek Life together by partnering with 3 fraternities. This is a never-seen-before partnership and event, so get ready for Casino Night! So how can you get involved with United Apparel? UA actually hires interns from the freshman leadership program and have already chosen 15 this year! But you don’t have to be a member to get involved; just reach out to them. Also, they are big on fundraising and securing partners. When asked what advice they would give to students trying to start their own brand, UA simply said, “Just do it.” You never know till you try it, so forget fear and go for it! You must fail in order to succeed, so get started! College is filled with opportunity and college kids love helping their peers with important projects. Get your support system together and make it happen. People won’t always take you seriously at first, but you will get through it, persevere, and succeed. Thankfully, Sean Barney was not one of the many who have fallen victim to the injustices of circumstances that have plagued so many of our veterans returning from service. Barney took a hold of the second chance at life that he had been given and committed to helping his fellow Americans by running for Congress in the state of Delaware. He still has his scar running down his neck from his ear to his collarbone, impaired movement in his arm, and the horrendous memory of the attack, but he has vowed to never let this stop him from living a life of fulfillment and purpose. Given the opportunity, our veterans stand ready and willing to continue to serve our country as contributing members of society. We can do our part to light the way. Join the fight against veteran homelessness through United Apparel. They fought for us. Now it’s time we fought for them. Written by:

THE NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
“
“
Sophomore Mitch Rissmiller is constantly trying to find ways to differentiate himself. After getting involved in High Point University’s “HPU News” shortly after starting his freshman year, he knew that he could take on more that would benefit himself in the long run. He often saw articles that others shared through group blogging websites such as The Odyssey, and although he respected them, he knew that there was an undeveloped niche when it came to college lifestyle blogging. The undeveloped niche wasn’t the college lifestyle blogging area, but rather serious college lifestyle blogging with relevant tips and tricks that could truly benefit students’ lives. After presenting this idea to his roommate, he began the thought process on his idea, which ultimately became quadGOALS.com.
(well, this isn’t their First Rodeo)
“we’re new, we’re bold, and we’re excited. we’re reinventing what it means to be a college lifestyle website!”
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
-Mitch Rissmiller, Founder, Co-Chief Creative Officer
quadGOALS started in December 2015 as a three member team who created the
initial content plan with sections devoted to Making It Work in college, Fashion, Food, Fitness, Inspirations, and The Next Level. Over the past year, the team has gone through talent recruitment and development and now consists of Founder & Co-Chief Creative Officer Mitch Rissmiller, Erika Esterline, Co-Chief Creative Officer, and Chief Contributors Veronica Fulton, Eddie Lennon, Niki Maragos, Lauren Leonard, Megan Kinney, Gina Figliozzi, Kayla Barry, Hali Siegel, and Deirdre Logan. Chief Contributors are responsible for content development over their sections, which have been developed and are: Making It Work, Fashion + Beauty, Health + Wellness, Influencers, Inspirations, and The Next Level. Under the Chief Contributors are members of the quadSQUAD, which are the 20+ writers that deliver content that is posted daily. Throughout the process, qG has kept its signature slogan, “Turning your BS Into a B.S.” and inspires readers to use the tips given to make positive strides in their lives.
PURPOSEFUL GROWTH
quadGOALS hopes to grow outside of High Point University after achieving success at its launch. As time goes on, Mitch Rissmiller hopes to take qG to other universities to expand its outreach and give more purposeful advice to university students across the country, and potentially even the world. Mitch Rissmiller describes qG’s growth strategy as “purposeful growth on a reasonable time-frame.” With over 2,000 impressions within 24 hours of the official launch, Rissmiller is excited about the success of the site and hopes to continue to position it as a leading college lifestyle website and brand.
Get to Know Mitch & Erika What does the name “quadGOALS” mean?
Q&A
Both: It’s a play on the phrase squad goals that we all know and may cringe at. Every college has some sort of quad, as in our case at High Point we have a promenade. Goals are things that we have so that we strive for to do better for ourselves. Therefore, we’re combining those meanings: we’re going to show you how to do better for yourself while at college. It’s as simple as that!
What sets qG apart? Mitch: qG gives you purposeful tips and tricks to make your college experience better. We all love reading funny articles on The Odyssey or Buzzfeed to get our minds off of life (or maybe even procrastinate a little!), but we want to give you purposeful information in an easy-to-understand way. Take what you want from it - we’re giving you everything we know! Erika: I think qG is different because it offers a little bit of everything, hopefully at a quality level, so everyday there is something new being posted no matter your interests. I think the biggest thing that makes us different though is our section The Next Level. This section focuses on career development for students by other students, so you get an idea of what your peers are doing and how to be preparing for post grad life now.
What does “Turning Your BS Into a B.S.” mean to you? Mitch: To me, “Turning Your BS Into a B.S.” means that we will help you along the way to sort through the BS in your life and be the best version of yourself in all of your actions. In the first couple of weeks since our launch, content has focused on everything from fashion lookbooks, makeup trends, and restaurant reviews to 6 steps on how to further your professional life. We’re covering as much as we can and hopefully taking your BS out of the equation. Erika: Well there’s the obvious turning your bulls*** into a bachelors degree. No, but seriously it’s all about getting the most out of what you’re doing I think. You know when you were younger and your parents made things look so easy and said it was because they worked smarter not harder? That’s what this is to me. We’re all busy and frantically trying to get everything done to get past that finish line and to graduation, but quadGOALS is all about doing that efficiently and effectively and getting the most out of it at the same time. We want to share the tips we’ve picked up with our peers to help them do this.
What have you learned about each other During the process? Mitch: I’ve learned that Erika is a powerhouse. She is the most incredible partner and complements me so well. We actually have class together for the first time ever this semester, and I couldn’t be more excited about it. We know how to get our work done but we also know how to have fun. That’s why this journey is already going so well! Erika: I think the biggest thing I’ve learned about Mitch is that he might be as crazy as me, in a good way of course. I’ve never met someone so committed to a project and so determined to make it successful. I know at any second of the day I could receive a text with some new idea or thought Mitch had when it comes to quadGOALS. He’s always thinking about how to improve because it’s just who he is, a perfectionist who probably won’t stop working ever because even if I tell him something is great he still thinks it could be better. I’m so happy to be working alongside him because I know it will only motivate me to push myself more.
What are your CAREER GOALS? Mitch: I hope to be on-air talent in an Entertainment/Lifestyle hosting role, with hopes of eventually coupling that with a lifestyle brand. I believe there is much more to television than reading off of a teleprompter, so if I can couple that with a lifestyle brand that consumers can use in their lives, it’s even better. It’s the same basis of what I’m doing with qG. Erika: If life worked out perfectly I’d love to be working at an advertising agency in post grad life. I love all of the different aspects of the communications world that it involves so I think that’s the perfect environment. Specifically I love the idea of being in account leadership because I’m all about the little details and seeing something through start to finish. But then again I’m a college sophomore so we’ll see what actually happens.

Find What Interests You
1
Maybe you’ve always had a passion for singing but haven’t found the right opportunity to display your talents. Or maybe you played a sport while you were in school and have been wishing to get back out on the playing field. Wherever your inspirations lie, identify your motivations and pursue them in little or big ways.
take action
2
Once you’ve determined your interest(s), it’s time to act upon them. In the words of Pablo Picasso, “Action is the foundational key to all success.” Want to spend more time with family? Start by calling a loved one. If you’re feeling more ambitious in your goals, perhaps this is the time to organize a family reunion. Remember, there is no action too big or too small when it comes to following your goals.
Your Time, Your Way

At the end of the day, your bucket list should be comprised of your goals accomplished your way, no one else’s. Success is not always immediate. Don’t forget to follow your passions at your own pace.

Luminous foundation
Spring is full of rain, humidity, and lots of good times. Your hair is at risk for random rain showers or even sweat from passing a soccer ball with your friends. When in doubt, dry shampoo is the answer to all your hair catastrophes.
While matte is always a good fit for the dead of winter, nothing says change to warmer days better than dewy, sparkling skin. Winter has passed and now your skin is hydrated and rejuvenated. Show off that beautiful, glowy skin with luminous beauty products like a primer or foundation.

After the joy of the holidays has subsided, I think most of us can agree that we are done with winter and are ready to bring on spring. This year we must all be mindful of taking care of our bodies and giving our hair and skin the respect it deserves. Here are our tips on how to keep your body happy and healthy for Spring 2017.
Mud Masks
Glossy lips
As the weather is changing, your skin might have a slight freak out. But no need to panic, masks are here to save the day. Whether it be hydrating, cleansing, or firming, they are the perfect way to rejuvenate your skin for the new season.
The 2017 spotlight is saying bye-bye to matte lips and hello to gloss. Although creamy or matte lips may always be in style, this year we encourage you to throw on a sheer, sparkling, or plumping gloss to bump up that kissability factor.
