Please note that the 4th annual tax relief tournament has been moved to Sunday April 15th due to a scheduling conflict with VNEA end of year league banquet.
RESULTS
Toadstool held its first annual ladies only Sunday 8-Ball Tournament on March 25th. A successful turnout of 18 competitive women from Southwestern Idaho and Eastern Oregon including our consolation champ who came all the way from Southcentral Oregon. This event attracted quite a few male fans for a packed house at Toadstool Billiards in Emmett, Idaho. Several players came together from different leagues, some of which had never played with BCA 8-Ball rules. Entries were kept to an affordable amount of $20 and greens fees of $5 were all returned to the prize money by the Toadstool to promote this annual event. When asked why we came up with this event, owners, David and Suzanne Mackey, "wanted to do something special for the ladies of pool". "This will be an annual event and shows much promise for future interest!" Each of the ladies took home a long-stemmed yellow rose from the Toadstool and a new insight into the caliber of players rising up out of our area. A good time was had by all! The Calcutta brought in a total of $260 that

March 31st & April 1st Maine Amateur Recreational Billiard League (M.A.R.B.L.) held it’s 3rd ever championship weekend “money week” hosted by Tj’s Classic Billiards in Waterville Maine. The newly formed league already has 105 players (20 teams) and plays four sessions each year with 100% payback every 12 weeks. Of the twenty teams, ten made it to the final tournament with all ten places in the money. Six teams from Tj’s Classic Billiards (Waterville ME) and two teams from Schmenegee’s Billiards (Lewiston ME) qualified for money week along with one wild card team from each location which is determined by luck of the draw. Last sessions winners, Team Beaudoin, faced a somewhat tougher road to the finals this time around. When they played a very close second match with Table Hawgs that went into tie breaker mode and was decided by one rack. They then lost to up and comers, Arabian Goggles who knocked them to the losers side forcing them to win close match after close match before finally reaching the finals late Sunday night. On the winners side, Kyle Pepin was in dead stroke as he and his team, Arabian Goggles, cruised easily through to the hotseat and eventually beat Team Beaudoin winning $2200.00 cash and the coveted M.A.R.B.L traveling trophy.
Tj’s room owners, Steve and Tammy Reynolds, and Schmengee’s room owners, Dave and Kathy Label, would like to congratulate all ten teams for a great tournament and we hope to see you all next session. $100 MVP - (Waterville) - Taylor Reynolds $100 MVP - (Lewiston) - Kyle Pepin $2200 1st Place - Arabian Goggles $1500 2nd Place - Team Beaudoin $750 3rd Place -Over Rated $400 4th Place - Redemptions $225 5th/6th - Sharks $225 5th/6th - Scratch This $150 7th/8th - Smooth Stroke4rs $150 7th/8th - Table Hawgs $100 9th/10th - Almost Perfect $100 9th/10th - Slim 2 None In addition to these payouts, M.A.R.B.L held two tournaments adding $100 to each. THE
Tiger Tour stop #3 of the season was changed at the last minute to a new venue Big Tyme Billiards , and we had 55 players show up, as there was some APA event going on the same day it took some of our players, but anyhow we played it down to the final 3 and they finished up along side the second chance event on Sunday. I will update you to the final 12 spots, all of whom cashed. The winners side final 4 pitted Jason Pearce against Ernesto Bayaua and it was a thriller and the final score was 9-8, on the other half of the winners side Manny Chau put on an exhibition against Jason Brown, Jason won the lag and that was the end of him basically, after not getting out the first rack Manny cleaned the table, then Jason did not see the table again until the score was 8-0, Manny laid down a 7 pack on him. The final score of this match was 10-1. This matched Manny up against Jason for the hot seat match, Manny had to give up 2 games to 10 and the final score was 10-7 in favor of Manny. ATWELL WINS Kick-Off event of MissCues Regional Ladies 9-Ball Tour
By Skip Maloney AZBilliards.com JANET ATWELL, CHELSEA HARDWICK, SHANNON CROSTHWAITE, & BUFFY JOLIE
Janet Atwell played both amiable
hostess and event champion at the Kick-Off event of the 2012 MissCues Regional Ladies 9-Ball Tour. In addition to the $325 first prize, Atwell's undefeated weekend also earned her an entry into the WPBA US Open in June. The $500-added Kick-Off event drew 14 entrants to Atwell's Borderline Billiards in Bristol, TN. Atwell opened her five-match campaign with victories over Jessica Human and Sam Patton, which moved her among the winners' side final four to face Melody Kuty. Buffy Jolie, in the meantime, who would end up facing Atwell twice, defeated Stephanie Goens and Tonya Wiser to square off against Teresa Gifford in the other winners' side semifinal. Atwell sent Kuty
west 5-2, and was joined in the hot seat match by Jolie, who'd sent Gifford over 5-1. Atwell sent Jolie to the semifinals 5-2 and sat in the hot seat to await her return. First up for Kuty in the loss bracket was Shannon Crosthwaite, who, following an opening round defeat at the hands of Chelsea Hardwick, defeated Debbie Cervantis 5-3 and shut out Wiser. Gifford drew Hardwick, who, after defeating Crosthwaite, was sent west by Kuty and was in the midst of a four-match, loss-side winning streak that would eventually put her into the semifinals against Jolie. Hardwick defeated Dana Cartier 5-2 and Patton, double hill, to meet Gifford.
Hardwick defeated Gifford 5-2, and in the quarterfinals, got a second chance against Crosthwaite, who'd downed Kuty double hill. A second double hill match for Crosthwaite yielded a second victory over her for Hardwick, who moved on to face Jolie. Jolie ended Hardwick's loss-side streak 5-3 and got her second chance against Atwell. Atwell took the final match 7-1 to complete her undefeated weekend. Following the WPBA Regional Tour Championships, April 13-15, at 150 N Out Billiards and Darts in Mooresville, NC, the MissCues Tour will stop at Diamond Billiard Pub in Lexington, KY on June 23-24.

Do You Perform a Post-Shot Routine? Allan P. Sand
Allan Sand is a pocket billiards instructor, qualified by the PBIA (Professional Billiards Instructor Association) and ACS (American Cue Sports). He teaches players how to become the “Intelligent Shooter” (thinking before shooting). He instills the love of winning for players at all levels and coaches “A” players on strategies and tactics. He has played the Green Game for more than 50 years – all over the US, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand. He now resides in Santa Clara, CA, and keeps his skills sharpened on a 5x10 Saunier & Wilhelm 1938 table with double-shimmed pockets. He has written many instruction books on how to play smart, including the philosophical aspects of the game (Art of War versus the Art of Pool), sharking (Psychology of Losing), defensive play (Safety Toolbox), position control (Cue Ball Control, Advanced Cue Ball Control), and practicing (Drills & Exercises). He is now producing videos that each focus on a specific aspect of the game. Currently four are available. For more information and details, go to www.billiardgods. com. The books (ebook & printed) are available worldwide on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Google Books.
If you regularly watch the same players compete week after week, you can easily identify the players who will soon be winning more games. Those are the ones that always stop after a shot and appear to be staring at the table. What they are really doing is going over their shot, comparing the new table layout with what they were attempting to achieve. These are the players that learn from their mistakes. A post-shot routine is actually a post-action analysis of the shot. It is similar to a military afteraction debriefing that compares preliminary plans with actual action to determine what worked – and didn’t. The results of this process justify changes in policy, process, and procedure. In the same way that the military uses this, you can apply the same attentive process on a shot by shot basis. This requires a certain amount of self-discipline in order to get into the habit of post-analysis. But once you start doing this, it doesn’t take long to become a habit. When properly utilized, it becomes as much a part of your playing style as your pre-shot routine. To someone observing your post-shot routine, all they would see is the cue stick stroking the cue ball, followed by several seconds of holding still. What they can’t notice is the furious activity of your brain, identifying what worked, what didn’t, and what minor adjustment is necessary for the next time. (Whew – that’s a lot of brain action.) Having a consistent routine like this supports your playing rhythm. The pre-shot and post-shot activities help develop a stable flow and game focus. The analysis process is pretty basic. When you first start doing this, ask yourself: What went right? What went wrong?
Ask these questions about the cue ball path, speed, and activity. Then, consider the object ball movement. Finally, consider the results of any peripheral balls. If any of these could have been played better, make a personal note of the necessary adjustment. Only then do you begin your table analysis for the next shot. If all went right, your self-conversation is short and sweet. If totally disastrous, you may need to stand up while considering the entirety of the consequences. Additional analysis can include consideration of your assumptions. Was the shot choice correct or could it have been better? Was the initial table analysis considered all the way through to the final stop of all balls? Was the cue ball speed what it should have been? There is usually several reasons for a failed effort. This can range from the mental process to a physical movement. Don’t attempt to correct more than one fault at a time. Fix one identifiable error first and then work on another. Never, ever throw away the experience of a bad shot. You drastically slow down your learning curve if shooting or playing mistakes are discarded without thought. When you routinely perform post-shot analysis, the process will soon move you to the next level.

DOUBLE DIPS
They played three times;
once among the winners' side final four and twice in the finals. Brian White moved to the loss side at the end of his first match versus Ron Park, but came back to win both sets of a true double elimination final and take home top honors. The $1,500-added event drew 52 entrants to Lucky Shot Billiards in Albemarle, NC. Both of the winners' side semifinals were double hill affairs. Park got into the hot seat match with a double hill win over White, while James Blackburn defeated Nolan Leonard. Blackburn was playing in his second straight hot seat match, having gotten into the hot seat the week before in Lynchburg, VA (Justin Hall double dipped him in the finals to win it). This week, Park sent Blackburn to the semifinals 9-4, and waited for what turned out to be the return of White. White moved over and picked up Kevin Boggs, who'd defeated Jeff Abernathy 9-7 and Walt Newsome 9-4. Leonard drew Marvin Reed, who'd gotten by Mike McPherson 7-5 and Kris Chavez, double hill. It was White and Leonard advancing to the quarterfinals; White with a 10-4 win over Boggs, and Leonard 7-3 over Reed. White defeated Leonard 10-4 and turned to face Blackburn, who was looking to get into his second straight GSBT final. It was not to be. White
dominated the semifinal match 10-2 for a second chance versus Park. In the first of the potential two sets, the two battled to an early 3-3 tie before White edged out in front with two in a row. They battle back and forth and White was able to extend that lead by one game and finish the opening set ahead by three at 10-7. White got out in front early in the second set, and extended his lead to four games by the 7-3 mark. They traded racks to 8-4, when White used a terrific jump shot to get out in the following rack and reach the hill first. Park came right back, using a 2-9 combo to pull back to within four again, but White closed it 1st Brian White $1,000 out, completing the double dip 2nd Ron Park $600 and securing the event title. 3rd James Blackburn $300 Tour directors Shannon 4th Nolan Leonard $200 and Marge Daulton thanked Lucky Shot Billiard's owner 5th Kevin Boggs $125 Marvin Reed $125 Steve Compton and his staff 7th Walter Newsome $75 for their hospitality, as well Kris Chavez $75 as sponsors Andy Gilbert 9th Jeff Tate $50 Custom Cues, Nick Varner Mike McPherson $50 Cues and Cases, Mike Davis Jeff Abernathy $50 Exterminating, Tiger Products George Westcott $50 and Delta-13 racks.

The Tiger Tour held stop #2 of the season at Slick Willies off of Dairy Ashford on Westheimer on the weekend of Feb 18/19th . The event drew 90 players, not bad after event 1 of the season drew 96, I think everyone is liking the new handicap system we put into play. So this event was played down to the final 16 players on Saturday whom would come back to fight it out for the cash on Sunday. Winners side final 8 matches included Andy Jethwa getting by Jason Pearce 9-5, current BCA open champion Mike Alonzo knocked Cesar Arechiga west by a score of 9-7, Ricky Hughes got by Chuck Adams 8-1, and Tom Wallace won 9-3 over John McGarvey. Now in the final 4 portion Ricky Hughes won a thriller over Tom Wallace 8-7, and Mike Alonzo sent Andy Jethwa packin 9-4. This setup the hot seat match next between Machine Gun Mike and Ricky The Rocket, Mike had to give Ricky 2 games on the wire to 9 and the score ended up being 7-2 in favor of Ricky. The round of 13/16 on the one loss side saw Joey "The Tiger" Torres edge Leon Contreras 9-8, Sylver Ochoa 9-2 over David Chow, Bobby gonzales 9-6 over David Massie, and U.S. Amateur Champion Ernesto Bayaua 9-4 over Teddy Hernandez. The round of 9/12 saw Jason Pearce end Joey Torres run 9-4, Sylver ended Cesars run 9-6, Ernesto

9-4 over Chuck, and Bobby G. 9-1 over john Mcgarvey. The round of 7/8 had Sylver cruising past Jason P 9-1 and Ernesto squeaked by Bobby G 9-7. The round of 5/6 had Sylver getting by Tom Wallace 9-4 and Andy handily over Ernesto 9-2. This set up the final 4 match on the one loss side with Andy facing off against Sylver, it was a great match and in the end Sylver won his 7th match in a row on the one loss side by a score of 9-7. Now the one loss side finals had Sylver against Mike, and Mike put on a show here as he was getting a 1 game spot from Sylver and he blanked him by a score of 8-0. Wow. The finals is now set and it is Ricky The Rocket hughes on the winners side against Machine gun Mike Alonzo, Ricky gets a 2 game spot to 9, and this match was game for game all the way to 7, which brought the end with the final score being 7-7. 2012 Bef Junior Nationals Heads to Wisconsin The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) is pleased to announce that Romine’s High Pockets in Greenfield, Wisconsin will host the 24th Annual BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships on July 11 -15, 2012. The stage is set for over 150 young billiard athletes, ages 18 and under, who will qualify to participate in the most prestigious junior tournament in North America. Romine’s High Pockets is one of the premier billiard rooms in the country, featuring forty-two (42) pool tables, eighteen (18) of which are nine-foot Brunswick tables that will be draped with pristine Simonis Cloth to make a grand arena for the event.
“We are honored to have the best junior billiard players from throughout the United States playing at Romine’s,” says Terry Romine, owner of Romine’s High Pockets and Schon Cues. “We look forward to an exciting event.” Junior players will be competing for prizes and an invitation to States at the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) World Championships.

Azemat Deals Debut Snooker Victory In Vegas ROMIL AZEMAT has become a debut winner on the United States
Snooker Association (USSA) Tour, by capturing Event 10 of the 2011-12 season, sponsored by Aramith Billiard Balls, with success this past weekend at the 4 Kaz Snooker Club & Bar in Las Vegas. This may have been the first USSA Tour victory for the Arizona resident, but Azemat has been one of the top performers in United States snooker over the past few years with achievements such as runner-up in the 2006 United States National Snooker Championship, and he was also a member of the victorious Team USA that defeated Team Canada in the 2007 Can-Am Team Snooker Challenge. Azemat's opponent in the final of this USSA Tour event, Piya Potanan, was
also once a runner-up in the United States National Snooker Championship when he lost in the final of the 1996 event. Potanan's snooker pedigree was certainly on display as he battled away in a final that lasted for four hours and went all the way, with Azemat running out a close 4-3 winner. The USSA would like to offer its thanks and appreciation to Joe Girdpool, the proprietor of the 4 Kaz Snooker Club & Bar, for his invaluable support in hosting two events on this season's USSA Tour, and to all the players who entered the event. The 2011-12 USSA Tour next moves onto the Top 147 Snooker Club in Brooklyn, New York, for Event 11 over the weekend of April 7 & 8.
