I wanted to try out the new HUSTLER cue by Tiger Products and asked Tony to send one to me for evaluation. He sent the TH-2. It has a Sneaky Pete design, which I really like. I was struck by the feel of the stick when it hit the cue ball. The Sniper laminated cue tip which comes standard provided the perfect hit. Tiger’s patented cue design is unlike any other and you really want to try this cue out. It features the Ultra-X® high performance shaft that Tiger is known for and that plays so well. Visit the Tiger Booth (23-24) at the BCAPL National 8 Ball Championships in Las Vegas in May. Tell Tony that “Stroke” sent you by to test out the cue. I recommend it. Don Akerlow, Publisher “Stroke”

Cue Cases that really BITE!!! Mel Larsen from Fort Meyers, Florida has been making one of a kind cue cases made with real sharks teeth and exotic wood. I first met Mel at the BCA Trade Show in New Orleans in July 2002. He was exhibiting his amazing cue cases. Mel calls himself an artist, inventor, craftsman and cue case designer. His latest project is the Shark Purse. Made with the same care for detail and exotic woods but in a smaller size, to be used by the ladies for a purse. Mel wrote me in March that he was builing a purse for Lady Gaga. Two of Mel’s purses are pictured below. I always look forward to seeing what Mel will come up with next. If you get a chance to see one of these cases or purses, you will be amazed.

MCMOA STATE 8-BALL CHAMPIONSHIPS 32ND ANNUAL WAS FINALLY HERE. DUE TO A SCHEDULING CONFLICT WITH THE VENUE WE WERE NOT ABLE TO SET UP THE OTBNTV LIVE STREAMING EQUIPMENT UNTIL THURSDAY BECAUSE THE NEW VALLEY POOL TABLES HAD TO BE IN PLACE FOR THE TEAM EVENT.
Billings, Montana
MCMOA We were really excited about returning to the convention center at the Holiday Inn Grand Montana in Billings, Montana. This room is spacious, plenty of room for players and guests. The tables were spaced far apart with seating in between each row. The 2012 Montana Coin Machine Operators Association (MCMOA) 8-Ball Championships. Thursday was the beginning of the tournament with a Team Championship. This was a 4 person team which had to have at least 2 original members of a VNEA Sanctioned team. Next year 2013, will be a change to the team event. All players must be a sanctioned VNEA player according to Sid president of the MCMOA. Talks are also being discussed for an A and B Team Divisions. Round Robin format with 14 teams participating. The team with the highest total points would win the event. The teams assembled and play began around 6pm. We started the OTBnTV live stream around 7:30 pm and continued until 12:30 pm. Play was scheduled to begin around 9 am Friday morning and
continue until all the teams had played each other and the champions were crowned. We went live at Noon and the tournament finished around 5:30 pm with the final match on the TV table being between the first and second place teams. The Cats Paw team had a 21 point lead going into the match. The Helena Eagles team jumped out to a 40-6 lead erasing the 21 point lead and went on to win the match 132-66 and the championship. The Eagles #4 team from Helena, Montana consisting of Dan Hamper, George Price, Jerry Churchill and Josh Morgieau. Taking second place was the Cats Paw team from Bozeman, Montana with Jeff Grinwis, Doug Crossman, Jon Kaphammer and Nick Douma. The MCMOA Singles tournament immediately followed the Team event and got underway around 7 pm Friday night players played one round or until you lost and would return at 9 am Saturday to continue. Many past winners were in attendance again this year, trying to capture another title. For the men there was Jeff Boucher (‘12, ‘07, ‘06, ‘04, ‘99), Dave Schwartz (‘00), Nick Douma (‘09), Dan Hamper (‘10, ‘08, ‘03), David Willis (‘10), Brian Dyson (‘06), John Townes (‘05), Terry Bummer (‘96, ‘93) and Jeff Grinwis (‘04). On the women’s side it was Janet Dunks (‘11, ‘99, ‘92), Linda Asleson (‘10, ‘08, ‘06, ‘04, ‘95), Morgan Steinman (‘12, ‘09, ‘05, ‘03, ‘01), Sky Tigart (‘07, ‘02, ‘96), Susan Miller (‘97) and Misty Debates (‘12, ‘09). Saturday brought some great matches to the TV Table and all throughout the event. The tournament was full of surprises. Saturday the races were to 3 while Sunday would see the men race to 4 with the finals being a race to 5 and the women to 3 and 4 for the finals. Jeff Boucher was in the hot seat in the Men’s A Singles and sat in the OTBnTV booth and commentated for several matches while awaiting his opponent in the finals. There were some good back and forths on how to play the table with different strategies between myself and Jeff.

Sky Tigart Cats Paw: Doug Crossman, Jeff Grinwis, Jon Kaphammer, Nick Douma Jeff has sat in the OTBnTV booth on several occassions. The commentary has always been interesting with different styles and knowledge of play. Jeff and I go back a long ways, back to the 80’s when Jeff was living in Butte, Montana. It was easy to see with Jeff’s commentary that the most important part of his game (between the ears) was in tune. Brian Dyson also sat in the booth for a match and gave his insights into the match we were live streaming. Brian said that he’s never had much trouble talking but sitting in the booth was harder than he anticipated. His expertise was obvious being a past winner himself (2006). The Men’s B Division was being played on an adjacent table and we were able to live stream some of the match between Dan Horn and Mike Thompson. Congratualtions Dan for winning the B Division. We went back and forth between the Men’s A Division and the B Division. The Women’s A Division was more of a challenge since they were playing several tables away but after the Men’s tournament finished we were able to live stream the last shots and see Morgan Steinman take the title against Sky Tigart. Congratulations. Unfortunately the Women’s B Division match was out of camera range and we were unable to live stream it. Misty Debates and Jessica Jenewein were battling it out for the
RENO CLUB
championship and Misty came out on top. Congratulations, Misty. OTBnTV would like to thank the MCMOA, Holiday Inn Grand Montana for allowing us to live stream this and providing us with great accommodations and a great venue. We would also like to thank Tiger Products our title sponsor. Local sponsors for the OTBnTV LIVE Stream are the Molly Brown in Bozeman, Reno Club in Billings and Rocky Mountain Gaming from Bozeman. This was another great tournament and we are looking forward to next year. See you there! On the last live streaming Singles-14 you will at the end find an interview of Jeff Boucher and Morgan Steinman. http://www.ustream.tv/otbntv-live We had over 160,000 live viewers. Thank you everyone.

COLUMNIST
Allan P. Sand How can your game go wrong?
W Allan P. Sand
Allan Sand is a pocket billiards instructor, qualified by the PBIA (Professional Billiards Instructor Association) and ACS (American Cue Sports). He teaches players how to become the “Intelligent Shooter” (thinking before shooting). He instills the love of winning for players at all levels and coaches “A” players on strategies and tactics. He has played the Green Game for more than 50 years – all over the US, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand. He now resides in Santa Clara, CA, and keeps his skills sharpened on a 5x10 Saunier & Wilhelm 1938 table with double-shimmed pockets. He has written many instruction books on how to play smart, including the philosophical aspects of the game (Art of War versus the Art of Pool), sharking (Psychology of Gamesmanship), defensive play (Safety Toolbox), position control (Cue Ball Control, Advanced Cue Ball Control), and practicing (Drills & Exercises). He is now producing videos that each focus on a specific aspect of the game. Currently four are available. For more information and details, go to www.billiardgods. com. The books (ebook & printed) are available worldwide on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Google Books.
hen your game goes off-line and your shooting results begin to deviate from your intentions, something gets out of kilter – usually your fundamentals. The problem is – how long does it take before you notice that something is wrong and take corrective action? Generally, by the time you do wake up, the game count is tough. You might recover – but the struggle to win becomes a low probability proposition. This article identifies some of the most common situations that create a handicap you could do without. If you can train yourself to recognize when one of these situations occurs, you can more quickly take corrective action. Here are the common problems.
Suddenly Stupid You make an intelligent shooting decision and get down on the shot. Suddenly, with no conscious intention, the cue ball is moving. Shocked, you watch the table layout change – usually for the worse. Probably, your hind brain took over, or your evil twin surfaced and used this opportunity to mess you up. At the wrong moment in time, your intelligence and sanity jointly agree to go on holiday. This can be costly in a money competition. Of course, your opponent could be so surprised that he couldn’t take advantage of the momentary disintegration of your focus. When it does happen, all you can do is shake your head in disbelief as your opponent takes over the table. This generally happens because your brain was multi-tasking while shooting. In other words, you weren’t focusing on the game in general and the shot in specific. Don’t obsess about it (which can further distract you). You can recover if you can immediately go back to your pre-shot routine and start manually performing each step.
Casual Laziness You begin the competition with all necessary awareness and intentions. Your first few dozen shots are all perfect examples of focus and attention. Your very success and the pride you feel in making the cue ball do what you want becomes your downfall. You relax your intentions (or drink one too many beers). The initial success goes to your head and you (incorrectly) assume you are at the top of your game. After all, recent history has proven your unstoppable skills. Arrogant trust in your competence becomes your new attitude. For an observant opponent, the next few missed shots demonstrate a weakness in your game. He starts saying things like, “So close” and “You almost had
that”. You go along with the idea and agree that the misses are simple bad billiard god luck. He snaps up several quick wins.
Bumbling Imagination This is another way to help your opponent win. All that is needed is an uncontrollable imagination. It occurs most often when you are doing your doing practice strokes. An alternative option bursts upon your consciousness. Instead of stomping on the idea or getting up to reconsider playing options, you change your bridge height and position and go for the new shot. You look at the table results and aren’t even ashamed of yourself. Your opponent loves you and considers congratulating you on your decreased skills.
Body Distractions Another reason to justify reduced attention on the game is bodily interference. There is a close correlation between the operational condition of the body and the ability of the brain to function. Your body has many ways to interrupt your attention. Among these are hunger pangs, headaches, an injury, or excessive flatulence. Your body can also run out of energy. This physical weakness causes the brain to stop functioning properly. This can result from poor nutrition, weak muscle tone, or even limited stamina. Any of these reduce your ability to play well.
Competitive Distractions This is a self-inflicted problem. For some reason, your mind doesn’t want to concentrate on the game. Any kind of influence in the area demands attention. This can be environmental – music, conversation, an attractive person of the opposite (or same) sex, and others. Even sounds that previously never affected you – affect you, such as clinking ice cubes in a glass. Itemizing these are too many to list here. Basically, your brain will seize upon anything to justify your lack of focus and screw up your game.
Outside Distractions There are times when personal problems aggressively intrude into your game. Instead of being able to use the Green Game to take a break from your worries, you carry them right along with you. They keep you company as you attempt to be competitive. If your opponent notices this, he can ensure victory by simply slowing down his routine – extending the time that you are waiting (and worrying). Either put your head into the game or go home.

was the latest event to host the Poison Cues Tour event. The $1000 Added amateur event attracted 62 players with 5 ladies taking advantage of the $20 entry fee. Miami would have a large contingent of players showing up for this event which was made a extra special with the top four places all receiving a beautiful glass trophy’s supplied by Javier Chirino. Chirino was also looking like the man to beat as he would make his way through to the hotseat with strong wins over Doug Johnson 6-2, Justin Gilsinan 6-4, Prescott Buckwold 6-3, Paul Mullins 6-0, Jeff Mabry 6-4 and then hard fought win over Raymond Linares in the winner’s side final 7-3. The one loss side would see Tim Baron make a strong push after taking a 6-2 loss to Chris Gentile, Baron would go on to take out Jay Zink 5-4, Derek Virgilio 5-1, Paul Mullins 5-2, a 5-4 win over David Uwate would be his last as Jason Sheerman would end his run with a 5-3 loss to leave Baron in a Respectable 5th place. Sheerman would now have the task of taking on the Florida Amateur State Champion Chris Gentile this would also end his run as Gentile would come out on top with a 5-2 win leaving Sheerman in 4th spot, Gentile backed this win up with strong 5-0 win over Raymond Linares to put himself in the final. The finals would be another great match with both players showing why they got there with strong shot making and good safety battles, However Chirino did not want to give his trophy up and would eventually come out a 7-4 winner and take the 1st place trophy and $700 1st place 1st prize fund. 2nd The Poison Tour also paid out more than quarter of the field for 3rd this event along with four glass trophy’s for the top four finishers. 4th Congratulations to Kira Brown for her top lady finish receiving $50 5th-6th Sunday’s $1000 Added open 10-Ball event would attract 42 players 7th-8th with over 30 amateurs coming back from Saturday’s event taking 9th-12th advantage of the two day $40 discounted entry fee. 13th-16th Hunter Lombardo would be the man to beat on the day as he cruised his way to the finals with strong wins over Tim Baron 6-4, John Top Lady Ditoro 6-1, Kira Brown 6-4, Mark Coats 6-0 and then a strong 7-3 win over Tony Crosby in the winners side final to capture the hotseat,. 1st On the one loss side Raymond Linares was proving to be a 2nd handful after taking a first round loss to David Uwate 6-2 he would go on a strong run with wins over Lincoln Seifert, Robert Raiford, Prescott 3rd 4th Buckwold, Chettan Chhabra, John Ditoro and then Mark Coats before 5th-6th running into a determined Anthony Meglino who stopped his run with 7th-8th a 5-0 win Meglino would then go on to lose a tight 5-4 match to Tony

take the Trophy’s Crosby which would set up a Lombardo Crosby Final. The final would be a classic with neither player wanting to give an inch it would go all the way with Crosby taking it 7-6 to set up a 1 rack sudden death shootout. The shootout is designed to give the hotseat winner that 2nd chance and also guarantees 2nd place will have lost twice. Crosby would go onto win the one rack shoot out after a positional error from Lombardo leaving Crosby a quick 2-10 combination to take down the event. The tour would like to thank Cunningham’s pool room and its staff for hosting a very successful event. Also our Title Sponsors Poison Cues for supplying some of the best hitting pool cues on the market. Our next event will be 19-20th May at Park Avenue Billiards, Orange Park (Jacksonville).

Williams
(l to r) Susan Williams, Terri Johnson-McCauley
Written by Tres Kane, April, 2012
Stinger’s Sports Bar & Grill, in Glendale, Arizona, hosted Stop #2 of the Arizona Women's Billiard Tour on April 14th & 15th. Longtime AWBT favorite, Susan Williams was the winner, 7-3, over Terri Johnson-McCauley. Susan would claim her first title in over a year. For Terri, who traveled all the way from Farmington, New Mexico, it was her highest AWBT finish ever.
With twelve (12) 7' Diamond tables, Stinger’s was an excellent host for AWBT's only bar table event for 2012. This tournament was scheduled to get our gals ready to compete in the BCAPL Nationals in Las Vegas in May. We saw several new faces and welcomed back some old friends as twenty-six (26) ladies came out Saturday to play. With such a strong response, this will surely be a yearly event.
Saturday's play began with races to five in both the winner's and loser's brackets. Play was aggressive and games that used to slow matches to a crawl were won in a matter of minutes by strong tactics and accurate shooting. Many layouts were expertly sliced and diced for 8-ball runouts. This was not your Grandmother's 8-ball game. With all the excellent play on Saturday, only eight (8) would come back for Sunday. On the A-side, it was Susan Williams, Terri Johnson-McCauley, Leandrea Gaff and Jodie Villegas. On the B-side it was Sara Miller, Veronica Poore, Justine Bishop and Beverly Cook. Susan would win the hot seat by defeating Jodie 5-1, and then overcome a, 1-3 deficit, and beat Terri. Veronica Poore took time out from her doctoral studies to win 5-4 over Bev Cook, only to lose to Jodie 5-3 and take home a nice 5th-6th finish. Sara Miller excused Justine Bishop 5-3 to finish celebrating Greek Easter. Her next match was with arch enemy Leandrea Gaff who originally put Sara in the loser's side. These two seem to play each other every tournament. This time Leo was the victor 5-3 leaving Sara in 5th-6th hoping for another chance to beat Leo in the next tournament. Jodie Villegas ended Leandrea’s run by beating her 5-3. Great job Leo! Then it was Terri
Johnson McCauley's turn to stop Jodie 5-3. A nice 3rd place finish might be Jodie's highest AWBT result to date. The finals, a single race to 7, would be a rematch between Susan Williams and Terri Johnson 2nd Chance - Alicia Streenz, Rayna Gainey, Jaye Succo McCauley. Terri had come ever so close in the previous match scratching with only the 8-ball left to go up 4-1 only to lose 5-3. Susan knew she had a dangerous foe. The match stayed close up until 3-3 but then Susan pulled away, winning the next four games in a row for the match and the title. Congratulations to Susan on some great runout 8-ball. Congratulations to 2nd place finisher, Terri Johnson McCauley. You played awesome. The 2nd Chance tournament was taken by Jaye Succo, 4-3 over Alicia Streenz. We had ten (10) players return for the free tournament and even CoDirector, Kristie, put in her $5 Final 8 Stingers April 2012 dollars to play. Stingers added $50, bringing the redemption tournament prize fund to $145. Jaye received $75 MAIN EVENT PAYOUTS: for 1st, Alicia $45 for 2nd and Rayna Gainey, who traveled with Alicia up from Place Name Winnings Tucson, got $25 for 3rd. 1st Susan Williams $250 The AWBT would like to thank Stinger’s owner Dale Hanson for hosting 2nd Terri Johnson-McCauley $180 and adding a total of $350 to both tournaments. Pool players, come and check out Stinger’s newly remodeled room. With twelve 7' Diamonds, two 9' 3rd Jodie Villegas $150 Diamonds and two Valley bar boxes, Stingers has positioned itself as a major 4th Leandrea Gaff $110 room in the Valley. 5-6th Sara Miller $70 Thanks to AWBT sponsor Jose Gonzales and LAS GLORIAS GRILL for adding Veronica Poore $100. 7-8th Justine Bishop $50 Thanks to the friends of the AWBT for adding $200. We encourage this type of behavior. Contact Tres Kane if you would like to become a friend of the Beverly Cook AWBT. 9-12th Vilene Stutesman $25 Thanks to my Co-Director Kristie Ortega for all her hard work in making the Claudia Morado tournament run smoothly. Thanks to Scooter for helping set up and teardown of Bernie Store the tournament. Good luck to all AWBT members in Vegas. Let 'em know where you come from. Mary Helen Mondragon FREE 2ND CHANCE PAYOUTS: The AWBT’s Stop #3 is Skip 'n Jan's in Tempe, June 30th-July 1st. The Place Name Winnings game is 9-ball on 9’ tables. JENTSCH
Jentsch By EPBF Press Release
In a very one-sided final match, Dominic Jentsch (GER) crushed David Alcaide (ESP) with 8:1.
takes the title
"I feel completely overwhelmed", said Jentsch after the final. "This is my first Euro-Tour victory; my best rank so far was 17th". The final match can be described with a few words: Jentsch was simply too dominating for Alcaide and left no chance for the strong Spaniard. Whatever aspect of the game is taken, Jentsch was better. His break shot, his safety play, his pocketing skills‌ his performance in this final was second to none. When asked what he thinks it is that makes him dominate his opponents so clearly, he replied: "I always try to do my best. I think from shot to shot and get the best out of me." "Sometimes you get momentum, sometimes you don't. I practice very hard and recently I get awarded for all my efforts." That concludes the coverage of the Dynamic Italy Open Euro-Tour 10ball. The event was hosted by the European Governing Body for Pool, the European Pocket Billiard Federation (EPBF) and organized by International Billiard Promotion (IBP). on the weekend of May 5-6 and joined a short field of 15 entrants, on hand for the Open portion of a stop on the Predator Tour. Strickland spent most of his time on the loss side in this event, but came back to face the man who'd sent him there - Jeremy Sossei - and defeat him in the finals. The $500-added event was hosted by Gotham City Billiards in Brooklyn, NY. Rob Pole, in the meantime, squared off against Jennifer Baretta. Sossei sent Burford west 7-4, as Pole sent Baretta over 7-5. Sossei got into the hot seat with a 7-4 victory over Pole, and waited on "The Pearl." First up for Strickland, on the loss side, was Greg McAndrews. A 7-2 win over McAndrews was followed by a 7-4 victory over tour director Tony Robles, which set Strickland up to face Baretta. Burford drew Justin Daniels, who'd shut out Thomas Rice and downed http://www.azbilliards.com/thepros/2000showplayer2012.
