Brian White moved to the loss side at the end of his first match versus Ron Park, but came back to win both sets of a true double elimination final and take home top honors. got out in front early in the second set, and extended his lead to four games by the 7-3 mark. They traded racks to 8-4, when White used a terrific jump shot to get out in the following rack and reach the hill first. Park came right back, using a 2-9 combo to pull back to within four again, but White closed it out, completing the double dip and securing the event title.
Both of the winners' side semifinals were double hill affairs. Park got into the hot seat match with a double hill win over White, while James Blackburn defeated Nolan Leonard. Blackburn was playing in his second straight hot seat match, having gotten into the hot seat the week before in Lynchburg, VA ( Justin Hall double dipped him in the finals to win it). This week, Park sent Blackburn to the semifinals 9-4, and waited for what turned out to be the return of White.

White moved over and picked up Kevin Boggs, who'd defeated Jeff Abernathy 9-7 and Walt Newsome 9-4. Leonard drew Marvin Reed, who'd gotten by Mike McPherson 7-5 and Kris Chavez, double hill. It was White and Leonard advancing to the quarterfinals; White with a 10-4 win over Boggs, and Leonard 7-3 over Reed. White defeated Leonard 10-4 and turned to face Blackburn, who was looking to get into his second straight GSBT final. It was not to be. White dominated the semifinal match 10-2 for a second chance versus Park. In the first of the potential two sets, the two battled to an early 3-3 tie before White edged out in front with two in a row. They battle back and forth and White was able to extend that lead by one game and finish the opening set ahead by three at 10-7. White

STEPHANIE MITCHELL, CASSIDY MULLIGAN, LISA MCELROY AND JESSICA BARNES Cassidy Mulligan gave up a single match in the opening set of a true double elimination final against Lisa McElroy, but came back to win the second, claiming first place in the Bay Area Amateur Tour stop on Saturday, March 31. The $300-added, second stop on the tour drew 14 entrants to Hammerheads in Holiday, FL.

From among the winners' side final four, Mulligan sent Echo Pinkley west 4-1, as Jessica Barnes was busy doing likewise to Vanessa Seaver 6-3. Mulligan then defeated Barnes 5-4 (Barnes going to 7) and sat in the hot seat, waiting for the return of McElroy.
The victory moved Mulligan into second place in the current, twostop tour standings, behind Jeannie Seaver, whose fourth place finish, allowed her to remain atop the leader board. McElroy moved from fifth to third, behind Mulligan. Next stop on the BAAT tour is scheduled for May 26, at Wally's in Lakeland, FL.
Seaver moved to the loss side to meet up with her sister, Jeannie, winner of the first BAAT stop, who'd defeated Terri Cockrell 6-1 and Lana Loomis 8-1. Pinkley picked up McElroy, who'd been sent west from among the winners' side final eight by Barnes, and then defeated Cortney Bernard 3-2 (Bernard going to 4), and Kelly Cavanaugh 3-3 (Cavanaugh going to 6). Jeannie Seaver shut out sister Vanessa, and was joined in the quarterfinals by McElroy, who'd downed Pinkley 3-1. McElroy had sent Jeannie Seaver to the loss side in the opening round of play, and duplicated that effort in the quarterfinals, shutting her out. McElroy then turned to face the woman who'd sent her over, Barnes, in the semifinals. A 3-3 victory (Barnes going to 5) sent McElroy to the

FIRST TRI-STATE EVENT The tournament was $1000 Added A/D 9 Ball, held at the beautiful Carom Cafe & Billiards in Flushing, N.Y. Alan's tournament trail of 7 wins and 1 loss, included wins over Ron Mason 6 - 3; Rick Shellhouse 6 - 5; Vincent Loretta 8 - 4; Chad Smith 6 - 2 and Luis Jimenez 6 - 5; before suffering a loss to Carl Yusuf Khan 7 - 6 for the Hot Seat. The Poison by Predator 9-ball event hosted on March 31, 2012 by Bogies Billiards and Games in Houston, Texas proved to be just as successful as the first. The one day event boasted a tournament payout in excess of $5,000 with 50 invited, amateur players. The field included tour regulars Dalton Riley, Brian Rosenbaum, Steve Lindgren, Loretta Lindgren, Bill McCormick, Robert Hitchcock, Eric Gauthier, Val Charles, Mark Fusina, and many more!

Match play began at approximately 2pm following the player auction. The swift race to 6, winner break format, produced numerous upsets throughout the day and into the evening. Winners’ side final 16 upsets included Will Felder over Chase Rudder 6-2, and Brian Rosenbaum over Brent Thomas 6-5. One-loss side upsets included Dave Ramirez over Casey Crews 6-3 and Chris Penry over Jerald Jackson 6-5. New faces on Tour included J.J. Manley, Dee Davis, and Kyle Perry who all made the east side final 8 and had a great finish! Newcomer Jeff Chauncey lost his second match, then defeated Bill Fuller, Val Charles, Chuck Adams and Bobby Perez, but was stopped cold by Rosenbaum for a top ten finish. The final four winners’ side saw Felder best Perry and Oklahoma’s Dee Davis fall to Sonny Bosshamer, 6-3. This pitted Felder against Bosshamer for the hot seat. Meanwhile, after suffering defeat at the hands of Bosshamer 6-3 in the east side final 8, Sonny Demetro made his bid for first eliminating Thomas, Manley, Perry, and Riley. Back east, it was a hot seat heartbreaker for Felder, losing 6-5 to Bosshamer. Adding insult to injury, Felder became Demetro’s fifth and final victim on his trek to the finish line. Bosshamer ended Demetro’s run, 6-3, for an undefeated Poison Tour victory. Congratulations to Sonny Bosshamer who has

The last two medals of this year’s Dynamic European Pool Championships were taken by the Polish women’s team and the Spanish men’s team. In the women’s final, Oliwia Czuprynska drew first blood for the Polish team by winning her 8-ball match over Ine Helvik with 6:2. Line Kjoersvik tied the match result to 1:1 by winning the 9-ball match with 7:2 over Katarzyna Wesolowska. The shootout had to decide. There, the Polish team showed the better nerves and won the match with 5:4. In the men’s team lineup between Germany and Spain, Ralf Souquet got the first point for the Germans by winning his 9-ball over newly crowned Francisco Diaz with 9:2. At that time things looked promising for team Germany. Jentsch and Ederer were both leading in their matches. But then David Alcaide overtook Dominik Jentsch and won the 8-ball match with 8:4. That must have been an incentive for Francisco Sanchez Ruiz. He came from trailing 1:3 to Manuel Ederer and shifted in to overdrive. He allowed one more rack for Ederer to win and finally won the 10-ball match with 8:4 and brought the Gold Medal to Spain. The event was hosted by the European Governing Body for Pool, the European Pocket Billiard Federation (EPBF) and

A lot is going to depend on the expectations of your spouse. If there is not an active and outright hatred of your playing pool, there is plenty of room for negotiation. Basically, this is a situation requiring careful negotiation. How well you can do this is usually related to the number of years you have been married. This can require good bargaining skills. Initially, there will be a significant amount of horse trading. You offer a certain quantity or quality of favors in exchange for pool playing opportunities. The more sacrifices you are willing to make, the more chances you have of playing pool and for longer periods of time. For example, a good trade is offering to go shopping together Saturday mornings for a chance to get to the pool hall one evening during the week. Or, you can offer to pick up the kids on Thursday and Friday for the chance to play Sunday afternoon. Keep the trades well balanced. Try this as a guideline - so many of your hours doing the favors to be traded for an equivalent number of hours around the table. Whatever you do, do not get into a situation where you are offering more home hours for fewer table hours. Let that happen one time and you will never get things back in balance until you enter your retirement years. If there is some resistance to your playing evenings, you will have to be a harder negotiator. It never hurts to throw in a measured dose of whining and begging. Not too much of the kowtowing, but enough to at least tickle the fair play button. Where possible, offer an equivalency trade. You go out one or two nights a week, your spouse goes out the same number of times. If possible, you can get a 7 footer installed in an appropriate room is your home, even if some shots will be a little cramped. You can use
it to keep in stroke and for the occasional party entertainment. When not in use, it can become a clothes folding table, short-term storage area. The space under the table can become longerterm storage. With practice you can clear the table for play in minutes, and when done, restore it to its previous condition. As the kids get a little older (usually 9+), you can take them to a family-friendly pool hall (one that serves pizza is good). Before eating, rent a table and get them started. The first few times you will need to work with them on acceptable stroke or stance. Play games where they can position the cue ball for each shot and make it easier for them to make balls. Once they have the basics down, you can leave them unattended while you go off to a grudge match on a nearby table. Assuming they stay relatively well-behaved, you might find yourself training up a budding junior state champion. If there is outright antagonism against your playing, you are in trouble. What chances you get to play are going to have to be on the sly. And, when you do go out to play, you will have to be very careful to remove all evidences of chalk on hands and clothes. You may have to hide your sticks at a friend’s house too. And, you’ll put more effort in sneaking out than if you were cheating. When you get caught (and you will), grovel appropriately. Learn how to become a pretty good actor. Over time, use gentle persuasion and courteous proposals, and you will eventually gain sufficient freedom to play on a regular and ongoing basis. If worse comes to worse and you find yourself having to give up playing, remind yourself that the Green Game will always be there, ready when you are. Your youngsters will grow up faster than you can believe. Eventually, you will retire and the many senior centers all have one or more pool tables.

Usually when Mike Dechaine takes the hot-seat at an event, it is a foregone conclusion that he will win the event. As a matter of fact, Dechaine himself could not remember ever being double dipped in his career as a pro pool player. Somehow, Jorge Rodriguez didn't get the memo about Dechaine's final match record before the Joss NE 9-Ball Tour event at Raxx Billiards in West Hempstead, NY over the March 31-April 1 weekend. The field of 38 players at Raxx included such heavy hitters as Dechaine, Mika Immonen, Hunter Lombardo, Jeremy Sossei, Robb Saez, Shaun Wilkie, Zion Zvi and Jennifer Barretta. Dechaine cruised through his early match, only dropping seven games across three different matches. He would be tested in his fourth match, a hill-hill win over Mika Immonen. Meanwhile, Jorge Rodriguez was cruising right along with a dominating performance of his
own. Rodriguez won his first match 9-5 over Ray Lee, but would not face another serious test before facing Dechaine. The hot-seat went to Dechaine 9-2 and it looked like Dechaine would be adding another tournament win to his resume soon enough. On the one loss side, Rodriguez eliminated Zion Zvi. Zvi had lost to Jeremy Sossei on Saturday, but bounced back with six "W"s on the left side including wins over Saez, Wilkie, Lombardo and Immonen. The first match of the double elimination finals was a close one, with Rodriguez edging Dechaine 9-7. In the second set, the wheels completely fell off for Dechaine as Rodriguez dominated the match for a 9-3 win.
Dechaine settled for $750 and a little humility to take back home with him. The second chance tournament on Sunday saw Phil Davis pushed to two sets before defeating Raj Vannala in the finals. Davis defeated Brent Boemmels for the hot-seat and then lost the first set of the finals to Vannala 3-2. The second set saw Davis get back on track and win the match 3-0 for the tournament win. The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour's next event will be the NE 9-Ball Open XXV at Golden Cue Billiards in Albany on April 14th and 15th. Huidji See (NED) ousted David Alcaide (ESP) out of the 9-ball competition with 9:6. Alcaide probably lost the match in the first few racks. He made some grave mistakes that put him in arrears and he never seemed to recover from those mistakes. Huidji See was even taking a nice 5:1 advantage over Alcaide. Though the Spaniard tried a comeback, he was not able to tie the match again at any time. The closest he could get was a 4:5 deficit to See. Then the Dutch World 10-ball Champion won another 3 racks in a row which put him on the hill with
8:4. Alcaide fought and tried to avoid the defeat but all he could do was win another rack and lose the match finally with 9:6. Other notable results from this morning include The Dutch women’s team, consisting of Kynthia Orfanidis and Tamara Rademakers, winning over Team Sweden with Louise Furberg and Caroline Roos with 2:0. Team Norway (Ine Helvik and Line Kjoersvik) sent team Spain (Silvia Lopez and Amalia Matas) home with 2:0. In the men’s team competition, team
Spain eliminated team Sweden with 3:0. A small upset was team Poland winning over favoured team Russia with 2:1. Kevin Sun used a handicap to his advantage to take two out of three matches against Rich Minichello and win the Sunday, April 1 stop on the Rack 'Em Up Tour. The event drew 38 entrants to the Westgate Lanes in Brockton, MA. From among the winners' side final four, Sun sent Larry Dethomas to the loss side 5-1, as Minichello was busy sending Roarke Dickson over 6-2. In the hot seat match that followed, Sun chalked up the three racks he needed in a 3-3 victory over Minichello, going to 6. Over on the loss side, Choneyi Tenzin, in a straight-up race to 4, got by Andy Maynard, double hill and Anthony Disegna 5-1 to pick up Dickson. Dethomas drew Dave Soule, who'd defeated Ranulf Tamba 4-1 and shut out Bill Omara. Dickson and Dethomas returned immediately to their winning ways, defeating Tenzin and Soule, both 4-4 (Tenzin and Soule going to 5). Dethomas then dropped Dickson 4-3 and faced Minichello in the semifinals.

From a recent Pool300 press release: “Most competing Pool Leagues either don’t offer a paid trip to their National Championship or reward a very small percentage of their teams, usually 5% or less. Pool300 will reward 50% of the teams in each league with a trip that includes roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations, and entry fee into the tournament. “In POOL300, clearing the table in order without missing gets the shooter a strike. CSI US Opens’ Late Fees Start Next Week
CueSports International - April 6, 2012 - CueSports International (CSI) wishes to remind players that the late fees kick-in April 9th for the 13th US Open One Pocket Championship (May 10-13, 2012) and the 4th US Open 10Ball Championship (May 14-19, 2012). Both premier pro-level events are held alongside the BCAPL National Championships (May 9-20, 2012) at the Riviera Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada.

The U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships makes some great changes for 2012 and beyond
Hello everyone, we hope all is well. We have some news for everyone along with some exciting changes that we have made.
Rob Johnson, President of the BCA. We are very happy to see the BCA become even more involved with American Professional Pool.
We regret to inform our past champions that they will no longer be receiving paid entry fees into the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships. We have deep admiration and respect for our champions and will continue to express our appreciation to them with our yearly traditions such as the parade of champions, which takes place every five years, as well as during additional traditions that we all enjoy. Only the defending champion will receive a paid entry fee each year, in addition to a free hotel room.
In addition, we have decided to seed the top players from around the world and America. We believe that it only makes sense to provide true seeds to the players from each continent, as they have genuinely earned a seed. This will assure that even more foreign players will be coming and the U.S. Open is the only professional tournament that has 256 players. This is a wonderful opportunity and with the help of Ken Shuman, Jay Helfert, and Bill Stock, we will work together to decide to have 32, 48, or 64 seeded players. The seeding will come from the WPA, BCA, ABP, as well as 4 promoter’s discretion seeds from Barry and Shannon. In addition, we will gladly seed players from the WPBA which will be determined by the number of participants.
We have made many wonderful changes for the 37th Annual U.S. Open and feel that this is a step in the right direction. With these changes, the total purse has been raised to $200,000.00 instead of $178,000.00. We will be adding $72,000.00 with a full field of 256 players, which we know will be full every year now since we have structured the prize fund breakdown extremely well, paying the champion $30,000.00 and now 65th-96th place receiving $1,000.00 each. BCAPL Grows To Record Numbers
The CueSports International (CSI) motto, “More Choices for All Players,” is embodied in the diversity of its many products.
