This one-day masterclass will provide you with the knowledge to effectively treat patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA), including the latest techniques for preventing and treating the condition

Educational aims & objectives:

At the completion of the course attendees will: • Be aware of the nature of OSA and the differences between OSA and snoring. • Understand the process for establishing a diagnosis. • Be aware of the range of treatments available and their various risks, costs and benefits. • Be able to discuss rationally the need for these services within a commissioning environment.

Dental CBCT Course for Referrers 19 November 2016


Date: Friday 19 November 2016 Venue: The Royal College of Surgeons of England, 35-43 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London WC2A 3PE Fee: £300-340 Course details:

This course is based on the “Level 1” training criteria published in the latest European EADMFR guidelines and will be delivered by experienced consultant dental maxillofacial radiologists. Upon attending this course, participants will be eligible to apply for the follow-up course “Basics of Dentoalveolar CBCT Interpretation”.

Educational aims & objectives:

At the end of the course, participants will be able to: • Describe what CBCT scans are and their role in diagnosis and treatment planning. • Discuss the differences between 2D and 3D imaging. • Explain the risks of CBCT and describe how to minimize radiation risks to the patient. • Discuss the duties of a CBCT referrer. • Explain what clinical and disease conditions would (not) benefit from CBCT imaging. • Recognize normal anatomy of the teeth and supporting structures. • Explain why guidelines are important, and have an understanding of a dentist’s legal and ethical responsibilities in their various roles of being Referrer, Practitioner and Operator.

The role of Teaching and Assessment in the clinical workplace has now become well established. This course will work through various tried and tested theories underpinning teaching and assessment and will be of interest to all those interested in getting involved within this field alongside clinical practice.

• To outline and discuss the tried and tested theories underpinning teaching and assessment. • To demonstrate and practice techniques in teaching for various sized groups. • To demonstrate and practice techniques for teaching skills. • To describe and evaluate a range of assessment techniques, including those currently in use for in workplace assessment.
