OI China PRAYER LETTER August 2010 “We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please his neighbour for his good, to build him up.” ~ Romans 15: 1 - 2 (NIV)
The OIC 2010 Summer English Camp commenced on 7 July. Children of OIC clients are very excited to have this opportunity to take part in this program. The theme of the Camp this year is Shanghai World Expo and the culture of different countries. In addition to the English children also get to learn about the different culture of the world.
A group of six volunteers came to OIC Anhui in Hefei early July. They brought with them professional skills of banking and finance, education, psychiatry and management to help the OIC clients through consulting and training sessions. Most of all, they brought smile and love to share with all the staff and clients of OIC in Anhui.
Praises & Thanksgivings: •
Praise the Lord for the wonderful opportunity to share the work of OI China during the Social Enterprise Symposium held in Taipei, 3 July. As social enterprise is still a new concept in Taiwan many people were surprised to hear about how microfinance works and how it can help reducing poverty in a sustainable way. Many people would like to see this kind of operation and service introduced to the local community.
•
Thank God for His provisions. The OIC 2010 Summer English Camp commenced on 7 July with abundant blessings from our Lord. Our clients brought their children to the Camp to learn English and appreciate the Sunday-school-like teaching program. A total of 79 children registered for this summer in both Hefei and Suqian offices. Thanks also goes to our interns who diligently prepare and conduct the camp as a token of their appreciation of the OIC internship program which equips them with microfinance training and hands-on business experience in China.
Prayer Requests: •
Pray for the financial support of OI China as it finalises the capital contribution for the MCC license in Suqian as stipulated by the Chinese government. Pray also for the board of directors as they help to raise funds to meet this deadline with faith and personal commitment.
•
Pray for the health of the interns and OIC staff during the hot summer season. Interns and our staff have daily schedule to visit our clients under the hot and humid weather. Please pray for the health and recovery from illness for Lani, one of our interns; Carrie, HR; Nick, OIC Anhui; and Sunny, HR.
