OI China PRAYER LETTER December 2009
“However, as it is written, ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.’“ ~ 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NIV)
During the month of November, loan officers in Suyu held marketing events in several of Suyu’s 16 townships. Potential clients learned about loan products by stopping by OIC’s table, and as loan officers visited them at their place of business. Through good relations with the local government and with the help of current clients, OIC put up posters at several key places around the township, ensuring that word of OIC would spread and more entreprenuers could be reached.
According to the principles of 1 Corinthians 12:12-26, the staff of OI Suyu studied what it means to function as “one body” within the Suyu office, within OIC, and within the worldwide OI network. Staff not only learned more about the special role that they each have in fulfilling OI International’s mission, but they also got a chance to practice functioning as one body through team building activities. Above employees prepare to “untie” themselves from “the human knot”.
Praises & Thanksgivings: •
Praise God for the successful installation of the LPF loan management system. This system will help OI China to better understand client needs and demographics, allowing OI China to design even more appropriate loan products and new banking services in the future.
•
Thank God for the successful application of OI Hong Kong, the supporting partner of OI China, to become a full member of the OI Network. Before OIHK’s approval, the Network conducted an extensive review of the work and systems of OI China during its board and committee meetings and OI China rejoices that they saw fit to develop a closer partnership with OIHK.
•
Praise God for the Board of Directors of both OIHK and OI China. Thank God for their passion in following the inspiration of Jesus Christ to serve the poor and also for their leadership and guidance that has allowed the operations to be sustainable.
Prayer Requests: •
Pray for OIC’s mushroom-farming clients who sustained damage during early snowstorms. Though they received loan officers’ warning to prepare for the storms in advance, some farmers had difficulty clearing the snow and as a result had their mushroom sheds collapse. OIC is helping rebuild their sheds with emergency loans but please pray for their crops and farming infrastructure.
