OI China PRAYER LETTER December 2011
"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." ~ Luke 2:10-11 (KJV)
Praise the Lord! OI China received another license approval from the Government to open a wholly owned foreign Micro Credit Company (MCC) in Chuzhou of Huai’an City in Jiangsu Province. Huai’an is the second poorest city of Jiangsu and located south of Suqian City. The population of Huai’an is about 5.3 million. Our office will be in the centre of the District and the team has started the office fit-out now.
As part of the people development program 2011, OIC sent GM HR, Carrie Liu (centre), and GM OI Suqian, Eric Chen (right 1), to the Philippines to learn from our colleagues about microfinance models. They met with President and CEO of APPEND, Virginia P. Juan (right 2) upon arrival. They then visited various branches of TSKI operations. The whole trip took 6 days. Thanks to the support of APPEND and TSKI.
Praises & Thanksgivings: •
Praise the Lord the Board meeting went smoothly in Beijing between 31 October and 1 November. Thank God for the wisdom and guidance. The Board approved further expansion and development of OI China and OIHK.
•
Thank God for the opportunity to present the work of OI China at the recent Social Enterprise Summit held in Hong Kong between 24 and 27 November. Amongst the over 1,200 attendees of the Summit, many people are very interested in the way how OI served the poor and expressed interest to visit and support OIC in the future.
•
We are very pleased to announce that Mr Rajiv Makhija joined OI China, as our Senior Vice President, from 1 November. Rajiv was born in India but lived and worked in HK for more than 25 years. He just retired from Ernst & Young as their senior partner in 2010. We are so thankful to have a faithful and vibrant brother in Christ like Rajiv to co-work with us. In fact, Rajiv has been supporting the work of OIC since 2009.
•
Thanks to our director, Mr Dick Jelinek, for his support in action. In the midst of his busy professional consulting life Dick offered to help building our team capacity by giving us two training sessions for the leaders of OI China. The training will be held on 3 and 4 December in Suyu and Hefei.
Prayer Requests: •
Upon receiving the new license for Huai’an, OIC needs more funding support for the new operations. Pray for financial support for OIC. As the work of OI China spreads more urgent funding and HR needs arise too.
•
Please pray for our Huai’an project team as they are preparing and building the operation. May the Lord grant us wisdom, give us guidance and bless the land so that we can serve the poor and bring glory to Him.
