OPPORTUNITY EDUFINANCE 2020 Internship Program
OPPORTUNITY EDUFINANCE IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE OUR 2020 INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IN LONDON WHAT IS THE GLOBAL EDUCATION CRISIS?
There are 248 million children out-of-school globally. We know we will need 145 million more seats in classrooms to accommodate the increases in student population by 2023, which does not include children currently out-of-school. An additional 353 million children are attending school but not learning. These students aren’t able to meet basic proficiency levels in reading and mathematics. 53% of children in low and middle income countries cannot read a simple story by age 10.
OPPORTUNITY EDUFINANCE MISSION
Opportunity EduFinance is working to increase access to quality education globally. We believe education is essential for children to have the best opportunity to succeed, earn a livelihood, support their families, and benefit their community. Our work is aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4 Inclusive and equitable quality education for all.
HOW DOES EDUFINANCE IMPROVE ACCESS TO QUALITY EDUCATION? EduFinance has developed a holistic model that begins by partnering with financial institutions in low and medium income countries.
We provide the technical assistance & support financial institutions need to begin lending to school entrepreneurs and families to build more classrooms, add more seats, improve school quality, and ensure families can cover school fees to avoid students being sent home or dropping out. ACCESS
QUALITY
Through our EduQuality program we bring together local entrepreneurs of affordable private schools in a self-improving school system (network of school clusters) by collaborating with our financial institution partners lending to these schools. EduQuality offers professional development training for senior school leaders, professionalization of the teacher workforce, and strategic school improvement planning using our Pathways to Excellence tool.
