As 2016 draws to a close... I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all your support throughout 2016, the year which saw us named Company of the Year with the NCE, ranking us as number 1 out of the top 100 civil firms in the UK.
We expect 2017 to be another exciting year, with appointment on some interesting new contracts, such as London Borough of Ealing’s Highways and Transport Framework. It’s great to be a part of some significant changes in transport that we are currently seeing across our capital. We look forward to building on our recent BIM accreditation with Opus-VR, an Opus designed virtual reality app which negates the need for clients to have specialist software to view a 3D model. We also hope to see some more substantial results from other research and development projects that we have been trailing this year, such as our new RustScan tool which began its 3 year research project this year. To find out more about these exciting developments, keep on scrolling! Wishing you all a safe and happy break during the Christmas festivities, and speak to you all in the New Year.

Research in rust
St Albans' sinkhole

Supported by the UK government, Opus is investing in research with Nottingham Trent University to develop technology that can detect level of rust from up to 100m away.
A sinkhole 12m in diameter and 8m deep opened up in a residential area in October last year. Ground subsidence investigation directly beneath the sinkhole revealed the cause of the collapse to be a former chalk mine.
As this project begins to take shape and cause an influx of travellers throughout London, Opus worked at three existing overland stations providing design and structural inspections to ensure stations can cope.
