Anambra sets up unit to track 2020 budget implementation By THEO RAYS

ommissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mark Okoye , says the Anambra State Government has set up an efficiency unit to ensure that provisions allocated to ministries, departments, parastatals and agencies of government are deployed for the purpose they are meant for. The commissioner who stated this at a news briefing in Awka, said government was interested in the actual utilisation and deployment of financial resources to meet the needs of the citizenry as it concerns social amenities and other infrastructure. He said that 2020 budget would place more priority attention on infrastructure, youth empowerment and education, noting that the completion of strategic roads and bridges across the three senatorial zones of the state would gulp about N15 billion. According to him, basic education and infrastructure intervention would consume about N3 billion while construction of modern health facilities would cost N1.5 billion, adding that the state government’s community-choose-your-project

HE Onitsha Ofala festival dates back to about 700 years ago, at the time of Eze Chima, the first monarch, who migrated to the area, now known as Onitsha (Henderson 42-46). In those early days, the King of Onitsha, referred to as, Igwe-Onitsha,
