Southend Airport is Taking Off By Alastair Welch – Managing Director, London Southend Airport

T

he vision of turning London Southend Airport into a fully functional regional airport by the 2012 Olympics is now well underway. This is an exciting time for all of us working there, as we are finally starting to see our development plans coming to fruition.

This opportunity for South Essex to boast a modern, efficient regional airport - and the significant investment this will bring to the area - is unique. The new airport will allow modern, fuel efficient aircraft to operate passenger services to destinations across Europe, potentially serving two million passengers a year by 2020 – the majority of these passengers will either live or work within the local area or Essex. Our brand new, state of the art £5 million Control Tower has been fully operational since late March.

The original tower was erected in the 1960’s and was only intended as a temporary structure. Its 32-metre high replacement has been equipped with the very latest technology and provides Air Traffic Controllers with significantly improved views of the runway including line of sight to both ends, which is something its predecessor was unable to claim – it also boasts conference and training facilities. The £16 million railway station is complete and ready to open shortly. It sits on the National Express Southend Victoria to London Liverpool Street line, which also runs through Stratford, the site of the 2012 Olympics. This ideally positions the airport to serve the Games, but also key London destinations. The station itself has been built just 50 paces (or two minutes walk) from the terminal and will be connected by a wide glazed covered walkway providing a seamless train to plane experience. Work is progressing well on the new light, modern and airy terminal building that has been designed with a number of green initiatives in mind. The whole terminal has been planned to give customers a swift, hassle-free journey from

Check-In to Boarding, with minimal walking distances a key consideration. Queuing time at Check-In will be kept to a minimum thanks to six desks. From Check in passengers will proceed though security, located on the first floor / mezzanine level – we are pressing for a security queue with a maximum four-minute waiting time. Passengers will then descend into the departure lounge featuring retail and food outlets. From the Departure Lounge passengers will be able to enjoy panoramic views of the apron and airfield and will be a short walk from the Departure gates and aircraft stands. On arrival you should be able to process through to the train station platform in 10-15 minutes from when your aircraft doors open (without hold baggage). The infrastructure we are creating is about simplicity, speed and service. High quality, convenient hotel facilities are an essential ingredient of successful regional airports and are an important part of our plans to modernise London Southend. Therefore a key part of our development is a new 129-bedroom hotel sited on land adjacent to the Harp House Roundabout. Our aim is that this hotel will provide high quality facilities for airport passengers, local residents as well as serving airport businesses. It will feature cafe and bar areas, plus conference and meeting facilities. Target for completion of the new hotel is early 2012.

Alastair Welch – Managing Director, London Southend Airport The 300m runway extension project is underway with the planned diversion of Eastwoodbury Lane. The runway extension will allow new, modern and more fuel efficient aircraft to be able to use the airport. This means local residents will finally be able to fly to a wide range of international business and holiday destinations from right on their doorsteps, instead of having to travel to other airports as they currently do. Essex business and tourism has already received a welcome boost, as Aer Arann recently started two daily return flights between London Southend Airport and Galway on Ireland’s Atlantic west coast and Waterford, the crystal city in Ireland’s south east. This was a significant milestone in the Airport’s development as it is the first new daily passenger service since the Stobart Group took ownership two years ago. This joins the weekly Flybe service to Jersey that operates between May and September. But is not just about the convenience of a local airport serving popular destinations, the development of London Southend Airport is about the regeneration it will bring to the wider Southend-on-Sea area, with the potential to enable many thousands of additional jobs over the next ten years. Oracle Hair & Beauty

However, if you want to dazzle your guests and of course the lucky groom, well shaped and maintained eyebrows will ‘open’ up your eyes and define your face. Start early, as it might take a month or so to get it right. Tinting can make a huge difference if you are fair or red haired. Make-up wise, avoid pink-based concealer or foundation and ditch the sunscreen. They all do weird things to your skin tones in photographs. A facial on the afternoon before the wedding is great for containing any outbreaks of spots and will give you a radiant glow on the big day.

Brides and grooming

Older brides find they often feel more relaxed with more coverage in their outfits - so strapless and halter neck might be out, unless twinned with a jacket. Sleeves are back on the fashion hot list, thanks to the former Ms Middleton. Ankle or floor-length gowns are also perfect but please, don’t go for a train… When choosing the colour of your frock, I’d recommend you go for cream instead of ivory white, and despite the temptation, I’d suggest you go for a hat or fascinator, rather than a veil.

by Craig Smith

D

When it comes to the dress, go for a something that you will feel comfortable wearing all day long and which compliments your attributes (and hides the less flattering bits).

idn’t she look GORGEOUS?!

On April 29th the world joined Prince William and fell in love with Kate Middleton, or the Duchess of Cambridge, as one should now say.

When Will’s mother, Lady Diana Spencer married Prince Charles in 1981, the average age for a bride was 23 but today it is 30. If you are one of those women choosing to wed later in life, creating that picture perfect look on your big day might take a little longer but should still leave you looking and feeling just as beautiful as ‘Waity Katie’. Let’s be honest, what you might lack in youthful dewiness you more than make up for in poise, confidence and style. You know what suits you and have not yet lost that eternal battle with gravity.

Of course, a bride’s hair is every bit as important as the dress. You can’t go wrong with a classic chignon. Simply sweep all the hair up into a pony tail high up the back and secure with a covered band. Set the ponytail in medium heated rollers. When they’ve cooled down, roll the hair into stylised curls and secure with grips - but leave some hair around the face for softness. You can add fresh flowers or other accessories if you like. Right, I’ve got my placcy tiara from Claire’s, you just tell me when and where! For all your hair and beauty issues write to beauty@oraclepublications.co.uk Sponsored by

Unless you actually want a Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, the key is to keep things simple. Don’t make dramatic changes to your hair style or colour, leave the spray tan in its can and ditch any ideas of Botox. And really, what is the point of vajazzling??!!

osteoporosis and it is often not diagnosed until a fracture actually occurs, hence its title ‘the silent epidemic’.

Osteoporosis: The Silent Epidemic

O

steoporosis (or brittle bone disease) is now recognised as a major public health problem involving enormous costs to the individual, the NHS (£2.3 billion a year) and to society. 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men over the age of 50 will suffer a fracture, mainly due to osteoporosis. The fragility of the bones can cause pain, disability and death and results in more than 230,000 fractures every year.

Like every other part of the living body, bone is constantly being rebuilt. When the rate of rebuilding fails to match the rate of breakdown, a steady loss of bone results in the onset of osteoporosis. There are no symptoms for

Normal Bone

Bone with Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis can be hereditary and there are also several other risk factors which include early natural or surgical menopause, long term steroid use, anorexia nervosa, alcohol or tobacco abuse, sedentary lifestyle, hyperparathyroidism, lack of sunshine and poor nutrition. However, bone density can be improved through diet and lifestyle, thereby delaying or even preventing osteoporosis. Weight-bearing exercise such as running, jogging, tennis and aerobics encourages the body to produce new bone. Foods which either contain calcium or help the absorption of calcium into the bone include oily fish, green leafy vegetables, noncitrus fruit, nuts and seeds. Magnesium and vitamin D are essential for absorption of calcium. Adults of all ages would benefit from an ultrasound scan to establish their bone status because the future likelihood of osteoporosis can be predicted and, with treatment or lifestyle changes, can possibly be prevented. The scan is quick, accurate, painless and non-invasive. The results are printed in the form of an easy-to-read graph which shows a comparison to age and also a marker set by the World Health Organisation to show osteoporotic fracture risk. This scan can be performed by Osteoporosis Screening Services at The Thorpe Bay Clinic. The graph is explained at the time of the appointment and information with be given on diet and exercise. Advice will also be given on supplements if required.

t is estimated that more than 5.5m Britons have moved to live or work overseas in the past decade (Source: Institute for Public Policy Research, December 2006). The most popular destinations include Spain, France, Portugal and Cyprus – not places that most people would immediately associate with tax havens.

Tax havens evoke images of film stars, sports stars, luxury yachts and champagne. But you do not have to be a formula one racing champion to mitigate tax nor do you have to move to exclusive locations such as Monaco or the British Virgin Islands. With some careful planning there are significant savings to be made on income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax in countries that do not appear to be exotic offshore tax havens. Unfortunately tax is a bug bear most of us have to face - wherever we live - and it is paramount that if you are considering living overseas you should seek specialist tax advice otherwise it could end up costing you much more than you bargained for.

distinct break with the UK (at least one whole tax year, and preferably more) is by far the best way . But if you want to maintain links to the UK, there are various factors that you should bear in mind. These include where your family is living, whether you have maintained a residence in the UK (particularly if it remains available for your use), whether you have established a permanent residence abroad, where your bank accounts and credit cards are and where your social connections including club or other memberships are based. The chances are that wherever you lay your hat you will have to pay some tax. The levels and bases of taxation and reliefs from taxation can change at any time, depends on individual circumstances and is subject to changes in legislation. The overriding message is simple: get expert advice. It could save you money.

The key factor behind many tax issues for those leaving British shores is residence. The general rule of thumb is that you will pay UK income tax and capital gains tax as long as you are a UK resident. To secure your non-UK resident status a

PACE: A Fresh Approach to Property

I

f you speak to anybody who has been involved in either letting their property or renting from someone, you will often find they have a tale of frustration to tell.

technologies to deliver a cutting edge service. You can be confident that we will swiftly find you either suitable tenants or your perfect property.”

It is exactly for this reason that PACE have created a completely fresh approach to property management and lettings, in a bid to put negative experiences firmly in the past.

High quality photographs accompanied by thoughtful and accurate descriptions attract the best tenants. PACE will widely promote your property by utilising all the leading websites such as Rightmove and monitoring them to ensure tenants find your property first. PACE’s own website is user-friendly, attractive, informative, easy to navigate and fully optimised for maximum exposure.

From their welcoming offices in Southchurch Road, PACE offers customers a series of convenient, competitive and individually tailored solutions, for tenants and property investors alike. Furthermore, PACE is open 7 days a week and during evenings too. The company is family-run and headed by Crystal Horwood. She says “We pride ourselves in delivering a flexible, personalised service with a standard of individual care and professionalism that’s second to none. Our fully-qualified, highly trained and friendly staff are local market and industry experts. This is reflected in the fact that so many landlords trust their investments to us.” She adds, “PACE stays ahead of the field by combining values such as honesty, fairness and respect, with the very latest training and

36

They support this powerful combination of on-line marketing activity with a strong local press presence and strategic, highly targeted direct marketing campaigns. In short, PACE leave no stone unturned to identify and capture the attention of suitable tenants. “If you are looking to rent, then look no further than PACE,” invites Crystal. “As prospective tenants your details will be entered into a sophisticated database from which you will be alerted instantly via phone, email or SMS as soon as properties ideally suited to your requirements become available.

“PACE also operates a flexible viewing policy for landlords and tenants – so evenings and weekends are just fine. And communication is key, so you will have a personal, dedicated Property Manager who will keep you informed and updated every step of the way.” These customers are delighted with the standard of care and professionalism PACE provides and are more than happy to say so. Mrs L Langley says: “Venturing into the lettings market was a big step for my husband and I, the prospect of letting our family home to complete strangers was not a decision we took lightly. After researching local letting agents we decided PACE was the best option for us. All of our questions were answered quickly and efficiently and we had no hesitation in contacting them at any time. The service they provide is quick and incredibly professional and they maintained a very down to earth, friendly manner throughout. I would like to thank PACE for the outstanding customer care they provide and I will certainly be recommending them to my friends.”

Justin comments: “As a landlord with a varied portfolio throughout the UK I have come to value PACE over the many years they have looked after my property interests in Essex. I spend little time in the UK, mostly living between Paris and Mexico City. This makes a letting agent I can rely on 100 % essential. My statements come by email as regular as clockwork as do the rent transfers into my account. The other thing I could not speak of highly enough of is the way in which maintenance issues are dealt with quickly and cost effectively.” Crystal promises: “We will provide you with a clear and highly accurate valuation, at no cost. If you simply seek advice about letting your property, feel free to pick up the phone to speak to an experienced and friendly member of the team on 01702 445600. We’re here 7 days a week and always happy to help.” Find out more at www.paceplc.co.uk

recipe of the month

1. Place the berries in a pan with the sugar and liqueur or cranberry juice. Heat gently and you will see the fruits just starting to release their juices. Remove from the heat and tip into a sieve over a bowl to collect the juices.

In the Kitchen with Judy Barden

2. Find a cutter that fits the size of the base of your pudding basins or ramekins and stamp out 8 rounds from the slices of brioche. Dip 4 pieces in the drained juice and press the soaked circles into the bottom of 4 x 200ml ramekins.

Individual Summer Puddings

T

his is a classic summer dessert that never fails to delight. When the fruit is at its best it only needs 3 other ingredients to put together. If you haven’t got any crème de framboise or cassis in the cupboard or you don’t want to use any liqueur you could replace it with some sweetened cranberry juice. I make them in little plastic pudding basins but a ramekin works just as well. Enjoy!

3. Cut strips from the remaining brioche, dip in the juices and use to line the sides of the ramekins. (this is a bit fiddly but persevere). Divide the berries between the four dishes and cover with the remaining four circles, soaked in the juice, as lids. Cover each one very loosely with cling film and then stack one on top of each other, pressing down each one like a weight. Pop a spare ramekin on top and then weigh the whole stack down with a small plate. Chill for 2 hours or until ready to serve. 4. To serve, run a knife around the inside of the ramekins and tip the puddings carefully out onto plates. Drizzle with any leftover berry juice and top with a fresh strawberry or raspberry. Serve with single cream.

Oracle Motoring

Lost in Translation I By Stuart Winder ADI

recently came across a list of the top ten worst car names of all time, and at first I thought some completely fictitious until I found images of them. As you can see from the above pictures, some of them look as bizarre as their monikers, with the Japanese seemingly throwing random magnetic-backed words at the nearest fridge to come up with a name.

So, Pop Pickers, here’s the countdown from ten to one.....

At 10: The Mazda Bongo Friendee; (1995) the name sounds more exciting than the rather bland little van it is attached to. Number 9: The Datsun Fairlady; is a pretty roadster that is the exception that proves the rule. It was named after the Musical “My Fair Lady”. In 8th position: Mitsubishi Delica Space Gear; was manufactured between 1994 and 2007 and followed Mitsubishi’s long history of dreaming up ridiculous names At 7: Honda That’s; on sale in Japan only for the first half of the ‘noughties’. Insert your own insult in the blanks...

Sticking at 6 is: Isuzu Mysterious Utility Wizard; The compact SUV with the far-fromcompact name!

Just outside the top three at No. 4: Geely Beauty Leopard; the only claim to fame of this not very beautiful compact car is that it sported the world’s first in-car karaoke machine! At 3: The Studebaker Dictator; the American maker can be forgiven for the name on the basis that the likes of Mussolini, Hitler and Franco had not come to prominence in 1927 when this car first hit the road.

Pushing the top slot at 2: The Zimmer Quicksilver; based upon the awful Pontiac Fiero, this luxury sports coupe needs more than a quirky name to overcome that bad start to life. And finally, at No.1: The Mohs Ostentatienne Opera Sedan; who knows what seaplane mogul Bruce Baldwin Mohs was thinking of when he put his name to this monstrosity! If you have any alternatives to the above and can argue a case for their inclusion, I’d be delighted to see them. Stuart Winder Planet Leasing

Gardens for the Lifeboats F

ollowing the success of the Thorpe Bay Open Garden Trail last year, when more than £2,300 was raised for Southend Lifeboat Station, a similar event will take place on Sunday 26th June.

Once again there will be four gardens open offering visitors a variety of experiences and activities as follows :91 St James Avenue, SS1 3LL – many areas of interest starting in the front garden, which is home to miniature topiary bushes, and in the rear garden herbaceous borders with rockery areas. Lawn and patio areas provide plenty of opportunity to sit and enjoy a ploughman’s lunch, or tea and cakes, which will be available throughout the day. There will also be an RNLI souvenir stall 45 Broadclyst Gardens, SS1 3QS – this large garden has lots of herbaceous borders and lawned areas adorned with many interesting statues. The garden also boasts a pond and plenty of areas to sit and enjoy the garden views. Refreshments will be available, plus a bric-a-brac stall. JUNE 2011

102 Barnstaple Road, SS1 3PW – a ‘secret’ garden boasting many different areas of interest: gravel beds, herbaceous and shrub borders and a small veggie patch. There are also 2 greenhouses one featuring cacti and succulents. This an interesting and very beautiful garden with much to delight and see. 61 Barnstaple Road, SS1 3PL – a very pretty garden measuring 80’ by 60’ where a large patio leads you down some steps to a lawn edged by beautiful herbaceous borders. There is a little Fairy Woodland Garden with a stunning magnolia tree and other woodland delights. With many garden ornaments, hanging baskets and container planting there is much beauty and interest. There is a fine gazebo on the lawn where you can sit and admire this lovely spot. Sadly, this garden is not suitable for the disabled In his Foreword to this year’s souvenir brochure, Chris Beardshaw said “The Open Gardens Scheme in 2011 is set to be a huge success since we all know that gardeners enjoy a good snoop around someone else’s

garden……What better way is there to spend a day getting top gardening tips and inspiration as well as contributing to such a worthwhile charity?” All gardens will be open from 12 noon to 5pm so do try to visit as many as you can – Admission is £3 including entry to all four gardens.

Southend Lifeboat Station News There are 235 lifeboat stations strategically placed around the UK and the Republic of Ireland and in 2010 the Southend Lifeboat Station was the second busiest with 127 launches and 130 persons rescued. The Station has more rescue units than any other station with 3 lifeboats and a hovercraft. The lifeboat station at the end of Southend pier has both a D class lifeboat and an Atlantic 75. The lifeboat station on the shore end of the Pier has another D class lifeboat and a Hovercraft.

It also has a Gift Shop at the end of the Pier which is open 7 days a week selling an extensive range of souvenirs. There are 45 volunteers trained as crewmembers, launchers and helpers. Southend on Sea was one of the first stations to be considered for an inshore rescue hovercraft, where the extensive intertidal area and adjacent mud flats at this popular seaside resort beckon the unwary. From 2004 to 2010 it has launched 169 times saving 7 lives and assisting 239 persons. This year the Southend Branch of the RNLI is raising funds to replace the existing shore side temporary structures and build a modern and flexible facility from where they can launch the search and rescue hovercraft and inshore lifeboat with ease and provide training areas for the volunteer crew members. This year’s Open Days are on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of June and the public are warmly invited to attend and see the rescue craft in action and have a good look inside the boathouse.

f you are planning a trip to see a West End show, I cannot recommend highly enough getting yourself along to the Palace Theatre and seeing the screen to stage smash hit, Priscilla Queen of the Desert. The 1994 film starring Terence Stamp, Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce - shot on location in just six weeks and on a tiny budget - is one of the most successful Australian movies of all time. Drag Queen Tick (AKA Mitzi) is disenchanted with life in Sydney when he receives a phone call from a woman (later revealed to be his ex-wife whom he hadn't heard from in 6 years) asking him to do a show thousands of miles away in Alice Springs. He asks Bernadette , whose husband had just died, and Adam (AKA Felicia), who wants to fulfil a dream of climbing Ayer’s Rock in drag, to go with them and help him put on a glamourous drag show. Adam cons his rich mum into buying them a big bus - dubbed "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" – and with the bus christened the trio head across the Outback. On their journey they discover personal reflections and revelations, homophobia, new friends, and possibly a new outlook on life.

52

T H O R P E B AY O R A C L E

The potential for Priscilla to be adapted as a stage musical may now seem obvious – big characters, hilarious comedy, a heart-warming central story, conflict, sets, costumes and, of course, great music – but it was not until 2006 it finally happened. And this fabulous stage musical has been playing to sell out audiences across the globe ever since. On stage in London the £1million scenestealing bus will take your breath away and the 500 outrageous costumes from the movie’s Oscar winning designers will make you as jealous as hell. Twenty-eight of the most glamorous and talented performers the West End can muster, will have you singing along to dance-floor classics including I Will Survive, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Shake Your Groove Thing, Don’t Leave Me This Way and Finally. The whole show will make you laugh and cry in equal measure, and leave you feeling wonderfully uplifted.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert is a legendary theatre show – don’t miss it. By Tracy Jones Brera - PR | Marketing | Creative Tel - 01702 390348 Mob - 07887 514 984 Email - tracy@brera-london.com Web - www.brera-london.com

Weighty Matters: Want to get fit? Reach for the dumbbells by Cris Ramis

4

th century BC physician Hippocrates wasn’t wrong when he wrote "That which is used develops, and that which is not used wastes away."

Regular resistance training increases muscle mass and, therefore, metabolism – which all help you to get rid of unwanted flab.

There are many different ways I work with my clients in order to help them get fit and healthy – but the method I use most frequently in order to achieve optimum results, is weight training. This is because working with weights is brilliant for both your body and your health.

Weight training alone has been shown to significantly reduce resting blood pressure. It is even more effective when combined with aerobic exercise, such as rowing, running or cycling.

Maintaining muscle

The University of Florida Medical School has conducted years of research into exercise and back pain. Their studies show that strong lower back muscles are less likely to be injured than weak ones, and that a programme of exercise targeted on spinal muscles can noticeably reduce aches and pains in this area of the body.

Only resistance training can keep muscle mass and strength throughout your life. Adults who don’t weight train will lose muscle each decade. The same training stimulus that increases muscle strength also builds bone density and mineral content after just 4 months. Therefore working at your fitness now will help you prevent breaks, stay healthy and keep mobile in later life.

Increasing strength A basic training programme with hand or machine-based weights can increase muscle and strength over just an 8-week period. This is the typical response for both men and women who do 25 minutes of resistance exercise 3 days a week.

Lower blood pressure

Reducing back pain

Weight training is a safe form of exercise when the movements are slow, controlled, and carefully defined. However, as with any form of exercise, doing it wrong or failing to take appropriate precautions can result in injury – so take professional advice, and please don’t get carried away.

Hungry for Knowledge A

t Shoeburyness High School we pride ourselves on meeting every student’s individual requirements wherever possible. So, we provide an astonishing variety of intervention activities to help our students achieve their best.

For those hungry for knowledge the breakfast club provides free food before school, rounded off at the end of the day by our homework club. Literacy, led by Claire Graham, enjoys extensive support, with intervention manager Brenda Judd’s Reading Challenge and REACT (Reading Enjoyment And Comprehension Tuition) programmes further enhancing

62

T H O R P E B AY O R A C L E

students’ comprehension skills, whilst English subject mentor, June Myers, provides remarkable individual tutoring for students in their studies. There is even literacy provision, from Carol Kemp, for year 12 and 13 students in our very own Learning Village! Our students’ reading skills are also developed in classrooms and beyond by SENCO Hilary Gover’s matchless Learning Support Assistants, running numerous courses, including LEXIA (a computer program to consolidate and build on literacy skills) and EAL (English as an Additional Language), whilst also supervising ‘quiet’ areas for scholars in breaks and lunchtimes. The ability to read is a vital skill for all and to promote reading (and many other information- gathering skills) we have our library and resource area, CDAC (Community Data Access Centre), directed with untiring commitment by Poppy Byford. The fiction book stock especially is constantly updated and renewed, but Mrs Byford also provides carefully selected book boxes to all classrooms throughout the school to allow pupils to read at every opportunity. A splendid team of students supports all this, so everybody is involved.

JUNE 2011

Numeracy, under Ian Currie, is equally well served, with head of maths Naomi Angel leading annual student maths conferences (the last one addressed by a senior official from exam board Edexcel) and holiday workshops. Maths subject mentor Elaine Eager offers students unstinting opportunities to develop their skills in Maths Plus where, alongside specialist teaching staff, students work on their maths at lunchtimes and after school. This year alone 400 students have made 2700 visits to Maths Plus! Students from Year 11 and 12 have been volunteering their form times helping other students to achieve their target grades in maths. Fortnightly workshops cater for those who are gifted and talented in maths and triumphantly too: our students have already won silver and bronze awards in UK Maths Trust Challenges. Additionally, many of our students also benefit from being taught regularly in Sally Carringon’s outstanding “Double Clubs”, themed groupings where teaching is centred on specialisms. These include Spotlight (based on performing arts), Bon Appétit (themed around cooking) and Southend United, in which tuition is given through football. Predictably enough, from a school at the JUNE 2011

forefront, our website (www.shoeburynesshigh.co.uk) gives access to yet more riches, via FRONTER, our virtual school building on the internet. This provides invaluable support materials for students; more information from learning platform manager,billsmith@shoeburyness.southend.sc h.uk.

Students’ overall academic advancement is monitored by our splendid Cross-Phase Progress Leaders (or CPPLs) Maggi Gayle, Ged Beardsall, Lara Melville and Stephanie Stables. And that’s without even mentioning Mr Beardsall’s year 10 boys performing poetry (“InVerse”) and our year 11 boys singing (“VoiceMale”)… As they say, “Every little bit helps”.
