Philosophy & Overview A Few Words About Success

Chambers’ philosophy has always been to engage with our clients, to pay attention to the details while not losing sight of the larger picture, to involve ourselves fully, to provide the best. This has worked for our clients and worked for Chambers for over 110 years. We have developed a five-part process that, when used in its entirety, starts with thorough planning and ends with meticulously considered installation of furnishings and accessories. And each of our five components can be used independently, based on client need. Master planning, architecture, interior design, purchasing, and furnishings installation have been carefully studied, refined, and constructed so that they work for projects of varying sizes, complexity,

HI STORY Through the years Chambers has met the challenges and opportunities of planning, architecture, and interior design as the demands of the design field have changed, from hotel design around the globe to luxury cruise ships to the opportunity to join those select few who have designed for the White House. Since 1899 Chambers has been providing the best.

Master Planning

Creating Structure, Moving Forward Once a program for improvement is considered, it is already underway, taking shape of some sort, moving in one direction or another. Chambers’ master planning staff can give that idea direction and context, help you to visualize it now and in the future. We can take your thoughts and vision and make them real enough to satisfy membership in your club, residents in your continuing care retirement community, or simply satisfy your personal dream. Most especially, in today’s competitive and fast-paced private club and retirement community environments approaching a project as an individual act, isolated in time, no longer works. Every project, small or large, needs to be understood relative to finances, present and prospective membership or residents, and future growth. Chambers’ master planning programs will put your project in the right context, help you explore possibilities, allow a glimpse of the future as you and your facility grow. Chambers Master Planning is the foundation of any successful development project. It is, without doubt, your direction, moving forward, gaining ground.

Architecture Purpose Driven Design

“ Architecture is strength and beauty ent wined.”

When considering a new building or an addition thought is generated by purpose—we need additional space, more functional space, more beautiful space. From there, however, where? Chambers’ architects lead from concept to completion, from purpose to that ‘where’. Not only do the individual members of our architectural team embody all the necessary tenets of the trade but they see the details, the correct association of textures, the right relationships of materials, the way a building commands or surrenders to its site. Architecture is strong, figuratively as well as literally. It springs from the original seed of an idea, reflecting, encompassing and defining purpose. Architecture is strength and beauty entwined.

6

The Environment The understanding of how everything we do as humans has an impact on the environment is integral to Chambers’ architects, interior designers, and even our purchasing department. We strive to offer you ‘green’ alternatives in every aspect of your project and we assist you in making the sometimes difficult decisions as to how to move forward, how to balance cost and environmental consciousness. Another way that Chambers works with you toward providing the best possible project.

OPPOSITE PAGE: The soaring cupola lifts spirits as well as reflecting the appropriate architectural embellishment for the building. FAR LEFT AND ABOVE: Chambers will move from initial concept to a more complete rendering of a building or interior so that club members or community residents are provided a true picture. “ . . . a beautiful room lifts the spirits, ensures enjoyment, creates a background to inspire . . .”

Interior Design Appropriate Beauty

Interior design is about comfort, perception, space planning, expectations, code requirements, appropriateness, traffic patterns: sinew. Only after those criteria have been met is interior design about color and fabrics, window treatments, furniture and lighting, accessories: beauty. Chambers understands that beauty needs a solid foundation to make it work and this is our stock in trade, the thread through more than 110 years. To the club member, restaurant patron, homeowner, office worker, a beautiful room lifts the spirits, ensures enjoyment, creates a background to inspire; but it’s the muscle underneath that beautiful skin that gives design longevity, that inspires time and again, that makes the space function and last. The entire Service Suite offered by Chambers—master planning, architecture, interior design, purchasing, and installation—contributes to the solidity necessary for great design. Be inspired, feel the underlying strength of Chambers Interior Design.

ABOVE: Large public spaces can seem intimidating; Chambers’ style is to humanize such spaces, here with custom millwork, comfortable seating in small groupings, and with warm and inviting colors, fabrics, textures. TOP RIGHT: The grand entrance is eternal, and here Chambers enhanced the rich architecture with equally rich color and pattern and brilliant lighting. RIGHT: The corporate environment is often devoid of texture and visual life. In Chambers’ own offices, the spaces, while beautifully appointed, create the background for a designer’s daily life of color and pattern.

Purchasing & Installation Things. . . Made Simple

The essence of interior design is things, things that need to be bought, that need to go to the right place, that need to be in good order, that are indeed the things you’re expecting. Chambers’ purchasing team understands that a single room can comprise hundreds of things, a larger project, thousands. What you, your members, your residents see are beautiful fabrics and trims, tables and chairs, lamps, rugs, window treatments, pictures; what our purchasing team sees is the need to place an order promptly, to obtain the best possible price with the outstanding leverage a firm of Chambers’ size and reputation offers, to know that the order is shipping on time and is going to the right destination by the right carrier; they follow the order as often as necessary and know when it arrives, they communicate with

10

local delivery agents to ensure that the proper inspection has taken place and everything is as it should be. The space you envision, the future, is taking place today as every element is made possible through our purchasing department and our furnishings installation team. Purchasing and installation may not be what you think of when you see a beautiful room, but they are two of the many ways that Chambers supplies the strength that makes the beautiful possible.

OPPOSITE PAGE: One of the largest design libraries existing brings a wealth of raw material to Chambers’ designers; the hundreds of vendors represented here also mean the best possible purchasing arrangements for clients. ABOVE: Every item, in place, correct, in the best condition: this is what your members or residents see. They don’t see the extraordinary effort needed to order, track, and receive each of those elements, but you know that Chambers is behind it all, standing behind you, for the very best results from planning to design to installation. RIGHT: As the items for a home, club, retirement community, or other hospitality venue arrive they are inspected, verified as correct, and stored, awaiting the installation date promised.
