THE MOVEMENT From The Womb was born in the heart of God and were two young people who have given life to this ministry. The ministry FTW is composed by the musician and songwriter Cecilionetti Torres and the writer and psalmist Edward Arias. The group receives its name from the verse in Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the womb I knew thee, and before you were born I consecrated you, I have appointed thee a prophet to the nations” and refers to the call “from the womb” of each of the children of God who have been separated for his kingdom.
into a deeper relationship with God. I learned that in the good times and the bad times there is nothing that can equalize a situation like worshiping God, thats when I realize that i wanted to be a worship minister to lead people into that alternate outlet to there lives.
RENEW recently had an opportunity to interview these very busy young men about their ministry.
Edward Arias: Since my childhood I knew I was called to be different, I did not know what my calling was going to be, but I knew it had to do with serving God and impacting lives. At an early age I knew I had to embrace what God had for me.
RENEW: When did you first know you were going to be a Worship Pastor?
RENEW: How long have you been a Worship Pastor?
Cecilionetti Torres: Having grown up in a pastoral house I always knew I would have a ministry within the church. I started to play the drums at the age of six, music just seemed to come naturally to me. Music son became more then just a hobby, it turned into an outlet for my emotions, and it has been what has taken me
Cecilionetti Torres: I’ve been a Worship Leader for 17 years. Edward Arias: By the grace of God I’ve had the privilege of being a Worship Pastor for Two and Half years. RENEW: Do you go on Missions Trips? To Where? Cecilionetti Torres: Yes, and recently we have traveled to Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, and we are currently working on plans to travel to Peru to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ. Cecilionetti Torres
Edward Arias: God has giving us the opportunity to go on various mission trips like Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
RENEW: What kind of music has influenced you the most? Cecilionetti Torres: I love all kind of music, but the christian pop rock culture has been of the most influence to me, i can still remember like yesterday the impact that Darlene Zscech and Hillsong when I first heard shout to the Lord. Edward Arias: Praise and Worship and Christian Rap have been the music that has influenced me the most. RENEW: What are your future goals? Cecilionetti Torres: Future plans to expand our record label, to open it up to all those worshiper that want there voice to be heard in the world. the ultimate goal is to finally become pastors of our own church and fulfill the complete calling that God has in our lives. Edward Arias: My future goals God willing are to build youth centers in third World countries where they would have the opportunity to worship God with freedom and at the same time have fun.
RENEW: Define what Worship means to you? Cecilionetti Torres: Worship is more then singing and playing an instrument, the amazing group Shekinah Glory said true worship is extreme obedience to the Lord, so I have vowed that in my hopes in becoming a true worshiper i can learn to solely and completely give myself to the Lord. Edward Arias: Worship to me means surrendering yourself completely to God and his will on our lives. 4 RENEW

NOTHING SAYS AMERICANA MORE THAN THE LEGENDARY COUNTRY-BAND ALABAMA By YIORGO The annual Patriotic Festival, the top military celebration on the East Coast, was held at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront recently and it was an outstanding success. The festival honored our armed forces personnel and their families with three days of concerts by national touring artists and military displays, demos and family-friendly festivities. Nothing says AMERICANA more than the legendary country-band Alabama, whose blend of contemporary and traditional country and southern rock combined with elements of gospel and pop music has garnered them 21 straight number one singles, more than 73 million albums sold, and a presence in both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Hollywood Walk of Fame were the featured band of the starstudded weekend. I had the pleasure of talking with Teddy Gentry, one of the founding members of the band Alabama. Yiorgo: Where were you born, and who was an influence in your life? Teddy Gentry: I was born in Fort Payne, Alabama and from an early age, my grandfather taught me the importance of hard work and to do the best in what ever you do. Whether you bagged groceries, laid carpet, or worked on a farm, and I did all of those jobs and more. Pride in your work will carry you a long way. There is no shortcut to success. We know that no one is discovered overnight. Talk about the group’s early trials and tribulations before finally making it. We started in 1973 working summer time in the Carolinas, Myrtle Beach, trying to make a name and have a following. It’s hard work and you gotta love it. It’s almost like being called to preach. If I had never been successful, I still don’t regret the hours and writing the songs. That’s where my love was, writing the songs. You have written hundreds of songs and cowritten many of Alabama’s hits such as: “My Home’s In Alabama,” “How Do I Fall In Love,” “Fallin’ Again,” “Why Lady Why,” “Give Me One More Shot,” “Sad Lookin’ Moon,” just to name a few. Can you give us a little insight about the song writing process? As a daddy myself of two girls now grown, I love the story behind your song you wrote “Never Be One” about your daughter’s second birthday. There is no set formula. Sometimes you’re inspired by the moment or an event like my daughter’s birthday. Then there are times when I have gotten together with great songwriters and the day will pass and nothing creative will happen. Those days to me are like fishing, you enjoy the company you’re with, have fun, and it is not a wasted day. For me
music and words they come together. The best part of writing is the production and arranging it for the band. First thing is you gotta love it. Its long hours, unbelievable amount of work and a very long process. I tell the young people all the time that the success comes in doing it. Enjoy the present. Don’t base your life on tomorrow. Be happy with today and what you are doing because at the end of the day you will feel that you have accomplished something. Who influenced you in music? Merle Haggard was a big influence as far as a songwriter and singer. Also the bands like the Beatles and the Eagles influenced me. Harmony bands were always the one’s I tried to learn from. My music taste is wide and vague. I love a lot of different types of music. You are also in the cattle business. God has blessed me with a good life. With my wife Linda we live on our 140-acre farm that I named “Bent Tree Farms” doing what I love to do when not writing music and that is raising cattle. The name comes after what the Indians would do once they left an area. They would bend over the small trees and tie them to the ground, in order to point the direction the tribe was moving at the time. The land once belonged to my grandfather and my great grandfather. I was raised on that farm.

But then again we are in our 60s now so we can’t talk about riding in a pick up truck with a pretty girl! Do you still enjoy the touring? Oh yes! We do not do that many tours anymore. We are very fortunate in that we have a nice problem. We cannot play all of our number one songs at our shows. We are giving the fans the songs that threw the years we get the biggest response from so we can all have fun together.

Any wow moments, meeting someone you admire, etc. The highest honor I have ever felt was when President George H. W. Bush invited me to fly on Air Force One with him. Alabama played for a barbeque on the White House lawn and after the show we were standing backstage talking and he said he was going to Marietta, Georgia and offered us a ride on Air Force One. So I took him up on it. I got there 30 minutes early before the President, and the head steward took me on a tour of Air Force One. It was something I will never forget and a major highlight in my life. I love your new Gospel Album “Angels Among Us: Hymns & Gospel Favorites.” Thank you. We all grew up in the church and it was something we wanted to do for a long time. It was a lot of fun to do. From the old ones, to coming up with some new arrangements, it was a lot of fun. Can you give us a sneak peak on what you are currently recording in the studio? Yes, it will come out in the fall. We use the same formula if there is such a thing. Pick the best songs and try to do your best performance. We are not trying to change what has worked for us over the years. JULY 2015 RENEW

Summer Transitions
T
he school year is officially over! Our family will experience what I call 2 major transitions this summer...both of our kids transitioning to a new phase in life. And while my husband and I knew this time would come, the bittersweet moment helped us to realize that we are now the parents of teenagers! That realization will require us both to transition from the direct hands-on approach to parenting, to more of a ‘coach’s’ mentality where now it’s time to execute the plays you’ve been taught. The end signifies a new beginning, and as we anticipate an exciting and relaxing summer, we’re mindful of the preparations that must take place. All of us will experience a metamorphosis several times during our lives. We essentially will exchange one identity for another. Even after you’re all grown up, your identity isn’t fixed. You’ll change marital status, become a parent, switch careers, your kids will graduate high school/college, or even get married. The fact is that any transition serious enough to alter your definition of self will require not just small adjustments in your way of living and thinking, but a full metamorphosis. I’m not referring to the cocoon to butterfly metamorphosis we’re so familiar with from school...there’s a term called Human Psychological Metamorphosis, and it occurs in (4) stages or phases. You’ll experience the phases after any major change catalyst, and the strategy for dealing with the change depend on the phase you’re experiencing.
Phase 1 requires us to ‘Dissolve’ the person we’ve always been. It’s the scariest phase because we aren’t taught to expect it. Whether it’s single now married, married now single, first time parent, full-time student to now employed, all will require a shift in how you think and live. Initially, there is a tendency to fight against the change, or an attempt to live the old and the new simultaneously. One of the biggest hurdles for some newlyweds to overcome is the realization that life as you knew it no longer exists, understanding that

with marriage comes responsibility but also accountability to someone other than yourself. First time parents may struggle with the balance of time, also realizing that the choices they make now impact the child. That newly graduated student now faces the realities of finding and sustaining employment all the while managing expenses without mom and dad. Whether you like it or not, your life is in a constant state of change, and while some people welcome it and are able to roll with it, life transitions provide the opportunity to get to know yourself better.
Phase 2 requires us to ‘Imagine’ the life you are about to create. When you start to see images of this life you’ll know you’re becoming a new person because you’ll start to develop traits and interest that your old self didn’t have. This is the stage where we feel the need to change our hairstyle or wardrobe, decide to redecorate your living space to fit where you are now. Much about the old no longer applies and you begin to reorder your outer situation to reflect what’s happening on the inside. Visual changes on the outside are simply a reflection of what’s occurring inside. I’ve found that one of the best ways to deal in this stage is to allow myself the space and time to daydream. Try out imaginary scenarios until you have a clear picture of your goals and desires. You save a lot of time, effort and error by giving yourself time to do this in your head before you ever attempt it in the real world.
Phase 3 requires us to ‘Implement’ what we’ve day dreamed about. This is where you stop fantasizing about what it would be like to see your photographs in a major magazine, to
submitting your work to publications and organizations, or what it would be like to see your book on display at major retailers, to submitting your draft to a publisher. You’ll feel motivated to do real, more rewarding things to build on your new life. The drawback to this phase is that here is where you tend to fail…..repeatedly. Like anything new, or important, it’s inevitable that issues will arise that you didn’t expect. Phase 3 requires tenacity and sometimes requires us to go back to the drawing board. The old saying is true….if at first you don’t succeed, try again,…..and again. Early mistakes are always a sign that it just wasn’t meant to be. To experience a successful transition in any area of life, you must be willing to adjust. Finally, Phase 4 allows us to ‘Enjoy the Payoff’! This is the time when you’re somewhat settled into the new transition. The kids are gone and you have more time for self, what will you do? You’ve adjusted to the new position and you’re ready to establish the professional connections you’ll need to help you grow in your new career. Who will you call? Here is where you fine-tune, making small improvements along the way. Change and transition are inevitable in life.....both require a measure of preparation, patience and perisistence, but don’t rest here too long……more change is coming!
5 WAYS TO GET BUYERS TO SEE YOUR OPEN HOUSE AS THEIR NEW HOME!
W
hat makes a person or a family decide a home is the perfect for them? Is it all location, location, location? What about price, schools or the neighborhood? Or is it something else; a feeling they get when they walk in the door, a detail they notice or a scent in the air. If you’re selling your home your home, your location, neighborhood and school district are predetermined. Yet there is plenty you can do yourself to make sure your open house has that wow factor and captivates would-be buyers. Here are five tips to get you started so that next family will determine your home is the perfect home. • Get clean. It sounds simple, but it’s amazing how many homeowners don’t clean their homes before an open house. This is one case where lived-in isn’t going to cut it. The kitchen and bathrooms should be spotless, cracked tiles should be repaired and any plumbing issues should be addressed. Expect that people will try the sinks and flush the toilets. If you don’t feel you can get your home ready on your own, hire a professional cleaning service to do the job for you. The money you spend on the cleaners will be well worth it when your house sells quickly. • Add a fresh sent to the air. Your home should be pleasing to the eye as well as pleasing to the nose. Realtors have recognized the benefits of great smells for years. You can keep your home smelling great throughout the showing - and
without synthetic ingredients - by using pure essential oils from Aura Cacia. Try this simple recipe to create a warm, comforting atmosphere that can help put potential property buyers at ease with these recipes: 1 cup coarse-grained, chunky sea salt 1 teaspoon jojoba or grapeseed oil (just enough to make the salts glisten)
appliance or fresh coat of bedroom paint will give you a better chance to sell your home than other projects may allow.
25 drops vanilla precious essential oil 10 drops lavender essential oil 10 drops sweet orange essential oil Mix salt and oils, pour into a decorative dish or bowl and set out on a table. Placing the crystals in a warm sunny window or near a heat register will help diffuse the delicious aroma throughout the room. Stir in additional essential oils to boost the scent as needed. More recipe ideas and open house tips can be found at www.auracacia.com. • Time for a makeover. If your home needs a more substantial makeover before it can sell, focus your energy and your money on the most important rooms in the home. Kitchens and master bedrooms sell homes, meaning that a granite countertop, new
• Cut the clutter. Even the cleanest homes still feel messy if there’s lots of clutter. Before your open house, adopt a minimalist approach and keep your home as clutter-free as possible. Remember, you want buyers to see the beauty of your home, not simply the items you keep in it. • Start at the curb. Poor curb appeal can put buyers off to your home before they even step foot inside. Make sure your home’s outside is every bit as beautiful as the inside. Paint the exterior if you need to, plant flowers in the flower bed and mow the lawn. Buyers should never walk up to your front door already thinking it’s a fixer-upper. An open house provides an excellent opportunity to showcase your home and help buyers fall in love with. And once they do, they’re sure to make your current home their future home.

COMMON PERSPECTIVES FOR WOMEN BUSINESS OWNERS By Jorge Yinat, Ph.D. The startup rate for women-led businesses has recovered from the recession, and minority women are leading the way. According to Janie Boschma of the National Journal, female entrepreneurs are launching more businesses, with nonwhite women contributing more than half of that growth last year. According to research, the “typical female entrepreneur is married with children, herself the first-born child of middle class parents. Her business is most likely to be service-oriented, and she tends to start it around the age of 40. Obstacles include problems with finance and credit, as well as lack of business and financial planning training. Furthermore, women business owners face certain obstacles to growth. Those obstacles include not setting goals, and not understanding their finances. Additionally, many women see having a million-dollar business as too extreme. They think it is too much money and will change their lives or families according to recent studies. Women also do not ask for help, or do not get help when they need it. Some women may feel they have to do it all or something is wrong if they do not. This transcends into cultural and gender norms imposed onto women in our society. Successful women business owners who make it have some things in common. They get help cleaning their house and/or babysitting. They hire someone to help them in the business, even if it is on a project basis or it is an intern. They might get their groceries delivered. Women business owners are seeking to free themselves from daily chores to give themselves more time to grow their business and strike a work-life balance. Overall, the number of women-owned firms has grown by 17 percent between 2007 and 2014, almost triple the rate of growth (7 percent) between 2007 and 2012 at the height of the recession. Since 1997, the number of female-run businesses has grown by 74 percent, well above the national growth rate of 51 percent for all firms. Women now run more than 9.4 million businesses in the United States. (Source: Women able/American Express estimates of U.S. Census data) Though the number of self-employed women has been increasing dramatically in recent year, the vast majority of studies of entrepreneurs focused on non-minority men. Despite the evident growth, researchers conclude their findings with specific recommendations to female entrepreneurs for improvement: (1) Women should be encouraged to study in fields of business management. (2) Women should have access to seminars on finance, management, marketing, time management, etc. (3) Women should seek assistance from experts, colleagues, and friends to establish formal and informal networks. The http://www.clas.network (CLAS) in Williamsburg will host a series of round table talks about resources available to Hispanic women business owners. CLAS will host a special event with speakers who will talk about how to take woman owned businesses to the next level in the fall of 2015.

DESIGNING WOMEN Women’s confidence in designing their retirement futures is on the rise, and they are ahead of men in finding ways to increase cash flow during retirement as well as cut costs now.

According to a survey commissioned by online investing firm Scottrade, Inc., women’s confidence in their ability to plan for retirement has reached a threeyear high, with 69 percent of women rating their confidence level as good or very good, putting their confidence level on par with men’s for the first time in years.
The most recent U.S. Department of Labor statistics show that women account for nearly half of the American workforce, and the number is growing. As employers invest more in women, it seems that women are investing more in themselves, taking proactive steps to get the most out of the money they earn by becoming more financially savvy investors and spenders. Forty percent of women have structured their portfolios to include investments that will generate income during retirement, compared to 30 percent of men, according to the Scottrade study. And just over half (51 percent) of women say that generating income during retirement is more important to them now than it was one year ago. In addition, the study found that women are more likely than men to take proactive steps to address finances by finding ways to save money. Ninety-four percent of women are taking measures to save money versus 88 percent of men. Many of the steps women are taking are simple things that anyone can start today: • 71 percent are using coupons • 63 percent are comparing prices to find the best deal • 58 percent are cutting back on purchases like clothing • 52 percent are cutting back on entertainment, such as dining out and going to the movies Craig Hogan, director of customer intelligence at Scottrade, has seen an increase in investors seeking out easy-to-use products, tools and resources to help them self-direct their investments and trade with more confidence. “In addition to finding the tools they need to manage their investments, investors come to us because they are looking for a good deal,” he said. Hogan said that it is important for investors to get educated on their own finances, as well as on their savings options, as they prepare to take the reins on planning and saving for retirement. To get started, he says to: • Take stock in your current situation. Review your accounts and your current financial situation so that you understand your portfolio. • Get a realistic picture of how much you’ll need. Determine how much you’ll need to save for retirement by using an online retirement calculator, such as the one at www.scottrade.com. • Get educated. There are many investment options available. To make informed retirement investment decisions, you need to understand your choices. Scottrade’s extensive Knowledge Center, available at www.scottrade.com, offers free educational resources and interactive tools to help investors create financial and retirement plans. GET A GREAT START TO THE DAY
D
oes eating breakfast every day sound like a good idea that is hard to pull off? If so, you’re not alone. More than half of adults (54 percent) say they would like to eat breakfast every day, but only 34 percent actually do.
Wanting to better understand Americans’ morning meal habits, Kellogg recently conducted the Breakfast in America Survey. Findings revealed that nearly all moms (89 percent) want their kids to eat breakfast every day, but 40 percent of moms report their child doesn’t do so daily. The good news is that the dynamic duo of cereal and milk is a quick and tasty source of 10 nutrients important to growing bodies, including calcium, iron, vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, vitamin D, riboflavin, niacin, folate, zinc and thiamin. It’s important to look for cereals that contain not just whole grains but fiber. Fiber is important because it promotes a healthy digestive tract - which has an impact on overall well-being, according to the International Food Information Council. The Nutrition Facts panel and ingredients list on packaging is there to help you compare whole grain products so you can choose those higher in dietary fiber. A “good source” has at least 3 grams of fiber, or 10 percent Daily Value. An “excellent source” has at least 5 grams, or 20 percent Daily Value, according to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. water, which contains high levels of calcium and magnesium, results in scale formation on the interior surfaces of those pipes which provides a perfect home for bacteria.
The problem isn’t only in the kitchen. When you take a hot shower, the steam you are inhaling can also contain the same microbial contamination that is in the rest of your plumbing, exposing you to pathogenic bacteria such as Legionella, which can cause Legionnaire’s disease.
Researchers at the School of Sustainable Engineering at Arizona State University found that bacteria may grow at the same rate in pipes filled with both hard and soft scale. This is important new information as some forms of water conditioners produce this soft scale.

It felt good to be sitting at her desk again. As rewarding and wonderful as it had felt to help the people who were victims of the devastating tornadoes, there wasn’t anything like being home and getting to catch up with her regular clients. The only dark spot of the morning was the fact that she hadn’t seem Amber that morning. She had said thank you the night before after her surprise birthday party, but that was it. She’d once again holed up in her room for the Part 20 rest of the night and apparently stirred before Marla had BY TRACY WAINWRIGHT hadn’t left for work that morning. Seeds. She was just planting seeds. Showing Amber the love that she seemed so desperately lacking. With a sigh, Marla turned to her agenda. Her wonderful secretary had scheduled her week with all her clients who’d missed her the two and a half weeks she’d been gone. There wasn’t hardly a moment for her to catch her breath. She grinned. Except for the hour lunch blocked out each day. But the days would be long. Appointments through seven o’clock every day but Friday. The first one was in ten minutes. Kimberly. And she was grateful. If there had been one client she’d worried about most, it’d been her. She’d almost texted her a dozen times since taking leave, but didn’t want to open herself up to an unhealthy dependency. She’d know soon how the girl was doing. Right on time, her phone buzzed. “Your appointment is here.” “Great. I’m ready. Send her on back.” A moment later, Kimberly arrived in her doorway wearing a shy grin. Marla stood and the younger woman embraced her hello before taking her seat. “Good morning, Kimberly. You look well.” Her cheeks flushed. “Thanks. I think I’m doing okay. The baby’s healthy. I had an appointment yesterday. Just a few more weeks and I find out what it is.” “You sound…almost excited. Does that mean you’ve had a chance to talk things through with Mack and made some decisions?” She glanced discreetly at the girl’s left hand but found no new sparkling jewelry adorning it. “Yes, well, kind of.” “Okay, that’s ambiguous. Are you gonna let your counselor in on what that means?” “Well, Mack has been great. A little shell-shocked and scared, but great. He hasn’t dumped me, hasn’t given me any ultimatums. He says he’ll support whatever I decide.” “All right.” Kimberly inhaled deeply and let it out slow. “We still want to get married, just not right now. We don’t think it’d be best to start a family now.” Marla bit her bottom lip, resisting the urge to ask what that meant. She would get to it. In her own time. Another deep breath. “I love my baby already and want what’s absolutely best for him or her. We really don’t believe we can give that right now. We have no means of supporting ourselves, much less a baby. And I’ve researched and researched. I even talked to my parents. They’re supporting me in my decision, but can’t support me financially. They’re barely making it themselves.” Marla sat back. She was used to clients dancing around issues. Talking up one side and down the other before getting to the point. But it was taking everything in her not to jump in. This wasn’t a simple or easy situation or choice, and it would have ramifications for many people. She so desperately wanted her to make the right choice. Kimberly fidgeted with the strap of her purse, sitting in her lap. “I didn’t even know you could do this, but once I found out and read a few stories, I knew it was what we need to do.” Marla offered an encouraging smile. “We’re going to put the baby up for adoption, but it has to be open. Mack and I believe we’ll have a family one day and don’t want to exclude this baby. That way he or she can be well-cared for and know how much we love him or her.” “Kimberly, that’s great.” Marla’s heart raced. No, she could not be having the thoughts she was having. It wasn’t possible. Maybe not even ethical. She brushed them aside, focusing on walking by Tracy Wainwright, Home Manager, Writer, Speaker, her client through her decision. Conference Director

5 WAYS TO AVOID COSTLY REPETITIVE STRESS INJURIES
You’re probably unaware that sitting at your computer and typing something you do every day - can leave you at risk for significant pain and discomfort. If you are concerned about these repetitive stress injuries, there are things you can do to prevent them. 1. Make sure you are sitting properly at your desk. The best sitting posture brings your knees at or above hip level. Add a foot rest to your desk setup to help accomplish this. 2. Add support for your wrists. Adding a wrist cushion for your mouse can help your hand stay at an appropriate angle when maneuvering your mouse. 3. With a keyboard wrist cushion you can make sure you stay ahead of any potential problems. IMAK Products makes mouse and keyboard cushions which can massage your wrists while typing or using your mouse. Learn more at www.imakproducts.com. 4. Make sure your screen is at eye-level - a stand or phonebook underneath can add needed height. 5. Lower your keyboard. Most likely, your desk is at a good height for writing, but not necessarily optimal for typing. Add a keyboard tray under your desk to place your keyboard in an ergonomically appropriate place.

Integrating security upgrades into your next remodel or renovation can be one of the most valuable investments a homeowner can make. Thinking beyond aesthetics could save your home from the threats of theft, fire, or natural disaster. According to Mark and Theresa Clement, home renovation experts and authors of MyFixItUpLife.com, integrating safety into your next remodel or home project is simple and “as essential as plumbing in a home renovation plan,” said Theresa. Mark and Theresa offer the following tips for securing some of the most prized areas of your home:
locks—even on garage doors—and consider overhead storage that conceals and protects from weather. One of the simplest things you can do: Lock up ladders stored outdoors. Many of us diligently lock the first floor windows, but not the second. If you’re like the Clements, consider storing highvalue tools—like the tools your grandfather handed down to you or irreplaceable antique tools too valuable for everyday DIY—in locked cabinets or a safe. Large home safes, like those available from Cannon Safe®, can comfortably house tools and are fire proof. 3) Patio or Deck: If your home updates include deck or patio renovations, be sure to hire a certified contractor and use quality materials and procedures. This will ensure a long-lasting product that doesn’t quickly deteriorate. Plan inspections annually to ensure railings are secure and boards free from rot or wear.
4) Bedroom or Home Office: In bedrooms or home offices, storage and closet space is a must, and adding extra security is easy. A custominstalled home safe ensures you can easily access items in case of an emergency and rest assured that your prized possessions are safe in case of fire or natural disaster. Cannon safes offer shelving and storage options designed to organize and protect documents, jewelry, or even a prized shoe collection. And with a power supply built-in, they’re perfect for storing electronics, hard drives, and routers. Wherever you choose to add some do-ityourself upgrades, always keep safety in mind. 1) Entry Way: This area is the first place guests see, but it can also be an entry point for the unwelcomed kind. Ensure your door offers the right amount of security with properly working, heavy-duty locks. Add additional security with a camera or security system. Entryways are also a common gathering spot for keys, mail, and wallets. Consider concealing these valuables with creative storage solutions that protect and organize everything from spare keys to the kids’ report cards. 2) Garage, Shop, or Man Cave: Repurposing sheds and garages into “man caves” with bars and TVs is a popular trend. For most families, these areas are overlooked when it comes to security, and yet house high-value items. Install JULY 2015 RENEW
