We present to you our annual Guide to International Schools. A showcase for leading schools in Singapore, and a little further afield, the Guide is designed to support those considering education options for their children.
Choosing the right school is an important and complex task. How your children learn best, how they respond to the structure of a school, and what interests them - only you as parents can know best.
When reviewing the options consider the whole picture, from academic results and facilities to the combined ongoing costs, opportunities for extracurricular activities and creative outlets - every piece of the puzzle is important in making a good choice.
We wish you and your family all the best for your school search, and hope that this Guide provides you with useful comparable information.
Should you need an introduction or have further questions, please get in touch at info@britcham.org.sg and we will be happy to help.

“Brighton College (Singapore) is a Prep School which prides itself on knowing every single pupil really well. Our class sizes and teacher to pupil ratio make sure this can happen.
Ask a pupil the best thing about Brighton College (Singapore) and she or he will likely recount science experiments with rockets, virtual reality journeys through the heart in Science, becoming a scavenger hunter in English or a superhero in French lessons.
Our pupils are curious, they enjoy discovering and they feel confident and resilient enough to try and to learn from their attempts, whether successful or not.
Our atmosphere and culture would likely set us apart also; the College is a truly purposeful and friendly school.

Andrew Noakes Head MasterPrep (Year 2 & 4) Parent
“Brighton College is a great school because the fantastic teaching and support team care about each individual child and their holistic development. We chose Brighton College because the school has got a great reputation in the UK, but also I love the ethos of kindness that runs through the school, that offers a great baseline for the children to be able to explore, take risks, fail and learn from it. And it just instinctively felt like a great place to send our girls.”
Prep (Year 2 & 4) Parent
“The teachers at Brighton College (Singapore) are passionate and commited and are able to connect with the students. We recommend Brighton for a number of reasons. The size and diversity of the school are such that our kids look forward to going each day, and they return home full of enthusiasm.”
Pre - Prep (Year 1) Parent
“So far we felt very much part of the Brighton College community and communication throughout the process has been excellent. We felt a real passion and dedication from the staff at the school and that has influenced our choice.”
Prep (Year 2) Parent
“We thought it would be great for our son to have the opportunity to thrive in a smaller environment. For us it was about not just the what but about the how, and we really liked that fact that our son can come here and find out what he’s going to be great and fulfil his potential.”
Brighton College (Singapore) recently announced that it had received approval to extend its curriculum and course offerings to pupils aged up to 13 years from August 2025.
The approval allows us to offer our renowned and robust British National curriculum and focus on the development of the whole child throughout their formative years, setting them up superbly for future success. The expansion of the school to pupils aged up to 13 means that it can offer a Brighton College education to more children for longer, to encompass their critical growth years.
The College well-placed to prepare children for the next stage of their education in schools anywhere in the world. We want our pupils to delight in being curious, to be able to confidently use their knowledge and skills and all whilst ensuring kindness is at the forefront of their minds. Importantly, Brighton College pupils go on to realise they can make a positive difference and impact wherever they may go.
Brighton College (Singapore) pupils retain significant elements of the Brighton DNA in exploring their strengths and talents. Taking from the school's three pillars of curiosity, confidence and kindness, students are nurtured based on their unique characteristics and abilities.
This involves celebrating students for who they are, whether they are sporty, artistic or scholarly. In this way, children learn to take joy and pride in diversity by acknowledging the individual strengths of themselves and their peers
Kindness Curiosity Confidence
Dover Court International School is more than just a school: we are a community with inclusion at our heart. We are the only fully inclusive British-style international school in Singapore and our mission is to prepare students to flourish in our dynamic world, to be active participants in a globally connected community, now and throughout life. We are guided, challenged and inspired by our core values of Excellence, Diversity, Integrity, Resilience, Creativity and Kindness.
We build strong foundations for learning and self-discovery, cultivating agency so that students are empowered and equipped to take on global challenges. Celebrating multiculturalism and neurodiversity, we champion inclusivity to ensure success for every child. For some, that success is measured in traditional examinations. With an average IB Diploma Programme points score in 2022 of 39, and with 56% of our graduates achieving 40+ points, we stand among the very best in Singapore and the world.
We offer three distinct pathways to cater to different needs. Pathway One is the mainstream educational programme; Pathway Two provides for students who need additional support with challenges such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and high-functioning autism, among others. Pathway Three is designed
for students needing help in functional life skills. All students across the three pathways closely interact with each other, creating a nurturing environment where an awareness of a truly diverse world is formed.
We place great importance on developing the whole child – physically, academically, socially and spiritually. To achieve this, we collaborate with parents to understand their different views on education and their expectations of our school. Following our annual parent survey we apply the learning from these engagements into our learning environments and our programmes.
As a Nord Anglia Education school, we enjoy access to the world’s best educators, all of whom are highly trained to provide individualised learning experiences to students from ages three to 18. Our collaborations allow us to work together with esteemed institutions such as The Juilliard School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, UNICEF, and The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families to create bespoke programmes for staff and students.
Richard Dyer PrincipalWhen I look back at my time at Dover Court International School, the main thing that will stand out (other than good friends and memories!) is the teachers. They are the true MVPs behind our cohort’s good grades. It was visible to us, as students, the uncountable extra hours that all our teachers put into marking our tests and coursework.
However, whilst it was their extra work that got us the grades, it was their kindness as more than just teachers that got us through the course. Allowing us to use their classrooms as a fun and safe space at lunch, constantly looking out for us and providing guidance for the future are a few examples of how they went above and beyond to support us during the very important last two years of our education.
– 2022 Graduate, now attending University of Exeter
I still remember when in Year 8 our Form Tutor showed us a philosophy video during form time. At that time, I had just come from a non-English speaking country and that was the first time I watched a Crash Course video, since then a new world opened in front of me. Through the 6 years at Dover Court, I have met amazing teachers and friends, who supported me mentally and set examples for what kind of person I want to be. They never hesitated to give me compliments and that really built up my confidence, supported me to reach my dream. Without the care and support of the community, I would never be who I am today. I don’t dare to say it is the best version of me, but I am really happy and appreciate what I have in the present.
I’m so thankful for all the opportunities I received at Dover Court because they shaped me as a person and helped prepare me for the next steps in my education.
– 2022 Graduate, now attending Imperial College London

I had the privilege as the founding Head of College of opening the doors to Dulwich College (Singapore) in 2014 and since then we have gone on to become one of the leading international schools on the island. Our College has a British independent school ethos and draws upon the proud 400-year heritage, excellence, innovation and values of our founding school in London. We are part of the Dulwich College International Family of Schools and have a global outlook and contemporary approach, reflecting the diversity of the student body here. ‘Students come first’ is at the heart of everything we do at Dulwich. Whether it is in the on-campus or online environment, all our learning experiences are designed with the needs, talents and capabilities of our students as the focus. Helping students cultivate their own voice and choice in the way they learn, and enabling them to become mature learners who can take ownership of their learning, is a big part of life at Dulwich.
Our College provides a safe, secure and stimulating environment and we believe in educating the whole child. Children gain knowledge and understanding of the world by questioning and actively solving problems and working collaboratively together. Awareness of the natural world and its resources is important as children learn to live their lives honestly with a spirit of respect for themselves and others. Our state-of-the-art campus and rich academic, sports, performing arts and music curriculum are designed to help each individual child reach their potential and make a positive difference in the world. We challenge each child to be the best they can be and support them in developing a lifelong love of learning.
Good learning takes good teaching, and we believe in recruiting the very best teachers and investing in their continuous professional learning and development. As part of the Dulwich College International Family of Schools, our teachers have access to a much broader range of opportunities for personal and career enhancement, including spending time or working at other Dulwich Colleges overseas to enhance their experience of teaching and learning in a different context. This enables the sharing of best practice and transfer of experience.
I am proud of what we have achieved in our first seven years. We are shaping the global citizens of the future and want them to be outward-looking with a keen sense of adding value to the community within which they live and a responsibility to nurture the planet for future generations.
We warmly welcome all to take a personal tour of our College. We would be delighted to show you around so you can see our College in action for yourselves.
Nick Magnus Head of CollegeThree of my sons have been part of the Dulwich College (Singapore) family. My oldest one graduated this year (Class of 2022), while my two younger boys are currently in Year 11 and Year 6.
Dulwich College (Singapore) is an exceptional school. The community is very welcoming and always willing to help. Pastoral care is amazing. The school really puts the children first. Teachers are supportive, highly motivated, enthusiastic and I feel they really know my children well. They always reply to my emails. The mandarin department makes lessons fun and engaging. The University Counselling team is fantastic too. My oldest son was well guided by the team throughout his IB journey, by helping my son choose universities which best suited him based on what he wanted to study.
At Dulwich you are not just a number. You are part of a family. The Head of College is very approachable and a great role model. He walks the talk and has time for a chat. Same goes for the Head of Senior School and Head of Junior School. Facilities are great, with a wide range of CCA options available. There is something for everyone.
The sports, drama and music department are top-notch. My oldest son, who is into sports, was part of the Ignite! Exceptional Performance Development Programme which was an enriching experience for him. He has learned so much from his sports teachers. My second son is into drama, and being part of a stage crew is his passion. He is currently part of the lightning team and has learned so much from his drama teachers. My youngest loves all of his teachers. They are caring and supportive. He always looks forward to going to school. The school gives my children a sense of belonging. My boys are proud to be part of such an outstanding and caring school!
Jody Che, Parent
Moving to Singapore in the middle of a pandemic was never something I imagined our family doing, but Dulwich made the transition for our children smooth and comfortable. We moved to Dulwich from an American school system, and the teachers and staff made sure the children settled in without a hitch. Over the past two years, every teacher I have met has been attentive and deeply invested in my kids, in both their academics and social lives. The Heads of School are always available to discuss your concerns, and can be seen amongst the students on a daily basis. They truly get to know their students.
We chose Dulwich because of their strong academic standing, their wide variety of CCAs offered as well as their excellent (and mandatory) Chinese programming. We believed that sending our kids to Dulwich would allow them to develop into well rounded global citizens; and so far, we have been very pleased with how our kids have blossomed. We love that the Dulwich Family is diverse and inclusive, and have made friendships that we know will last a lifetime.
Tejas Thorpe, Senior School Student
I have been a student at Dulwich College (Singapore) since I was in Junior School. This year marks my 9th at the College. Throughout my time here, I have always been presented with countless opportunities and all the necessary support to reach my fullest sporting potential.
I strongly believe that at Dulwich, students are placed first and that we are given a choice. Regardless of sporting ability, the College ensures that everyone is given a chance to pursue a sport that they enjoy, develop their skills and achieve their sporting goals.
Students who prefer to approach sports as an extra-curricular activity may do so as there are over 300 options. Older students are also encouraged to guide and coach the younger ones, which creates strong bonds across the year groups and the College as a whole. Additionally, for those who prefer to be involved in Sports at a more competitive level, opportunities to participate in the weekly fixtures between other schools and occasional competitions aboard are also available. Overall, Sports at the College is extremally inclusive of all students abilities.
Being a keen athlete, I have been selected to be in the Ignite! Exceptional Performance Development Programme. Ignite! supports Senior School students similar to myself, who have a strong interest and passion in sport (or in music and the arts) and helps us to develop in all aspects of sporting ability. Being part of this programme has continued to boost my development as an athlete and helped me reach my goals. I have a mentor that guides me through physical conditioning and advises me on specific training regimes. This has certainly helped me shape and achieve my goal of becoming a better sportsperson.
What I truly enjoy about the College are the many state-of-the-art training facilities and the fantastic coaching staff. They make it their priority to guide and support us to reach our fullest potential and to meet our goals.

I must say that with the help of her teachers in Epsom, they gravitated her towards her potential, they provided her the right journeys to reach the destination that she wants, because at the end of the day it is the child that is integral.
- Mahmood G., Parent (A-Level Programme)
When we walk in, it’s like a mini England here! It is a fantastic programme because it brings the best of both worlds. I don’t see many places that offer bilingual education. Both of these languages are equally important, and if you are able to converse and switch between English and Mandarin just like that, on that person itself it’s very good for their future.
- Beh, Parent (English Mandarin Immersion Programme)
My son’s always been quite good at sports, and he gets huge opportunities here to do that. But also with things like the Inter-house Choral competitions, he got a chance to sing, which is not something that he would normally do and he really enjoyed it!
- Sian G., Parent (IGCSE Programme)
We have two sons studying here at Epsom. It’s amazing to see how the boys develop with the school. Epsom’s one of the few educational institutions that provide a really British education, so that’s what really attracted us to enrol our children here. It’s been a fantastic journey for us. The children see school as an adventure, they enjoy it everyday, they’re excelling both academically and as an individual as well. They have the opportunities to perform in music recitals, festivals and so forth.
- Kamrul C., Parent (Prep School)
The application process to US universities is complex, but with the one-on-one consultation with the Head of Higher Education in Epsom, I got personalised help and guidance for my essay writing and recommendation letter. So Epsom really prepared me to show the best version of myself with the admission tutors in US universities.
- Yugendran R., Class of 2020 - Enrolled in Stanford University
I think when you’re in an environment where people believe in you as much as my teachers have, it’s very hard not to thrive. To be in an environment like that is really helpful in terms of achieving goals. I’ve never met a teacher who told me my goal was disproportionate to my abilities or who made me feel like it was unattainable.
- Cazra G., Class of 2022 - Enrolled in The University of Cambridge

Alan Stevens of Marlborough College Malaysia“We’ve lived in Singapore since 2003 and we moved to Malaysia in 2014 to live close to Marlborough College Malaysia.
The initial attraction of MCM was the physical space –the expansive playing fields, the large classrooms and recreational areas, and the extensive facilities. Space not only encourages physical activity, it provides a social and learning environment that stimulates the imagination. The school even has its own farm where kids can learn how to grow their own vegetables.
Our boys love the wide range of activities in and beyond the classroom – it nourishes mind, body and soul. They find the teachers very friendly, supportive and encouraging. They’re always secure and comfortable, which means they can stretch themselves further.
The most wonderful aspect of MCM is its ethos, enshrined by the 3C’s of Compassion, Companionship and Conversation. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing your children grow up with manners, empathy and respect for themselves, others and the world around them.”
- Mr and Mrs Wilson, Prep School parents
“Marlborough College Malaysia has made us proud parents by giving opportunities to our children to excel in academics and sports. The support and commitment by dedicated teaching staff with highly motivated pupils have set high standards of education within this region”
- Mrs J Lim, Prep School Parents
“Our daughter has been boarding at MCM since Year 5 and is currently in Lower Sixth. In addition to the wonderful extra-curricular at Marlborough, Meredith has formed strong and lifelong friendships with her peers and her schoolwork has flourished because she has access to an impressive array of very diligent and caring teachers.”
-Mr & Mrs Regan, Senior School Parents
“It is friendly and relaxing as the members of staff are understanding and caring. If we do have problems, the staff are always there to sort it out and this makes me feel very supported.”
- An MCM boarder
“I like how there are teachers who support us no matter the circumstances.”
- An MCM day pupil
“I like how living on campus doesn’t feel like I’m still at school, after a long day at school I know that coming into the boarding house makes me feel as if I’ve just arrived at home.”
- An MCM boarder
As parents, we all want to give our children the very best start in life. Its unique structure, internationally prize-winning performance, small size and world class resources means that parents from the UK, Singapore and over 40 other nations have trusted Marlborough College Malaysia to provide just that.
Don’t take our word for it: Marlborough College Malaysia has been listed independently as one of the world’s leading 100 schools. Not only do children here achieve academic standards that are in the top 2% globally, but pastoral care, and boarding at Marlborough have attracted international awards for innovative and leading practice within the last two years. Marlborough College Malaysia has been given Beacon School status by COBIS, which designates us as a centre of global best practice. This is reflected in the phenomenal pastoral care that surrounds our pupils. Our Boarding pupils are able to benefit from this outstanding care 24/7, with modern dedicated boarding houses staffed by senior teachers who help to build a sense of belonging and the feel of being part of a big family.
Boarding at Marlborough provides academic support, unparalleled recreational activities at weekends and in the evenings, leadership opportunities, friendships that last for a lifetime as well as a carefully guided path towards the confidence and independence that all young people need to move towards university.
Outside of the classroom, boarding offers pupils the unique opportunity to discover and develop their natural talents by enjoying the full range of world-class facilities on campus at every available opportunity, whether this is swimming in the Olympic pool, rehearsing in our music facility, kayaking on the school lake or going to the library for extra studying. In doing so, our pupils develop into well-rounded individuals who have many passions and hobbies that they are able to take the lead in cultivating.
There are different forms of boarding at MCM with full boarding, weekly boarding or even day boarding providing flexibility for both parents and pupils alike. There are times when work, family, and other commitments may cause logistical difficulties. The flexibility of boarding enables pupils to make the most of extra-curricular activities, structured revision sessions with specialised teachers on hand, or spending time with their friends all within a framework that suits the individual family.
MCM pupils have a record of exceptional success in achieving places at some of the world’s leading universities, mainly in the UK, but also in the USA, Canada, Australia or elsewhere.
The most popular universities for our pupils are Imperial College London, King’s College London, London School of Economics and Political Science, University College London and the University of Edinburgh, but all of the leading Russell Group universities, including Oxford and Cambridge, currently have alumni from Marlborough College Malaysia, as do many of the Ivy League universities in the US.
Our 2022 cohort have once again excelled and will attend world-leading courses such as Medicine, Law, and Engineering. Pupils will study over 30 different courses in 6 countries, many at institutions that are in the World Top 100. Many will study core subjects such as English and Science, while others have chosen a business route in Finance or Business Management. NUS, ranked in the World Top 10 for business, will welcome MCM alumni this year. Additionally, 100% of our pupils who applied for law and medicine were also accepted into top courses, with places accepted at Durham University (ranked 5th in the UK for Law) and the University of Birmingham (ranked 12th in the UK for medicine).
We wish our leavers luck at university and hope to see them again at Marlburian Club events in the future.
Read more about MCM’s university success here.

Lining the wall in the hallway that connects our elementary and middle school are several dozen life-size images of students and educators. Each image contains an expressive portrait of a unique individual surrounded by important pieces of their identity. The collection of images captures the diversity and uniqueness of our community members and highlights our shared identity as Eagles.
Singapore American School is no different from these portraits. Our school is made up of a collection of unique attributes that differentiate us from our peers. I often get asked to try to make sense of the intersection and at times points of friction of these different aspects of our identity, and how they all come together to make a strong whole. So, how do these elements of who we are – non-selective, non-profit, American, international, independent – all come together?
Non-Selective
We do not screen for academic level in admitting students to our school. One of the great advantages of being non-selective is that we are able to welcome a diverse range of learners to our community and better serve more families.
Non-Profit
As a non-profit organization, we ensure that 100 percent of the money paid in tuition and fees goes directly into the student experience. We are never put in the position in challenging times of choosing between the interests of our students versus those of any shareholders.
American
From our founding, our mission has been to “provide an exemplary American education with an international perspective.” We aim to provide our students with the best in the American educational tradition (recognizing that many of these attributes are in no way unique to the United States): a focus on critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, character development, and a deep belief in and respect for the potential of every individual regardless of background or identity. It means a focus on the whole child – an emphasis not just on academics but also social-emotional growth and a belief that learning should be just as vibrant in our co-curricular activities as in our classrooms.
International With students from over 60 different countries, we are able to celebrate a wide breadth of cultures and create richer learning experiences for our students. Approximately half our students are US passport holders and half are from the rest of the world. This diversity of background, culture, and beliefs is one of our greatest strengths, and we are fortunate to be located in such a vibrant, diverse, and culturally rich home city of Singapore.
Independent Being an independent school means we have the flexibility to look at best practices from around the world and empower our educators to innovate. With no bureaucratic red tape, we can put all our energies into focusing on the needs of our students and finding better ways to meet those needs. It also means that we have access to impressive resources, attract top-quality educators, and offer a range of programs that are not possible in many other schools.

Aisha Oravec Parent“When we moved to Singapore our children were in elementary school and pre-school. At that age the quality of the teacher is particularly important, we looked carefully at the satisfaction and reputation of the teachers in the schools we considered. We were looking for a program that provides an American-style education, but takes advantage of Singapore’s global population.
Our children came from a very intimate progressive IB school in Mumbai and we were a little overwhelmed by the size of international schools in Singapore. We looked for a school culture that would make our kids feel all the support of an intimate program with access to the many resources that a larger school provides. We also talked to parents with children at the schools we considered to make sure we would find ourselves in a supportive and welcoming community
SAS has exceeded our expectations in many ways. Each division is tailored to the needs of its age group and challenges our children to grow as independent, capable learners. As expected, we have had wonderful experienced, and happy teachers for our children at every level.
The school has demonstrated a strong growth mindset, regularly asking for feedback and adapting to consistently improve the student experience. The new superintendent has brought the community together and set a path forward that is exciting to be a part of. SAS does a wonderful job of ensuring new kids feel welcome, integrate quickly and the school prioritizes social-emotional and character development alongside academics.
Our family was welcomed into the community and the school has become a central part of our Singapore experience. We didn’t set out to look for a Chinese immersion program for our younger kids, but after seeing it in action we have been very impressed with the program. It has been amazing to see our first-grader read chapter books in Mandarin and write her own realistic fiction series using Chinese characters.”

As school superintendent and a father of three Stamford students, I stand proud of the quality of education and amazing care for students that we provide as one of the top international schools in Singapore. At the core, we are a school that cares deeply about the success of every student and finds ways to connect students with their passion. “Academic excellence” and “a deep sense of belonging” drive us every day. We are an International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) school with the belief that creativity, student ownership of learning and hands-on projects create unique opportunities to thrive. At Stamford American you will find:
• A focus on inclusion and a deep sense that every student brings gifts and special characteristics that we want to identify and celebrate
• A deeply caring community of top-rate teaching professionals
• A well-rounded education that prizes performing and visual arts, design, and physical education in addition to the core subject areas
• A world-class facility with a new turf field, tennis courts, swimming pools, bright classrooms, cutting edge performing arts spaces, design studios and more
• A robust after-school program with well-rounded offerings that run the gamut for every age group
• A school where children make friends with classmates representing 75 nationalities
• An Early Learning Village that implements research-based “best practices” in helping our early learners grow, develop relationships, and feel valued
We prioritize well-being at our school, and our staff really go the extra mile to support children and families. We do this through personalized learning, an advisory program, counseling, athletics/clubs, and pastoral care across all divisions.
We also take pride in our academic success. We achieved a 98 percent passing rate for our IB Diploma Programme students in 2022, with many students achieving top scores. Our passing rate on AP tests was 90 percent. And 95 percent of our high school seniors report getting into one of their Top 2 choices for college. Stamford is a school where students achieve their potential and find a pathway that inspires them after high school.
Come see what we have to offer. You’ll find a school that lives its values -- compassion, integrity, ingenuity, and courage -- and where students find a place that honors them for who they are and helps them imagine the possibilities.
We’d love to welcome you to our community.
Dr. Mark Wenzel SuperintendentMy teachers were stellar, they were always willing to take the time to help me succeed, even if it was not during class time. An example that comes to mind would be my DP Chemistry class, where I approached my teacher before the final IB exams to ask for help on a topic, and he went above and beyond, teaching me content one-on-one during his lunchtime and making sure I understood it fully. I also feel like the personal attention given to each student is one of the most unique characteristics of SAIS. Everyone has their own interests and goals, and the faculty and academic counselling team worked with each of us personally to create a pathway that fit our needs, giving all the students the strong foundation we need to enter our future confident that we will succeed.
Natasha Tjeng, Curriculum pathway: AP Class of 2022 graduate
Academically, Stamford has provided me with a strong foundation with all the right toolset of skills necessary for my future endeavours and studies. The option of multiple pathways was the main thing that drove me to SAIS. Being that IB is a globally recognised diploma, I wanted to have the flexibility to easily apply to various countries’ universities. All of the reasoning that I have considered towards choosing my university is in part due to the wonderful team of teachers I have at Stamford, the thinking process that they have ingrained in me from a younger age and finally the support they gave me in G12, especially my college counsellor. The attention and dedication that teachers at Stamford give to students allow the perfect tailoring of the learning experience to the student.
Gia Nguyen, Curriculum pathway: IB Class of 2022 graduate
I’ve grown tremendously as a person in the three years I spent at Stamford. I met some lifelong friends and collected plenty of teaching moments and experiences. I’ve also managed to find and focus on my passion for the design as a career prospect, -
hence performed better academically as I went through the journey.
Jaithra Mallipeddi, Curriculum pathway: BTEC Class of 2022 graduate
The Early Learning Village’s curriculum is specially designed for young learners following the Reggio-Emilia approach and has a play-based, child-led and hands-on learning environment. The teacher will follow Elias’s interest and expand on it in the classroom; this gives him the chance to take ownership of his own learning. Elias’ social-emotional skills have flourished under the guidance of his teacher in just a few short months; he loves his school and is happy and excited to go to school every morning. The teachers and support staff have gone above and beyond in caring about the students’ wellbeing. The ELV has an incredibly amazing student support team that has really helped address my child’s developmental and social-emotional needs.
Mina Kaye SAIS ParentBoth our children are currently enrolled at SAIS; we’ve had a great experience at SAIS overall. The kids have been involved in various CCAs, sports, music lessons (piano, guitar, choir) and clubs since they arrived. Carson has been in the bilingual Mandarin programme since Pre-K, and we have enjoyed the close-knit nature of that group. Calla plays on the SAIS U19 Girls basketball team, an activity she really enjoys. We have also been involved in the school as parents, including on the PTA board, helping to organise social events, and providing some teaching assistance in the music department. We really enjoy being a part of the community at Stamford and feel happy our kids are at this school.
Janine Pentzien SAIS ParentBELONGING LEADS TO SUCCESS
At Stamford, we believe in the power of belonging. A student's sense of belonging relates to the feeling of acceptance and connection with fellow students, teachers, and the school community.
Recent research makes it crystal clear that belonging is a vital ingredient for learning.
In every learning environment, students pick up on cues and signals about their belonging. When these messages support students’ belonging, they can learn freely. When these messages make students feel physically or emotionally unsafe, or cause students to question their belonging, their cognitive resources are diverted away from learning (Healey & Stroman, 2021).
At Stamford, developing this sense of belonging is a key part of our strategic plan. We emphasize it throughout the school – in classroom projects where students draw on family history and cultural traditions; in morning meetings and advisory where students tell stories, listen to one another and reflect on values; and in school activities where
students display their passions and talents.
In high school, students choose a pathway to shape their learning journey that best suits their needs. These include the IB Diploma Programme, Advanced Placement classes, and the Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) Diploma program to hone students’ skills in the industry of their choice. We find that the ability to choose a pathway gives students voice and increases their sense of belonging.
The “secret sauce” of belonging is teaching faculty and coaches who strive every day to deepen relationships with students, as well as a school culture that celebrates everyone’s participation. Our teachers meet students where they are to help them grow physically, emotionally, and academically.
“It’s exciting to see the long-term growth in both performance and participation in these programs, and I’m grateful to the teachers and coordinators for their excellent efforts,” said Dr. Mark Wenzel, Superintendent.
“I've grown tremendously as a person in the three years I spent at Stamford. I've also managed to find and focus on my passion for design as a career prospect, and hence performed better academically as I went through the journey,” said Jaithra Mallipeddi, a recent BTEC graduate, who will be attending Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, BC, Canada, majoring in Industrial Design.
Philip Petersson Walden agreed and added his compliments to the teaching faculty. “My teachers pushed me to be more hard-working, to challenge myself in different areas in life, and to think critically.” He was from the IB pathway and will be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics.
“I feel like the personal attention given to each student is one of the most unique characteristics of SAIS. Everyone has their own interests and goals, and
the faculty and academic counselling team worked with each of us personally to create a pathway that fit our needs.”
Natasha Tjeng, who was from the AP pathway, shared her experiences, and will continue to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Biology at the University of California, Berkeley.
Stamford is a special place where ‘belonging’ defines us. We believe in the dignity of every student who passes through our gates, and we commit our all to help each one develop a deep sense of connection and purpose.

As the only school in Singapore to offer the choice of A Levels or the IB Diploma in Sixth Form, Tanglin Trust School students can thrive and flourish by studying the programme that most suits them; either the specialist study of three to four subjects or a broad and balanced programme of six subjects.
Our students’ examination results are outstanding, consistently surpassing Singapore and global averages, with 95% of graduates typically receiving their first or second choice university, which are among the best in the world. But that’s not the full story.
Going to school is also about developing a community of lifelong learners, whether it be through sports, the arts, outdoor education or the multitude of other opportunities students embrace. With the support of our dedicated and experienced staff, everyone gets a chance to find their passion, to be part of our dynamic community, and to achieve their personal best.
Visit www.tts.edu.sg
Tanglin parents often speak of how they value the school’s holistic approach: the pursuit of academic achievement balanced with co-curriculum activities and a supportive, nurturing community.
Our school has a long history, defined by generations of excellence across numerous fields. Such a heritage can only be reinforced by continually moving forward; with each individual aspiring to achieve their personal best while supporting other members of Team Tanglin. We believe it is this intimate, collaborative culture that has enabled our community to thrive.
Our recent awards are testament to this; in April 2022, we were listed as Singapore’s Top 10 Best Employers by the Straits Times and Statista. We also topped the education category nationwide. In May 2022, we were awarded Best School for a UK Pathway and Best Post-16 Education by WhichSchoolAdvisor Singapore.
As we celebrate our 97th Anniversary, we are looking forward to the opening of the Tanglin Centenary Building later this academic year. The building will house multiple facilities to benefit the community, including a new gymnastics centre, a 50m Olympic length pool that is sheltered, and even a viewing gallery so parents can watch their children train. As a first for an international school in Singapore, a new co-working space has also been built for parents while they wait for their children. The Institute@Tanglin will also be housed there to offer extensive learning through partnerships.
Tanglin’s aim has always been to develop well-rounded individuals who will flourish and make a positive contribution to the world. Hence, the importance of our ethos: ‘a can-do attitude that focuses on developing reflective, resilient individuals with a growth mindset’.
While our results, featured here, show how outstanding our students are academically, we are most proud of the fact that our alumni are good people: global citizens who are well-placed for the challenges of higher-education and the wider world.

PARENTS TESTIMONIAL
Hong Nguyen | Parent to Isaac, Year 8 student
“My family relocated to Singapore in early 2021. Our son, Isaac was 11 years old, mid-way through Year 5 in Sydney, Australia. As every parent would do, we did a lot of research and Tanglin consistently came out on top when we spoke with other parents. These recommendations have not been wrong and we have been extremely happy with Isaac’s transition. The best part of the school experience for Isaac has been the friendships that he has forged within a short space of time. We have been particularly impressed with the quality of the teachers, who have motivated Isaac’s interest in learning. The values of the school also allowed Isaac to be himself, to express his own individuality and we look forward to seeing him grow at Tanglin.”
Hannah Richardson | Parent to Ella, Reception
“Having a sense of community and belonging for our daughter was and is very important to us. Tanglin achieved this through the allocation of the House system, which will stay with her throughout her entire school life in Tanglin, from Infant School to Senior School. The school will also ensure that Ella’s little sister have the same House allocation, so our family will forever be Team Cameron! We love how this connects the children of all ages. Ella knows she is part of something important and can find fellowship with other students throughout the school. What we also like about Tanglin is that the school follows the British curriculum and provides a diverse range of co-curricular activities in a nurturing environment, with access to extraordinary facilities that would broaden Ella’s horizons. As a Mum, I really value the fact that Ella begins her school life knowing that she can see everything, explore everything and one day become anything she wants to be.”
Vicki and Charlie Mansour | Parents to Barnaby (Year 7), Tabitha (Year 6) and India (Year 3)
When we found out about our relocation from Hong Kong to Singapore, the first thing we researched were the schools. The children were at Kellett, a British International School in Hong Kong and they had been very happy there. Prior to that, we were in London, so we knew that we wanted to continue in the British education system.
Although there were a number of schools to choose from in Singapore within the British system, we required a co-educational school that spanned both Junior and Senior levels. Tanglin stood out from the start. We did a virtual tour and were blown away with the facilities and the opportunities that the children could gain at Tanglin. We felt that they would find all aspects of Tanglin that they could enjoy and excel at. The children settled in from day one and are really enjoying their time in school. Barnaby started doing Latin, French and Spanish and is thoroughly enjoying the Tanglin language programme. The children have also been enjoying co-curricular activities such as Basketball, Rugby, Rock Climbing, Masterchef, Netball, Tanglin Merlions swim training, gymnastics and Animation Club, to name a few. As a family, we are very happy our choice, and we believe it can only get better!
STUDENTS TESTIMONIAL
Matthew | Head Boy 2021-22
“When my parents moved to Singapore from New Zealand due to my dad’s job, and they decided to send us to Tanglin. My parents liked the fact that Tanglin offers the option of A Levels or International Baccalaureate, and I chose to take A Levels. The subjects I took were Physics, Maths, Economics and Biology. I chose this combination because I enjoyed them and wanted to have the pathway open for Medicine if I decided to pursue it.
My teachers and parents encouraged me to participate in activities outside of my core academic curriculum. Hence, when I was in Senior School, I had been an active participant in the World Scholars Cup. A group of my friends and I chanced upon the opportunity in NAQT (National Academic Quiz Tournament) and we decided to start practicing and co-founded NAQT at Tanglin. I am proud to say that we made it to the top 50 globally. I also played Rugby within and outside of School and was appointed Pastoral Prefect in addition to being Head Boy. I am looking forward to pursuing my undergraduate studies at Brown now that I have graduated. Tanglin will always be special to me.”
Maia | Head Girl 2021-22
“Prior to Tanglin, I wasn’t the type to put my hand up to ask for help. This changed when I started school at Tanglin. Getting involved in class and asking for help was always encouraged by my teachers and this positive culture at Tanglin has increased my confidence greatly.
In Year 12, I joined the United Nations’s Equality Project, where we split into small groups and chose one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals to improve. Normally, this would be an external community service project. However, due to COVID, we had to adapt to the circumstances and work on improving something within the school.
My group chose Goal Number 12, “Responsible Consumption and Production”. We decided to start selling reusable coffee cups at the cafe to reduce single-use plastic and we spoke to the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Head of Food Services at Tanglin to organise this initiative and provide general feedback regarding the sustainability of food at Tanglin. I am very grateful for the supportive community at Tanglin. I will be moving to the US for further studies at UCLA and I will always treasure the experience and friendships I’d made here.”
Ryan | Head Boy 2019-20“My time at Tanglin has been full of wonderful experiences and opportunities, while the friendships and bonds I have made will stand me in good stead for the future. My Senior School experience has included sports and debating competitions, drama performances and, of course, leadership responsibilities. I’m most grateful for the opportunity to work with the larger Tanglin community – management, parents, staff and my fellow peers - as part of the Head Team to help our wonderful community grow, even in challenging circumstances. I leave Tanglin excited for the future and thankful for all I’ve learnt and witnessed, both inside and outside of the classroom.”

As one of the top IB schools offering the PYP, MYP and DP curriculum, Chatsworth provides each student with a challenging academic experience. Our programme couples traditional teaching and learning practices with 21st Century learning skills to create an individualised and balanced education for every student.
Chatsworth’s teaching staff are dedicated, highly qualified and come from all over the globe. With a diverse teaching staff from over 20 nationalities, we ensure that our curriculu incorporates the best of what the world has to offer. With a student body of more than 50 nationalities, we are a truly international school. We are honoured to be awarded winner of the Best IB School Award and highly commended in the Best School for the Arts Award in the WhichSchoolAdvisor (Singapore) Best Schools Awards 2022.
Our small class sizes allow students to be heard and express themselves, gain confidence, and be recognised for their individual talents. Critical and global thinking skills are nurtured in the context of an international community. Our overall Schoolwide Learner Outcomes (SLOs) state that Chatsworth Learners are: Principled, Balanced, Global Communicators and Thinkers. We say ‘Chatsworth learners’ because this includes everyone within our community, including staff and parents.
I consider myself privileged to serve as Head of School here at Chatsworth, with our strong reputation for community, pastoral care and holistic education. I encourage you to visit our school, interact with our community and experience, first-hand, why we have students graduate every year who joined us in early years, why we consistently receive full accreditation cycles from WASC, the IBO and EduTrust, and why I, and many staff, have remained here at Chatsworth for well over a decade.
Dr. Tyler Sherwood Head of School“If you are looking for a smaller school where teachers actually “know” your children and are really willing to go the extra mile, then Chatsworth could be the school for you. From an English teacher giving that ‘over-and-above’ guidance to my daughter for College choices, friendly admission staff or a basketball coach willing to put in after-hours practice with my son, Chatsworth has a very inspirational element to it that is hard to find anywhere!
- Sarah Ameer, Parent of 2 Chatsworth students
“Both the boys give Chatsworth a big thumbs up for the atmosphere. The ability to socialise, meet each other at break times. One of the standout advantages for me is the attention given by the teachers. The kids are not lost in a vast system, but are each able to receive the engagement and support they need, when they need it. Sometimes this is lost in schools with 1000’s of students and large class sizes.
- Robert Lyons, Parent of 2 Chatsworth students
“ Chatsworth has always felt like home to me. I grew up here and till this day still see people I first saw in Y4. That is why I love the community. Our small school means having friends all around and getting to really know everyone. I also love the inclusivity of different passions, hobbies, nationalities and more.
- Rotem Veinstein, Year 10 student (2021-22)
“The IB programme offered a really holistic learning experience for me. I credit my comfort with public speaking and a lot of soft skills to doing Drama at IB - enabling me to explore my individual creative expression, whilst also improving my self-expression. The Theory of Knowledge played a really special role in my educational experience, as it enabled me to reflect on the nature of knowledge, and on how we know what we claim to know - the learnings of which I still carry and reflect on today.

EtonHouse Sentosa is blessed to be surrounded by the island’s lush greenery and wildlife. This is the perfect setting for our nature programme and island explorations. We develop empathy and connections with the great outdoors right from our toddler classes, nurturing confidence and risk-taking opportunities in every outdoor encounter! We are renowned for our warm boutique atmosphere and innovative approach. Families often say they ‘feel at home’ with us as every teacher and child knows one another.
-- Lisamarie Hughes, Principal of EtonHouse International School, Sentosa
Set in the most beautiful of locations, EtonHouse Thomson is very fortunate to have an array of interesting and interactive spaces, including a forest school area and various indoor and outdoor spaces. Throughout the school we make the most of our incredible environment by giving children opportunities to explore and inquire, developing their creativity and critical thinking skills. As a community school, we offer many opportunities for students, parents and staff to forge good relationships.
-- Luna Deller, Principal of EtonHouse International School, Thomson
“The EtonHouse community is one that supports each other to learn as much as possible and help each other in every endeavour they decide to undertake. I have access to teachers whenever I need them, and they have always been happy to help, even outside school hours.” - Mael, EtonHouse Orchard IB Diploma graduate
“We saw a big change in R. From a shy girl, she’s blossomed into a cheerful and confident lady. She has developed great communication skills and a passion for learning, and is also engaged in many different activities like study, music and sports. I’d like to thank EtonHouse for engaging my child so wonderfully and inspiring her to become a doctor and pursue Medicine in the UK.” - Sachdev Family
“My daughter has blossomed since she joined the school in Year one. She has developed a strong sense of self, and she has become much more independent and confident. She has built wonderful relationships with her teachers and peers. School life has encouraged and developed her innate curiosity and wonder.” – Santos Family
“Everyone at school knows J’s name. Every single interaction is a personal one. It is an incredibly warm & welcoming environment that makes children feel safe, secure & confident. This sense of connection and belonging, for our child, is really important to us as expats. The inquiry-based approach is perfect for curious, active minds. It is so natural, that the children develop a love for learning, and J comes home bursting with enthusiasm for the topics he has been exploring at school. The investment in emotional intelligence also stands out from manners to managing big feelings to a four-year-old role modelling social justice! Preschools often get stereotyped as “play” but EtonHouse has articulated a carefully crafted curriculum and it shows.”

Dear Prospective Parents and Students,
The NLCS (Singapore) story began over 160 years ago, when educational pioneer Frances Mary Buss first opened NLCS in London. Ever since that day, the NLCS programme has been synonymous with excellence, ambition and aspiration. NLCS (Singapore) draws on that rich history and tradition to provide our students with an inspirational and life-changing educational experience that will ensure they become successful, well-rounded, and compassionate humanbeings.
NLCS produces scholars and critical thinkers. Individuals who have the ability and drive to bring positive change to the world around them, thanks to the “NLCS DNA” that is instilled within each one of them. This NLCS spirit is nurtured through exposing our students to opportunities which challenge them intellectually, physically and emotionally, on a day-to-day basis. The NLCS (Singapore) experience holds the traditions and values of our founders dear, and applies them in our exciting, international, dynamic, global environment.
Outstanding pastoral care that focuses on the needs of each individual, and commits that no child will ever feel unsupported in our school, lies at the heart of everything that we do. Making decisions about your child’s schooling can be extremely challenging for parents, and we encourage you to meet with us, so that you can see for yourself what makes the NLCS ethos so unique and exciting. We’re quite sure that you too will become inspired at what we have to offer.

M Cabasug (Parent)“We are an American family of three children in Grade 7, 8 and 9 and my children absolutely love going to North London Collegiate School. In their short time they have improved so much academically. I have seensuch a huge positive shi_ in their attitude towards academics and responsibility because of the encouragement of their teachers. The teachers are very responsive, accessible and helpful in pointing out how your child can improve.”
A and M Jeffrey (Parents)“The facilities and the line-up of CCAs is impressive. We were surprised to learn the CCAs are no extra cost and to see even tennis as an option for seven-year-olds. Overall, everyone at the school seems highly professional and dedicated to providing a high-quality education for the children. The children enjoy school and the location is great for us. This means that our children spend less time travelling to and from school and have more time to rest and play which is very important for us. NLCS (Singapore) is really a wonderful school; we couldn’t be happier and we would recommend it to.
A Thapar (Parent)“It is apparent that my children are being pushed and challenged by their teachers to do more and be more, and as a result, I have seen a noticeable shift from my children in their own engagement with their learning experiences. We are having a wide variety of rich dinner time conversations at home based on their learnings, ranging from Charles Darwin and the theory of Evolution, to Human Rights and their applicability to racial injustice, and awareness and management of emotions. Overall, the ethos of the school has shone through from our very first day. I am incredibly impressed by the passion and care of the teachers, the innovative and engaging approach to learning, and the foundation of excellence that has been instilled in every aspect of school life.”anyone.”
