THE GOOD. THE BAD. THE LOVELY I will be the first to say that being a mom is hard. Throughout the years, and even now and then, I catch myself thinking… “Am I a good mom? Could I have done more when they were little?” When I find myself in this place, I pause, take a deep breath, and reflect on the good that I have done. I choose to remember the positive moments. I haven’t done everything right, but I find comfort in knowing that along the way when I knew better, I did better. For those of you who have little ones, I’ve been there…I know you are tired, and with years of perspective, know this; I wish I would have played more and worried less about all the mess. What I wouldn’t do for messy little fingerprints all over my sliding glass door. Those days are gone and the challenges have changed, but one thing remains the same, I am grateful for this family of mine. Although motherhood is challenging, it has been the biggest blessing and crowning achievement of my life. Remember this…you are so much better and so much stronger than you think. Let go of past regrets and strive to be present with your family each day! To my Mom, thank you for teaching me compassion for my fellow man and that I could do anything I set my mind to. To all of you women out there…whether you are “like a mom,” your babies are tiny, grown or full of fur....You deserve to be celebrated. Happy Mother’s Day!

I’LL ALWAYS REMEMBER “My grandma, Maxine, is one of my favorite people. She taught me how to play piano. She is kind, beautiful and musically talented. This picture was taken in 2011. We laughed reminiscing, and she patted me on the leg and said, 'I don’t know who you are, but I sure do like you.' She has Alzheimer’s and is now in an assisted living home. The local paper featured her in an article about her ability to uplift the residents with her music. Alzheimer’s may have stolen her memory, but her talents will live long.”
