CASE STUDIES . RESIDENTIAL PROJECT . 22M2 APARTMENT

LOCATION: TAIPEI, TAIWAN ARCHITECTS: A LITTLE DESIGN YEARS: 2015 AREA: 236.8 ft2 Respond to local area / history / regional characteristics: The space responds to the local area because Taipei is a city with large population living. This project has only 236 ft2 but it includes everything, kitchen, multifunction area, and a fancy bathroom. Respond to social norms / cultural identity / demographic served: The house price in Taipei is pretty expensive, so I think this project is good for the newly married couples. The small space with the lower price and the function of this space is enough for the newly married couples. Design succeed: This space design succeeds in the reflecting the theories of human behavior. Kitchen and bathroom are in the separate area of the main space, and the desk at first floor is moveable, so it can easily change the direction and function. The windows in the project also make the space lighter and bring the natural light into the space. There are also a lot of storage in this small space. Improvement: The space on the second floor is really hard for people that who is taller than 6 feet and disability. The space is also hard for more than two people to use. I think maybe we could relocate bed to the ground floor and make it easy to hide in the storage, it will be flexible for disability or tall people to use.

CASE STUDIES . RESTAURANT PROJECT . T.LOFT EXPERIENCE MUSEUM / CM DESIGN

LOCATION: SHENZHEN, CHINA ARCHITECTS: CM DESIGN YEARS: 2016 AREA: 2088 ft2 Respond to local area / history / regional characteristics: The project is in Shenzhen, there are many people gather at the “Huan Qing Cultural Square” and upgrade of exciting commercial street shop. This project maximize the display of interior space, not only broke the element form in the shop, but also create a key node which can extend the interior space to the outside plaza. Respond to social norms / cultural identity / demographic served: The project doesn’t really respond the cultural identity of the user demographic served, but it use the bold colors in the space, create attention and visual balance. Design succeed: The project design really succeeds in the reflecting the theories of human behavior. The first floor is public area and open reception area, for dining, lectures, film screening and other diverse types of space. Secondfloor space is for separate booth, games room, studio and independent space to provide a multi function space for a different kind of demand. Improvement: The independent space at second floor could add a sliding door for more privacy. There can also add another bathroom on the first floor because the seats at first floor are more than the second floor, and people in public area would be more than the second floor.

CASE STUDIES . OFFICE PROJECT . NERI&HU DESIGN AND RESEARCH OFFICE

LOCATION: BEIJING, CHINA ARCHITECTS: Neri&Hu Design and Research Office YEARS: UNKNOWN AREA: 28847.28 ft2 Respond to local area / history / regional characteristics: The project responds to the local area because it keeps the space for the original parking space, and use a lot of existing material. Respond to social norms / cultural identity / demographic served: There are 26 million inhabitants and 7 million vehicles in Beijing. Neri & Hu renew the architecture and the interior design of an automobile service center, they try to keep the allure and magic that was once associated with cars. The industry style in this project is related to the existing material and the parking function. Design succeed: The project succeeds in the reflecting the theories of human behavior. There is the cafe area on the first floor, it can be a waiting area. The private office next to the open office at the second floor, so the supervisor can easily control the situation in the private office. There is another big meeting room in this project, it could have large amounts of people in the room. Improvement: The private office is next to the open office and there is no privacy, such as no curtains and no acoustic materials. The lighting design in the private office is not enough, only a few recessed lights on the ceiling. Add some task lights would improve the space.

CONCEPT

MOOD BOARD . DESIGN SKETCHES . PEACE & UNITED .

My concept of this whole project is peace/united. I hope people can feel relax and calm when they enter the center. I want to create a space that they can feel like home in the center. In this center area, white and blue color can create a peaceful feeling. In the space planning, circular furnishings also create the group and reunion feeling. Circular skylights can create the shadow and the contrast of the natural light, it also creates the focal point in the space, and the light will be different between the daytime.
