Rhyme after Rhyme The beginnings of Grumptys previous personality of ‘Humpty’ who was a nice and happy young egg until that fateful day he fell of the wall. I’m trying to exaggerate the gooey expressions to really make the contrast between the two characters apparent.

Rhyme after Rhyme At this point I was really struggling on how to master the final artworks, the pencil scans just didn’t seem tidy enough. So I traced over the pencil scan in photoshop, I was desperate! The result while interesting and not technically bad doesn’t fit the tone I’m trying to achieve of quick but well drawn pictures. I’m very aware of Fred’s advice not to ‘kill it with photoshop’

Rhyme after Rhyme So just as I was about to pull my hair out two things happened very quickly, first i pulled out some extra smooth heavy cartridge paper and my 3B pencil and draw the above, the paper smoothness made a real difference as opposed to the slight tooth of my sketchbook and the 3B was a little easier to control as it wasn’t as soft so it gave a sharp quick line! I then went to scan it in and thought why don’t I up the resolution and scanned in at 600dpi which worked a treat!
