STUDIO PRACTICE Statement of Intent Name Blog Address http://o-‐conlon1316sp.blogspot.co.uk/ Orlaith Conlon Date 19/10/15 Rationale I felt like I have refined my working practice and do work faster and more efficiently then I did last year. Tone of voice has been something I am always striving to hone and I do feel as though the two areas of my practice (shape vs line) are closer to meeting. The briefs I have worked on have been very self-‐directed and I feel like in this last year of education I really wanted to give that time over to develop my drawing skills as this is what is most important to me as a practitioner. The fun and charm of my drawings has therefore been able to flourish without the restriction of client briefs however I am aware that this means I lack on these skills at this moment in time but it feels like a worthy sacrifice when I have so much more confidence in the abilities which make me unique as a creative person. Brief 1:

Rhyme after Rhyme-‐ Character & Narrative

Deadline

End of Module

Rationale:

What happens to our favourite nursery rhyme characters after the nursery rhyme? This project uses this as a catalyst to investigate drawing process along with character & narrative. Brief 2: Deadline End of Module Female Form Rationale: This brief has expanded from my one a week female form pose into a collection of prints and the opportunity to exhibit these outcomes with members of the creative community.

Brief 3: Secret 7

Deadline

End of Module

The competition brief expanded into seven album covers for secret 7. This brief challenged me to think conceptually and to work in a restricted layout.

Brief 4: Bloop Group

Deadline

Weekly Deadline

Rationale:

This was an unexpected addition to my briefs, and took a lot of hard work and planning to pay off but was one of the most rewarding briefs. Along with creating the pitch boards, I also created our branding. Deadline Additional Project Proposals SB5: Safari Cards Sb6: Little briefs
