The show must go on! That's what Jack and Annie learn when the Magic Tree House whisks them back to Elizabethan England. There they meet William Shakespeare himself—one of the greatest writers of all time! Can Jack and Annie light Shakespeare's creative spark? A perfect opportunity to break through the language barrier and introduce your students to Shakespeare through hip-hop.

Book and Lyrics by Judith Viorst | Music by Shelly Markham

Alexander is having a bad day. A terrible day. A horrible day. To be quite honest, it’s a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. But then, everybody has bad days, sometimes. In this delightful adaptation of her popular book, Judith Viorst sets Alexander’s rather trying life to music and brings to the stage one of America’s feistiest characters. Alexander’s struggles with life’s daily dramas will not only entertain, but educate young audiences as they identify with Alexander and the obstacles he encounters, encouraging them to share their feelings and to realize that bad days happen to everyone.

Magic Tree House Alive

Recommended: 2nd - 4th Grade Fee: $155 per class (25 students); $500 for 4 classes During this interactive workshop, Orlando Shakespeare Theater’s Actor/Educators encourage your students to act as authors and create story ideas for their own Magic Tree House Adventure. Through interactive games and theater exercises, students work in groups to pick a historical central character, time period, and magical object, creating a “snapshot” of story elements using their own bodies as statues. Students are introduced to the theater artist roles of director, stage manager, and actor. Follow-up activities include writing letters to author Mary Pope Osborne explaining their story suggestions, and designing book covers based on their ideas.
