1m³ = 1000 litres Therefore 0.5m³ = 500 litres, 0.35m³ = 350 litres and 1.25m³ = 1250 litres Volume of a Cube = w x d x h Coverage for sealants (LM per pack) = pack size in ml / width of joint / depth of joint Example: 600 ml sausage in a 10 mm wide x 10 mm deep joint = 600 / 10 /10 = 6 LM per sausage Therefore: 600 ml of Corroseal 25 LM / 10 / 10 = 6 linear meters per sausage Example 2: Corroseal PS 749 for a 25 mm x 20 mm joint = 2500 / 25 / 20 = 5 LM per tin Volume required for a joint = width in m x depth in m x length in m x 1000 Example: volume required for a 20 mm wide x 10 mm deep x 50 LM long joint = width in m x depth in m x length in m x 1000 Therefore 0.02 x 0.01 x 50 x 1000 = 10 litres Joint design Min width of joint = M x 100 + M MAF where: M = the expected movement in mm MAF = the movement accomodation factor of the proposed sealant (expressed as a total %) Movement expected = length in mm x Co-efficient of thermal expansion x temperature range in °C Example: the movement expected for a 6 m length of concrete = length in mm x CoE for concrete (12 x 10‾6) x temp range i.e. 10 to 60 °C = 6000 x 0.000012 x 50 = 3.6 mm Coating thicknesses Wet film thickness (WFT) = Dry film thickness (DFT) required x 100 % solids by volume % volume solids = DFT WFT Coverage rate (m² per litre) = % solids by volume x 10 Dry film thickness (DFT)
