The production area has different geological and climatic reversed. The nexus is the middle basin of the Segre river, between the Pyrenees and the Ebro river, and the indoor dry climate, away from the maritime influence and marked by high sunshine, low rainfall and a persistent humidity from the mists of winter. The vineyards are located between 200 and 400 m altitude. The chalky soil is covered with sand, with a great uniformity across the designation.

La Mancha is a vast flat expanse of land, without great heights and land with a beautiful red fruit of Miocene sediments of limestone structure. Our region has a long tradition of wine, which added to the combination of different natural features make us produce excellent grapes to give life to a great wine, with very peculiar nuances. You could say that La Mancha is the ideal area for growing grapes, getting a fruit of extraordinary quality, maturity and health.

A key characteristic of the D.O. Navarra area is the extraordinary diversity of its climate and landscape which spread across more than 100 kilometers lying between the area around Pamplona in the north and the Ebro river plain to the south. The fact is that Navarra enjoys an exceptional location, one which is practically unique in the Iberian Peninsula and is marked by the confluence of the Atlantic, Continental and Mediterranean climates. The proximity of the Bay of Biscay, the influence of the Pyrenees and the temperate influence of the Ebro valley are all key factors in giving Navarra its unique range different climates.

The land and the vineyards know neither geographical nor political divisions. The Penedès region is wide and open, covering a long strip of land between the sea and the mountains, half-way between Barcelona and Tarragona. The influence of the sun and the Mediterranean sea make the Penedès a privileged territory for winemaking. In this environment, enjoying the sun in the vineyards, walking through the villages and towns and discovering the great wines of their cellars is a great experience.

One of the traits that sets Rioja Wines apart is their excellent aptitude for ageing, a quality that is exclusive to great wines. Through appropriate ageing,. in which oak wood plays a decisive role, Rioja Wine evolves, its virtues becoming more prominent and acquiring new aromas and flavors. Rioja Wines are aged in 225 liter oak casks, where the wine experiences a slow evolutionary process of microoxygenation and stabilization, and eventually acquires aromas and flavors released by the tannins in the wood. This is the traditional ageing method of great wines, a natural, more costly process than modern proposals of a more "industrial" oenology. The ageing process is completed in the bottle, where the wine continues to evolve in a reducing atmosphere until it reaches its peak. Great wines from historic vintages sleep in bottles for decades in the "sacristies" of the bodegas until they are transformed into true oenological gems. …. continues ……

Rioja wines are elegant, original and have the unmistakable character of great wines, something which is only possible when grape varieties, vine-growing methods and winemaking procedures have been honed over time. Given the diversity in winegrowing offered by the Designation, it has been a traditional practice by the bodegas to blend different grape varieties and wines, from different vineyards and towns, seeking the complementary elements which will intensify their respective properties in the end product. This is undoubtedly the best-known kind of Rioja, although bodegas are increasingly offering a rich variety of styles with wines of high fruit concentration which aim to express the traits of specific vineyards. …. continues ……

With Tempranillo as the main element, Rioja reds are characterized by being very balanced in their alcohol content, color and acidity, by having a body and structure offset perfectly by a gentle and elegant flavor and by being mainly fruity in nature when young and more velvety when aged. These characteristics make Rioja Wines highly versatile when combining with the most varied foods. This, together with the fact that it is a user-friendly, easy-to-drink wine, constitutes one of the keys to its success.

Madrid has an Appellation of Origin of its own, which makes it the only capital in the World to have one bearing its name, since 1990. Despite general belief, the Appellation of Origin is not a mere administrative status, but the recognition of something pre-existing and the desire to protect it. What is sought through the A.O. is recognition and protection under a name that awards the product, in this case wine, with a distinction for its origin and tradition.

According to the regulations of the Regulatory Board, for a wine qualifies for the appellation of origin must contain at least 75% of Tempranillo in drafting. In total, no less than 95% of the grapes must be Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec. The grapes Grenache and Albillo are allowed, but in small quantities. The wines produced and processed in accordance with the rules of the Qualified Designation of Origin Ribera de Duero, and to qualify for the use thereof should undergo and pass a qualification process developed by the Regulatory Board. Each item produced in a given year is subject to a review that includes an instrumental analysis (physical, chemical and biological) and organoleptic analysis.

In 1872 the first bottles of Cava were produced in the town of Sant Sadurní dAnoia following the traditional method of second fermentation in the bottle. Thus, Cava production started and the town became the main capital of Cava. Along the decade of 1920, Cava consolidated into the Spanish market while its international consolidation was reached during the 80s. Today it is one of the most dynamic and successful vitiviniculture sectors, essentially Catalan vitiviniculture, with a total production of about 220,000,000 bottles per year that reach consumers worldwide. The municipality of Sant Sadurní dAnoia is the heart and origin of this region, its driving force. Its spirit lies not merely in an area, a territory, but in the tradition, the style of winemaking, a blind faith in the quality of the product and a keen enthusiasm in disseminating this special beverage … continues …

The properties and characteristics of Cava owe themselves to the soils of the vineyards, the varieties of grape used and the climate. Vine growing stretches from the Mediterranean coastline to the highest areas, at an altitude of approximately 800 m. However, it is in the central areas, at an altitude of 200 to 300 m. where the largest vine growing area is to be found. The climate is Mediterranean, sunny, with mild winters and moderately hot summers. The characteristics above, combined with a moderate rainfall spread throughout the year, create an ideal microclimate for vine growing and the maturation process of the grapes.

Tasting Cava at the right temperature is one of the keys to full enjoyment. Cava must be served between 5潞 C and 8潞 C, the young, light cavas being served the coldest. Cava should be cooled for several hours in the refrigerator or 30 minutes in a recipient with water and ice. The freezer should be avoided as a sudden change in temperature can impair the properties of such a carefully produced product. The glass we choose must allow us to enjoy the color, subtle aroma and size of the bead. We should choose a fine, transparent glass, tulip or flute shaped, avoiding wide glasses which allow the aromas to be released too quickly. Cava is a delicate wine which should be uncorked gently, to avoid any loss of wine and froth. To service, hold the bottle slightly tilted, letting the liquid slide down the wall of the glass, which should never be filled more than 2/3 to prevent the wine from losing its ideal temperature.

Liqueur wines are produced by reprocessing of the juice musts of the grape giving them a higher rank. The sweet wines are perfect as appetizers, paired well with nuts and soft cheese. The generous and sweet wines can also be used in desserts, cakes and chocolates. In the afternoon, a sweet wine with almond cake cut is a delight.
