IRS announces two new online tools to help families manage Child Tax Credit payments

WASHINGTON - The Internal Revenue Service launched two new online tools designed to help families manage and monitor monthly advance payments of the Child Tax Credit under the American Rescue Plan. These two new tools are in addition to the Non-filer Sign-up tool, announced last week, so families who don't normally have to file a tax return can quickly sign up for the Child Tax Credit.
The new Child Tax Credit Eligibility Wizard allows families to answer a series of questions to quickly determine if it is for the credit in advance.
The Child Tax Credit Update Portal allows families to verify their eligibility for payments and, if they wish, cancel enrollment or opt out of monthly payments so they can receive a lump sum when they file their tax return next year. This secure, password-protected tool is available to any eligible family with Internet access and a smartphone or computer. Future versions of the tool planned for the summer and fall will allow people to view their payment history, adjust bank account information or email addresses, and other functions. A Spanish version is also planned.
Both the Child Tax Credit Eligibility Wizard and the Child Tax Credit Update Portal are now available on IRS.gov.
The American Rescue Plan increased the maximum amount of the Child Tax Credit in 2021 to $3,600 per child for children under age 6 and to $3,000 per child for children ages 6 to 17. Advance payments of the Child Tax Credit, generally due on the 15th of each month, create financial certainty for families to plan their budgets. Eligible families will receive a payment of up to $300 per month for each child under age 6, and up to $250 per month for each child ages 6 to 17. On July 15, the first monthly payment of the extended Child Tax Credit will be made. Most families will automatically begin receiving monthly payments the next month with no further action required.
Update portal allows people to unsubscribe
Instead of receiving these payments up front, some families may prefer to wait until the end of the year and receive the full credit as a refund when they file their 2021 return. The Child Tax Credit Update Portal now allows these families to unenroll from monthly payments quickly and easily.
The cancel feature can also be useful for any family that no longer qualifies for the Child Tax Credit or believes they will not qualify when they file their 2021 return. This could happen if, for example:
• Your income in 2021 is too high to qualify for credit. • They lived abroad for most or all of 2021.
Changes to the Child Tax Credit
The American Rescue Plan raised the maximum Child Tax Credit in 2021 to $3,600 for qualifying children under age 6 and to $3,000 per child for qualifying children ages 6 to 17. Before 2021, the credit was worth up to $ 2,000 per eligible qualifying child and 17-year-olds were not considered qualifying children for the credit. The new maximum credit is available to taxpayers with a modified adjusted gross income (AGI) of: • $75,000 or less for single people, • $112,500 or less for heads of household and
• $150,000 or less for married couples filing jointly and for qualified widows and widowers.
For most people, the modified AGI is the amount shown on line 11 of your 2020 Form 1040 or 1040-SR. Above these income thresholds, the additional amount above the original credit of $ 2,000, either $1,000 or $1,600 per child, it is reduced by $ 50 for each additional $1,000 in modified AGI. Plus, all of the credit is fully refundable by 2021. This means eligible families can get it, even if they don't owe federal taxes. Before this year, the refundable portion was limited to $ 1,400 per child.

The renaming supports the City of Orlando’s continued efforts to make the city a more welcoming, inclusive place for all.
The change also aligns with Orange County Public Schools’ recent decision to rename the school on the street from Stonewall Jackson Middle School to Roberto Clemente Middle School. A native of Puerto Rico, Roberto Clemente was a Hall of Fame baseball star and a humanitarian. He passed away in 1972 in a plane crash while bringing supplies to survivors of an earthquake in Nicaragua.

Las tarifas de las estaciones de transferencia aumentan el 1 de julio
St. Cloud, FL - Las tarifas en la estación de transferencia de la Ciudad de St. Cloud aumentarán un 3.6 por ciento a partir del 1 de julio.
El Concejo Municipal aprobó el aumento debido a que aumentó en un 3.6 por ciento, las tarifas que la Ciudad paga en el relleno sanitario.
“El aumento de la tarifa es simplemente un traspaso del aumento que se nos está cobrando”, dijo Kevin Felblinger, director interino de obras públicas de la Ciudad de St. Cloud.

Transfer Station rates increase July 1
St. Cloud, FL - Tipping fees at the City of St. Cloud Transfer Station are increasing 3.6 percent starting July 1.
City Council approved the increase due to the 3.6 percent increase in fees the City pays at the landfill.
“The tipping fee increase is simply a pass-along of the increase we are being charged,” said Kevin Felblinger, Interim Public Works Director for the City of St. Cloud.
Effective July 1, residential drop-off rates at the Transfer Station will be $0.027 per pound, and commercial and non-resident rates will be $0.032 per pound. Residents must show a current city garbage bill from the City of St. Cloud to get the resident rates.
The increase applies only to those who are dropping off items at the Transfer Station; it does not apply to residential or commercial garbage collection.

The home has been rebuilt, and a ribbon cutting was held on Saturday, June 19, at 10 a.m. The City of St. Cloud had a crew there with a fire truck; the fire crews have known and worked with this family for 25 years, and have so much respect and admiration for this family and the impact they have on the lives of these children. At the ribbon cutting, City of St. Cloud’s fire crews also toured the home so they could get acquainted with the children, their needs, and the layout of the home.

Disparos en apartamentos Vineland Landings
Kissimmee, FL - El 18 de junio de 2021 aproximadamente a la 1:30 p.m., el Departamento de Policía de Kissimmee recibió llamadas al 9-1-1 de Vineland Landings Apartments en referencia a disparos escuchados..

Vineland Landings Apartments shootings
Kissimmee, FL - On June 18, 2021 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Kissimmee Police Department received 9-1-1 calls from the Vineland Landings Apartments in reference to hearing gunshots.
When police arrived on scene, they found one victim injured from gunshot wounds. That victim is expected to be okay.
During the investigation, it was determined Khanji Jknoki Fairley, date of birth August 23, 1994, was identified as the suspect in the attempted murder. He was last seen driving a silver Toyota with a possible Florida tag number of QSVQ06. He may also be driving a 2006 light blue Lexus IS250 with Florida tag number LMBD41.
There is an arrest warrant out for the suspect as investigators continue working the investigation.

St. Cloud, FL - St. Cloud Police Department’s K9 Koda will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Koda’s vest will be embroidered with the sentiment “Honoring those who served and sacrificed”. Delivery is expected within eight to ten weeks.
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and NIJ certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 4,301 vests to K9s in all 50 states at a value of $6.9 million, made possible by both private and corporate donations.
“K9’s are part of our organization and are part of our family. It is great to have an organization that cares and supports the K-9’s within our Department.
