MultiTech Celebrates 50 Years of Innovation

Accenture has identified the following trends that will be prevalent at CES this week:

5G the Future of Home and Work The traditional notion of home and work as static shelters will soon be entirely replaced by the general consumer mindset of “home and work are everywhere.” 5G will make it possible for experts and top professionals to work virtually onsite where the skills are lacking physically. In hyper-connected homes, we will have remote doctor appointments, learn with holographic teachers and have access to services via fingerprint-sensitive touchpads. At the business level, a plant manager in Seattle can use a 5G powered, extended reality headset to immerse themselves in a virtual replica of a factory in Vietnam. Volumetric executives can appear in meetings anywhere in the world with next generation conferences. Doctors can leverage the ultra-reliable low latency of 5G to perform specialized surgeries remotely. Continued on Page 37

ASHA’s Concern About Tech Use Shared by World Health Organization The American Speech-Language Association (ASHA) has long raised concern about the threat to hearing from listening to personal audio devices too loudly, too often and for too long. That concern was validated anew last February when the World Health Organization (WHO), in conjunction with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), introduced first ever global safe listening recommendations for manufacturers of personal audio devices.

AdvancingDiversity.org Promotes Diversity, Inclusion & Equality in Workforce For decades Jack Myers, Founder of MediaVillage and AdvancingDiversity .org, has been an outspoken advocate for diversity, inclusion and equality in the workplace. On January 8th, the passionate storyteller and producer brings together hundreds of leaders from the media, advertising and entertainment industries to join the tech community around five initiatives to increase diversity within their companies. “Through our MediaVillage platform, we are launching a long-term campaign to promote our industry as a welcoming home for a wide spectrum of diverse talent with an emphasis on the tech community, veterans, educators, students, hospitality and healthcare workers,” said Myers. “After a council meeting on our five-point, five-year action plan, we will gather for our third Advancing Diversity Hall of Honors Immersive Experience, again partnering with Sundance Institute Theatre Program in creatively recognizing leaders on the forefront of the diversity movement; and then unite over 25 companies with the

next generation of talent at the third Advancing a Diverse Workforce MeetUp at the Park MGM.” MediaVillage’s years of groundbreaking research demonstrates why advocacy to activism is so necessary. Highlights include: The industry’s diversity retention rate for the first five years of employment is under 25 percent versus an all-industry standard of 40 percent. The average first job in 2018 was nine months, compared to 18 months in 2008 and 26 months in 1998. The industry often requires a college degree; only 33 percent of the U.S. population has a college degree. The industry needs to expand outreach to include veterans, educators, healthcare and hospitality workers, otherabled, tech-savvy, high school and those geographically distant from media centers. Financial support is required to attract and retain diverse talent. How can captains of industry advance diversity? The five pillars of the action

Cyber Garage Management System Is your collision center running without a management system? That could be risky, as every business, no matter how small or big, requires a management system, especially in these times. Businesses have evolved to be more complicated than what it used to be and as such, you require a competent and up-to-date management system for your business if you wish to survive the competition in the marketplace. Moreover, the cost of man-

agement systems has become very affordable in today’s market. So, what is stopping you? Having a management system can actually save you money when it comes to improving production and labor efficiency. A management system allows for electronic communication to vendors and customers and offers real-time update status notifications to customers. A management system can increase your customer

Introducing Aegis Smart Door Lock Bosma, a global leader in smart connected devices, will launch a new stylish door lock called Aegis. The Aegis intelligent door lock will feature several standard features like remote lock/unlock, keyless entry, door ajar notifications, various access levels, and some that are not so standard like the Anti-lock pick detection and auto-lock and unlock feature via Bluetooth. The design of the Aegis door lock was a partnership between Bosma USA and Ink Studios, both located in Northern California. It’s elegant octagonal alloy design compliments the rest of its features. The design also includes a magnet-

ic front cover that houses its 4 AA batteries, making it easy to replace. An LED indicator informs the user whether the door is open or closed. Bosma also mentioned that the Aegis door lock is ideal for renters or Airbnb host as it does not replace the entire door lock, but just the inside deadbolt, which still gives users the ability to use their existing key. Aegis door lock features a built-in sensor that alerts you if your door has been left open or ajar. The installation of Aegis door lock takes about five minutes from start to finish. Once installed, you can navigate its features using the Bosma app, which you can find in Google’s Play

SOLiD DAS Keeps NYC Connected in Demanding Environments The urban landscape of New York City is one of the most concentrated in the world. It includes soaring skyscrapers along with a vast maze of subway routes and road tunnels. Everywhere in the city, visitors, residents and workers access wireless systems as never before. A June 2019 report from Pew Research notes that 81 percent of Americans have smartphones, up from 35 percent in 2011. Almost three-quarters own laptop or desktop computers, and about half own tablets. The proliferation of streaming HD video and expanding LTE and 5G services ensure a key role for distributed antenna systems (DAS) well into the future. SOLiD DAS addresses wireless connectivity issues in demanding urban environments such as subways, tunnels, airports, office buildings, condominium high-rises and other densely populated structures.

Evolution of Wireless Coverage in NYC In the early 2000s, Bandwidth Logic deployed outdoor networks in Central Park. The company also set up networks for corporate clients like Pfizer and the News Corporation of America. Early contracts focused on pole top antennas and fiber installation. Eventually, Transit Wireless was specifically created to deliver wireless services in the MTA subway. Ultimately, Transit Wireless chose SOLiD DAS to meet the unique demands of the subway environment. SOLiD’s equipment had already proven itself in the subway system in Seoul, South Korea. Over the years, there’s been a change in who owns the equipment. The carrier consortiums of the early 2000s are giving way to third-party ownership of multi-carrier equipment. Bandwidth Logic is a third-party owner (3PO) dedicated to serving enterprises and carriers alike.

TECH R&D Broadens Injury Application Angle for Uni-Seal Repair Product TECH’s R&D team has been actively pursuing parent company TRC’s 4r vison, to create and extract value from materials formerly considered to be at the end of their usable life. TECH’s R&D team took this vision to heart by altering the materials and process utilized in the manufacture of

its one-piece Uni-Seal truck and passenger car repair products. By increasing the injury and repair angle from 25 degrees to 35 degrees, it greatly increases the number of tires that are able to be repaired verses scrapped, thus keeping them on the road and out of landfills.

Recently crowdfunded Sentry Doorbell will also feature a biometric scanner that will allow users to unlock the Aegis door lock using their fingerprint. There will be an unlimited number of users you can register to use this feature. Bosma stated that it took customer feedback very seriously, and that led to the design and features of both units. They also said that they might consider crowdfunding for the Aegis door lock in February of 2020. Bosma will even consider giving test units to consumers as part of its “Got to love testing” program that allows consumers to test the latest SOLiD DAS in NYC In NYC, SOLiD DAS now enables 2 billion wireless connections annually. Equipment versatility and durability are key factors in SOLiD’s success. For example, SOLiD’s ALLIANCE DAS meets the demand for LTE services in any band. ALLIANCE DAS can lock in radio frequency (RF) power levels to meet public safety communications requirements pertaining to 2-way (UHF/VHF) and public-safety (700/800) services.

SOLiD: Subway DAS The sprawling Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) subway system requires wireless coverage in 472 stations serving 1.7 billion riders/year. SOLiD leveraged its experience with other large subway systems to propose equipment for NYC’s subway. SOLiD’s success with the MTA subway led to yet another deployment of the Multi-Carrier DAS in the Toronto Transit structed to withstand the most abusive environments and incorporate user-friendly glides, making the chair easy to move. Fabricated with a flex back bracket for easy movement and resiliency, The Glory is a high-performance gaming chair. With various options and enhancements, The Glory can be built to meet your needs. Offered in a variety of gaming bases, seat heights, handles, finishes and fabrics including custom embroidery, The Glory can be customized to complement any casino floor According to TECH’s Vice President of Technology Bill Johnson, “We were confident that with slight modifications to the chemical composition of materials and our manufacturing process we could increase the application of our Uni-Seal product.” The TECH R&D team conducted rigorous road wheel testing with overloaded tires for over 240 hours using the TECH’s in-house endurance test protocol. In addition, it conducted FMVSS-139 tests with each tire. Each

SOLiD: Building DAS Consider the magnitude of the DAS requirements in the city’s ubiquitous skyscrapers. For example, at the UN headquarters, SOLiD DAS helps to address the wireless needs of representatives from 193 countries. It also serves 1 million visitors per year. SOLiD’s state-of-the-art DAS is also critical in the 2.2 million square foot Empire State Building. This iconic attraction hosts 3.5 million visitors per year. Residential structures have massive wireless requirements as well. Consider 432 Park Avenue, the tallest residential building in the world. The 412,637 square foot structure is 1,396 feet tall.

AeroPress Delivers Cold Press Coffee in Minutes AeroPress coffee maker inventor Alan Adler often gives talks about inventing. He always tells his audience to try things, even if they think they won't work. His discovery that you can cold brew coffee using the AeroPress is the result of following his own advice. Adler has always been interested in different water temperatures for brewing coffee. When he first got the idea to try making cold brew with the AeroPress, he

expected that a long steep time would be essential to the process. After all, cold brewing coffee with room temperature water traditionally takes many hours. So he was astonished to discover that using a much shorter brewing time could produce very flavorful coffee. Making one to three cups of cold brew coffee using the AeroPress is simple. Stir fine drip grind coffee and room temperature water together for one

The Occupational Health & Safety Issue the Gaming Industry Is Ignoring All occupations and industries have their employee health hazards. The gaming industry has focused on second-hand smoke, noise-induced hearing loss, higher risks for alcoholism, gambling addiction, depression and repetitive physical activity induced ailments, to name a few. But there is one health issue that is lacking discussion and therefore not being properly addressed – improper foot care and how it relates to negative overall body health and wellness. According to the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), 77 percent of Americans say they have experienced foot pain. When you add in a physically demanding work environment to

the above, the percent undoubtedly rises. Foot issues can be attributed to a couple things – genetics and incorrect footwear – for the job, the environment and the individual foot. Genetically speaking, a person can be born with flat feet, high arches, the tendency to over-pronate (feet roll inward), etc. The good news with genetics is that they are not incorrect issues that need to be fixed, but rather supported to avoid setbacks and future debilitating conditions. However, genetic features are often exacerbated, and new foot ailments are developed, when a person wears unsupportive, poorly designed or improperly

Owner Bren Isgitt and a friend who was a business partner at the time bought the house on a handshake deal on the square in Wimberley and started renovations. “It had been an

The grand opening for the new store in Wimberley was held on October 1 of 2001. “It was market day, when 20,000 people come to town,” Isgitt said. “We opened that weekend, and at the end of the first day – boy, we knew we made the right move.” In Wimberley, the two friends found a Texas Hill Country community of home cooks who had Food Network on their cable television, access to culinary schools in Austin and San Antonio and the incomes they could generate in city careers to support their culinary aspirations. Some of their new customers were Houstonians with second homes in Wimberley where they came to relax for family weekends, and many of them were tourists who came to swim in

For example, if the arch on a flatfooted person is not properly supported, especially during an 8-12 hour workday, breakdown happens, body weight pressure is unevenly distributed, contact with the ground is lessened, reducing balance and stability and the body unnaturally shifts, resulting in pain in the knees, hips, back and shoulders. The body becomes biomechanically inefficient, which leads to an unproductive worker. But finding footwear that fits every individual foot can be difficult. They're likely to laugh and tell Isgitt that they're going to need to go with the family to eat, but they'll be back afterwards to shop,” Isgitt said. “Their favorite saying – besides, 'I love this place' – is, 'If you don't have it, I don't need it.'” Inside the 1,800 square-foot store, they find an interior remodeled in 2017 by Isgitt and HTI Buying Group President, KC Lapiana. They repainted the store, which hadn't been touched since it had opened in 2001, put in new laminate flooring and replaced the old grid system for gadgets with a slat wall. They also replaced some of the fixtures that had been donated by manufacturers along the way with new units that matched. That opened up the aisles so they were accessible for wheelchairs. “It was hard to get a wheelchair around [before the remodel], and now it's not hard at all,” Isgitt said. “The slat wall allowed hanging products that had maybe been in bins. KC really did help organize my store.” A central island displays best sellers, including the Chic Wrap plastic wrap dispenser and Bee's Wrap and silicone and stainless steel reusable straws. “People from Austin want sustainable products,” Isgitt said. “They don't want products that go into the trash.... Bottled Water You Taste Through Your Nose By Lorrie Baumann

SZENT is a new brand of bottled water with a twist ― a scent ring affixed to the neck of the bottle that's infused with natural oils carry the aroma of natural flavoring to the drinker's nose. What's actually inside the bottle is just water purified by reverse osmosis ― all the flavor is in the scent ring. “What you're ingesting is the water,” said Maddie Grandbois, SZENT's Chief Creative Officer and one of the three company co-Founders. “Your brain believes that you're getting a hit of flavor, but you're not ingesting any flavor, any artificial ingredients. We're not

adding anything to our water.” The company was launched in October of 2018 after four years’ worth of research and development looking into ways that they might be able to disrupt the beverage category. “It took a group of people outside that industry to shake it up. We were able to think about the beverage category in a different way,” Grandbois said. “We were looking for a product that had flavor, but we didn't want to compromise.” While they wanted their beverage to have authentic flavor, the partners were dubious about the 'natural flavors,' they were finding on the market, which

Allin Interactive DigiPublic Digital Signage Platform Activated at Wind Creek Properties Allin Interactive has announced the activation of its DigiPublic™ digital signage platform at two Wind Creek Hospitality properties. The implementation of Allin’s DigiPublic signage solution at Wind Creek Atmore, Alabama and Renaissance Aruba marks a significant milestone in Allin’s 25-year history of developing and deploying dynamic interactive solutions for the hospitality marketplace. “We are extremely pleased that Wind Creek Hospitality elected to be the first major client for our DigiPublic solution,” stated John Troutwine, President of Allin

Interactive. “And the nature of these deployments allowed us to showcase our ability to integrate with back-of-house third-party systems to display the right content at the right time on the right displays.” “We selected Allin DigiPublic as our go-forward signage platform because, quite simply, it offered the best combination of functionality, flexibility and price from an experienced interactive technology provider,” said John Enriquez, Chief Information Officer at Wind Creek Hospitality. “Now that we have implemented at a large scale at Wind Creek

AccuVision-3D from Arslan Automotive As vehicles are getting more sophisticated, so is the way we repair them. The industry is evolving at an exponential pace and shops that want to stay in business must also evolve and fulfill the OEM and industry certification requirements. There is thus the need to be well equipped to handle the new challenges. A Pulse MIG/MAG welder, a resistance spot welder and a 3D measuring system, among other tools, are essentials for every shop going forward. Arslan Automotive Canada Ltd., a 37-plus year supplier and manufacturer

Cutting Edge Automotive Solutions By Robyn Perry, Chief Marketing Officer of Cutting Edge Automotive Solutions

Based in Foley, Alabama, Cutting Edge Automotive Solutions is a customeroriented equipment sales, service and training company offering quality products, powerhouse brands and total shops solutions. Originally founded in 2009 as a Snap-on Tools franchise, Founder and current Chief Executive Officer Lee Locklear recognized the limitations of being able to properly service customers from the mobile tool truck business format. In 2012, the Snap-on franchise was sold, and the new company mission began: provide the best solu-

tions available for our customers backed by unsurpassed service, support and training. In just a few short years, Cutting Edge grew from a garage-based business to a multi-million dollar tool and equipment company. In November 2019, Cutting Edge is moving into its third commercial facility in four years, giving the company a total of 41,000 square feet. Some neurophysiologists believe it's possible that only about 5 percent of what we experience when we're eating is actually coming from our sense of taste. SecuGen’s Low-Cost, Compact Bluetooth Fingerprint Reader By Jeff Brown, Vice President of Sales, SecuGen Corporation

What is Unity 20 Bluetooth? The Unity 20 Bluetooth is the world’s first elegantly designed, low cost, fully programmable Bluetooth fingerprint reader. It is sleek and small enough to be carried in your pocket as a mobile fingerprint reader or placed at a workstation as an ergonomic desktop reader. It’s a versatile scanner that can securely transfer fingerprint data wirelessly to mobile devices and computers alike. But it can also process and store encrypted fingerprints within the device without having fingerprint data ever leaving the device. This can help ensure that sensitive biometric data stays secure within the users’ possession at all times, which can be important for sensitive transactions.

What’s so appealing about it? Most Bluetooth products on the market are about as attractive as a deck of cards. The Unity 20 Bluetooth reader, on the other hand, is a stunning device with a simple but intuitive single button interface and three small LEDs. Our team has been able to achieve this while keeping the price of the product very low and suitable even for large-scale deployments. With support for Android and iOS, the Unity 20 Bluetooth can be paired with most smartphones or tablets as an efficient solution for roaming enrollment and authentication of groups of people without having to deal with bulky machines. No longer requiring cables that can lead to clunky tethering, the Unity 20 Bluetooth was designed so that an administrator can hold it in one hand while presenting it to a user to place their finger comfortably to scan.

Murata: Spotlight On Mobility An interview with Tom Kuhl, Director – Murata’s Mobility Industry

CEDN: How does Murata define the mobility market?

TK: We consider anything that moves people or products to have a mobility play. However, we focus on systems level applications that assist in automating the human driving process, that help create and manage electric energy, and that connect intelligently to the world. Given that, any type of vehicle is our focus if we can help accomplish those three things.

CEDN: What are some of the key trends?

TK: The ACES (Autonomous, Connected, Electric, Shared) trend is well established, with software grabbing the spotlight as intelligent cars need more robust, sophisticated operating systems. However, I think some of the more interesting things are happening in the hard-

ware supply chain. For example, how do we pack all of the hardware, sensors, processors, batteries, etc. into a vehicle and ensure the reliability and comfort that we are used to? Building on that, there are numerous technology subsystems in play and up for grabs. One battle happening is among the more than 100 companies competing to produce the most effective version of LIDAR. These dynamics have laid the groundwork for a hardware renaissance. Managing this aspect of the new automotive supply chain will provide significant opportunities to those who do it best.

CEDN: How do you see electronic component companies helping to advance these rapidly emerging means of mobility?

TK: Electronic components are a tremendous part of the vehicle today – newer automobiles have more than 20,000 alone. As we follow the ACES model, that number will continue to

Creating a Winning Customer Experience By Simon Sundberg, Head of Demand Generation OSS/BSS, Ericsson

“You’re not too young for this position, frankly, I would be more worried if you were my age!” The regional Senior Vice President smiled at me. I was five months into heading up Ericsson’s client marketing engagement organization in Southeast Asia, and not entirely sure I was the right person for the job. He continued to explain to me that our clients across the region – the mobile operators – served a young consumer base. The median age in Southeast Asia is 29. I was 32 at the time. When you do something for the first time, you’ll make mistakes, and I

was certainly no exception. But my age suggested that I could relate to the expectations of both Generation X and Y. That taught me something about recruitment, and the first point I’d like to make. People are part of your essential infrastructure to create a successful business, and it starts with leaders who can choose the right people. I assume that we don’t know the best use cases for 5G yet, and that we haven’t even discovered all the opportunities we can make possible through LTE. Some of you may remember when 3G arrived. All operators promoted video calling, which almost no consumer used. The best opportunities for mobile

What’s under the hood? The Unity 20 Bluetooth can be used right out of the box using the pre-installed Fingerprint Management System software. Alternatively, it can be completely custom programmed to suit the needs of the targeted user base. Within the slim, sleek white case, the reader has a 1GHz CPU and complete Linux development environment, including SecuGen’s fingerprint capture and NIST MINEX-compliant template extraction and matching algorithms, and the OpenSSL cryptography library.

What does this say about us? This product is the embodiment of our philosophy of listening to the voices of our partners and designing world class products to meet their needs. The Unity 20 Bluetooth is a breakthrough product that maintains our dedication to quality and affordability. As this is precisely what our partners have been asking for, we are excited to support and help them succeed with new

grow. That innovation is going to require new products, such as sensors, as well as improvements and extensions on current technology. Examples include managing thermals as we pack more circuit boards in the vehicle and power them with rechargeable batteries or developing new hardware solutions to handle all of the required high-speed communications. Each circuit board can have thousands of board level components – all of which are essential to advancing these technologies. CEDN: Why sensors?

TK: As we work to automate the human driving process, we need to mimic vision, hearing, touch and instinctive decision making. This is a tall order and only deepens your appreciation for how extraordinary the human senses are. While the sensors may never mirror human vision 100 percent, they will be substantial enough operators are ahead and this means the best offers have yet to be invented. If the assumption that the best is yet to come is true, the most future-proof platform is the platform that will give mobile operators the freedom and agility to experiment and try new things, at a cost that’s as low as possible. You don’t want to spend weeks in configuration, or maybe even months in development, just to find out that your new offer doesn’t fly. Ericsson BSS and Dynamic Orchestration solutions help mobile operators to drive this transformation, and dramatically lowers the cost of screwing up. Established and documented processes are crucial to move towards

ADAS: Advanced Driver Assistance Systems By Augustin Leung, Vice President, CUB Elecparts, Inc.

ADAS is the acronym for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. The idea is that by providing a safe interface to the driver, roadway safety should be improved. The machines are helping us watch out for things that we may not see with our own eyes. But what does this mean to you? The general benefit is clear: we, along with everyone else, will enjoy safer driving conditions. Most accidents on the roads are due to human error, and nearly 10 percent of fatalities are due to distractions. But what it means is that we can

help reduce these statistics; we are now enabled to promote and provide these technologies to the masses. Popular applications in the category for retrofit include Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Pedestrian Detection Systems and Traffic Awareness Systems. Many of these systems are easy to install and can be carried out by many DIY types. There are so many almost plug-and-play systems available in the market, you just need to know what makes a good system to make an informed decision on which one to buy. CUB, a manufacturer of ADAS products, is an example of a rep-

utable brand that has not only desirable features and performance, but some of the best quality in the industry. CUB is not only ISO9001 certified, but its manufacturing is IATF16949 certified as well. This means that the manufacturing is qualified enough to deliver to automakers and top tier clients. Its products are engineered to conform to established international standards so that you can trust that they work like you expect them to. For example, its BSD systems conform to the ISO17387 standards, which gives you the confidence you need when changing lanes. Not all BSD systems are created equal. It’s important to understand some of the technical terms being used and know what it is that you’re getting. When comparing and selecting a system, you should know what classification system

it is. A type I system according to the ISO17387 standard is intended to provide a warning for vehicles that are in the adjacent zone coverage. This provides a blind spot warning. A type II system is intended to provide a warning for vehicles that are approaching. This provides warnings for vehicles traveling at a higher speed. A type III system is one that combines both type I and II together for complete coverage and offers complete lane change warning. Typically, lower priced systems are not type III systems, which is what is used on original equipment systems today. Make good decisions by being informed. A copy of the ISO 17387 document can be obtained online for instant download.

ASHA Helps Parents Manage Technology Use An interview with Joseph Cerquone, Director of Public Relations, American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

CEDN: The American-SpeechLanguage-Association (ASHA) has been exhibiting annually at CES for more than a decade. In your view, what major changes have occurred with respect to safe and healthy usage of popular technology?

JC: There has been considerable change. When we first exhibited, personal digital technology was still very novel. It was all about using and enjoying the devices without much thought given to the impact of unsafe behavior, and how it could negatively affect hearing and speech. In fact, a lot of users probably didn’t even know that how they were using the devices was unsafe. In those days, ASHA was one of the

very few voices raising concern. Now, not only has the number of concerned groups increased, but also the number of individuals, including parents, educators and CES attendees themselves. Our polling of them shows them to be pretty conservative about popular tech use. For example, according to one poll of 200 attendees to CES 2018, almost 70 percent said children should not have their own personal technology devices until age 10 or older; nearly one-third (30 percent) said children should not use popular tech devices until age 10 or older. Today, there is greater awareness of some of the potential risks involved in unsafe use of popular technology. Yet, one need not look any further than a World Health Organization (WHO) estimate to understand that more awareness is critically important. According to WHO, unsafe use of what they refer to as

Move Marketing Forward with Innovations from USPS In the past, marketers targeted broad demographics, blanketing them with their brand messaging and hoping for conversions. More recently, digital retargeting technology has taken over, allowing marketers to precisely reach interested shoppers with effective messages at optimal times. Consumers, however, have evolved beyond these methods. A report from eMarketer found that one in four U.S. internet users have ad-blocking services in place, helping them ignore digitally retargeted messages. A number of marketing innovations – some of which were developed by the U.S. Postal Service®v – are helping businesses reach qualified customers in a meaningful and memorable way by using data intelligence. These four innovations blend the

precision and power of digital media with the effectiveness of physical mail:

Retargeted Direct Mail Incorporate retargeting into direct mail to rekindle a customer’s interest in a less invasive manner that spans multiple channels. Using programmatic algorithms and machine learning, retargeted direct mail gives a business the opportunity to send simple, personalized mail to a customer based on the customer’s interactions online. The targeting message is timely, too, typically arriving within 24 to 48 hours of their initial action. Informed Delivery® Turn a standard direct mail campaign into an interactive omni-channel one. The Informed Delivery feature lets users preview their mail before it arrives in an

Consumer Electronics Daily News personal audio devices is contributing to 1.1 billion young people worldwide being at risk of acquiring noise-induced hearing loss.

CEDN: What is behind the concern?

JC: On the hearing side, repeated use of popular tech for extended periods at high volume – a usage habit that polling has consistently shown to be widespread – can result in noise-induced hearing loss, an irreversible condition. Otherwise, as very young children have come to be tech users, a newer worry has arisen about the impact of that usage on the development of their speech and language skills. Engagement in conversation – a proven and critical way of fostering that development – may be taking a back seat to tech use. When we did national polling of parents of children 08, they reported a lessening in conversation at home. In short, a portion of the public may email, app or online dashboard. In the preview, consumers also gain access to digital ridealong content that drives them to a company’s website or other digital channel. These users then have multiple distinct opportunities to take action – from their inbox to their mailbox.

Informed Visibility® Coordinate campaign efforts and enable synchronicity between digital and physical efforts by leveraging near-real time tracking for mail deliveries. The Informed Visibility feature offers tracking data that marketers can use to sync digital campaigns (such as banners, social ads, emails and more) with their mail campaigns. This way, they can reconnect with consumers shortly after they receive a physical mailpiece. Aligning campaigns across multiple channels helps businesses reach prospects at the right time and frequency The company’s portfolio includes soft and rigid grades. The broad range of properties available make these polymers and compounds ideal for a variety of applications needing various degrees of hardness, resistance to oil, grease, chemicals and temperatures, as well as colorability and recyclability.

Trinseo and Recycled Materials Since its start with post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials nearly a decade ago, Trinseo has overcome numerous challenges such as PCR feedstock availability, reliable sourcing and ways to balance material performance properties to ensure the integrity of end-use applications. These materials – Trinseo’s ECO grades – combine virgin content and PCR (plastic scrap or waste from consumer applications that is reclaimed, reprocessed and used again in new applications) to achieve the exact properties

JC: No doubt there is overlap between the public we have polled over the years and the customers or potential customers of companies here at CES. The polling shows many parents struggle managing their children’s popular technology use. ASHA offers informed, practical, easyto-implement guidance that can help with that management as it promotes health and safety. We invite attendees to learn more at ASHA’s booth. Digitally Enhanced Mail Add a digital layer to a physical direct mailpiece to spark curiosity and lead prospective customers directly to a business’s digital channels. Using scannable QR codes, connected NFC chips or technology like augmented or virtual reality, businesses can add a layer of interest to physical mail that draws in a consumer. On top of that, each of these can then lead a recipient to a specific digital channel where they can continue to interact with the brand. As modern marketing moves and changes, businesses can benefit from thoughtful and creative campaign elements. These innovations can help power successful omni-channel campaigns and prepare marketers for what’s next. Learn more about delivering innovation by visiting USPS at CES. needed for an application. In fact, the company is able to create a material with up to 95 percent recycled content. This includes ultra-bright white and transparent options – both difficult to achieve with material other than virgin content. Over the years, Trinseo has seen that some applications are appropriate for recycled content and some are not. For example, industries that are highly regulated or have strict requirements have limitations due to the variability in recycled resin content and the potential impact on material performance properties. Trinseo, with its a unique blend of traditional rigid and soft touch, its sustainable materials platforms and solution orientation is positioned to offer creative solutions to help customers achieve their sustainability objectives.
